Abstract:
This article delves into the intricate cognitive and linguistic dimensions of the term “frame” within contemporary linguistics. Originally introduced in artificial intelligence to organize databases, the concept of a frame has evolved to become a pivotal tool in linguistic analysis, enabling the depiction of diverse worldviews inherent to different languages. A frame is conceptualized as a structure comprising nodes (concepts) and connections, functioning akin to gestalt units by integrating sensory and rational elements. Charles Fillmore's definition positions frames as cognitive structures associated with the knowledge represented by words, encompassing both linguistic and extralinguistic information.

Abstract:
In this review essay, I describe some basic problems in the research into the legal language that are methodologically connected to linguistic and philosophical pragmatics. I call this area of knowledge pragmatic legal linguistics. Pragmatic legal linguistics deals with the processes that are constitutive of the emergence of meaning in law. Its basic concepts are coined in the course of developments in linguistic and philosophical pragmatics. It applies pragmatic theoretical approaches to clarify the functioning of the legal language and discovers new areas of pragmatic relevance in the research into the legal language. The final goal of pragmatic legal linguistics is to re-formulate our laws in accordance with linguistic findings about the use of language.

Currently, scientific research identifying specific linguistic and cognitive, linguistic, and cultural features of the nomination of mineralogical units as the main factors in developing world linguistics is becoming important. A scientifically detailed study of the system of names of precious stones and minerals actively used in a separate terminology system for this industry is necessary to develop mineralogical industry vocabulary. This requires a linguocognitive and linguocultural analysis of mineralogical terms in the context of unrelated languages, determining their characteristics.

Syzonov, Dmytro. "Evaluation as category of modern phraseology." Actual issues of Ukrainian linguistics: theory and practice, no. 37 (2018): 39–53. http://dx.doi.org/10.17721/apultp.2018.37.39-53.

Full text
Abstract:
The article analyzes the category of evaluation as dominant characteristics of modern phraseology. A wide range of scientific views on evaluation within the framework of new linguistic directions (media linguistics, legal linguistics, suggestive linguistics, political linguistics, psycholinguistics etc.) is considered. The immanence of evaluation in modern linguistics has become particularly relevant in the theory of functionalism, where the evaluation of a phraseologism is judged as not an optional feature, but one which underlies its semantics. The evaluation, accordingly, is considered with respect to the initial emotional-expressive connotation of a phraseologism. It is proved that value parameters of phraseology are laid down in its communicative essence, as any phraseologism a priori carries some sort of evaluation. If we regard evaluation as an oppositional set of value orientations (good/evil, beautiful/ugly, interesting/uninteresting, many/few, etc.), we can define a phraseologism as a verbalized form of such oppositions in the communication process. Logically, when creating new phraseologisms (e.g. in mass communication) it is the category of evaluation that determines the vector of functioning of phraseology. Hence, media phraseology is a mirror image of sentiments and value beliefs of a certain society and is relevant in the time frame (which is an extralinguistic characteristics of a media phraseologism and a basis for its further functioning and mass reproduction). We have proven that phraseological evaluation is influenced by extralinguistic factors such as politics, culture, information technologies, etc. The emergence of a new phraseology is the result of evaluative reconsideration of traditional linguistic forms of certain industries – sports, arts, medicine, education, etc. Consequently, evaluation is a universal category of a phraseologism, considering the fact of formation of society’s values through language phenomena. The axiology of each phraseologism is determined in social parameters, where media remains the main tool for the retransmission of society’s value orientations through the means of language, the main of which are phraseologisms.

The paper presents a review of the "Studia Ukrainica Varsoviensia" journal for its ten-year existence (2013–2022) on the occasion of the anniversary. The author analyzes the content of the journal focusing mainly upon the Ukrainian and comparative linguistics issues being projected on the units of all the language system levels, as well as the theory and practice of artistic translation. The paper finds that the issues of the journal articles are related to such modern linguistic trends as linguocultural studies and linguoconceptology, psycholinguistics, linguistic personality theory and linguoemotionology, theolinguistics and linguoaxiology, political and communicative linguistics, as well as text linguistics, discourse linguistics, linguistic genre studies, diary studies and linguistic expertise. Many research papers are written in the fi eld of traditional linguistics, in particular Ukrainian dialectology, the Ukrainian language history and all the branches of the modern Ukrainian language study (phonetics and phonology, word formation, lexicology, including terminology and paremiology; grammar, including morphology and syntax; as well as stylistics). The researchers are particularly interested in the problems of onomastics and modern Ukrainian sociolinguistics. The authors of the research papers under consideration updated the main methodological principles of modern linguistics: anthropocentrism, word, text- and discourse-centrism, interdisciplinarity, linguistic cognitivism, pragmatism, functionalism, structuralism, as well as the language philosophy postulates: semantics, syntactics and pragmatics.

Abstract:
A new interpretation is given to the most complex theoretical problem – the relation of concepts relation – value – function. The relations in language are the relations reflected by thinking between the linguistic meanings, which in turn reflect the ‟substances” of reality comprehended by the mind. The term-concept of relation in linguistics includes a potential or already defined linguistic form of expression of the relation – the linguistic form has a meaning that manifests itself in speech as a function. The meaning represents the ‟sign content of the form” in the language system, turning into a categorical meaning that does not depend on the context, representing the invariant form of any syntactic structure. The function is realised in speech, being filled with connotative meanings, claiming to be expressed by new linguistic forms of varieties of categorical meaning.

