The Functional Equivalence Theory put forward by Eugene Nida, an American translation theorist, notes that translation is a process of using the closest and most natural equivalent in the target language to reproduce the information of the source language. Therefore, the Functional Equivalence Theory has great application space in the text analysis of prose translation. In this paper, the author discusses how to apply the theory of Function

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the types of metaphor in the animated film Zootopia and explore effective translation strategies to promote cross-cultural communication. Employing text analysis and case study methods, this research examines subtitle translation strategies under the framework of functional equivalence theory. The finding reveals that the application of vocabulary equivalence and cultural equivalence can effectively steer the translation of metaphors in Zootopia, offering strategic guidance to translators. These strategies enhance the quality of metaphor translation in animated films

The Bible translation theory called “dynamic equivalence” from the middle of the twentieth century was more than what may be called the first definable theory of Bible translation. Indirectly or directly, it spawned or related to seven other specific theories: meaning-based translation, cultural equivalence or transculturation, complete equivalence, optimal equivalence, closest natural equivalence, functional equivalence, and skopostheorie. Even the term formal equivalence originated during this time. Later in the same period, the code model of communication on which dynamic equivalence was ba

Abstract. This study, titled Translation Shifts in The Crown Netflix Series, aims to identify various types of translation shifts and assess the functional equivalence of these shifts within the context of the Netflix series The Crown. The research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing ten episodes from one season as the primary data. Data collection focused on examining the translated texts accompanying each episode. The analysis is grounded in Catford's theory of translation shifts, which categorizes shifts into two main types: level and category shifts, further subdivided into structure,
