Abstract:
Despite the advances in functional structure modeling, the underlying models are lacking formalism and a consistent basis for successive reasoning. Many researchers have worked on functional structures and in standardizing their vocabulary while some undertook the task of benchmarking the process of creating it, although the effects of functional structure modeling methods and strategies on further stages of conceptual design during concept generation have not been discussed in depth. In the present research, a new procedural algorithmic approach for the functional structure is developed and demonstrated.

Yang, Yongzhong. "The Structure of Genitive Constructions and Their Derivation." Linguistic Forum - A Journal of Linguistics 3, no. 3 (2025): 1–9. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14812514.

Full text
Abstract:
The present study is mainly concerned with the internal structure of syntactic derivation of genitive constructions. It is argued that structurally the two basic forms of genitive constructions are [DP GenP [D` D XP]] and [DP XP [D` D GenP]] (XP=NumP or NP), with prenominal genitive constructions occupying the [Spec DP] position and post-nominal genitive constructions in [Comp D`]. Between the genitive constructions and the functional head D, there is a feature checking relation, aiming to check some uninterpretable agreement features of the functional head. This relation is realized by different means in different languages. In languages such as English, German, Italian, Norwegian, Icelandic and Hebrew, it is realized via the overt movement of the genitive construction to the specifier position of the functional head, while in Chinese genitive construction, it is realized simply by feature matching. Thus, the syntactic derivation of the English genitive constructions is only one step further than that of Chinese genitive constructions. Based on this argument, the author proposes an analysis for the derivation of natural language genitive constructions, and uses it to account for the derivation of genitive constructions in relevant languages prior to the movement of the head nouns.

Abstract:
The article reviews building techniques, used for constructing a monumental fortification of the 6th century, erected in the river-valley of Rubas, near the village of Kommuna, Derbent region of the Republic of Dagestan. The site includes six objects different in layout and construction, connected with building junctions into a single object – a construction of arched type, Wall 1, Long wall 2, Stepped structure 6, Wall 3, Platform 5. Analysis of the excavation material shows that the technology of their building was due to the functional purpose of these objects. Moreover, each of the architectural structures was built with the use of unique building techniques, variety of masonry, as well as the sizes of stone blocks and plates. The aim of the research is to conduct the analysis of the technological methods of constructing multi-type military-engineering fortifications; to determine the links of technological methods with the object’s functional purposes; to determine the level of development of construction engineering and architecture in the Peri-Caspian region in the era of the Great Migration of Peoples and the significance of this site as a military-defensive construction. The research methodology includes a detailed analysis of technological methods for the construction of military engineering structures; carrying out the classification of methods for the construction of defensive objects and the system of laying stone structures; analysis of building materials used in the construction of structures. The analysis of the excavation materials of the Rubas fortification shows that, according to the technology of construction, this object is close to the Derbent defensive complex of the middle 6th century (large stone blocks; massiveness of structures; the use of “opus quadratum” masonry; the presence of a bonding lime mortar, etc.). According to the main indicators (monumentality and functional orientation), this structure belongs to a series of barriers in the Western Peri-Caspian, built by Persia with the financial assistance of Byzantium in the era of the Great Migration of Peoples, typologically and chronologically similar to Derbent.

Abstract This squib sketches an approach to concessive conditionals (CCs) from the perspective of Radical Construction Grammar (Croft 2001). It brings earlier functional-typological work on CCs to bear on language-particular constructionist analyses of CCs, using the notions of ‘family (of constructions)’ and ‘prototype’ as the bridge. After suggesting how these notions can be applied to CCs under a functional-typological approach, the structure of the CC sub-constructicon in German is discussed, and directions for future research are offered to round the squib off.

Abstract:
Architecture as an order of human society should correspond to the functional, aesthetic, time needs and financial capabilities of all strata of society.  In this article described the main functional division of industrial objects system. When designing industrial objects, the main task of the architect is to create a construction that would be most suitable for the technological process of production. That is, he must take into account all the factors and conditions that govern the hierarchical structure of the industry and design a factory or plant that would be a modern element of the production system. Back in 1923 A. Rozenberg, in his book "Philosophy of Architecture", wrote: "It is impossible to properly design an architectural structure, not knowing precisely the organization of the process for which it is intended. And therefore, the deeper the architect will penetrate into its details of the organization, the more accurate it will clear itself to all the requirements imposed on the organization of the process, its course, the properties of the individual components of the mass of the process, and will establish the scheme of the process - that the conformity of the architectural structure to the process taking place in it will be more perfect, and the better will be the construction. Abstract:
The Danish pseudopartitive constructions differ in their possibilities of definiteness marking: the Indirect Partitive Construction (IPC) (D N1 P N2) permits N1 to bear the definite suffix, while the Direct Partitive Construction (DPC) (D N1 N2) does not; in addition, neither construction permits the prenominal definite article in the absence of a prenominal modifier. Drawing on previous work regarding the morphosyntax of definiteness marking in Danish, we use the distribution of definiteness marking as a probe to illuminate the structure of the pseudopartitive constructions. Our conclusion is that despite superficial similarities the two constructions are quite different in structure, the IPC having a lexical N head and a PP complement, and the DPC a functional n head with an NP complement, forming a single extended projection of N2. These assumptions allow us to account for a number of differences in the behavior of these constructions, shedding light on the nature of pseudopartitives as well as on the theory of extended projections.