Abstract:
Bruno Migliorini, Esperanto and Lingvotekniko The essay explores the influence that the debate on Esperanto and Planned Languages in the 1920s and 1930s had on the development of Bruno Migliorini’s linguistics. Specifically, the first part of the work examines the entries Esperanto and Internazionali, Lingue, that the author wrote for the Enciclopedia Italiana. The second part extends the analysis to some of Migliorini’s Esperanto essays and shows how the study of Planned languages contributed to the elaboration of the theoretical assumptions of glottotecnica (lingvotekniko). As Tullio De Mauro noted, the editorial experience at the Enciclopedia was also fundamental in this process, since it stimulated the linguist’s attention towards technical-scientific terminologies and nourished his considerations on the functioning mechanisms of linguistic systems, both natural and artificial.

Abstract:
Belarusian linguistic terminology: some problems of functioning and fixationThe article considers functioning and fixation of the Belarusian linguistic terminology. Scientific papers, textbooks for schools and universities, terminological and generalpurpose dictionaries are under consideration.Brief excursus on the history of the Belarusian linguistics showed the diversity and randomness of the terms creation processes. Contradictions in the views of linguists on the development of the Belarusian linguistics and terminology were revealed: on the one hand, the orientation on Russian terminological system, on the other hand there is an intention to turn terminology to the national direction. Simultaneously internationalization of terminology, the process typical for other Slavic languages, occurs. This article demonstrates inconsistencies in the use of Belarusian terms indefinite pronoun and definite/indefinite article (and some other terms) in scientific, educational literature and in various dictionaries. The article argues that Russian terminological system prevails in education and subsequently affects the discourse of Belarusian linguistics. The author believes that another problem of Belarusian terminology is a relatively small amount of a Belarusian linguistics discourse and limited subjects of studies, which does not allow to settle the terms. In these difficult circumstances, an appeal to the experience of other Slavic languages with a more developed system of terminology and with an extensive linguistic discourse can help.

Abstract:
Today the Russian language has gone beyond Russia and forms the planetary Russian-speaking world, so Russian language studies, whose subject matter is traditionally considered the literary form of the language, seeks to reach a new level of comprehension of both the language and individual facts. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that at the present stage ideas of synthesis come to the fore in linguistics, there are tendencies to develop a theory of language integrating the latest achievements of different areas of linguistics on a single basis. In accordance with this, the aim of the research is to compare the regulative concept of language in the works of A.N. Rudyakov with the works of other linguists in order to establish the key features and principles of a new linguistic paradigm and define language as a regulatory system based on linguistic functionalism. Deductive, analytical-theoretical and modeling methods describe the current state of the scientific linguistic paradigm and general linguistic problems associated with the concepts under study. The key features of the modern scientific linguistic paradigm are established, since without defining theoretical guidelines, modern language science loses its practical value. As a result, the authors substantiated that the new paradigm is not only an appeal to new material and new research methods, but the creation of a fundamentally new theory that will take into account the role of language in society, its ontological, functional essence. Based on the definition of the key features of the functional approach to the language and its units, the authors demonstrate that linguistics not only borders on other sciences, but is in some way an integral part of them, the basis of the human Universe. In the future, the presented material allows us to see that the change of the scientific paradigm, despite the objective difficulties, today is a prerequisite for the further development of linguistics. It also outlines a range of theoretical and practical tasks that modern linguistics faces and which can be solved within the framework of a new paradigm.

Abstract:
The article is aimed at defining cognitive concepts and principles in Kazakh linguistics based on research papers that measure the nature of the language and the semantics of the word in the context of their functioning. The analysis of the conceptual system and cognitive paradigm in the cognitive theory of the Kazakh language is becoming an urgent problem of modern interdisciplinary science with the national identity and world practice. The cognitive theory, which originates from the spiritual and value heritage of the Kazakh people harmoniously combined the foundations of linguistic cognition, and also substantiated a wide conceptual block of the human capital’s cognition. Its complex patterns contributed to the accumulation of social, psychological, ethnic and cultural methodological foundations of normalized general and private linguistics. The possibility of comparing linguistic universals using the relationship between language and cognition also characterized the influence of anthropological, axiological, anthropo-typological, areal, and geneological factors. Thus, in the history of cognitive linguistics, which studies the laws of the environment and its linguistic picture, Kazakh linguistics has designated its research format, taking into account a number of conceptual operations.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the crucial role of language in constructing and expressing individual and group identities across diverse social and cultural contexts in Vietnam. This study integrates theoretical frameworks from Gee's work on discourse and identity, and Bucholtz and Hall's principles on the linguistic construction of identity. Methods: The study employs a mixed-methods approach combining ethnographic observations, in-depth interviews, and discourse analysis to gain deep insights into the complex interplay between linguistic practices and identity formation processes. Results: The key findings reveal that language serves as a powerful tool for constructing multifaceted identities, with linguistic choices functioning as identity markers, enabling the expression of group membership, the establishment of boundaries, and the negotiation of power relations within and across communities. These findings provide deep insights into understanding the role of language in shaping identities in Vietnam. Discussion: The study has practical applications in developing comprehensive, equitable, and culturally-sensitive language resources, educational strategies, and language policies to recognize and value the linguistic diversity of multilingual communities.

