Abstract:
Management as well as the use of software for scheduling the project company’s strategy are vital components of an organization’s economic sustainability. When working on a project, modern managers frequently employ visual aids such as task diagrams. The Gantt chart is a highly effective type of diagrams. Many project companies now include software products for designing Gantt charts as a key tool in their technical scope. The article presents the results of a study using the Choice («Vybor») decision support system. Thomas Saaty’s mathematical method of analytic hierarchy process implies the selection of the most favorable choice in decision-making. Using the analytic artifi cial intelligence system, the choices were ranged in a form of software products for building Gaant charts, and the most effective software decision was selected.

Abstract:
This research is focused on the technology transfer process in the automobile industry using project management tools. The aim of this research is the development of a technology-transfer model using Gantt charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams to achieve a sustainable planning process in the global environment. To achieve this goal, the authors use Gantt charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams. The hypothesis and three research questions are presented, which suggest a relationship between project management tools and the sustainable planning process of technology transfer. During the research, we use the case study of the Korean automobile industry as an excellent example of the technology-transfer process in global markets. A single project of technology transfer is discussed: the technology knowledge transfer from Korean headquarters to a Russian manufacturing subsidiary (Hyundai Motor Corporation). Quantitative data were collected through the open resources of the corporation; the qualitative data were analyzed through a case study and model parameter evaluation. The significant result that the combination of Gantt Charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams methods improves the planning process for technology-transfer projects was found in this survey. It is noticed that (a) it is useful to apply project-management tools for technology transferring models; (b) Gantt Charts and Critical Path Analysis flow diagrams have a sustainable impact on technology transfer projects; and (c) critical paths and operational reserves in network diagrams help to optimize the planning process for technology transfer.

Abstract:
It is incontrovertible that an exchange of files is essentially required at several stages of the workflow in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. Therefore, investigating and detecting the capabilities/inabilities of building information modeling (BIM) software packages with respect to interoperability can be informative to stakeholders who exchange data between various BIM packages. The work presented in this paper includes a discussion on the interoperability of different software platforms commonly used in the AEC industry. Although, in theory, flawless interoperability of some types of files between different BIM platforms is ensured, in practical applications, this is not always the case. Hence, this research aims to identify faults in data exchange by assessing different possible scenarios where a sample Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) four-dimensions (4D) BIM model and related Gantt charts are exchanged. Throughout the interoperability analysis of both IFC file and Gantt charts, the following checks were carried out: geometrical and nongeometrical information exchange through IFC files, 4D information correct readability, and presence of missing schedule information in Gantt charts after their import/export procedure. The results show that interoperability between the analyzed platforms is not always ensured, providing useful insight into realistic scenarios.

Project management skills such as WBS, Gantt Chart and PERT have been applied in many fields, but system analysts preferred UML to project tools. This article recommend transformation rules from project items into objects and project charts into UML diagrams, to model all project items and processes by using UML. Therefore, UML can be applied not only to system analysis and design, but also to entire project processes. Stakeholders in a project can rethink the project in terms of object orientation and communicate with system developers using the same tool as UML.

Effective communication of task-resource assignment plans comprises several challenges in important fields such as production scheduling and/or project management. Said difficulties result from the cost and sophistication level of most project planning information tools, and from the pedagogic challenge implied in getting people with different educational levels to communicate through such tools. The present work introduces the implementation grounds of a simple information technology development for the construction of Gantt charts as decision making support tools for people or companies that have limited access to sophisticated information technology tools. The implementation and execution of the Visual Basic code with Excel applications are described in detail, as well as the correct use of the Excel solver add-in from VBA macros to solve the implemented mathematical models.

