Global climate change is becoming a central issue in contemporary science as well as politics. There is a long-lasting debate about the cause of the climate change: anthropogenic activity versus the natural cycle. Abstract:
We synthesized a range of geographically-explicit forest, grassland and cropland biomass and soil carbon input data sources and used geographic information systems (GIS) software to calculate new estimates of soil and biomass carbon stocks for use with global economic models, particularly for the Global Trade and Analysis Project (GTAP). Our results quantify the average amount of carbon stored in soil and biomass in each of the 246 countries, stratified by agro-ecological zones (available in the accompanying spreadsheet). We also provide the data aggregated to the 134 regions defined for the G

Full text
Abstract:
The natural gas pipeline industry is rapidly implementing comprehensive integrity management practices to meet the demands of new regulatory imperatives and public interests. These new demands require formal integrity management planning programs be developed and applied where pipeline failures could affect High Consequence Areas. A formal integrity management plan (IMP) incorporates some process for identifying threats to a pipeline's integrity. Such threats come in many forms and are uniquely dependent on a wide range of attributes associated with an individual pipeline segment. Interest (o

Finkelstein-Shapiro, Alan, and Victoria Nuguer. Research Insights: How Do Firm Digital Adoption Policies Impact Labor Markets and Economic Recovery during the COVID-19 Pandemic? Inter-American Development Bank, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0004421.

Full text
Abstract:
In response to a shock such as the COVID-19 pandemic, a policy that facilitates firm digital adoption can, in the short run, accelerate the recovery of GDP, total employment, and labor income. In the medium run, the policy decreases total employment and the labor force participation rate due to a rise in households opportunity cost of working. However, this comes with higher levels of GDP and labor income, greater average firm productivity, a larger formal employment share, and a marginally lower unemployment rate.

Full text
Abstract:
Dithiazine is a compound formed after passage of natural gas or renewable natural gas containing hydrogen sulfide through amine based hydrogen sulfide liquid scavenger towers. Similar to elemental sulfur, dithiazine can solidify at pressure or temperature reduction points and result in potential equipment issues. This study summarizes the state of monitoring dithiazine in gaseous fuels and assesses the potential for selected gas analyzers to continuously monitor dithiazine on-line or be developed for this application.

Abstract:
This study conducted an economic analysis of future US forest mitigation potential using a detailed economic model of the global forestry sector. The scenario design included a wide range of possible future carbon price incentives and climate policy structures (unilateral and global mitigation). Results across all scenarios show US forest sector mitigation potential ranging from 54 to 292 MtCO2e between 2015 and 2030 (5 to 47 percent of the additional mitigation needed to achieve the 26 to 28 percent emissions reduction target). The results from this study suggest that the US forest sector can