Abstract:
The paper addresses the issue related to the functioning of terminological elements in the metalanguage of legal linguistics. The study aims to identify the semantic features of the term “genre” functioning in legal-linguistic discourse. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the term “genre” has become the subject of research taking into consideration its functioning in a new scientific discourse, i.e., legal-linguistic discourse, for the first time. The term “genre” is quite often encountered in theoretical texts, as well as in research materials, i.e., in texts of a practical nature. The meanings embedded in the term “genre” are examined and analyzed, specifically those from explanatory and specialized linguistic dictionaries. The results of the study show that a new semantic charge has been discovered in legal-linguistic discourse, which is not recorded in any of the existing definitions to date, namely, the meaning of the method of analyzing linguistic material, providing the opportunity for interpreting not only explicit but also implicit semantic charge of the data presented for analysis.

Abstract:
It is proved that the imperative of modern linguistic science is a multiparadigmatic approach in the study of existing facts of language and speech, which is manifested in the priority of three basic principles: explanatoriness, anthropocentrism and functionalism. During this study we found that the complexity of approaches in research provides objectivity and completeness of knowledge about the phenomena under study and allows to solve urgent problems. In this regard, we made an attempt to show the ways of studying the problem of inner valence of morphemes in various areas of modern linguistics (on the material of newspaper discourse neologisms). Attention is paid to the solution of the problem of valence in the direction of sociolinguistics, which allows to establish the non-linguistic causes of the emergence of new words and explore through the neologisms the space of the language functioning outside its autochthonous territory. We analyze body of neolexical item in author card index records and its wordbuilding processes in the discourse activity of Russian-speaking mass media of Kazakhstan, allows us to conclude that extra-linguistic factors causing the birth of new categories include the politicization of society, the adoption of western economic system, the rapid technical development.

Abstract:
This study aims to assess the evidence regarding the relationship between previous and new schools of linguistics. According to Kuhn (1970), old linguistic paradigms incorporate vocabulary and apparatus from previous or traditional paradigms. In particular, this review addresses the Question: Do new paradigms in linguistic arise from old or previous ones, as Kuhn suggested? The study is significant in understanding emerging schools of linguistics based on previous ones. A qualitative literature review was applied to compare new and old schools of linguistics. According to the findings, there is substantial evidence that functionalism, structuralism, and Transformational-Generative Grammar support Kuhn's argument. Most notably, the changes of the transformational-generative grammar from a consistent and straightforward Standard Theory to an improved Extended Standard Theory, and finally, to the Minimalist Program, point towards the same conclusion. Interestingly, the transformations demonstrate how new paradigms arise from old paradigms without borrowing many concepts, terms, and experiments from them. This study draws the attention of linguists in the 21st Century to pay closer attention to the trends in schools of linguistics.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to consider the process of secondary nomination in Polish linguistic terminology of Middle Polish (ХVI cen. — 80-th. XVIII cent.) and New Polish (80-th. XVIII cen. — begin. ХХ c.) periods, when did its originate and form. The objects of study are term units, which designate conceptions in the sphere of linguistics, which is fixed in lexicographical and methodological literature of Middle Polish and New Polish periods. The subjects of research are notable secondary nominations as universal dynamic term creative process in the system of linguistic terminology of the Polish language. Common science and special linguistic methods are used in the article. Thanks to induction and deduction, analysis, and synthesis we managed to make a theoretical conclusion systematization of fixed linguistic material. Describing and comparative methods are used for the explanation of the semantic construction of special lexemes, their origin, and functioning. Componential analysis is used for finding common components of term units meaning, which were created using secondary nomination. During the research, we got to the conclusion, that the most productive type of secondary nomination was terminologization. Among terminologizated lexemes, we isolate the names of grammatical categories, which formed the core of researched terminology and helped to form derivative nominations. The process of secondary nomination comes forward as a result of the development of a linguistical term system in the Polish language, caused by the realization of cognitive function of the language, generalization of science experience, and deepening of existing knowledge about linguistic notions. The perspective of the research are in comparative studying of semantic processes in linguistic terminologies of Polish and other Slavic languages.

Abstract:
In modern linguistics, topical issues of constructing a linguistic color picture and the functioning of color lexemes in the linguistic picture of the world and, in particular, artistic discourse, are being actively developed. Artistic discourse is understood as a communication system, which is a synthesis of specific linguistic forms, information about reality, reflected in a text that is distinguished by its pragmatic content. The pragmatic level of artistic discourse is represented by an individual set of characteristic linguistic means. The most specific linguistic means are coloronyms that represent evaluative and emotional personal meanings that have a certain influencing potential. Color painting in artistic discourse is the most important expressive means, carries a deeply ideological, artistic, and emotional load. Language units with color semantics or coloronyms contribute not only to the creation of visual images but also carry additional information of emotional and expressive properties. The object of the research is the linguistic units denoting color, functioning in the language, mythopoetics, paremias, and literature in the Adyghe language. The subject of the research is the peculiarities of the manifestation and functioning of color painting in the Adyghe language and Adyghe literature, as well as the identification of the specifics of the coloristic embodiment of images in the works of Adyghe authors. The material of the research is based on the linguistic representations of color designations that form the «black-white-red» triad.