Abstract:
The article considers the function tracing method that provides project organizational structure systematic construction. Interconnectedness of methodological approaches between organizational design on a company scale and the role-based project structures construction has been described. Based on the existing level of organizational design development and its most frequently used methods, the tracing functions method from the project requirements to the functional roles of a project organizational structure have proposed and formalized. Initial data volume for organizational design and parallels between organizational structures of a company in general and a project in particular have been given. A mathematical scheme of the projected organizational structure functional distribution has been proposed considering a five-stage approach in tracing functions. The approach describes the stages of modeling the project organizational structure. On the basis of distributing the tasks required to be performed during the project realization, the principles description providing the correlation of the functionality to the project roles on the basis of the project realization goals has been offered. The factors that have a positive impact on project implementation and based on the considered approach of organizational structures functional design have been presented.

Abstract:
The scientific article proposes to consider the functional characteristics of juridical constructions in rule-making activity. We can note that the functions (directions) of legal constructions can reflect their main role as one of the means of legislative technique. We suggest considering the functions of legal constructions in the prism of the functional panel and provide a new definition by the author. It is considered that almost all legal constructions are one of the most complex means of law-making technique, the essence of which is insufficiently scientifically researched, namely the functional characteristic. Legal regulation and its scope expands every day, even in the conditions of martial law, the writing and application of legal techniques is not canceled. Thanks to the main directions of legal constructions, it is possible to clearly organize social relations in the legal and political plane. Knowing everything about legal constructions, we can facilitate the perception and study of the phenomena of legal reality. We can note, we have emphasized this in past works, that the legislation contains various types of legal constructions that are studied by branch sciences in the universities of our country. Legal constructions have certain features that characterize their features as means of lawmaking technique. First, they are a reflection of the structure of certain homogeneous legal phenomena that require legislative regulation. First of all, it should be noted that the circle of such phenomena is outlined, as a rule, by the legislator himself. In particular, Art. 92 of the Constitution of Ukraine defines and enshrines issues that belong to the subject of regulation exclusively by laws. We can see that, after all, certain general theoretical formations regarding legal constructions are missing. Thus, we propose to consider the latest formation of concepts and their origin. Attention is paid to the current topic of general theoretical jurisprudence, related to the process of construction, modeling, formation of algorithms of legal activity, as well as its correlation with the practical component. The scientific novelty consists not only in the analysis of domestic literature, regarding the characteristics of the main directions of legal constructions, but also in the latest views on the functional panel of constructions. At the same time, the problem of classifications of the functions of legal constructions does not have a large number of developments to date, regarding the study of this issue, but only allows the author to pay attention to the definition of the functions of a legal construction in more detail.

Abstract:
A method has been proposed for the structural functional-cost modeling of a complex hierarchical system. The initial data for carrying out calculations directly based on the functional-cost model have been determined. We have proposed and substantiated the cost description of a complex system and its components by using analytical approximating dependences. An example of the functional-cost algorithm has been given that employs a Lagrange multiplier method for complex systems with a serial combination of its separate parts. The solution to the example is the distribution among the desired probabilities of the effective operation of individual parts in terms of the minimum cost. Deriving such distribution does not require absolute values of the cost of both parts and the entire system. The issues addressed in the cost rationalization include the following: ensuring the predefined level of the functional perfection of a system at its minimum cost; determining the minimum required level of functional excellence in a single link at the known levels of functional excellence of the system and all other links except the one under investigation; determining the required number of parallel operating links for the same purpose; clarification of the required level of the functional perfection of links (information sensors, information processing links, communication channels) that have parallel communication; the structural improvement of a complex system by selecting a link within the system for which the improvement of functional perfection can be realized at minimum cost. We have proposed rules for the structural rationalization of a complex system. The first of them is the rule of the rational structural structure of a complex system. That makes it possible to receive a sufficient benefit from the complex system at minimum cost. The second rule is the expediency of complicating a complex system. According to it, complicating a complex system is advisable only if it improves the functional perfection of the entire complex system. The third rule, a rule of the proper structure, shows that there are no unnecessary links in the complex system, that is, those links that do not perform any activities that are not functionally required by a given system

Queuing theory is used to develop recommendations for constructing queuing systems efficiently, organizing the associated operations and functionalities, and regulating request flows for optimal performance. This paper presents a study of the income functional for two specific cases of controlled queuing systems: the M/G*/1/N* system for a controlled service duration and number of waiting spaces, and the G*/M/n/m queuing system with a controlled arrival flow. The construction of a controlled semi-Markov process and the construction of an income functional on its trajectories were used as the basis for this study. The task is to find the optimal control strategy in the given queuing systems. An algorithm for finding optimal strategies applicable to similar queuing systems to increase their functioning efficiency when controlling the system’s main characteristics was developed for both systems.