Abstract:
The number of project management software developed is increasing which encourages better project management practices. Reluctance to use software may be due to a lack of understanding of software applications, considering software to be complex and impractical, or because it is perceived as expensive. This paper aims to evaluate "Progresi" as a project management software created by a local developer, specifically aimed at managing construction projects in Indonesia. A simulation is carried out based on real project data, to find out the features of the software and its potential use for construction project management. The research results show that “Progresi” produces Gantt charts, S-curves, budget tables, and resource tables. Its unique feature is that it accommodates the concept of unit price analysis for cost budgeting, provides a menu for safety management, generates daily project reports, and can be used to store photos and documents neatly and easily accessible which are useful for project audit purposes. Suggestions that can be given for improving this software are the need to provide a formal software manual, supplement it with network planning, and improve the appearance of Gantt charts and tables to make it look more professional.

We present a new approach to segmenting multiple time series by analyzing the dynamics of cluster formation and rearrangement around putative segment boundaries. This approach finds application in distilling large numbers of gene expression profiles into temporal relationships underlying biological processes. By directly minimizing information-theoretic measures of segmentation quality derived from Kullback-Leibler (KL) divergences, our formulation reveals clusters of genes along with a segmentation such that clusters show concerted behavior within segments but exhibit significant regrouping across segmentation boundaries. The results of the segmentation algorithm can be summarized as Gantt charts revealing temporal dependencies in the ordering of key biological processes. Applications to the yeast metabolic cycle and the yeast cell cycle are described.

We have designed an Excel spreadsheet to facilitate the planning and execution of screenings performed manually or in semi-automation mode, following a sequential set of events. Many assays involve multiple steps, often including time-sensitive stages, thus complicating the proper implementation to ensure that all plates are treated equally to achieve reliable outcomes. The spreadsheet macro presented in this study analyzes and breaks down the timings for all tasks, calculates the limitation in the number of plates that suit the desired parameters, and allows for optimization based on tolerance of time delay and equal treatment of plates when possible. The generated Gantt charts allow for visual inspection of the screening process and provide timings in a tabulated form to assist the user to conduct the experiments as projected by the software. In the process of construction and installation, emergency requirements are designing a reasonable construction schedule. A suitable construction schedule will make an important contribution to reducing costs and saving construction time. Research on optimizing construction progress according to many goals to balance both time and resources is a difficult job, requiring a lot of effort. This study proposes the application of an evolutionary algorithm in optimizing the construction process with Gantt charts to meet the multi-target requirements. The multi-target function is built based on single target criteria and is used as the cost function of the evolutionary algorithm. Application results with specific projects show multi-target optimization by using evolutionary algorithms that allow automatically building a suitable and balanced construction schedule between targets. Abstract:
The mathematical model of biochemical analysis system was established based on neural network-greedy algorithm. The optimal task scheduling sequence was solved by neural network algorithm. At the same time, the local optimization was obtained by combining greedy algorithm. In this way, the task scheduling problem in biochemical analyzer was transformed into a mathematical problem, and the mathematical model of scheduling algorithm was established. On the platform of MATLAB, eight groups of simulation tests were carried out on the same task scheduling problem using the neural network-greedy scheduling algorithm and the traditional fixedperiod scheduling algorithm. The task-time Gantt charts of the two algorithms were compared under different scheduling orders. The results showed that the average speed of the neural network-greedy algorithm was improved by 31% compared with that of the fixed-period scheduling algorithm. The mathematical model of biochemical analysis system on scheduling problem established by neural network-greedy scheduling algorithm has high efficiency compared with the traditional fixed-period scheduling algorithm.