The relevance of using the experimental method, with the help of which it is possible to obtain indications of everyday consciousness, is also noticeable in the field of legal linguistics, in particular, for resolving controversial situations arising in cases of advertising. This article substantiates the need to use the experimental method in order to obtain objective conclusions in linguistic studies and examinations on advertising texts based on the analysis of the testimony of ordinary linguistic consciousness, and not on the introjection of a specialist-expert. A specific case of using the experimental method to solve a conflict situation associated with the functioning of an advertising text is considered. In this case, special attention is paid to the formulation of questions and the interpretation of the results of the experiment.

Abstract:
The article discusses the uniqueness of the conceptual categories of human behavior in linguistics’ functioning. Attention is focused on German and Ukrainian concepts in the context of their functioning in the language. The method of comparative analysis is used. Attention is drawn to the fact that, unlike the Ukrainian language, where the concepts “purpose” and (Ukrainian – “meta”) are used as synonyms, the definitions "weck” and "ziel” are distinguished in German. In the first case, “zweck” is an individual goal, already developed collectively, and the entire process of activity that leads to the achievement of the goal is fixed in the model. Secondly – “ziel” – is the concept of goal, associated with individual activities. This fact is explained by the historical and psycholinguistic features of the Germans. The connection of linguistics and psycholinguistics in this area is undeniable. The language, thinking and behavior of people are psychologically determined by linguistic phenomena that affect the formation of linguistic consciousness of human activity as a linguistic personality with its national originality of linguistic behavior. The solution of these issues in the context of the latest achievements of psychological and linguistic science and in accordance with modern methodological requirements makes up the conceptual basis, the problem structure, the content of scientific research on the problem of conceptual categories of human behavior. A goal is a key concept in concepts that describe any complex organic system or human behavior (primarily in understanding its purpose). It is characterized by a “concept of state” that a person or system strives for and for which it exists. This phenomenon is actively investigated by domestic and foreign scientists.

Abstract:
In connection with the deepening globalization processes and the interaction of scientists from different countries, the linguistic terminology systems of modern Slavic languages in the second half of the XX and at the beginning of the XXI century have been enlarged with new special units, which causes quantitative and qualitative changes in their composition, interest in the problems of the origin, formation and dynamics of this terminology system. The purpose of the study is to establish the regularity of the terminological nomination of linguistic concepts in the Middle and Modern Polish periods (XVI century – 1939). Taking into account the internal and external linguistic factors that influenced the formation and functioning of linguistics terminology in the Polish language, the basic methods of term formation (semantic, morphological, syntactic) are analyzed, confirming, on the one hand, the connection with the common language, and on the other hand, the uniqueness and specificity of the subject linguistic terminology corpus. The consolidation of a special nomination in Polish linguistic terminology at different chronological sections took place in stages. The transition of special words from one category to another (preterms → quasi-terms → terms) displays a system of complex changes in the branched term system of the subject area of linguistics.