Abstract:
The present paper revisits a long-standing controversial issue in Chinese grammar — the passive voice — from a systemic functional approach. This study examines how the ba- and bei-constructions control the flow of information in text and shows that they are textually motivated. It argues, by differentiating the bei-construction from the OSV structure, and the ba-construction from the SOV and SVO structures, that the two constructions are not options of THEME, but form a separate level within the grammar. It then describes the system of VOICE in the language. Furthermore, facing the increasing productivity of the ba- and bei-constructions in process types other than transitive material processes, this study examines this trend of increasing productivity.

Abstract:
This paper provides a unified syntactic account of the distribution of Englishhavein causative constructions (e.g.John had Mary read a book) and experiencer constructions (e.g.John had the student walk out of his classroom). It is argued thathaveis realized in the context of anapplicative head(Appl) and an event-introducer v, regardless of the type of v.Haveis spelled out in the causative when Appl merges under vCAUSE, and in the experiencer construction when Appl merges under vBE. This proposal is extended tohavein possessive constructions (e.g.John has a hat/a brother):haveis realized in the context of vBEand Appl. The proposed account provides empirical evidence for expanding the distribution of Appl: (i) a causative can take ApplP as a complement, which was absent in Pylkkänen's (2008) typological classification, and (ii) Appl can merge above Voice, contrary to Pylkkänen's analysis in which Appl is argued to always merge below VoiceP, never above. Moreover, the proposed account supports the theoretical claim that argument structure is licensed by functional syntactic structure; in particular, it shows that the relevant functional heads are not aspectual heads, but Appl and v.

Abstract:
The presented article discusses the problems of quality control of construction materials. As we know, the quality of construction materials is one of the most pressing issues at the moment. Quality control means checking whether the quality indicators of goods meet the requirements of the adopted technical normative documents (standards, specifications, etc.). Quality control – set of quality indicators of the material is to check compliance with the requirements. This article also studies analysis of recent research and publications, the effectiveness of quality control methods and structure of functional diagnostics of quality control system. One of the most important areas of quality control is the diagnosis of control problems. Diagnostics – the identification and study of features that characterize the condition of building, structures of buildings and structures in order to identify possible deviations and prevent violations of the normal mode of operation. There are two main types of diagnostics, functional and systematic diagnostics. The main directions of functional diagnostic are described in tabular form. The structure of concrete is also considered here. Execution of concrete structures is a complex process that includes various activities. The basic principle of the development and the application of quality control system during the execution of concrete structures is the process approach. Defining the processes, identification and interaction of sub-processes are performed with the objective of quality monitoring and control that are required in order to achieve concrete structures’ specifications. Quality control system in the area of execution of concrete structures must also comply with national acts, rules, regulations and standards that are essential for concrete structures design, execution and concrete production. The analysis of specific compositions is presented in terms of diagnosing that structure

Abstract This paper investigates the formal and functional properties of so-called semi-insubordination (SIS), i.e. complex sentences with an ‘incomplete’ matrix clause (e.g. Funny that you should say that), on the basis of corpus data. It is shown that SIS differs in its function from the structurally related constructions it-extraposition and exclamatives, exhibiting its own functional profile: viz. expressing a subjectivizing speaker evaluation which is non-exclamative, deictically anchored, and relates to a non-presupposed proposition. Given these functional idiosyncrasies it is argued that SIS is best analysed as a construction in its own right (in terms of Construction Grammar) rather than simply an incomplete elliptical structure.

To apply these structures sensibly in practice, dominated by short planning phases, rapid construction and tremendous financial pressure, an in-depth knowledge of these complex structures is needed. Dealing with large open areas and three-dimensional shapes requires an extensive insight already during the design-process with creative freedom being restricted by technical and economical as well as functional and aesthetical aspects, due to the relationship between shape, function and structure.

This research examines the construction process and the techniques of vernacular residential dwellings of core area of Bhaktapur city. The physical characteristics of the buildings are rich in their heritage. The investigation mainly concentrates on assembly of building structures, scientific justification behind the technologies and the vertical functional use of the building. The paper takes an integrated view of building technologies and materials assembled by builders. This research attempts to improve the technologies applied by the builders by emphasizing the cultural context which enables us to provide an integrated explanation. The behavior of structure and material is kept as the focus of investigation. The different case study buildings are selected from upper Bhaktapur (East) to lower Bhaktapur (West) with an assumption that the knowledge may be generalized to the other buildings as well.
The main findings reveal that Newar residential dwellings are constructed of brick masonry with mud mortar and timber. The architecture of traditional dwelling is a product of different professionals. Different structure assembling techniques in different parts of the building, detail information on building materials and functional space allocation and terminologies used in building construction are described because each terminology is a meaningful invention of our past tradition on building construction technology.

