Abstract The PHYA gene is one of the genes that play a role in the shade avoidance mechanism. The study aimed to design specific primers for the PHYA gene in sorghum plants and optimize the DNA amplification process. Primers were designed using the Primer3 Plus online tool, and primers were generated and tested on 14 Indonesian sorghum varieties. Gene amplification with PCR technology requires PHYA-specific primers. The amplification rate reached 100% with aneling temperatures ranging from 54-55°C specific to each primer.

An analysis of the allelic composition of the genes determining photoperiodic sensitivity (Ppd-D1) and the need for vernalization (Vrn-A1, Vrn-B1, Vrn-D1) was carried out in 286 common wheat lines obtained in the National Center of Grain named after P. P. Lukyanenko with the use of allele-specific primers. The analyzed samples were distributed over 21 haplotypes; the dominant allele of the Ppd-D1a gene prevailed in the studied material. 123 lines of common wheat carry a combination of D-RRD alleles. The lines that can be attributed to the group of alternate wheat (R-RDR, R-RRD) were identified

Leptospirosis is a worldwide zoonotic disease. Pathogenesis of leptospirosis is not well understood. Identification of virulence factors of pathogenic Leptospira and their roles in pathogenesis is crucial. Based on available whole-genome sequences of Leptospira, two presumptive virulence genes which are homologous to the invasionA (invA) gene of Rickettsia prowazekii and the mammalian cell entry (mce) gene of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, have been identified. The function of these genes may involve in the attachment and invasion of eukaryotic cells. We proposed that these gene homologues should

To determine whether the high or low level of RDR1 transcript accumulation observed in virus resistant and susceptible cultivars is associated with viral resistance and susceptibility. 3. We are using tomato as a target, but also as a model for many other crops. Our focus is on two different components of yield associated traits - shoot architecture and organization of the inflorescence. Our focus was on two types of regulators; 1) genes involved in florigen - antiflogen balance and the way they impact the shoot, and 2) genes involved in inflorescence branching and it this

Grapevine is perhaps the most widely grown fruit crop. To understand the genetic make-up so as to improve the yield and quality of grapes and grape products, researchers in Europe have recently sequenced the genomes of Pinot noir and its inbred. As expected, function of many grape genes is unknown. Functional genomics studies have become the major focus of grape researchers and breeders. Current genetic approaches for gene function studies include mutagenesis, crossing and genetic transformation.
