Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
This thesis is focused on the development, preclinical evaluation, and optimization of radiotracers for the detection of gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR)-expressing tumors. The work is divided into three distinct parts: (1) the development of bombesin (BN) antagonist (RM26)-based imaging radiotracers for the detection of GRPR-expressing tumors using different positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) radionuclides (68Ga, 18F and 111In), (2) the establishment of a method to monitor the ligand-G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) interaction

Abstract:
The effect of the protease inhibitors BBI and aprotinin on the in vitro clonal growth of two human small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cell lines was investigated. Also, the effect of BBI on processing of proGRP and on mRNA levels for prohormone convertase 1 and 2 (PC1 and PC2) in SCLC cells was examined. Finally, the in vivo distribution of a BN/GRP receptor antagonist in mice was studied. In vitro growth of NCI-H345 and NCI-N592 SCLC cells was inhibited by the protease inhibitors BBI and aprotinin. When NCI-H345 cells were incubated with BBI and BN in the same plates, the addition of BN appeared t

Abstract:
Post-traumatic stress disorder is a disorder characterized by an inability to extinguish traumatic memories and heightened reactivity to emotional stimuli. Due to the heightened resistance of traumatic memories to extinction, treatment for PTSD has been challenging and is limited to behavioral therapies targeted at reducing responsivity to threatening stimuli. Currently there are no standard pharmacological interventions that are specific to PTSD; rather, drugs used appear to target symptoms of some of the co-morbid conditions, such as anxiety (e.g. benzodiazepines) or depression (antidepressa
