Rypsin ja rapsin viljelyyn ei ole toistaiseksi löytynyt tehokasta rikkakasvien torjuntamenetelmää. Trifluraliinin käyttöä öljykasvien rikkatorjunnassa rajoittaa sen maalaji- ja sääriippuvuus sekä käyttötapa kylvömuokkauksen yhteydessä. Trifluraliinia ei myöskään voi käyttää suorakylvön yhteydessä. Kevätrypsin satotason nostaminen on yksi öljykasvien viljelyn keskeisimmistä tavoitteista. Hybridirypsit mahdollistaisivat satotason nostamisen vähintään 10 – 20 %:lla sekä lisäisivät elinvoimaisuutta ja satovarmuutta vaihtelevissa kasvuoloissa. Ongelmat kylvön onnistumisessa ovat yleensä savi- ja hiesumailla paljon suuremmat kuin hieta- tai multamailla. Viruksien käyttö tuotekehityksen ja tutkimuksen vaatimien proteiinien tuottamiseen, syötävien rokotteiden kehittämiseen ja geeniterapiaan edustavat kasvavia biotekniikan sovellusalueita. Tutkimme mansikan kukinnan säätelyä käyttämällä mallikasvina ahomansikkaa (Fragaria vesca L.). Aho-mansikka on ehdollinen lyhyenpäivänkasvi, jonka päivänpituusvaste riippuu voimakkaasti lämpötilasta. Yli 15 ºC:een lämpötilassa kukintainduktio tapahtuu vain lyhyessä päivänpituudessa. ABSTRACTThe performance of the new Bio-Rad Geenius HIV-1/2 confirmatory assay was compared with that of the Chiron RIBA HIV-1/HIV-2 strip immunoblot assay using 166 samples from HIV-1-, HIV-2-, or HIV-1/2-positive and HIV-negative individuals and two quality control panels.