Abstract:
The article reveals the nature of such fundamental problems of cognitive linguistics as linguistic categorization. The connection between the conceptualization and categorization processes as mental procedures of obtaining, processing, storing and reproducing information is shown. It is emphasized that hierarchical relations are objectified, particularly in dictionaries of linguistic terms. The formation of grammatical categories is qualified as secondary categorization. The development of nominations for the designation of the grammatical gender category in the Ukrainian language and, accordingly, the peculiarities of categorization of this class of words has been reproduced. It is noted that a linguistic term can be represented as an element of a system in which hierarchical relations are fixed. The main types of hierarchical relations between linguistic concepts are generic (hyper-hyponymous) and partitive (part and whole) relations. These relations are quite stable and independent of the context. It is proved that the study of the evolution of the grammatical categories of the Ukrainian language, which is based on the fixation and analysis of terminological nominations from different times, makes it possible to highlight the peculiarities of the mental processes that accompany their formation and modern functioning. Abstract:
The language interpretation as a marketing structure has recently become urgent, and the depending scientific expansion has led to the emergence of such a new interdisciplinary field of knowledge, as marketing linguistics. Marketing linguistics focuses on the special status of a language not only as a communication system, but also as a linguistic and economic phenomenon, the functioning of which can ensure the effectiveness and dynamism of macro- and microeconomic processes, primarily related to the promotion of certain products in certain market segments. However, marketing linguistics should be interested in combining marketing activities with the steps leading to the cultivation of the communicative space as a whole. The existing contradiction between exclusively economic and linguo-economic phenomena, which naturally include marketing and its objectively determined goal, and language as a set of pragmatically oriented and communicatively determined units, as well as ways of using such units, seems to take into account the ethical norms and linguistic-pragmatic specifics of the language units used in advertising discourse. Thus, the linguopragmatic parameters of marketing communications are a set of characteristics determining the specifics of the discourse/text, and include, in addition to the traditionally allocated parameters, the hierarchy of communicants, linguistic and cultural conditionality and predicted lacunarity in the texts’ translation and their embeddings in other linguocultures. Linguopragmatic parameterization of marketing communications involves the significantly expanded interpretation of one of the traditional orthological parameters: the inclusion of a variety of such norms as ethical and linguistic ones, as well as the dynamism. Linguopragmatic parameterization of marketing communications involves a significantly expanded interpretation of one of the traditional orthological parameters: the inclusion of ethical and linguistic type of norm in obligatory norms, as well as dynamism, linguistic and cultural specificity of such norms.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the stages of formation and development of corpus linguistics. The purpose of the article is to analyze various scientific approaches to the scientific significance of this linguistic discipline and identify a set of concepts and criteria that form the foundation of this field. Corpus linguistics is one of the most promising and rapidly developing areas of language research. Linguistics of the XIX century set as its goal the study of language as such, and linguistics of the XXI century sees the relevance of the research not in identifying absolute linguistic categories and meanings but in the practical application of linguistic knowledge. The relevance of the article is determined by the fact that the linguistic corpus contains a vast potential, which the scientific community has not fully comprehended since the text as the main object of corpus linguistics in various forms of its implementation is one of the central components systems of language and speech-thinking activity of a modern native speaker of any language. The content and volume of linguistic corpora of various kinds allow obtaining reliable information about the modern and real use of a particular term: the corpus becomes a tool for analyzing the functioning of this term both in the linguistic field of morphology, syntax, and vocabulary and in the theory and practice of translation, identifying the register of its formal or informal usage. The fundamental novelty of this studys results allows us to speak about the legitimacy of the creation of corpus dictionaries and corpus grammars of a new generation, developed and verified concerning a specific fixed corpus. Simultaneously, the author substantiates the proposition that the corpus nature of dictionaries and grammars increases their reliability and objectivity and avoids the subjectivity that is often characteristic of research-based solely on the intuition of a linguist. The corpus is a medium for obtaining new scientific data, the comprehension of which seems to be a priority for modern linguistic description and necessary in the scientific activity of a modern researcher. From our point of view, this article's relevance and novelty lie in the fact that the expediency of corpus research is an essential requirement of the time, associated with a new quality of linguistic reality and meeting the needs of modern society. The article examines the main stages of the formation of corpus linguistics as a scientific field, characterizes the scientific concepts and approaches inherent in each of these stages, provides an overview of the main conceptual provisions of corpus linguistics within the framework of domestic and foreign linguistics. The author analyzes in detail the polemics between representatives of various scientific directions and reveals the advantages of one or another approach, traces the similarities and differences between approaches to the study of corpora at various historical stages of their formation. The review's focus is the role and place of corpus studies of language in modern linguistics, comparison of the pro and contra arguments of the use of corpus technologies in linguistic description. Considerable attention is paid to the main criteria for the classification of corpora, a brief overview of the most famous corpora in history is offered, and the prospects for their use in various fields of modern language science are discussed.

Abstract:
The article considers possibility of applying the ecological-and-linguistic approach to the study of active processes that characterize the current state of the Russian language, text production, including electronic communication. The specificity of the ecological approach in linguistics, its distinction from the orthological approach, as well as the structural analysis of linguistic units are displayed, visible active processes that dominate in phonetics, vocabulary, graphic encoding and text creation are registered. The authors consider the usefulness of the ecological approach in linguistics, its distinction from the orthological approach, as well as the structural analysis of linguistic units. The analysis made provision for defining language democratization as the major trend, which is noted in word functioning, changes in phrase and sentence structures; numerous borrowings of words and parts of words from the English language support the globalization trend. There is a tendency in strengthening the subjective aspect of the text content in public communication that is marked by the shift towards evaluative-expressive-emotional colloquial speech style. The opposing trend is text intellectualization, it appeals to background knowledge of the reader, the use of abbreviated forms in information coding. The authors conclude that a long-term ecological monitoring of these trends and the use of the ecological-and-linguistic approach to classification of linguistic phenomena are required.

