The different modes of stem cell division are tightly regulated to balance growth and differentiation during organ development and homeostasis. However, the mechanisms controlling such events are not fully understood. We have developed markers that provide the single cell resolution necessary to identify the three modes of division occurring in a developing nervous system: self-expanding, self-renewing, and self-consuming. Characterizing these three modes of division during interneuron generation in the developing chick spinal cord, we demonstrated that they correlate to different levels of ac

Studies using the H2B-retention labeling system show HSC functional decline at each round of division (Qiu, Stem Cell Reports 2014). Here we examined the link between mitochondrial metabolism, in vivo division at steady state, and HSC functions using the GFP label-Histone 2B (GFP-H2B) mouse model driven by a doxycycline-inducible promoter.

Abstract:
<p>The dorsal striatum, an essential nucleus in subcortical areas, has a crucial role in controlling a variety of complex cognitive behaviors; however, few studies have been conducted in recent years to explore the functional subregions of the dorsal striatum that are significantly activated when performing multiple tasks. To explore the differences and connections between the functional subregions of the dorsal striatum that are significantly activated when performing different tasks, we propose a framework for functional division of the dorsal striatum based on a graph

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Site-directed mutagenesis experiments combined with fluorescence microscopy shed light on the role of Escherichia coli FtsW, a membrane protein belonging to the SEDS family that is involved in peptidoglycan assembly during cell elongation, division, and sporulation. This essential cell division protein has 10 transmembrane segments (TMSs). It is a late recruit to the division site and is required for subsequent recruitment of penicillin-binding protein 3 (PBP3) catalyzing peptide cross-linking. The results allow identification of several domains of the protein with distinct functions.

Abstract:
The history of neurosurgery at University of São Paulo comes from 1918, since its origins under the Department of Neurology from Chair of Psychiatric Clinic and Nervous Diseases. Professor Enjolras Vampré was the great inspiration for such medical specialty in the State of Sao Paulo. In 1929, the first neurosurgical procedures were performed in the recently (at time) organized Section of Neurosurgery. The official inauguration of the Division of Functional Neurosurgery occurred at June 1977, with the presence of worldwide well-known neuroscientists. The division suffered a deep streamlining un
