This study was conducted to evaluate gastric acid secretion in acute renal failure, highlighting the roles of renal mass and gastrin hormone. Acute uremic rats were divided into bilateral nephrectomized and bilateral ureteric obstruction groups. Gastric juice was collected for 2 h and analyzed for volume, free acidity, total acidity, and total acid output. Plasma levels of creatinine, urea, and gastrin were also determined. Bilateral nephrectomized and bilateral ureteric obstruction groups showed a significant increase in levels of free acidity, total acidity, and plasma gastrin. Compared with

The gastric inhibitory agent(s) liberated from intestinal mucosa by the presence of fat has been named enterogastrone. Gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP), has been considered a candidate for enterogastrone. GIP is released into the circulation by infusion of fat into the proximal small bowel and inhibits gastric acid secretion under select experimental conditions. Trichinellosis is widespread in natural environments and natural biocenoses as a zoonosis and has important epidemiological and epizootological significance. In Russia, trichinellosis has been recorded in more than 50 species of wild and domestic animals. Uncontrolled use of meat products from wild animals as well as insufficient thermal meat treatment can result in infection foci among humans, therefore early diagnosis of the disease is important.