The ways of lexical representation of the spatial continuum as a component of the author’s linguistic world picture in the story by the neorealist writer I.A. Bunin “Sukhodol” are analyzed. Thus, the object of research is the concept of “Space”. The subject of research interest is the conceptual lexeme “Sukhodol”, which objectifies the spatial component of the author’s linguistic world picture in the story of the same name by I.A. Bunin. The concept of “Space” takes an important place in cognitive linguistics, therefore the relevance of the article, which consists in addressing the problem of lexical means of representing the world-modeling universal and the method of its description, is beyond doubt. The aim of the study is to identify the linguistic mechanisms of objectification of space in the short novel “Sukhodol”, formed by the toponym of the same name. The designated research goal is implemented in a number of tasks, consisting in the analysis of the peculiarities of the functioning of the toponym “Sukhodol” and its derivatives, in the identification and analysis of their role in the formation of the author’s linguistic world picture. The conclusion substantiates that the author’s linguistic world picture, an important component of which is space, has a conceptual nature, objectified by a system of individual means of lexical representation, an important place among which belongs to the conceptual lexeme “Sukhodol”. Abstract:
With the actualization of the evaluative and emotional aspects of understanding the linguistic world’s image (LWI), the linguistic paradigm includes the concepts of ‘evaluative world’s image’, ‘axiological world’s image’, ‘cultural and axiological world’s image’, which become the components of LWI. The purpose of the article: to outline the problems of theoretical and applied principles of the ‘axiological world’s image’ concept functioning in the modern linguistics. The stated goal motivates the solution of the following tasks: 1) to determine the achievements of the studies of the axiological world’s image in the linguistics of the XXI century; 2) to systematize and generalize the usage specifics of the analyzed term in linguistics; 3) to form a terminological minimum of research on the axiological world’s image (AWI). The object of exploration is the evaluative categorization, and the subject is the axiological world’s image as a result of the evaluative categorization. The emergence of a significant number of LWI studies in the last decade is due to the popularity of anthropological linguistics and is determined by the expansion of the subject of linguistics. AWI is a fragment of the universal LWI as a result of evaluative/evaluative-emotional comprehension of the world by a specific linguistic personality and linguistic community. Linguists use the concept of AWI in: a) linguoculturology, basing on the peculiarities of the representation of concepts; b) discourse, with the actualization of structural and semantic features; c) phraseology, in order to compare the value references presented in the phraseological funds of different languages, etc. The key problems for these research areas are: a) the place and role of the AWI in the system of linguistic world’s images; b) the structural organization of the AWI; c) objective definition of the AWI components (concept/evaluation concept/value concept vs value); d) terminological base. Thus, the description of the AWI requires consideration of knowledge of an interdisciplinary nature, a set of research goals and objectives, clear visions of the structure, components and units of analysis. We see the prospect in the further solution of the outlined problems with reliance on the interpretation of the AWI in lexicographic, terminological, reference, and other types of works.

Abstract:
The linguistic landscape, or "schoolscape," in public elementary schools in Medan, Indonesia, is a relatively new area of study in linguistics. This descriptive qualitative research explores language use within the school environment, considering its social and cultural aspects. The study aims to analyze the linguistic forms, usage, and functions present in the linguistic landscape of these schools. Data from photographs capturing linguistic units was collected from four public elementary schools in Medan. This study employed systematic sampling, specifically purposive sampling, to select public elementary schools in Medan based on criteria related to the city's main areas with diverse linguistic units. The findings reveal various linguistic forms, including acronyms, words, phrases, sentences, and monolingual and bilingual texts. Language within the linguistic landscape serves informational and symbolic functions, providing information to readers and reflecting the relationship between language and power through linguistic signs associated with local leaders. While Indonesian is the dominant language used, there is a lack of representation of specific ethnic or cultural identities. The findings have global implications, revealing language's role in education and its impact on social and cultural dynamics. Understanding linguistic forms, usage, and functions provides valuable insights for education policies promoting language diversity, skills, and cultural inclusivity. The study suggests enriching the linguistic landscape by considering the use of local or minority languages existing in the region. This study contributes to understanding linguistic landscapes in Indonesian schools and highlights the importance of incorporating diverse languages to promote language proficiency and cultural preservation.

Objective. The objective of the research is to establish patterns, factors of influence and cause and effect in the processes of formation and realization of creativity, linguistics in particular. Methods. The authors apply the following scientific methods: theoretical — analysis and synthesis, analogy and thought experiment, practical — analysis of scientific literature, on the basis of which conclusions based on the laws, factors of influence and cause and effect in the processes of formation and realization of creativity, linguistic in particular. Results. Creativity is an important characteristic of the modern world, the «driving force» of progress. It implies a tendency to perceive a particular issue from a different angle, with a departure from the traditional norms of worldview. Creativity is seen as the ability to realize creativity. The factors of formation of the phenomenon of creativity are the factors of the system «4 P»: creative personality, creative process, creative press, creative product. Creativity as a creative activity is divided into several stages: perception of the problem, finding a solution, the emergence and formulation of hypotheses, testing the hypotheses, modifying them and obtaining the result. The level of creativity depends largely on the type of dominant intelligence in the individual. The linguistic kind of intelligence, including linguistic, foreign-language, literary and oratorical subspecies, determines the level of development of creative-linguistic abilities. Linguistic talent is an element of linguistic creativity. This category is defined as the synthesis of linguistic abilities, motivation and auxiliary factors for the development of talent. Linguistic creativity is realized through the formation of communicative strategies, the content of which takes into account the originality, effectiveness and social acceptability of material presentation. Therefore, linguistic creativity is an important subspecies of creativity that is pervasive throughout the world.

Abstract:
Every year there is a rapid development of the media sphere, including its visual and discursive component, which contributes to the development of the "digital language" and the "language of television", the parallel development of YouTube journalism as a media phenomenon, which are evolving along with all the ongoing processes. Any language is susceptible to this, especially English, which is the most widespread and popular in the world. The study of linguistic issues of the language of television shows, the language of talk shows in line with the anthropological paradigm of modern linguistics in its broadest sense (issues of the functioning of language in various types of discourse, journalism and PR, media linguistics and political linguistics) and its central concepts such as the manipulative influence of language, linguistic personality, pragmalinguistics of language and text as part of it are an integral part of both the theory of language and the linguodidactic component of foreign language teaching (English as a foreign language). Taking into account the current conflicting political situation in the world, aggravated political and armed conflicts, the study of non-cooperative discourse in the media of English-language talk shows is certainly of scientific novelty. The main content of the research is concentrated around the analysis of the concepts of "non-cooperative discourse", "PR-discourse" from a linguistic point of view. Media linguistic analysis, discourse analysis, the method of multimodal text analysis, etc. are used as research methods. Results suggest that the concept of non-cooperative discourse is revealed (based on the material of English-language talk shows). Even so, the present study concludes that the approach is worthwhile and promising for further research.

