La nostra attualità ci interroga sulla comprensione della guerra e sullo statuto del suo rapporto con la politica. Questo lavoro si misura con tale questione e lo fa a partire dalle riflessioni di Michel Foucault sull’argomento. Anche grazie al riferimento ai manoscritti inediti del filosofo francese, conservati presso gli archivi del “Fonds Foucault” alla Bibliothèque nationale de France, si dimostra che le analisi foucaultiane sul tema, le quali non sempre hanno ricevuto un’adeguata attenzione, rivestono in realtà un’importanza decisiva all’interno dell’opera dell’autore. A partire da questo primo piano di indagine viene quindi sviluppato un secondo percorso di ricerca, intrecciato rispetto al precedente: le riflessioni di Foucault vengono messe in relazione con le posizioni di Carl Schmitt – un confronto tra due diverse genealogie che è stato raramente praticato e sul quale la letteratura critica è all’oggi ancora esigua. Tenendo conto dei materiali non ancora pubblicati, viene mostrato infatti che il modello polemocritico foucaultiano si costruisce sulla base di alcune rilevanti prossimità teoriche rispetto alla formulazione schmittiana della teoria del politico e si sviluppa come una critica radicale verso questa. Pensare Foucault come critico di Schmitt si rivela non solo importante ai fini della comprensione del pensiero del filosofo francese, ma anche fondamentale per indagare l’attualità dei due autori rispetto alla questione della guerra. È questa infatti la domanda di ricerca che percorre sottotraccia l’intero lavoro.
The issue of war, its status and its relationship to politics is one of the most pressing key problems of our time. I analyze this subject starting from the reflections of Michel Foucault. By examining the author’s unpublished manuscripts, located at the ‘Fonds Foucault’ at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, I show that although the analysis of war played a decisive role in Foucault’s thought, this subject has not always received adequate attention in scholarship. Following this first line of investigation, I then propose a second line of inquiry, which consists in putting Foucault’s reflections in relation to those of Carl Schmitt: a comparison between two different genealogies which has rarely been examined and on which the critical literature is still scant today. Considering the unpublished materials, I show that the Foucaultian’s polemocritical model has some relevant theoretical proximity to the Schmittian theory of the political, and in fact develops as a radical critique of it. Rethinking Foucault as a critic of Schmitt proves to be not only important in order to understand the French philosopher’s thought, but also fundamental to explore the relevance of these two authors on the topic of war. This is the research question that runs through the entire work.
Notre actualité nous interroge sur la compréhension de la guerre et sur le statut de ses relations avec la politique. Ce travail examine cette question et il le fait à partir des réflexions de Michel Foucault sur le sujet. En nous appuyant aux manuscrits inédits du philosophe, conservés dans les archives du « Fonds Foucault » à la Bibliothèque nationale de France, nous montrons que les analyses foucaldiennes sur ce thème, qui n'ont pas toujours reçu la juste attention, jouent en réalité un rôle déterminant dans l’œuvre de l'auteur. À partir de cette première investigation l’on a développé un deuxième parcours de recherche, lié au précédent : les réflexions de Foucault sont mises en relation avec celles de Carl Schmitt – une comparaison entre deux différentes généalogies qui a rarement été établie, sur laquelle la littérature critique reste encore très modeste aujourd'hui. Compte tenu des matériaux non encore publiés, nous montrons que le modèle polémocritique foucaldien se construit sur la base de certaines proximités théoriques importantes autour de la formulation schmittienne de la théorie du politique et se développe comme une critique radicale de celle-ci. Penser Foucault comme critique de Schmitt se révèle non seulement décisif pour comprendre la pensée du philosophe français, mais fondamental aussi pour enquêter l’actualité de ces deux auteurs par rapport à la question de la guerre. C’est finalement ce sujet qui traverse tout au long ce travail.

L'obbiettivo di questa ricerca è di interrogare, a partire da una traccia di metodo foucaultiana, un campo problematico attuale: l'essere situati nell'Occidente postcoloniale al tempo in cui il lavoro migrante ripropone una serie di conflitti che, segnati dall'eredità coloniale, stentano ad essere definiti in senso preciso, men che meno in senso politico. Sulla scorta dei Postcolonial Studies, e in particolare dei Subaltern Studies, il problema è vedere come una serie di pratiche discorsive eurocentriche, prodotte e circolanti dal periodo coloniale, abbiano contribuito a nascondere il significato politico di comportamenti, rituali, lotte e forme di resistenza, messi in atto dai subalterni colonizzati. Rispetto alla configurazione di un capitalismo postcoloniale globale, è necessario individuare un dispositivo politico, definire una lente attraverso la quale guardare a quelle forme di soggettivazione che si svolgono secondo strumenti e pratiche diversi da quelli attraverso i quali siamo soliti pensare le categorie classiche del politico. Una di queste categorie risiede nel dispositivo giuridico-discorsivo legato allo statuto della cittadinanza: problematizzare il nesso cittadinanza-democrazia significa sondare il funzionamento della governamentalità postcoloniale. In questo senso, i corsi di Foucault su Le Gouvernement de soi et des autres costituiscono un punto d'osservazione privilegiato per mettere in discussione le origini della tradizione occidentale: il riferimento ai processi costitutivi della democrazia greca rappresenta l'occasione per riaprire dall'interno i rapporti tra critica dell'esistente e invenzione politica; rapporti costantemente da ridiscutere, anche a costo di cambiare i nomi della politica.

