Gaharu wood produces an expensive essential oil due to its fragrance and chemical compounds. Normally, the black color wood is used for the extraction of oil because it contains high resin. However, the cost of this resinous wood is very expensive. Therefore, in this study, the raw material with low resin content (identified by the white color of the wood) will be used for the extraction of oil. However, hydrodistillation alone will not produce satisfactory volume. Thus, pretreatment is needed to enhance the amount of essential oil. However, the identity of parasitoids associated with O. eucalypti in the field is poorly known. The study aimed to identify the parasitoids and their most prevalent species associated with O. eucalypti. Leaves of Eucalyptus with parasitized galls were sampled from January to October 2021 at Toba, North Tapanuli, and Samosir d

AbstractGaharu bouya oil obtained from distillation of the woods from Gonystylus genus has attracted essential oil industry interest. However, the information about gaharu bouya essential oil profile is limited. The presence of Gonystylus species is also critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. Therefore, exploring the -omics profiles of Gonystylus bancanus, a native plant from Borneo Island, is important for Indonesia to conserve the population. This research investigated the metabolite profiling of G. bancanus oil, especially the volatile components of its essential oils. Distillations we

The border regions possess political, cultural, and socio-economic complexity. One of major problems in the border regions is the lack of employment opportunity following ups and downs in the economy, suggesting a need for a more sustainable employment opportunity by harnessing local conditions and practices. The wood-boring beetles, including the majority of Cerambycidae, have developed the ability to metabolize a variety of toxic compounds derived from host plants and the surrounding environment. However, detoxification mechanisms underlying the evolutionary adaptation of a cerambycid beetle Pharsalia antennata to hosts and habitats are largely unexplored. Here, we characterized three key gene families in relation to detoxification (cytochrome P450 monooxygenases: P450s, carboxylesterases: COEs and glutathione-S-transferases: GSTs), by combinations of transcriptomics, gene identification, phyloge
