Abstract:
The concept of unconscious represents a phenomenon whose history hasn’t been discussed at all within academic spaces meant for this. Its history is still not well known and, specifically at Brazilian undergraduate curriculums, all points that the most important part of the research traditions that created it is not transmitted, be it for the intrinsic politics and ideologies of the undergraduate programs, be it for mere ignorance. The present work proposes to tell a part of this story, being based, specially, upon the works of the Swiss-Canadian psychiatrist Henri F. Ellenberger. For such enterprise, it will be necessary to line out some contours and contexts that circumscribe the relation of this concept with the German Romanticism, pointing out the impact that different concepts of Man and Nature that came from there left as legacy for the current times. Obviously, without having the ambition of mirroring all of this topic’s coverage in this article, at least it seeks to present a frame of the innumerous windings that this concept carries from past centuries, enclosing a brief chronology of names, times and thought.

Abstract:
Abstract There has always been a tension between Jesus of History and Christ of Faith. The figure of Jesus and the faith in Him as Christ are historical. History is a space to bring together both. Without Jesus of History, Christian faith is empty. Similarly, without the faith of the first Christian community, the figure of Jesus is nothing. The historicity of Jesus stands along with the historicity of faith in Him. Of course, above all is God’s work in history. On the one hand, using the research and discussion of the historical Jesus, this article shows that archaeological findings should influence Christianity to reconstruct faith, and reflects that history is a medium for God’s work. On the other hand, using some other writings this article shows that the work of God in history is the art of God’s entrepreneurship, including God’s work in Jesus Christ. Incarnational theology is based on the historical figure, Jesus of Nazareth.

Abstract:
Germany and all things German have long been the primary concern ofCentral European History(CEH), yet the journal has also been intimately tied to the lands of the former Habsburg monarchy. As the editor stated in the first issue, published in March 1968,CEHemerged “in response to a widespread demand for an American journal devoted to the history of German-speaking Central Europe,” following the demise of theJournal of Central European Affairsin 1964. The Conference Group for Central European History sponsoredCEH, as well as the recently mintedAustrian History Yearbook(AHY). Robert A. Kann, the editor ofAHY, sat on the editorial board ofCEH, whose second issue featured a trenchant review by István Deák of Arthur J. May'sThe Passing of the Habsburg Monarchy, 1914–1918. The third issue contained the articles “The Defeat of Austria-Hungary in 1918 and the Balance of Power” by Kann, and Gerhard Weinberg's “The Defeat of Germany in 1918 and the Balance of Power.” That same year,East European Quarterlypublished its first issue.

Abstract:
On May 4, 2006, French and German cultural ministers announced the publication of Histoire/Geschichte, the world's first secondary school history textbook produced jointly by two countries. Authored by a team of French and German historians and published simultaneously in both languages, the book's release drew considerable public attention. French and German heads-of-state readily pointed to the joint history textbook as a shining example of the close and positive relations between their two countries, while their governments heralded the book for “symbolically sealing Franco-German reconciliation.” Beyond European shores, East Asian commentators in particular have taken note of Franco-German textbook collaboration, citing it as a possible model for how to work through their own region's often antagonistic past. Diplomatic praise is not mere hyperbole. From the Franco-Prussian War (1870) through World War I (1914–1918) and World War II (1939–1945), France and Germany were widely perceived to be “hereditary enemies.” The publication of Histoire/Geschichte embodies one of the most crucial developments in modern international relations: the emergence of France and Germany as the “linchpin” of the New Europe.

Abstract:
Why study the history of modern German-speaking Central Europe? If pressed to answer this question fifty years ago, a Germanist would likely have said something to the effect that one studies modern German history to trace the “German” origins of Nazism, with the broader aim of understanding authoritarianism. While the problem of authoritarianism clearly remains relevant to this day, the nation-state-centered approach to understanding it has waned, especially in light of the recent shift toward transnational and global history. The following essay focuses on the issue of authoritarianism, asking whether the study of German history is still relevant to authoritarianism. It begins with a review of two conventional approaches to understanding authoritarianism in modern German history, and then thinks about it in a different way through G. W. F. Hegel in an effort to demonstrate the vibrancy of German intellectual history for exploring significant and global issues such as authoritarianism.

Thanks to the Charter granted in 1550 by King Edward VI, the Dutch refugees were allowed to start their services in the church of the old monastery of the Augustine Friars. What makes the history of the Dutch Church in London so special is the fact that the church can lay claim to being the oldest institutionalised Dutch protestant church in the world. As such it was a source of inspiration for the protestant church in the Netherlands in its formative years during the sixteenth century. Despite its long history, the Dutch Church is still alive and well today. Abstract:
Because of its cryptic nature apocalypse Daniel 7 has been interpreted in many ways. Often it is linked to the end of time teachings. This kind of interpretation is problematic. First, while emphasizing the dark side of the prophecy, it fails to capture its main intention which is optimism toward the future. Second, apocalypse contains dualistic ideas, but, they are not supposed to be separated, let alone taking one side over the other. Apocalyptic dualism should be treated as an oscillating, always negotiating positions, tensional but creativecollisions. This article shows a reading of apocalypse that reveals dualism as an integrated entity. It also considers theological consequences of such a reading. While being placed within the world’s history, God is deeply involved in worldly drama which consists of tragedy, as well as, comedy. On the political side, this reading demonstrates that imperial history does not run by itself, but, always prones to subversive movements.