Abstract:
Capstone projects usually represent the most significant academic endeavor with which students have been involved. Time management tends to be one of the hurdles. On top, University students are prone to procrastinatory behavior. Inexperience and procrastination team up for students failing to meet deadlines. Supervisors strive to help. Yet heavy workloads frequently prevent tutors from continuous involvement. This article looks into the extent to which conversational agents (a.k.a. chatbots) can tackle procrastination in single-student capstone projects. Specifically, chatbot enablers put in play include (1) alerts, (2) advice, (3) automatic rescheduling, (4) motivational messages, and (5) reference to previous capstone projects. Informed by Cognitive Behavioural Theory, these enablers are framed within the three phases involved in self-regulation misalignment: pre-actional, actional, and post-actional. To motivate this research, we first analyzed 77 capstone-project reports. We found that students’ Gantt charts (1) fail to acknowledge review meetings (70%) and milestones (100%) and (2) suffer deviations from the initial planned effort (16.28%). On these grounds, we develop GanttBot, a Telegram chatbot that is configured from the student’s Gantt diagram. GanttBot reminds students about close landmarks, it informs tutors when intervention might be required, and it learns from previous projects about common pitfalls, advising students accordingly. For evaluation purposes, course 17/18 acts as the control group ( N=28 ) while course 18/19 acts as the treatment group ( N=25 students). Using “overdue days” as the proxy for procrastination, results indicate that course 17/18 accounted for an average of 19 days of delay (SD = 5), whereas these days go down to 10 for the intervention group in course 18/19 (SD = 4). GanttBot is available for public usage as a Telegram chatbot.

This study is based on the solution proposed by one of Polish companies, offering technologically integrated products allowing, according to the producer, to build passive houses faster and easier. The goal of this study was to confront producer’s claim with reality by comparing time and cost of the same investment using conventional and passive house technology. The basis for time and cost analysis was a basic detached house design, partially modified with regards to materials and technology used. Conclusions of the study are based on the comparison of the two Gantt charts defined in Ms Project. Construction schedule was used to analyse the duration of both projects and the resources assignment was used in cost analysis.

Abstract:
We evaluated how Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) controllers interacted with advanced weather products when displayed on primary tactical radar displays or on auxiliary flat-panel displays. When we provide the controllers with access to appropriate weather tools, we potentially decrease workload and improve performance by increasing weather situational awareness (WSA). We assessed the benefit of providing weather information using Gantt charts to graphically depict user interaction patterns and by conducting an analysis of the frequency and duration of interactions with the weather tools. From these analyses, we identified two patterns of interacting with tools corresponding to heavy and light users. We correlated tool use with our measure of controller efficiency and found an increase in traffic throughput with increasing tool use. We also determined that the controllers were more likely to interact tactically with tools when placed on the Terminal Controller Workstation (TCW), turning them on when needed and turning them off when not needed. This method provides us with insight into how the controllers use the information on their displays to help provide them with tools to increase safety and efficiency.

The paper aims at presenting the particular way of implementing Odoo ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) within the Cloud environment, in order to manage the activities involved by a research project. To successfully achieve the objectives of the project - from choosing the research topic to writing the main body of study and disseminating critical information - the Odoo Project module allows the researchers to establish the stages involved in the implementation process, the description of related tasks, the appointment of persons responsible with the procedures of carrying out of the planned activities, the management of tasks in Kanban system, the drawing up of Gantt charts etc. The employment of Odoo ERP in scheduling research activities is highly accessible and easily opens the possibility to connect with other Odoo modules (such as accounting module or e-signature module), thereby saving significant amount of time and efforts related to the analysis of project status data. Moreover, the project progresses can be tracked by using simple devices with an Internet browser and a stable connection, which allow the access to the application via modern Cloud technologies.