In connection with the transition of the Kazakh alphabet to the Latin script, further improvement of the orthological codification of the Kazakh language becomes relevant. As you know, the system-centric object of the science of orthology is the norm / linguistic norm / literary norm. In passing, we note that there are still unresolved issues in the definition of a linguistic norm / literary norm in linguistics. In recent years, the problems of orthology have been actively developed in Kazakh linguistics, incl. special attention was paid to the study of spelling, orthoepic, lexical norms of the modern Kazakh literary language. First of all, there is a need to define the essence of the norm as an ontological category and the creation of an integral orthological theory, which will contribute to a deeper understanding of the phenomenon in general of the linguistic norm, its systemic properties and functioning features, in particular. And also the unification and codification of the language norm will have an effective impact on further improving the language culture and the development of language capital will contribute to ensuring the full activity of the Kazakh language as a state language. Abstract:
The research looks into the phenomenon of analogy as a key cognitive-linguistic mechanism that provides the systematic quality of the creative functioning of linguistic units. Specifically, the study examines analogy-based English metaphorical neologisms. Apart from sampling, semantic and conceptual analyses, the research also applies methods and techniques proposed by corpus linguistics and construction grammar. The work proceeds from the assumption that, while creating novel expressions by analogy with a conventional one, the speaker relies on a relative similarity of two concepts, which makes it possible to represent one of them through the other by modifying and adjusting the latter in accordance with the speaker’s intent. At the linguistic level, this kind of modification is reflected in the variation of the lexical components of the linguistic prototype used by the speaker as a model for forming new units. However, a corpus-based study into the functioning of the selected units shows that the construction of the prototype normally remains intact throughout the whole range of lexical change the initial expression undergoes. The constancy of the prototype’s construction and clear algorithm-like patterns involved in creating analogical units account for the fact that new coinages are easily recognized and their meaning adequately deciphered.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to a critical review of modern works of leading Ukrainian and foreign researchers focused on the study of English-language Internet communication. The relevance of the research is determined by the fact that the Internet has given users an unprecedented freedom of communicative action, which did not exist in the former historical forms of communication, which overcomes geographical distances and social differences. A comprehensive analysis of the main characteristics and features of the functioning of Internet communication elements was carried out. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of multimodality – one of the main features of Internet communication, which involves the use of several means or channels of information transmission. Multimodality describes communication in terms of the textual, audiovisual, linguistic, and spatial modes that are involved in composing and transmitting a message. Multimodal communication uses various semiotic modes, which are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of transmission and reception of messages. The functions of multimodal Internet text are considered, as well as the linguistic features of communication through the Internet, examples are given. While speech is the central code, non-verbal components also play an important role in the process of information transfer. The audiovisual component is a catalyst for the receiver's full perception of the broadcasted information. Multimodal linguistics is just emerging and is beginning to answer the question of the congruence of the functioning of all elements of Internet communication. Without a doubt, it is a necessary and important direction of modern linguistics, which studies the regularities of communication in the network. Abstract:
The relevance of the study is due to the interest of linguistics in the problems of the functioning of the English language in various genres of business communication from the point of view of cultural linguistics. The results of a comparative study of the verbal formulation of the valuemarked communicative situation of gratitude in the corpus of English-speaking Arabic (Learner Business Letter Corpus (LBCL)) and English-American business correspondence (Business Letter Corpus (BLC)) are presented in the article. It was found that the linguistic means of expressing gratitude in the BLC corpus demonstrate great lexical and grammatical variability, preference is given to implicit performatives. It is noted that a limited set of lexical and grammatical constructions is used in the corpus of the Arabic English-language business communication, and explicite performatives dominate. It is shown that in both corpuses, gratitude is used to formalize a request or demand; in Arabic English communication, flattery acts as a variation of the speech act rethinking of gratitude. It was revealed that when expressing a proactive gratitude implying a request in the Arabic linguistic culture, strategies of positive politeness are used, demonstrating the unity of interests of the communication participants, in contrast to theAnglo-American linguistic culture, which relies on the strategy of negative politeness, softening impositivity.

Abstract:
Against the background of a general theory of pragmatics, reflections are formulated on the central role of metapragmatic awareness as a specific manifestation of salience, the status of processes of meaning generation in language use in relation to the cognitive apparatus. First the notions of metalanguage and metapragmatics, as used in linguistics, are discussed. Then metalinguistic and metapragmatic phenomena are presented as reflections of metapragmatic awareness. Two ways in which indicators of metapragmatic awareness function in language use are distinguished: Their functioning as anchoring devices locating linguistic form in relation to context, and their functioning as signals of the language users’ reflexive interpretations of the activities they are engaged in. Finally, some social implications of metapragmatic functioning are discussed, in particular in relation to language ideologies and identity construction.

