Abstract:
Seven instructive Jurassic sections in the Gabrovo and the Kazanluk Districts are described. It was established that in the Gabrovo District the lower part of the Ozirovo Formation belongs to the Lower Sinemurian, and the underlying Kostina Formation to the Hettangian. In the Kazanluk District (section in the locality Ikischa) the lower part of the Ozirovo Formation belongs to the Lower Pliensbachian, and the Kostina Formation to the Upper Sinemurian. The sections in the Gabrovo District are situated within the limits of the Kostina Step (second order block) of the Izdremets Complex Graben of the Moesian Early- Middle Jurassic Platform. The sections in the Kazanluk District are situated within the Neshkovtsi Step of the same graben. The marine ingression on the Moesian Early-Middle Jurassic Platform began during the Hettangian with the most descended Kostina Step. The sea advanced from the Toundzha Fault-Angle Valley. During the Sinemurian and the Early Pliensbachian the ingression expanded and covered all the rest, more uplifted steps of the Izdremets Graben. The sea gradually overflowed the Sevlievo Graben and the western part of the Veliko Turnovo Graben of the Moesian Early-Middle Jurassic Platform. At the initial stage of the marine ingression the supplying dryland was active, therefore quite shallow water terrigenousclastic sediments and very little amount of more or less sandy calcareous silts with bioclasts were deposited. Later on (at the end of the Sinemurian and in the beginning of the Pliensbachian) the calcareous silts began to prevail over the terrigenous sediments, the shallow-water environments having remained. More or less significant Middle Jurassic and Early Jurassic stratigraphic breaks were established in all of the described sections. They realized in marine conditions. Strong submarine currents led to a marine abrasion. As a result, condensed Middle-Upper Callovian limestones lie at present over Lower Bajocian or Lower Sinemurian sediments, or directly overlay Upper Triassic rocks. In the section near the Sokolski Monastery, Gabrovo District, Middle Kimmeridgian limy shales to marls and a quite limited amount of thin layered limy sandstone intercalations directly overlie Lower Sinemurian, sandy bioclastic limestones.

Abstract:
The process of restructuring European economies has begun over the last decade. This process is related to the implementation of strategies and policies at all levels in the countries for sustainable development in context of climate change and reduction of natural resources usage. Logically, European course to decarbonizing economies was adopted two years ago. In this regard, it is important to monitor the transition of the economies of individual countries and regions to neutrality and what problems arise. In this sense, Bulgaria is part of this process, and it is important to develop policies, aiming to reformulate regional policy and achieving sustainable development of the Bulgarian regions. The aim of the present research is to analyze the state of the economy in Gabrovo district in the context of the concept of sustainable development and outlining the difficulties and opportunities of the local economy in the transition to neutrality. The author achieves the goal, using various approaches and research methods - systematic, territorial approaches and descriptive, comparative, statistical and other methods.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the potential of local festivals to serve as an instrument to overcome crises in three particular case studies, namely Gavrovo's Festival of Humour and Satire, Varshets' Resort, Mineral Water and the Balkan Mountains Festival and Kosti's fire dancing. The analysis is based on the results of an empirical research conducted in the summer of 2021 within the project “Local festivals: a resource of local communities for crisis management,” supported by the Bulgarian National Science Fund. The main argument is that in all of these cases the festivals cannot be subsumed under the logic of coping with economic underdevelopment. Nevertheless, the festivals have a direct effect on coping with the coronavirus crises both in terms of the practical realization of its irreversibility, as well as in terms of using it as a medium to renegotiate local contradictions and conflicts. Lastly, the article demonstrates the efficacy (and limits) of Bakhtin's theory of the carnavalesque for the understanding of local festivals' role in coping with crises.

Abstract:
The multicomponent method of assessing the progress in physics of students from the Technical University of Gabrovo is discussed in the paper. It is shown that tests papers as a modern form of examining students can successfully be combined with other traditional forms of examination. In that way the teacher can get important feedback on how students understand lectures and laboratory teaching material during the semester and to adjust their work so that they can in time adapt to the necessary level. Thus, students are actively involved in the learning process, which improves the results they show at the final exam. These conclusions are based on the results of the last decade, ever since the method was introduced.

