Abstract Introduction: Biclonal gammopathies represent about 5% of clonal gammopathies. We describe the clinical and laboratory features of biclonal gammopathies identified in a French university hospital. Methods: Patients were selected by immunofixation registry of Biochemistry laboratory. Results: From 1987 to 2008, 203 biclonal gammapathies were identified. Patients were 113 men and 90 women. Median age was 72.0 years (35–95). Seventy eight patients (38.3%) had IgG and IgM components, 64 (31,9%) had two IgG, 24 (11,8%) had IgG and IgA, 23 (11,3%) had two IgM, 8 (3,9%) had IgM and IgA, 5 (2

Abstract Background: Monoclonal gammapathy of unknown significance (MGUS) is a frequent disorder that carries a 1% per year risk of progression to multiple myeloma (MM). Patients should be monitored annually to detect malignant transformation before complications occur. Objective: To assess if MGUS regular follow-up allow early detection of malignant transformation before severe complications occur. Progression to multiple myeloma was established according to the criteria defined by the International Working Group. Criteria for severe complication were: hypercalcemia (> 3 mmol/l), acute ren

Abstract Abstract 3913 The possibility of measuring the circulating free light chains (FLC) improved our ability to detect the amyloidogenic clone, allowed refined risk stratification in combination with cardiac biomarkers, and provided a formidable tool for assessing response to treatment in AL amyloidosis. Recently, a novel method for FLC quantitation based on monoclonal antibodies has been developed. We evaluated its performance in the diagnosis, prognostication of survival, and response assessment in 353 consecutive newly diagnosed patients with AL amyloidosis enrolled between 2007 and 201