This paper examines the equational identity (El) construction in Nigeria's Edoid language Emai. It weighs this construction's grammatical properties against a complex of equational identity patterns developed in the crosslinguistic investigations of Stassen (1997). Although EI properties reveal its functional heritage, they fail to conform fully to Stassen's findings. While EI noun phrases are sensitive to information structure and definiteness values, the construction as a whole fails to exhibit crucial features. It evinces no third person limitation, manifests limited predicational structure, and demonstrates compatibility with a restricted range of temporal categories, although not indicative tense/aspect. It is the last of these that highlights the EI construction's obligatory subjunctive marking and its non-deictic temporal character.

This paper provides a well-founded approach to the type of complex predicate where two syntactic elements serve as a single predicate in Czech. Czech complex predicates are composed of so-called ‘Verbe support(fr.)’ in the verbal part and predicative nouns in nominal part. This type of construction can be found inter-linguistically in many of languages, such as Czech, English and Korean that are typologically different. The study of the complex predicates lies in the question of ‘to what extent can the syntactic and semantic properties of multi-word units be deduced from the properties of their respective parts.’ This study examines the fundamental grammatical properties of Czech complex predicates, the lexical and semantic properties of the Verbe support as a functional category and the predicative nouns as a semantic core of the construction, based on their complex interaction in the frame of the constructions with light verbs.

Abstract Van Trijp (2013, 2014) claims that Sign-Based Construction Grammar (SBCG) and Head-Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG) are fundamentally different from Fluid Construction Grammar (FCG). He claims that the former approaches are generative ones while the latter is a cognitive-functional one. I argue that it is not legitimate to draw these distinctions on the basis of what is done in FCG. Van Trijp claims that there are differences in the scientific model, the linguistic approach, formalization, the way constructions are seen, and in terms of processing. This paper discusses all these alleged differences. Van Trijp also claims that his cognitive-functional approach is superior in terms of completeness, explanatory adequacy, and theoretical parsimony. In order to facilitate a discussion and comparison, I introduce the reader to basic assumptions made in FCG and the analyses suggested by Van Trijp: I first deal with the representations that are used in FCG, talk about argument structure constructions, the combination operations fusion and merging that are used in FCG, I than discuss the analysis of nonlocal dependencies and show that the suggested FCG analysis is not explanatorily adequate since it is not descriptively adequate and that a full formalization of approaches with discontinuous constituents is not more parsimonious than existing HPSG analyses either. After the discussion of specific analyses, I then provide a detailed comparison of FCG and SBCG/HPSG and discuss questions like the competence/performance distinction, mathematical formalization vs. computer implementation, fuzziness and fluidity in grammars, and permissiveness of theories. I conclude that HPSG, SBCG, and FCG belong to the same family of theories and that all claims to the contrary are unjustified.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article investigates the syntactic and semantic properties of complex predicates in Persian in order to isolate the individual contributions of the verbal components. The event structure of causative alternation and unergative verbs is determined, based on a decomposition of the verbal construction into primitive syntactic elements consisting of lexical roots and functional heads, with the latter projecting all arguments of the verbal construction. An analysis is provided whereby the argument structure is not projected from the lexicon but is formed compositionally by the conjunction of the primitive components of the complex predicate in syntax. The dual behaviour of Persian complex predicates as lexical and syntactic elements, which has been attested in Persian literature on light verb constructions, follows naturally from the analysis proposed since there is no strict division between the level of word formation and the component manipulating phrasal constructs.

Abstract:
The following paper examines the syntactic construction and functional variety of nominative participial constructions in Contemporary English, focusing on the syntactic economy provided by nominative participial constructions and the contribution to discourse clarity. Based on examples from the British National Corpus and the Corpus of Contemporary American English, this chapter discusses how these sorts of structure embed delicate actions or states into sentences without elaborate clause structures. This chapter will explore how nominative participial constructions serve these discourse functions through the use of examples from academic, journalistic, and literary registers-foregrounding information, summarizing preceding actions, and emphatic purposes. The study also provides comparative insights into nominative participial constructions in relation to other forms of non-finite clauses, such as gerunds, which uniquely allow for condensation with a clearly identifiable subject even in highly reduced syntactic environments. In all, these findings contribute to a view that nominative participial constructions in English represent an instance of embodiment of the functional-syntactic interface: conciseness vs. richness of description, contributing to a more flexible and expressive syntax.