Abstract:
During the 19th century, significant changes occurred in the administrative and territorial structure of the Balkan provinces of the Ottoman Empire. The article analyzes the impact that these changes have had on the development of cities in the Bulgarian lands under Ottoman rule. The administrative rise of cities, such as Plovdiv, Bitola, and Ruschuk (Ruse), stimulated their economic and demographic development instead of other urban centres that were important in the past, such as Sofia, Nikopol, and Silistra. At the local level, the changes in the Ottoman administrative system have also had a significant impact, contributing to the upward development of settlements proclaimed as cities in the Stara Planina, Sredna Gora, and Sub-Balkan regions, such as Gabrovo, Koprivshtitsa, Panagyurishte, etc.

The article is dedicated to three Bulgarian historical works created at Athos in the second half of the 18th c. – "Slavo-Bulgarian History" by Saint Paisius of Hilendar, anonymous "Zograf History" and "Brief History of the Bulgarian Slav People" by monk-priest Spyridon of Gabrovo. By the author’s opinion, these works, on the one hand, were born in the atmosphere of rivalry between the monasteries of Athos and their Greek, Bulgarian and Serbian clergy, and on the other, were actualised by the strengthening contacts of Hilandar and Zograf with Bulgarian lands. If the first affected the contents of the mentioned works, the second lead to sufficient enlargement of their audience, which, in its turn, became a precondition of the growing interest to the national history among the Bulgarian population of Rumelia in the first half of the 19th c.

Abstract:
The pre-Callovian stratigraphic gap in the Central Balkanids is distributed in the Etropole, Teteven, Troyan, Kazanluk, Gabrovo and Turgovishte Districts. To the west (village of Gintsi, Sofia District) and to the east (the section of well R-3 Yunak, District of Yarn a) of the gap uninterrupted Bathonian-Callovian rock successions exist. In its western and eastern parts the pre-Callovian stratigraphic gap is a diastem. In these localities the gap embraces minimum duration. In the western diastem the duration of the gap is from the Late Bathonian to the Early Callovian. In the eastern diastem the duration of the gap is probably in the framework of the Late Bathonian. In many localities where the gap is diastem the boundary between the basement and the cover is marked by hardgrounds. In its central part (Troyan, Kazanluk and Gabrovo Districts) the pre-Callovian stratigraphic gap is with much longer duration. This is caused by the intensive submarine washout of the earlier deposited Middle and Lower Jurassic sediments. In limited localities the Callovian from the cover lies directly even above Upper Triassic rocks. Almost everywhere the cover of the gap is represented by condensed Middle-Upper Callovian micritic limestones. They are rich of ammonites. The main microfacies type is mudstone/wackestone with filaments from thin-shelled bivalves. It is correlated with the Standard Microfacies Type 3 (SMF 3) - "pelagic mudstone and wackestone". It is formed in the lower part of the deep sublittoral, which is in consent with the ba thymetric interpretations based on the characteristics of the respective faunal spectra. The Callovian limestones in conditions of uninterrupted sedimentation show similar microfacies characteristics. In the localities where the pre-Callovian gap is a diastem, the conclusions for the microfacies characteristics and for the faunal spectra of the Bathonian sandy bioclastic limestones are similar. The microfacies type is bioclastic-lithoclastic packstonelrudstone, which can be attributed to some extent to the SMF 4 - "bioclastic-lithoclastic packstone". It may be supposed that the features of this texture direct to a more shallow parts of the deep sublittoral. Almost the same characteristics have the Bathonian limestones and marls in conditions of uninterrupted sedimentation. In general, the pre-Callovian gap is realized in submarine conditions, which are connected with the deep sublittoral. There are four stages in the transition between normal sedimentation and submarine gap: normal sedimentation (in which biostratigraphic superposition is traceable) → slow sedimentation (condensations) → submarine stratigraphic gaps (as a result of non-deposition - diastems) → submarine stratigraphic gaps (as a result of submarine washout).