Abstract:
SUMMARYA new approach to motion planning for multiple robots with multi-mode operations is proposed in this paper. Although sharing a common workspace, the robots are assumed to perform periodical tasks independently. The goal is to schedule the motion trajectories of the robots so as to avoid collisions among them. Rather than assigning the robots with different priorities and planning safe motion for only one robot at a time, as is done in most previous studies, an efficient method is developed that can simultaneously generate collision-free motions for the robots with or without priority assignment. Being regarded as a type of job-shop scheduling, the problem is reduced to that of finding a minimaximal path in a disjunctive graph and solved by an extension of the Balas algorithm. The superiority of this approach is demonstrated with various robot operation requirements, including “non-priority”, “with-priority”, and “multicycle” operation modes. Some techniques for speeding up the scheduling process are also presented. The planning results can be described by Gantt charts and executed by a simple “stop-and-go” control scheme. Simulation results on different robot operation modes are also presented to show the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Abstract:
The natural parasitic behavior of parasitoids should be known by those in charge of planning strategies for the biological control of pests; therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the larval instar of Anticarsia gemmatalis Hübner parasitized by Microcharops anticarsiae Gupta in the field and the implication of such parasitic behavior in the sex ratio in the laboratory environment. The length of each larval instar of A. gemmatalis parasitized by M. anticarsiae in the field was determined, and the egg-to-pupa period of the parasitoid and its larval instar lengths were plotted in Gantt charts. According to the chart, A. gemmatalis was parasitized at the first (15%) and second (85%) larval instars in the field, but the length of the first, second and third larval instars of this species was not affected by the parasitism by M. anticarsiae in the field; however, its fourth larval instar was extended and the fifth one was shortened in 2015 but not affected in 2016. The sex ratio of A. gemmatalis larvae parasitized by M. anticarsiae in the field was female-biased, and the sex ratio of early parasitized larvae (3-day old) in the laboratory environment was also female-biased for three cultivated generations. The ‘generation’ factor has affected the egg-to-pupa, pupal and egg-to-adult periods of M. anticarsiae, since females pupated earlier than males in the egg-to-pupa period. Based on the results, M. anticarsiae mostly parasitized the second larval instar of A. gemmatalis in the field, and parasitism in 3-day old larvae in the laboratory environment produced female-biased sex ratio in M. anticarsiae, regardless of the generation.

Abstract:
Black soldier flies have been studied as an alternative animal feed. On the other hand, they could be used to yield an abundance of fatty acids. Their omnivorous diet and low space requirements allow for the mass breeding of black soldier flies, using widely available food wastes as feedstock. This study simulates the industrial upscaling of an extraction process for black soldier fly larvae using SuperPro™ 9.5 simulation software. This software contains an extensive material library that regulated physical data for the chemical composition of the larvae and the products. It also bundled several types of bioreactors utilized in bioprocessing. The scheduling of the plant was aided by SchedulePro, which allows for the generation of batch durations and Gantt charts. Four fatty acids were chosen as the main revenue source, with simulated proteins assigned as by-products of the plant. Ash and cellulose were the wastes of the plant, and were separated through multiple filters. The plants were later assessed for their economic feasibility. The kitchen waste plant was the most profitable, and the control variable was the only unprofitable plant. These results may have been impacted by the waste content found in the control variable and the abundance of revenue products in the kitchen-waste-fed larvae.

Abstract:
Production scheduling, which directly influences the completion time and throughput of workshops, has received extensive research. However, due to the high cost of real-world production verification, most literature did not verify the optimized scheduling scheme in real-world workshops. This paper studied the verification of scheduling schemes and environments, using a discrete event simulation (DES) platform. The aim of this study is to provide an efficient way to verify the correctness of scheduling environments established by programming languages and scheduling results obtained by intelligent algorithms. The system architecture of scheduling verification based on DES is established. The modelling approach via DES is proposed by designing parametric workshop generation, flexible production control, and real-time data processing. The popular distributed permutation flowshop scheduling problem is selected as a case study, where the optimal scheduling scheme obtained by a deep reinforcement learning algorithm is fed into the production simulation model in Plant Simulation software. The experiment results show that the proposed scheduling verification approach can validate the scheduling scheme and environment effectively. The utilization and Gantt charts clearly show the performance of scheduling schemes. This work can help to verify the scheduling schemes and programmed scheduling environment efficiently without costly real-world validation.