Abstract:
Introduction. Engineering solutions of construction facilities are becoming obsolete due to the impact of scientific and technological progress, changes in consumer needs and production capabilities of the construction industry. A gap between consumer needs and characteristics of construction products is bridged by updating, modernizing, retrofitting and transforming design solutions.
Materials and methods. The subject of the study is capital construction facilities that have various functional purposes: they structure built-up urban areas (space planning), whose urban planning solutions need reengineering in the course of operation. The article considers the list of capital construction entities that include industrial facilities (manufacturing, agricultural, and communication facilities), non-industrial facilities (public buildings, residential housing) and linear objects (overpasses, pipelines, power grids). Functional, planning, structural, organizational and technological features of capital construction facilities, features of vital processes, production and technological procedures, that are underway inside them, determine the characteristic differences in the composition and structure of construction reengineering. Structural and functional analysis is the research method of the study.
Results. The composition of actions and methods used to reengineer residential and industrial buildings, areas occupied by the engineering and transport infrastructure is described. The article presents changes introduced by reengineering actions with regard for the features of facilities that structure urban development. The co-authors acknowledge that the structure and composition of construction reengineering are highly variable, and their variability is determined by the types of built-up areas and their transformation methods. This dependence impacts a combination of reengineering actions, including those that determine the nature of transformation and supplement the principal change. The research results allow to develop reengineering process organization charts and outline the resource provision process.

Abstract This paper suggests two possible ways in which cognitively-oriented constructionist approaches (Cognitive Construction Grammar, Radical Construction Grammar, and Embodied Construction Grammar) could enhance the explanatory power of constructions. First, the anatomy of a construction should spell out how the morphosyntactic realizations of arguments are specifically mapped onto their inherent semantico-pragmatic properties, while also including detailed information concerning illocutionary force, information structure, register, politeness, etc. Second, it is argued that coercion should be best understood as a continuum allowing for varying degrees of (in-)compatibility between the verb and the construction taken as a whole. Moreover, parameterization and linguistic cueing prove useful to handle the dynamic interaction of the morphosyntactic, semantico-pragmatic, and discourse-functional hallmarks of constructions, including those which invite metonymic inferencing.

Abstract This paper analyzes the syntactic properties of the “ba-construction” or “disposal form” in Mandarin Chinese under new theoretical frameworks. By introducing the event-decomposition method proposed by Ramchand (2008), it argues that the ba-construction conveys the causativity and the resultativity of the event at the same time, which can be shown from the syntactic representation. Then, this paper tests the position of ba, assuming that it is a functional head, and the result of the test indicates that ba is a voice head in the hierarchy of functional projections proposed by Cinque (1999, 2006). The final word order of a ba-construction can be derived by the argument movement of the direct object and by a head movement of ba or by the merge of ba at the head position of the higher functional head of a split VoiceP.

Abstract:
This article sheds new light on the puzzling phrase structure of complex adjectival phrases which are common in Semitic, specifically in Hebrew, and which are equivalent to Indo-European phrases such as ‘swift of foot.’ The article draws a clear distinction between these constructions and adjectival compounds such as ‘swift-footed’, which are prevalent in major Indo-European languages but are absent from Semitic languages. The Hebrew construction under discussion is a genitival construct consisting of an adjective followed by a modifying noun in genitive status. The adjective is the head of the construction, but agrees in number and gender with a noun outside the construction. This construction has invited controversial analyses by different scholars, most recently in the framework of generative grammar. The present study construction is anchored in the framework of Construction Grammar. It nevertheless advances a morphosyntactic and semantic analysis of its inner composition. Functional aspects and the speaker’s perspectival choice in construing such attributive phrases are taken into account as well.

In response to the increasing occurrences of beach erosion along Surfers Paradise and Main Beaches - Gold Coast, Australia, the Northern Gold Coast Beach Protection Strategy [NGCBPS] was developed to widen the beach by 20-30m as well as improving surfing conditions as a secondary objective. The strategy, implemented in 1999- 2000, involved large-scale beach nourishment and construction of a submerged breakwater “reef” to act as a control point at Narrowneck. Construction of the reef involved innovative filling and placement methods using very large sand filled geotextile containers coupled with significant advances with regards to design of the geotextile material and containers. In the 11 years since construction, there has been substantial monitoring of the project since its completion in late 2000 including: - video imaging using webcams; hydrographic and beach surveys; aerial and oblique photography; surf and surf safety observations and GPS surfing track plots; and geotextile container condition and stability. This paper presents an update on the performance of the reef over the last four years. In particular, the response of the structure and the shoreline to a series of major storm events in 2009 has been examined. The results have shown that the erosion caused by these major events was accommodated within the wider beach created in 1999. Over the next 2 years there was a gradual recovery in the lee of the reef with a subtle groyne effect resulting in an even larger increase in the width of the updrift beach. A detailed underwater condition survey was also undertaken in 2011, to determine changes in the condition of the geotextile containers. This revealed a number of containers missing or damaged, and that seaward containers were covered by sand. The marine habitat which has been a feature of the reef has been impacted by the increased coverage of sand, but still shows high abundance and biodiversity.