Abstract:
The enlargement of the EU towards Central-Eastern Europe in the years 2004 and 2007 and the related EU funds provided new opportunities and created new challenges to both big metropolitan cities and smaller settlements. One of the particularly important challenges was to define appropriate national and local policies for the urban regeneration of neglected areas, which were abundant in this part of Europe. The objective of the paper is to analyze and evaluate actions taken in Bulgaria and Poland at the national and local level in the field of urban regeneration after the countries? accession to the EU. The paper compares the general national and local planning approaches and capacity building for urban regeneration in the context of regulative and procedural issues. The local case studies represent two types of urban areas under regeneration: the metropolitan core cities Pozna? and Sofia and medium-sized non-core towns of Pi?a and Gabrovo. The results are in the form of a concurrent evaluation of both the achievements and negative effects resulting from the national and local processes in the envisaged and the recently implemented activities with regard to the regeneration of deprived urban neighborhoods and areas.

The research focuses on local festivals and in particular the way in which their organizers view them as a mechanism for preserving the traditions of the local community. Particular attention is paid to the importance of these events for the presentation and preservation of cultural and historical heritage. The various points of view of representatives of local authorities, organizers of local holidays and representatives of the Roma ethnic community are presented without claiming to be exhaustive. Local holidays in the Bulgarian context, regardless of their thematic focus, have their own energy, which distinguishes them from other similar events and in this sense are the antithesis of fear and social isolation, especially in crises such as the Covid pandemic 19. In most cases, these events can be seen as part of the process of building local identities, which draw their resources from what is imagined, reconstructed and argued as local heritage.

Abstract:
The geological conditions of the landslide's area, at Tsakona, in Arkadia Prefecture, are examined, as well as the factors that influenced the landslide's evolution. The landslide occurred at a distance of 15 km south of Megalopoli, on the New Highway, connecting Tripoli to Kalamata and constitutes one of the larger road landslides that have ever taken place. It occupies an area of a length of 1200m and a width of 300m. Geotectonically the landslide's region is placed in a block of the Pindos zone, thrusted on the Gabrovo-Tripoli zone. The geological formations that comprise the closer geological frame, consist of the formation of "First Flysch", Upper Jurassic - Lower Cretaceous and of the Upper Cretaceous limestones. The geological factors that drastically influenced the landslide's activation are lithological, tectonic, hydrogeological and morphological. The mainly siltstone lithology of the flysch, the intense tectonic deformation that occurred during the alpidic horogenetic phase, the morphological depression that is formed by the landslide's region and the large quantities of groundwater supplied by the uphill limestone, are the main geological reasons that activated the landslide. It should be emphasised that the activation and evolution of the landslide were greatly influenced by human activity during the road construction.

