The development of handwriting quality and speed of 407 primary school children was followed from Grade 1 to Grade 5 in a longitudinal experiment. Performance was analyzed to enquire into the extent and bases for handwriting dysfunction. 27% of the children were classified as dysfunctional at the end of Grade I. At the end of Grade 5 only 13% were so classified. Most children have adequate perception and motor abilities to develop functional handwriting. Dysfunction of handwriting speed can usually be traced to dysfunction of its quality. Dysfunction of quality can be traced to insufficient in

In this paper we consider the question of uniqueness of positive solutions for Dirichlet problems of the form - Δ u(x)= g(λ,u(x)) in B, u(x) = 0 on ϑB, where A is the Laplace operator, B is the unit ball in RˆN, and A>0. We show that if g(λ,u)=uˆ(N+2)/(N-2) + λ, that is g has "critical growth", then large positive solutions are unique. We also prove uniqueness of large solutions when g(λ,u)=A f(u) with f(0) < 0, f "superlinear" and monotone. We first describe a general class of optimization problems that describe many natu- ral, economic, and statistical phenomena. After noting the existence of a conserved quantity in a transformed coordinate system, we outline several instances of these problems in statistical physics, facility allocation, and machine learning. A dynamic description and statement of a partial inverse problem follow. When attempting to optimize the state of a system governed by the generalized equipartitioning princi- ple, it is vital to understand the nature of the governing probability distribution. The well-posedness of abstract stochastic differential equations on such spaces is a recent result of van Neerven, Veraar and Weis, based on the theory of stochastic integration of Banach space valued processes constructed by the same authors. We study existence and uniqueness for solutions of stochastic differential equations with (possibly infinite) delay in their inputs on UMD Banach spaces. Such problems are also known as functional differential equations or delay differential equations. We show that the metho

Mesh adaptation is modification of an existing mesh as to accurately capture physical phenomena without increasing computational cost excessively. Among many challenges remained in this field, "unsteady mesh adaptation" and "functional-output mesh adaptation" are the two topics addressed in this work. "Transient-Fixed-point" method is a new approach for unsteady mesh adaptation as an implicit coupling between the mesh and the solution. What differentiates transient-fixed-point from steady adaptation methods is the metric intersection through time. In this work a new scheme for transient metric

This prevailed until the 1970s when the interest of the farming class began to be reasserted. By the 1990s, the main issue was the disparity problems, which considers as almost equally weighty, the interests of poor farmers, as well as that of nonagricultural consumers