Abstract:
An unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem motivated by the scheduling of a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) under surface mount technology (SMT) is discussed in this paper. This problem involved machine eligibility restrictions, sequence-dependent setup times, precedence constraints, unequal job release times, and constraints of shared resources with the objectives of minimizing the makespan and the total job tardiness. Since this scheduling problem is NP-hard, a mathematical model was first built to describe the problem, and a heuristic approach using a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) was then designed to solve this bi-objective problem. Multiple near-optimal solutions were provided using the Pareto front solution and crowding distance concepts. To demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed approach, this study first tested the proposed approach by solving test problems on a smaller scale. It was found that the proposed approach could obtain optimal solutions for small test problems. A real set of work orders and production data was provided by a famous hardware manufacturer in Taiwan. The solutions suggested by the proposed approach were provided using Gantt charts to visually assist production planners to make decisions. It was found that the proposed approach could not only successfully improve the planning time but also provide several feasible schedules with equivalent performance for production planners to choose from.

Abstract:
Linear diagrams have been shown to compare favourably to better known forms of set visualization, such as Venn and Euler diagrams, in supporting non-interactive assessment of set relationships. Recent studies that compared several variants of linear diagrams have demonstrated that users perform best at tasks involving identification of intersections, disjointness and subsets when using a horizontally drawn linear diagram with thin lines representing sets and employing vertical lines as guide lines. The essential visual task the user needs to perform in order to interpret this kind of diagram is vertical alignment of parallel lines and detection of overlaps. Space-filling mosaic diagrams which support this same visual task have been used in other applications, such as the visualization of schedules of activities, where they have been shown to be superior to linear Gantt charts. In this article, we present an experimental comparison of linear and mosaic diagrams for visualization of set relationships, in terms of accuracy, time-to-answer and subjective ratings of perceived task difficulty. The findings show that the two visualizations are largely similar with respect to these measures, suggesting that the choice of one or the other may be solely guided by other visual design considerations. Mosaic diagrams might be more suitable, for instance, in cases where miniature diagrams representing overviews of relations in different collections of sets are required, such as in small-multiples displays.