Full text
Abstract:
After comparing two functional approaches to the question of Old English deviant accusatives, genitives and datives, this paper follows Martín Arista (2001a, b) with respect to Old English prototypical verbal constructions: the prototypical transitive construction is defined as the active accomplishment version of verbs like writan 'write', the activity implementation of creation and consumption verbs representing the less-prototypical transitive construction; the active accomplishment use of verbs such as faran 'go' characterize the prototypical intransitive construction, whereas the activity version of motion verbs define the less-prototypical intransitive construction. The conclusion is reached that quirky case is not a feature of the morphosyntax of certain intransitive verbs of state and causative state, but a characteristic of verbal constructions that, deviating from both the transitive and the intransitive prototypes, show not only case-marking irregularity but also more case-marking choices than verbs that abide by the transitive or intransitive prototype. Since marked morphosyntax -including quirky case- is considered in this paper a consequence of the non-prototypical character of argument structure, it is claimed that the relationship between canonical lexical templates and their configurations should be semantically and syntactically motivated. The Principle of Lexical Template Instantiation guarantees the suitable degree of implementation of a lexical template by stipulating that, prototypically, all the internal variables of the instantiations of lexical templates are fully specified

Abstract:
Background. The study is devoted to the problem of semantic features of introductory constructions (hereinafter referred to as IC). Currently, we are considering the synthesis of the main and introductory sentences with a single complex syntactic construction, in which the introductory sentence is semantically and grammatically connected to the main sentence as an organizing center. Since introductory constructions have additional semantic features and are sometimes able to influence with their help the general meaning of a newly formed utterance, it seems appropriate to consider their functions and the reasons for their use by the author of the utterance. The article substantiates the uniqueness of semantic relations between the components of the structure, characterized by a specific functional feature and a feature of the internal form of semantic relations. The aim of the study is defined as the identification of specific features of the introductory construction that can disrupt the structure of the actualized utterance and express additional communicative intentions of the author. Materials and methods. The research is based on comparative and descriptive methods. The research material was a continuous selection of examples of works of art by French and German authors. Results. As a result of the observation of introductory constructions, it was concluded that IC can be considered as an attempt by the author to clarify his information, his desire for detail, explanation, which leads to a complication of the syntactic structure. However, the author's attempt to correct the expression of thought facilitates the perception of the utterance, which leads to a simplification of the semantic structure of the utterance. The modal specificity of IC can then be considered as a reflection of the speaker's particular intentions, his pragmatic orientation depending on the situation created by the new semantic construction.

Function structures are used during conceptual engineering design to transform the customer requirements into specific functional tasks. Although they are usually constructed from a well-understood black-box description of an artifact, there is no clear approach or formal set of rules that guide the creation of function structures. To remedy the unclear formation of such structures and to provide the potential for automated reasoning of such structures, a graph grammar is developed and implemented. The grammar can be used by a designer to explore various solutions to a conceptual design problem. Furthermore, the grammar aids in disseminating engineering functional information and in teaching the function structure concept to untrained engineers. Thirty products are examined as a basis for developing the grammar rules, and the rules are implemented in an interactive user environment. Experiments with student engineers and with the automated creation of function structures validate the effectiveness of the grammar rules.

To a large extend sustainable construction of any structure greatly depends on the materials used in its formation. Traditionally, materials such as bricks, mortar, steels are still important components of most buildings. But modern technology is equally changing how materials are created and used.Based on the above explanation, the objective of this paper was to compare the steel structures with basalt fiber reinforced concrete. As basalt fiber is still not wide spread, this paper focus on the advantages, usages and applications of basalt fiber reinforced concrete to solve construction and structural challenges. The method and analysis used in this paper was derived from research and works done by previous authors on similar topics. Previous research information show that producers and users of these materials make choice of building materials to depend on the area the structure is proposed to be built and on the taste and ideas given by the client. Their consideration is often devoid of environmental, psychological, social and economy factors. The research methods lead to the understanding on the use and importance of basalt fiber concrete for landfills, leachate reservoirs and multifunctional structure. This paper helps structural users and engineers to know that green materials with good environmental characteristics that support nature are being considered as best construction materials due to what they are composed of. Waste and cost are also crucial as far as construction materials are concern. Even now, management of waste products from landfills specially leachates requires better construction designs in tropical region like Nigeria. More so, in line with the recent safe the climate calls, efforts to select the kind of material used in raising structures are becoming unavoidable.