Abstract:
The research is devoted to one of the modern trends in linguistics - cultural linguistics. The topicality is related to the study of the Russian language functioning as the language of diaspora in the eastern region of Latvia - Latgale. The research aims to characterize the means of expressing the concept fire based on modelling and analyzing its associative field in the aspect of Latvian picture of the world. Theory and practice of the associative experiment were used as a methodological framework for the research. The method of free associative experiment reveals the specific features of different cultures, as well as the functional peculiarities of the linguistic consciousness both of a separate individual - a native speaker, and of a certain ethnic or national group. The word fire (Latvian - uguns) was suggested as a stimulus word. The received reactions were analyzed according to linguistic and cultural-contextual aspects. A comparative analysis of the associative fields revealed both the specific features of the Russian linguistic picture of the world, which combines the characteristics inherent in the Russian language of the metropolis and the ones that indicate the influence of the linguistic and cultural environment, and the features and signs that coincide or are identical in the Russian and the Latvian linguistic picture of the worlds. The data processing and the analysis define the concept fire precisely as a full-fledged concept in the perception of the native speakers of the Russian language in Latgale, since not only the dictionary meaning is actualized in their linguistic picture of the world, but also a multi-level associative field, unique in terms of contextual connotations, is modelled.

Abstract:
The field of linguistics, the scientific study of human natural language, is a growing and exciting area of study, with an important impact on fields as diverse as education, anthropology, sociology, language teaching, cognitive psychology, philosophy, computer science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence, among others. Indeed, the last five fields cited, along with linguistics, are the key components of the field of cognitive science, the study of the structure and functioning of human cognitive processes. In spite of the importance of the field of linguistics, many people, even highly educated people, will tell you that they have only a vague idea of what the field is about. Some believe that a linguist is a person who speaks several languages fluently. What is linguistics, then? Fundamentally, the field is concerned with the nature of language and (linguistic) communication. It is apparent that people have been fascinated with language and communication for thousands of years, yet in many ways we are only beginning to understand the complex nature of this aspect of human life.

Abstract:
Linguistics has developed in recent years towards taxonomic models of structuralism, communication and pragmalinguistics, as well as towards textual linguistics and, later, towards cognitive linguistics. The shift in research paradigms in linguistics has also changed with respect to phraseology. Each linguistic orientation has posed its own range of problems in the study of phraseology in general and the semantics of phraseological units in particular. In our study, analyzing the main directions of research in modern phraseology, we will pay more attention to such an analysis, "which is based on the study of many factors that influence the formation and functioning of the phenomena of the phraseological system" (Baranov). At the same time, it seems that one of the most fundamental factors is the internal form of the phraseological units, which determines the semantic, pragmatic and culturological characteristics of the phraseological units. This work is based on the functional-parametric principle of description of phraseological units, which makes it possible to trace and identify the polystructural modeling features of phraseological semantics on the French language corpus.

Abstract:
“By their terminology you shall know them...”: in search of the differentia specifica of modern linguistics. Summary: In the article, an attempt is made to identify the notion and its corresponding terminology that could serve the purposes of the differentia specifica of the ongoing polarisation of modern linguistics. As the terms system, symbol, functionalism, and conventionalism are found inadequate, it is the notion ‘continuum’, and its terminology, that is claimed to possibly tell apart the two ends (structural/generative and functional/ cognitive, respectively) of the linguistic cline. What follows is a report on whether or not, and to what extent, the ‘continuum’ terminology features in the latest 11 issues (2015–2019) of the three selected Polish journals of general linguistics. Keywords: terminology, continuum, continuity, structural linguistics vs. cognitive linguistics

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the topic of application of provisions and conclusions of legal linguistics in the field of law. The purpose of the study is to focus the attention of legal scholars on the necessity to consider legal and linguistic theory as a component of general and theoretical legal science. It is drawn attention that in the research of domestic scholars the connection between law and language is mainly highlighted by focusing on one of the aspects: either the legal basis of language functioning, or the linguistic features of law terminology system. It is emphasized that legal and linguistic theory (as well as legal linguistics) provides not two subjects of knowledge with an emphasis on one of them, but it is a dual subject - language and law; symbolic nature of law. The factors that influenced the genesis and development of legal and linguistic theory as a component of modern jurisprudence are presented and analyzed. First, it is globalization and integration processes, providing for the necessity to harmonize regulations, the correct translation of legitimate rules of conduct into the appropriate language, etc. Secondly, it is the borrowing of forreign concepts into the national legal system, which also stipulates an adequate understanding of their content, and phenomena denoted by the term. Partly in this context, the interdisciplinarity of modern knowledge is noted (processes of integration and differentiation of knowledge, is a factor in the interdisciplinary borrowing of concepts and categories). Secondly, it is a “linguistic turn” that marked the rejection of the prevalence of the metaphysics of consciousness and the intention of thinkers on the linguistic quintessence of cogito. Language began to be perceived as the basis of cognitive activity, thinking; the attention of scientists has shifted to the epistemology of senses and meanings. It is concluded that in response to the challenges of society, since the second half of the twentieth century, a new field of interdisciplinary research - legal linguistics - has been conceptualized. This interdisciplinary field is crucial in the field of law, based on the social and cultural essence of this regulator of social relations. Language, as well as law, being an element of the culture of the society, influence the perception of social values, their formation. In the context of globalization, a significant part of legal phenomena and processes can be known precisely by means of the use of epistemological tools of legal linguistics.
