Abstract:
The name of Rabbi Barukh Schick of Shklov (1744–1808) does not figure in the pantheon of great eighteenth-century Jewish personalities, alongside those of R. Israel Ba′al Shem Tov, Moses Mendelssohn, and R. Elijah, the Vilna Gaon. Unlike the latter, his teachings were not distinguished by great originality or profundity, and they exerted rather limited influence. Indeed, Schick's name might well have fallen into total oblivion were it not for a few lines in the introduction to one of his books (a Hebrew translation of Euclid's Elements), in which he related certain remarks made to him by the V

This article examines three commentaries on the Aggadah story of the Talmudic sage Rabbah bar bar Hana’s incredible journeys: by the Maharal of Prague (16th cent.), the Gaon of Vilna (18th cent.) and Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav (end 18th – 19th cent.) While all three authors see the story in an allegorical vein, each one has their own focus and seems to wander away from the text proper and interpret it through the lens of their own set of ideas, be it philosophy, metaphysics, ethics, asceticism or mysticism. So Maharal of Prague sees the Haggadah as kind of philosophical and mystical treatise. H

An experiment was conducted to determine the effects of replacing full fat soybean meal with aqueous–heated, dry–heated and dehulled Bambara groundnuts (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc.) and benne seeds (Sesamum indicum) on performance characteristics and organ morphology of broiler chickens over a period of eight weeks. Anti-nutritional factors in the raw and processed plant seeds were determined. Higher amounts of haemagglutinin (HG) and trypsin inhibitor (TI) were found in the raw Bambara groundnuts, and tannin, phytate and oxalate in raw benne seeds respectively. Such critical stances to SHL instruction acknowledge the dynamic interplay between language, power, identity and ideology and aim to develop critical language awareness among students in which students gain an understanding of social hierarchies and language subordination. Abstract Background Chebulinic acid (CA), a natural compound isolated from the tree Terminalia chebula, was recently reported to have shown antiviral activity against Herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2). The study showed inhibition activity of CA, preventing the attachment of HSV-2 on the host cells. This activity was speculated to be due to an interaction between CA and viral surface glycoproteins, triggering alterations in its function or making virus particles inert and preventing their attachment to host cells. However, the mechanism of this inhibition was not established. The current study was

This is associated with a decline of early differentiated T cell populations in favour of later differentiated, dysfunctional subsets, resulting in an unfavourable skewing of the immune landscape. It is unknown whether this occurs locally within the antigen rich tumour microenvironment, driving immune failure.Materials and MethodsWe combined tumour infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) high dimensional flo