Abstract:
In the process of designing structures from inhomogeneous materials, there is the need to build discrete models that consider the peculiarities of the geometrical shape of subdomains from different materials. The first stage in the modeling of such structures is the construction of a geometric model. In order to describe the shapes of inhomogeneous structures, we have proposed a functional approach, based on the use of systems of implicit functions and R-functions. The first implicit function defines the shape of a structure. The implicit functions starting from a second one determine the shapes of the subdomains whose boundaries must be considered when building a discrete model. Each implicit function within the system exceeds zero at inner points of the respective domain or subdomain, is equal to zero at the border, and is less than zero at outer points. The result is a possibility to describe the shapes of domains and subdomains of arbitrary complexity. We have constructed a method for the triangulation of structures from inhomogeneous materials, whose shape is assigned functionally. The devised method makes it possible to consider the shape of subdomains from different materials used in the structure. The basic idea of the method implies consistent correction of coordinates for the nodes from the primary triangulation of the domain. Primary triangulation can be arbitrary, but it must fully capture the structure. At each step, the boundary of the structure or a subdomain from a particular material is approached by the node closest to the respective boundary. Following the displacement of each node, the coordinates of neighboring nodes are computed by minimizing the functional of exponents in the planes of incident elements. At the same time, for the elements that are incident at nodes and whose coordinates were changed, meeting the Delaunay condition is checked; if necessary, the operation «flip» is performed to change the diagonal. Upon removing the outer nodes, one would obtain a discrete model in which the boundaries of the structure and subdomains from different materials are approximated by nodes and edges of elements.

Objectives Definition of general principles for constructing indexing systems for elements of finite sets.Method. Building a model of the indexing process. Definition of general rules for assigning attributes - indices to elements of sets.Result. The general principle of constructing indexing systems for elements of sets and their aggregates is proposed. The basis of the proposed indexing principle is the mandatory presence of functional relationships between the values of the element indices. The main sign of differences in indexing systems is the difference in functional dependencies between the values of the indices of the environment elements. Indexing systems determine the structural properties of sets and their aggregates. A change in indexing systems predetermines a change in structure. This allows one to form sets, sets with different structures from elements of the initial configurations, and change their structural properties.Conclusion. A general principle is proposed for constructing systems for indexing elements of sets and their aggregates, based on which are functional dependencies between element indices. Changes in the used functional dependencies between the element indices, as shown in the work, allows one to form combinatorial configurations with different structural properties. The indexing system is a set of rules for assigning to the elements sets of attributes - indices, ensuring their visibility and communication with the environment and determining their structural properties. At the heart of the construction of any structures and indexing systems are some common basic principles for their construction. They are illustrated based on the indexing systems used in classical algebra. Based on the results of a study of the principles of constructing indexing systems, a generalized model of indexing systems is proposed. As a general principle, which is a general principle of constructing indexing systems, a system of functional dependencies between the values of the indices of an element of sets and the values of the indices of the elements of its environment is proposed as a model.

The article aims to develop recommendations for improving the mechanism of monitoring the economic efficiency of implementing the system-functional approach in the management of innovative development of construction enterprises. During the research, there was used morphological analysis – to structure the object of study, models and methods of system analysis, tools for forming topological spaces and axiomatics of set theory – to explain object monitoring's logic Bayesian equation – estimate the probability of alternative events. As a result of the study, the object of monitoring is morphologically structured, topologies for analysis of the state of the object of monitoring are presented, and equations for estimating the probability of alternative events that characterize changes in the object of monitoring are constructed. The scientific novelty of the study lies in improving the mechanism for monitoring the economic efficiency of the system-functional approach in the management of innovative development of construction enterprises, which, unlike the existing ones, is based on morphological analysis tools, identification of topological and metric spaces, construction and solution of Bayes' equations. The practical value of the research results lies in developing methodological tools for managing the innovative development of construction companies based on a system-functional approach, particularly in terms of improving the monitoring mechanism. The author's proposals can be used in practical business structures (construction companies) of all forms of ownership.

Abstract:
Tomasello's stimulating review of Goldberg's (1995) book, Constructions: a construction grammar approach to argument structure, raises several themes worthy of discussion. Tomasello suggests numerous reasons why functional and cognitive linguistic approaches in general, and Goldberg's approach in particular, are central to current work in child language. In my commentary I will summarize Tomasello's central claims about what he sees as significant about Goldberg's book, and I will raise the question of whether construction grammar – rather than any other cognitive or functional approach – is worth pursuing. While generally sympathetic to Goldberg's approach, I will discuss two issues that I think are worthy of further consideration in future research.Tomasello highlights three very important reasons why he believes Goldberg's approach makes a significant contribution to child language research. First, he states that construction grammar provides a way of understanding language development as a whole, and not just particular aspects of language development, such as core grammar. Second, Tomasello characterizes Goldberg's approach as noteworthy because it provides a way of relating language development to other domains of human cognition. A third advantage, Tomasello claims, is that construction grammar allows for the view of language development as protracted (e.g. not instantaneous), something Tomasello suggests fits well with his own research findings (see Tomasello, 1992).