Abstract:
In the conditions of global climate change and invasion of new diseases and pests, the utilisation of the local gene pool is a vital step towards sustainable agriculture. Local cultivars and forms are generally considered as better adapted to the conditions of the originating region than widely spread commercial cultivars bred elsewhere. In order to collect, study, and preserve old and local fruit and vine cultivars and forms, a series of expeditions have been conducted throughout Bulgaria under the frame of project KP-06-N46/3 funded by the National Science Fund of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. During these scientific expeditions, several local cherry forms were discovered without visual symptoms of brown rot Monilinia laxa (Aderh. and Ruhl.) Honey or cherry leaf spot Blumeriella jaapii (Rehm) Arx. To confirm the degree of resistance/low susceptibility of the specimens, laboratory tests with artificial inoculations of fruits and leaves were conducted. In the current study, two specimens found in Damyanovo region (a village in the municipality of Sevlievo, Gabrovo Province, in northern central Bulgaria) were included. They were compared to two old local cherry cultivars, ‘Volsko sartse’ and ‘Ranna cherna edra’, and two new selections of FGI-Plovdiv, ‘Asparukh’ (El.17-90) and ‘Kossara’, using ‘Bigarreau Burlat’ as reference cultivar for resistance to economically important diseases. The artificial inoculations confirmed the field observation of the cherry specimen with designation SM-58 with 0.00% of infected fruits. Therefore, it is recommended for use in the breeding programme of the Fruit Growing Institute, Plovdiv for the creation of new cultivars.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The paper analyzes the strategies of people in agriculture, especially in the mountain regions where the fragmentation of land is significant. The quantity of land there is also limited. This leads to important consequences for the agrarian development. The culture of keeping the lands of the predecessors burdens the market of agricultural lands. The renting of lands depends on the types of plants to be cultivated as the law for renting lands allows contracts for the max of five years and for the farmers it is insecure to cultivate perennial plants on such lands. In this situation the survival of the small-scale farmers depends on their ability to coop and support each other. The article describes the emergence of a coop for bioproduction of roses, mint and milk in the "Valley of Roses", Karlovo and Gabrovo regions, the solidarity between the farmers, the stimuli and barriers to their activities. It reveals the culture of mutual support based not so much on economic but rather on other incentives such as love to nature and environment, strong desire to prove that bioproduction could develop in the country and that bioproducts are the future for Bulgarian agriculture. It is a different coop in comparison with the socialist collectives. The now established coop unites the farmers for education, qualification, market and mutual support for objectives, but each farmer produces his/her products alone. The farmers sell the products together and each one depends on the culture of others' conscious cultivation of bioproducts. Until now, the experience has been positive and the coop has sustainable development. This is also due to the creation of three professional organizations - the coop as a producing unit, organization for distributing knowledge on organic production and a certifying organization of bioproducts. The survival of the coop depends on farmers? hard work and solidarity, the strong will to survive, the hope for future significant agricultural support and subsidies when the European Union enlargement involves Bulgaria and the improvement of the economic situation in the country that could bring better buying abilities of the population.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Background One of the most important tasks in anti-age therapy and rejuvenation practice is the regeneration of various tissues, organs and body systems [1,2]. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of therapy with the new class of homeopathic and informational preparations “Triton Regeneration” and “Triton Metamorphosis” [3]. The preparations were used both in homeopathic dilutions, and in the form of control signals of the Triton (CSTrit). Aims To apply in practice the homeopathic preparations “Triton regeneration” and “Triton metamorphosis” in the form of homeopathic dilutions and control signals, in order to regenerate the organs of the tissues and systems of the patient and evaluate the results obtained. Methodology A clinical study was conducted on a group of 33-st people aged between 7-75 years of both sexes who received injuries to the skin, connective tissue and / or musculoskeletal system. The study was conducted by a multicenter method in the cities: Moscow (Russia), Gabrovo (Bulgaria), Arad (Romania). All patients gave informed consent for treatment. To write a CS and their applications, for diagnostics and therapy, and the fabrication for the necessary preparations and marker CMH, the integrated system for electropuncture diagnostic « IMEDIS-EXPERT» was used. For the diagnosis method was used vegetative resonance test (VRT). Cultures of the biological material of the triton were used to obtain control signals triton (CSTrit) therapy. The method of bioresonance therapy (BRT) was used to adapt and administer the condition of the patient. Adaptation of the preparations to the patient's body was carried out by electron potentiation of the initial CSTrit until the VRT condition was met: ?MH ? + Pot ? (CSTrit) ? The marker ?MH-individual constitutional marker represents the sum of signals from the nodal and terminal BAT (biologically active points) located on the main chirohlyphic palm lines of the patient. Patients used the homeopathic remedies of triton and / or adapted CSTrit in individual dosage during the individual course of therapy. At subsequent receptions, a second VRT was re-examined and the degree of recovery of defects in the skin, connective tissue and / or the musculoskeletal system was assessed. Results This clinical study showed a high efficacy of homeopathic and informational preparations of CSTrit in patients who received injuries of the skin, connective tissue and / or musculoskeletal system. A pronounced positive effect was obtained in all cases of treatment of CSTrit: objective processes of regeneration of the connective tissue system of the patients were noted, in particular, restoration of its skin. In the case of treatment therapy for injuries of the musculoskeletal system, marked regeneration processes in the bone and tendon tissues were observed, confirmed by R-studies. Conclusion 1. Homeopathic remedies “Triton regeneration” and “Triton metamorphosis”, as well as the control signals of the Triton (CSTrit), made using the apparatus "IMEDIS-EXPERT", are effective signals of the regeneration of body tissues, as in the case of treatment of skin and connective tissue damage, and in case of damage to bone tissue and tendons. 