Abstract. The article materials are accented to the identification of the concept of the innovative culture of personnel management and the possibility of implementing universal project management methods in its formation. The urgency of the research is determined, first of all, by the need for a constant dynamic correction of techniques and instrument management personnel in order to build an innovative culture of personnel management at domestic enterprises. When writing, analytical and statistical methods are used during the detection and processing of domestic and foreign statistical data, the method of expert assessments in the formation of structural models, historical and logical methods in the extrapolation of the state of the past years for the future. The article materials emphasize the definition and characteristics of the concept of «Innovative Culture of Personnel Management». It is determined that the practical implementation of the instrument of the personnel management of the enterprise needs to use innovative techniques. Among these techniques, it is crucial to underscore Gantt charts, the Dupon method and Game Theory, personal marketing management, and others. Particular attention is focused on a graphical display of a Gantt chart, which reflects the time interval from the time of decision-making on the introduction of innovative methods in managing personnel to increase labor productivity and the growth of other enterprise performance indicators. It is noted that when making decisions on the expediency of changing the existing personnel management culture at the enterprise, it is worth using neural network models based on which it is possible to reveal a causal relationship between the decision and the reaction of the entire organizational system or a separate personality. It is detected that one of the main methods of investigation of the probable results from the introduction of an innovative culture of personnel management at the enterprise is to identify strengths and weaknesses in the process of implementing changes. The study of the LIFT methodological approach that uses the tools of ballroom assessments of the groups of attractiveness indicators of decisions on introducing an innovative personnel management culture and indicators that determine their risks are distinguished. The probability and expediency of using GAP analysis for the comparative characteristics of actual and potential development opportunities are researched and analyzed. It is stated that the use of this information will distinguish at the expertise stage the possibility of practical implementation of an innovative culture tool in full or fragmented scope to determine the means and techniques that will give the greatest effect to develop the intellectual and labor potential of the enterprise. It is proposed to use GAP analysis when implementing an innovative personnel management culture for the restoration strategy and maintaining employees’ mental health, forcing the enterprise’s loyalty system, introducing the foundations of corporate and organizational culture of the enterprise. Abstract:
Pakistan will be 100 years by the end of mid-21st century. Within its continued lifespan, it has borne witness to various climate change hazards exclusively conveyed under the umbrella of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Reports (ARs). Recently published IPCC’s AR6 establishes its distinctiveness by addressing co-benefits, risks, interactions, trade-offs and economic development factors associated with magnitude of climate change factors, both regionally and globally. With heavy exposure to climate change indications in recent times, implications of such factors to shared socioeconomic narratives needed attention, especially over Pakistan region. To address this, a moderate resolution General Circulation Model (GCM) viz. MRI-ESM2-0 of Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 6 (CMIP6) was engaged to detect magnitude of potential risks associated with five Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs) in the future. Change in mean state of global climate extracted over local realm was integrated with Gantt-like charts to depict severity and abruptness of the studied pathways to potential threats and balances over provinces and regions of Pakistan. Results revealed realms of risk that potentially placed the provinces and the regions at par with globally provoked hazards, yet simultaneously co-befitted them with tradeoff of boosts in economic development based on fossil fuel investments. Nevertheless predictions of such nature are constrained with global and local policy interventions, and hence are conveyed as spectrum of potential implications of the global climate change on national realms in the future.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is cost optimization of project schedules under constrained resources and alternative production processes (APPs). Design/methodology/approach The model contains a cost objective function, generalized precedence relationship constraints, activity duration and start time constraints, lag/lead time constraints, execution mode (EM) constraints, project duration constraints, working time unit assignment constraints and resource constraints. The mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) superstructure of discrete solutions covers time–cost–resource options related to various EMs for project activities as well as variants for production process implementation. Findings The proposed model provides the exact optimal output data for project management, such as network diagrams, Gantt charts, histograms and S-curves. In contrast to classic scheduling approaches, here the optimal project structure is obtained as a model-endogenous decision. The project planner is thus enabled to achieve optimization of the production process simultaneously with resource-constrained scheduling of activities in discrete time units and at a minimum total cost. Practical implications A set of application examples are addressed on an actual construction project to display the advantages of proposed model. Originality/value The unique value this paper contributes to the body of knowledge reflects through the proposed MINLP model, which is capable of performing the exact cost optimization of production process (where presence and number of activities including their mutual relations are dealt as feasible alternatives, meaning not as fixed parameters) simultaneously with the associated resource-constrained project scheduling, whereby that is achieved within a uniform procedure.

Abstract:
The effective utilization of capacity is an important operational goal that managers strive to achieve. Most textbooks use the following simple “bottleneck formula” to illustrate the calculation of process capacity: the capacity of each resource is first calculated by examining that resource in isolation; process capacity is then taken as the smallest (bottleneck) among the resource capacities. The bottleneck formula is, in fact, an approximation of the true process capacity and correctly calculates capacity only in some straightforward settings, for example, in processes where each activity requires only one resource and in processes where each resource is dedicated to only one activity. However, when activities require multiple resources simultaneously (collaboration) and when resources are capable of doing multiple activities (multitasking), the simple formula can be significantly inaccurate. Further, several commonly held managerial insights related to process capacity and least-capacity resources that emerge from the formula can be misleading. The main goal of this case is to alert students that, for processes with collaboration and multitasking, the use of the bottleneck formula brings the potential danger of reaching incorrect conclusions about capacity and what constitutes a bottleneck of a process and may eventually lead to erroneous decisions with significant financial impact, for example, investing in procuring an expensive resource without being able to realize the presumed increase in capacity. More generally, the case illustrates the principles of process capacity and bottleneck structures and clarifies some often-repeated misunderstandings on the relationship between process capacity and least-capacity resources. The case also illustrates the importance of using Gantt charts for conveniently displaying schedules of activities.

The general strategies used are market penetration strategy and product development strategy. The SWOT matrix produces nine alternative strategy formulations. At the Decision Stage, QSPM uses an alternative strategy from the IE matrix, because it is considered that nine alternative strategies from the SWOT matrix have been reflected in the hold and maintain strategy.