Abstract:
Serial constructions are a prominent feature of Khmer syntax. Their structural-semantic types are basically the same as we find in other languages. However, due to monosyllabic nature of meaning-bearing units and isolating type of Khmer grammar they acquire structural and functional features which are not found in serial constructions in languages of non-isolating profile. That is the reason why syntactic analysis of a Khmer sentence with serial constructions can be a challenge. The present research deals with such features as multicomponent composition and structural diversity of units comprising a serial construction, functional diversity of serial constructions in sentence structure and their transformational potential. Some structural-semantic types of serial constructions can host many positions or slots, which can be obligatory or optional. Slots can be filled with units of different types: single verbs, lexical complexes (lиəс sdap ‘to eavesdrop’, lit. ‘to steal, to do secretly — to listen’), serial constructions (sdap lɯɯ ‘to hear’, lit. ‘to listen — to hear’), coordinate predicates. In sentence structure serial constructions can perform several functions, i.e., be head predicates in main or subordinate clauses, act as components of coordinated structures together with single verbs, lexical complexes, or serial constructions. Khmer serial constructions can undergo transformations of different types, i.e., deletion or addition of slots; synonymous repeat of slots; decomposition (fragmentation) when a slot is excorporated from the construction with its subsequent presentation as a separate independent predication; semantic incorporation of a slot is also possible, which is similar to the “transferred epithet” figure of speech, in that case the meaning of a slot is incorporated into another one.

Abstract:
The article presents the methodology of ensuring the functional stability of aircraft avionics complexes under the influence of failure and destabilizing factors. It is based on the procedure of maintaining valid knowledge bases of individual modules of the avionics complex through the organization of dynamic verification of such knowledge bases during their application on the principle of the probabilistic diagnostic core with system recovery without significant restructuring of verification means. The results of calculations of indicators of functional stability of the integrated avionics complex of the D-42 aircraft are presented in the article. To increase the efficiency of the integrated avionics complex under conditions of destabilizing influences, the optimal structure of the avionics complex of the D-42 aircraft was synthesized according to the criterion of the maximum indicator of functional stability with the limitation of the cost of construction the system. In the calculations, an increase in the generalized indicator of functional stability was achieved in comparison with the original structure by 30.8 % (from 294.2 to 384.9) for the given conditional cost 20,000 с.u. It is the most acceptable according to the generalized indicator of functional stability, as a criterion of preference under the specified cost limitations and taking into account the limitations of other parameters of the effective operation of the complex. Increasing the functional stability of the avionics complex according to the presented methodology will allow timely detection of implicit failures and parry their consequences. Based on the results of these studies there is a possibility: substantiation of requirements for the structures of avionics complexes to be designed, solving the problem of synthesis of optimal structure on the criterion of maximum functional stability with limited construction costs, as well as a reasonable increase in the structure of the distributed system of the aircraft avionics complex.

Abstract:
Purpose. The main purpose of the work is to define and substantiate the principles, functional requirements and objectives of the implementation of information and analytical support for the management of waste streams of construction and wracking as secondary resources; development of the organizational and functional structure of the information-analytical management system, which would satisfy the conditions for the introduction of a logistical approach within the framework of integrated management of construction waste streams and became the basis for creating a single information platform. Methodology. As a methodological basis for the research of the process of managing the secondary resources streams and reversible streams in the construction industry, a logistic approach is used. It involves the analysis of factors influencing the system and study of its dynamic behavior as a complex adaptive system. The system approach in the development of information-analytical management systems involves solving the following tasks: development of a functional model of the management system of construction and wracking waste streams; construction of interaction matrices of automated processes and data routing processes; modeling the logical architecture of the data warehouses; development of a software and hardware set. Findings. The main tasks of developing information support for the logistics management system of construction and wracking waste streams are substantiated. The integration into the system of the following functional blocks is proposed: database formation; block for estimating the total economic costs of the process; environmental damage assessment blocks; information risk assessment; evaluation of alternative methods of waste stream management; optimal route formation block; visualization block. Based on the generalization of requirements and possibilities of the functionality analyzed information-analytical systems and requirements which would provide efficiency of construction waste streams management, the organizational-functional structure of the system of information-analytical management is proposed. Originality. The work gives reasons for the inclusion in the list of functional blocks of the organizational and functional structure of the information-analytical management system, which should be the basis for creating an information platform for the management of construction and wracking waste streams, environmental and information risk assessment. Practical value. Implementation within the information-analytical management of environmental damage assessment (as part of the efficiency assessment of the construction waste streams) and information risk assessment (as a tool of logistical approach) will provide the ability to predict key system indicators, make optimal decisions aimed at maximum inclusion of construction waste streams in the system as a potential secondary raw material, a sufficient level of economic and environmental efficiency with the optimal level of logistics costs.

Abstract:
It is well-established that (non-linguistic) categorization is driven by a functional demand of prediction. We suggest that prediction likewise may well play a role in motivating the learning of semantic generalizations about argument structure constructions. We report corpora statistics that indicate that the argument frame or construction has roughly equivalent cue validity as a predictor of overall sentence meaning as the morphological form of the verb, and has greater category validity. That is, the construction is at least as reliable and more available than the verb. Moreover, given the fact that many verbs have quite low cue validity in isolation, attention to the contribution of the construction is essential.
