Abstract:
Several neuropathologists conducted brain research on victims of so-called euthanasia programs carried out by the National Socialist (Nazi) regime in Germany from 1940 to 1945. Some published their results in German journals or books during and after the war. One of these neuropathologists was Hans Jacob of Hamburg, a former Nazi party member and the leader of the same laboratory previously run by Alfons Jakob (Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease). Though much has been published on the unethical actions of Jacob's fellow neuropathologist from Berlin, Julius Hallervorden, Jacob's actions were remarkably

An important route is the direct instillation into the airways in contrast to delivery through the digestive tract. Abstract Despite the Byzantine complications in Bülow’s private life from which we have just emerged, his work with the Meiningen Orchestra remained constant. The European tours continued to absorb his time and involve him in his best work, and it is to them that we must now return. When the history of these long and arduous journeys comes to be written, the ones pursued in 1884 will be seen to rank not only among the most numerous but also the most memorable. The orchestra stood at the peak of its form, and it was gathering laurels wherever it appeared. In January alone, the ensemble gave twe

This chapter provides a fresh analysis of Hans Zehrer (1899–1966), examining his journalism and politics at the end of the Weimar Republic. Ousted after the Nazi seizure of power, he “emigrated internally” to Sylt. He left the island after 1945, first as the editor in chief of Allgemeines Sonntagsblatt, founded by Bishop Hanns Lilje in Hanover, and later of Die Welt in Hamburg. The chapter traces the evolution of his thoughts from his wartime book Der Mensch in dieser Zeit, through his Stille vor dem Sturm. Zehrer showed that he was not a liberal or a social democrat but a conservative who wre