2. Therapy of patients with CSTrit, potentiated by the ?MH marker, is comparable in effectiveness and end results with mono- and complex homeopathic therapy and in some cases surpasses it. 3. A new class of the preparations - gives a positive result in 96% of cases. Similar results are unattainable with ordinary homeopathy.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
One of the most serious and dangerous ocular problems in premature infants is retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a proliferative vascular disease. Ophthalmologists can use automatic computer-assisted diagnostic (CAD) tools to help them make a safe, accurate, and low-cost diagnosis of ROP. All previous CAD tools for ROP diagnosis use the original fundus images. Unfortunately, learning the discriminative representation from ROP-related fundus images is difficult. Textural analysis techniques, such as Gabor wavelets (GW), can demonstrate significant texture information that can help artificial intelligence (AI) based models to improve diagnostic accuracy. In this paper, an effective and automated CAD tool, namely GabROP, based on GW and multiple deep learning (DL) models is proposed. Initially, GabROP analyzes fundus images using GW and generates several sets of GW images. Next, these sets of images are used to train three convolutional neural networks (CNNs) models independently. Additionally, the actual fundus pictures are used to build these networks. Using the discrete wavelet transform (DWT), texture features retrieved from every CNN trained with various sets of GW images are combined to create a textural-spectral-temporal demonstration. Afterward, for each CNN, these features are concatenated with spatial deep features obtained from the original fundus images. Finally, the previous concatenated features of all three CNN are incorporated using the discrete cosine transform (DCT) to lessen the size of features caused by the fusion process. The outcomes of GabROP show that it is accurate and efficient for ophthalmologists. Additionally, the effectiveness of GabROP is compared to recently developed ROP diagnostic techniques. Due to GabROP’s superior performance compared to competing tools, ophthalmologists may be able to identify ROP more reliably and precisely, which could result in a reduction in diagnostic effort and examination time.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to present geochemical data and some petrological aspects of the Amparo gabbroic (hyperite) body, located approximately 30 km east of the town, Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro State. Ten samples of these basic rocks were analysed for major, minor and trace elements, and three of these for REE. The data obtained reflect the limited mineralogical range. The contents of the major elements indicate a sub-alkalic tholeiitic magma, as shown by modal analysis, which classified these rocks as an olivine gabbro. Geochemical analysis of the minor, trace and rare-earth elements shows abnormal incompatible enrichment, such as the high LREE, Ba and Sr contents. Similar results for other basic and ultrabasic intrusions are common in this portion of the Ribeira Mobile Belt.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The Gabro de Cerro Frontino was emplaced in the Cañasgordas Block, located in the Northern Segment of the Colombian Western Cordillera. It corresponds to a pluton composed of at least three magmatic pulses, emplaced during a short period of time. Gabbros and diorites are more common in the unit than clinopiroxenites, monzodiorites and monzonites. These rocks are composed of calcic to intermediate plagioclase, augite-egerine type clinopyroxene and biotite; olivine and flogopite may be present in some mafic rocks and alkali feldspar and quartz may be present in some felsic rocks. Sphene, magnetite and apatite are common accessory minerals. The silica content in the rocks varies between 37.08% and 54.4%, with constant values of MnO (0.1% 0.4%), impoverishment of Fe2O3, MgO, CaO, TiO2 and P2O5 as SiO2 increases, and enrichment of K2O, Na2O and Al2O3 as SiO2 increases. The basic and ultrabasic rocks fall in the sub-alkaline series, the rest of the samples fall in the medium to K-rich calc-alkaline series and in the shoshonitic series. The Gabro de Cerro Frontinocorresponds to magmas impoverished on heavy rare earth elements with respect to light rare earth elements, which suggests the contribution of a subduction component in the magma genesis. The LILE (Sr, K, Rb, Pb, Ba) are enriched with respect to the HFSE values that are relatively flat and impoverished; the unit also exhibits a negative anomaly of Nb with respect to Th and Ce, being a magmatic arc the environment of generation. The ages obtained in biotite using the Ar-Ar method fall between 9.87±0.18 Ma and 11.44±0.36 Ma, Middle to upper Miocene (Tortonian-Serravallian), similar to age of other plutons that are part of the Botón Arc.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Several articles in this issue touch on some of the more athletic components of the performing arts. The article by Twitchett et al. describes fitness aspects of ballet, Gabrilo et al. discuss lung function in synchronized swimmers, and we also learn about how one flutist prepared for a very difficult piece by exercising (and practicing) in the letter by Borkowski. Of course, these are not the first articles in MPPA that look at performers as individuals who call on a variety of physical skills to create an artistic performance; examples of studies looking at both dancers and musicians dating back nearly a decade or more are easy to find.
