This paper presents a novel methodology for steering a cooperative transportation system comprising two car-like mobile robots coupled together via a carrier. The system is a three-input seven-variable drift-free nonholonomic mechanical system. The three control inputs are the moving velocity of the first mobile robot and the steering angular velocities of the two mobile robots. The seven variables are the positions of the first mobile robot along the x- and y-axes, its steering angle, its orientation, the orientation of the carrier, the steering angle of the second mobile robot, and its orien

Cities have a large supply of garages that could be converted into affordable housing in single-family neighborhoods, but minimum parking requirements prevent converting most of these garages into apartments. We examine how cities can relax off-street parking requirements for houses with converted garages. In Residential Parking Permit Districts, cities can limit the number of on-street parking permits allowed at any address with a second unit. This policy can remove on-street parking congestion as a reason for neighbors to oppose garage conversions, double the potential number of housing unit

The purpose of this article is to examine the conversion of waste methane gas to renewable energy through environmental management. Processing organic waste is one kind of alternative energy that may be generated and regenerated. Garbage is a major issue for the majority of people, particularly the vast volume of market garbage. Waste processing and utilization technology is required. Implementing the 3R process of reduce, reuse, and recycle on fresh garbage not only generates useful goods, but also addresses the waste issue and generates revenue for those who wish to manage it. The conversion of waste obtained from agricultural processes into biocompatible materials (biomaterials) used in medical surgery is a strategy that will add more value in waste utilization. This strategy has successfully turned the rather untransformed wastes into high value products. Eggshell is an agricultural waste largely considered as useless and is discarded mostly because it contributes to pollution. This waste has potential for producing hydroxyapatite, a major component found in bone and teeth. Hydroxyapatite is an excellent material used in bone repair and tissue regeneration. The us

The book’s introductory chapter situates its study of American avant-garde cinema in the context of the field of film-philosophy and the post-theory debates within cinema studies. The chapter rectifies influential misreadings of American avant-garde films by film-philosophers, and goes on to trace philosophy’s influences on the avant-garde, laying the groundwork for putting their films in conversation with the philosophies of Gilles Deleuze, Stanley Cavell, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Ludwig Wittgenstein. This chapter outlines the various kinds of dimensional, conceptual, and material in-betweens at work in American avant-garde cinema, and explains the various ways in which American avant-garde filmmakers have used this figure to advance a philosophy that promotes behaviors of re-encounter and review applicable to the off-screen world.

Chapter 1 develops Feldman’s religious mystique in contrast to the politics of the 1960s neo-avant-garde. It begins with an analysis of Feldman’s distinction between mystique and politics as borrowed from Charles Péguy. Feldman elaborates this distinction through a critique of the neo-avant-garde whom he faults for failing to handle sound “with love and interest” and for substituting an “image of personality” in place of true artistic experience. Feldman develops instead a theistic conception of “sound itself” that was an unequivocal religious ideal he termed “abstract experience.” The chapter locates Feldman’s conversion toward this ideal within his early 1960s milieu, noting that it coincided with the beginning of his friendship with Mark Rothko (which he remembers occurring around 1962) and his immersion in the writings of Kierkegaard (a favorite author of Rothko).

While the scholarly narrative of Asian Canadian identity is often one of belatedness with regard to its American counterpart, the poetry of Fred Wah reveals a dynamic, diasporic context for Asian Canadian expression. While Wah’s poetry has often been read through its American avant-garde influences, his work from the mid-1980s onward focuses increasingly on biography under the influence of Asian Canadian activism. Wah’s book Waiting For Saskatchewan stitches together the techniques of American avant-garde poetry with Japanese poetic forms and the theme of diasporic return to China, creating a pan-ethnic, transnational aesthetic that is in conversation with Asian American models but distinct from its Canadian context.

Abstract:
The story of garbage processing is changing globally and is being considered as a potential option in the hierarchy of integrated solid waste management that involves stabilization of organic material by the joint action of earthworms and microorganisms. Vermicomposting is an economically viable technique in which the job is done by certain species of earthworms that enhances the process of waste conversion and produces a better end product vermicompost. Vermicompost is highly nutritive fertilizer and more powerful growth promoter over the conventional compost. It is rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium commonly referred as NPK, micronutrients, growth hormones and enzymes. Its commercialization is a good business opportunity and is emerging as an industry itself. The farmers need to raise the crops by organic farming that will reduce the cost and will decrease the impact on environment. The present chapter is an attempt to highlight different approaches of converting waste into vermicompost and the importance of vermicomposting as compared to synthetic fertilizers.