Le travail vise a etablir les bases d'une mediation esthetique dans le cadre du texte ecrit. Il s'agit donc aussi d'un travail sur la lecture et l'ecriture. L'objectif est la description du proces de mediation tel qu'il a lieu dans la lecture. Dans cet objectif, on reintroduit au texte son destinataire, en procedant a l'analyse contrastee de textes litteraires et de lettres d'amour non fictives. On procede a l'examen precis du cadre semiotique pour montrer en quoi, pris dans la structure du code, il ne peut rendre compte d'un proces de mediation. Il s'agit donc de partir de la linguistique (y compris lacanienne) et de la semiotique pour aboutir a une esthetique, ou le concept d'ideal occupe une place semblable dans le texte a celle de la perspective en peinture. On y decrit un concept de figure susceptible de rendre compte d'une mediation sans autre. On y construit un modele de la mediation telle qu'elle est mise en oeuvre dans la lecture a partir des travaux de j. Derrida et j. L. Nancy, principalement, et notamment en reinscrivant l'imaginaire dans son rapport au symbolique et en construisant, a partir du scriptible de barthes, le concept d'interscripteur. Ce modele est ensuite, dans une seconde partie, mis a l'epreuve de la lecture des textes cites plus haut. A partir de la, le concept de mediation esthetique est operatoire comme tel pour le texte. Son avantage est qu'il permet une articulation avec la communication institutionnelle (mediatique), qu'il permet de rendre compte du sens comme du plaisir.

Avec la modernite, la tolerance a pris un sens nouveau. Jusqu'alors l'objet de la tolerance etait les faiblesses et les particularites du caractere d'autrui que chacun se doit, dans une certaine mesure, d'endurer. Cette tolerance, nommee ici originaire, est desormais accompagnee par une autre forme de tolerance, nommee moderne, et qui consiste a refuser la violence exercee au nom d'un principe transcendant pour lui substituer l'autorite d'un principe immanent. Ce principe n'est autre que la liberte de la conscience et l'interiorisation du rapport a la verite. La genealogie de ce principe conduit a la saisie du concept de tolerance moderne. Avec la revolution francaise, la tolerance devient valeur sacree. Elle produit peu a peu ses effets dans tous les domaines de la culture. On a voulu montrer que la tolerance ne saurait etre confondue avec le relativisme et qu'elle comporte necessairement des limites. Exactement, si les limites de la tolerance sont variables et objets de debats, la necessite de la limite est indiscutable. De meme, on ne saurait confondre la tolerance moderne avec ses perversions que sont l'indifference nihiliste ou le respect universel. La tolerance n'est ni une panacee ni un ideal, elle est plutot la reconnaisance par chacun de la liberte de tous et le consentement aux consequences legitimes d'une telle reconnaissance
Along with modernity, tolerance has taken on a new meaning. Until then, matters of tolerance were the weaknesses and character peculiarities of others which everyone has to endure, up to a certain point. This tolerance, here named primeval, coexists nowadays with another form of tolerance, named modern, which consists in refusing the violence exerted in virtue of a principle of transcendency to replace it by the authority of a principle of immanence. This principle is nothing but the freedom of conscience and the interiorization of man's relation to truth. The genealogy of this principle leads to a full grasp of the concept of modern tolerance. With the french revolution, tolerance acquires a sacred value. Tolerance gradually becomes effective in all the fields of culture. Here, tolerance has been shown to be quite remote from relativism, hence it necessarily includes limits. More precisely, if the limits of tolerance can vary and be debated, the necessity of a limit is unquestionable. Likewise, one should not mistake modern tolerance with its perversions : nihilistic indifference or universal respect. Tolerance is neither a panacea nor an ideal, it is more an acknowledgement by everyone of each person's freedom and the acceptance of the justifiable consequences of such acknowledgement

A partir de 1760 et jusqu'en 1808, c'est-a-dire pendant environ un demi-siecle, un processus de mutation culturelle connu sous le nom d'ilustracion a eu lieu dans la viceroyaute de nouvelle-grenade. Une de principales consequences de ce phenomene sera l'apparition de ce nouvelle groupe culturelle, les eclaires, que nous avons etudie dans ce travail. Le resultat le plus significatif de ce processus semble avoir ete l'emergence, dans une culture relativement homogene, dominee par une vision religieuse du monde, d'une nouvelle conception dans laquelle l'exploitation rationnelle des ressources naturelles, basee sur le savoir, ira de pair avec un debut de secularisation de certains spheres de la vie sociale. Le territoire sera alors explore et, d'une maniere generale la vie sociale et individuelle sera revalorisee. En plus du salut, l'ideal dominant de la vie sociale des siecles xvie-et xviie et d'une grande partie du xviiie siecle, on cherchera aussi le bonheur sur la terre par l'enrichissement materiel ; ces ideaux son nouveaux et modifient les finalites jusque la assignees a la vie sociale. Toutefois, la permanence de l'idee religieuse de salut fera en sorte que la mutation s'effectue sans cassure brutale. Continuite et changement seront alors presents. Egalement et pour cela, tradition et modernite feront une combinaison de grandes originalites
From aproximately 1760-1808, that is around half a century, a cultural transformation process known as la ilustracion took place in the new grenade viceroyalty. One of the main consequences of this phenomenon whas the appearance of a group of intellectuals named as los ilustrados whose central features are carefully studied in the different chapters of this research. The most meaningful result of the mentioned transformation process was the emergence, within a relatively homogeneous culture, always dominated by a religious world perspective, of a new social life vision, according to which the rational exploitation of natural ressources, on the basis of science, will parallel the begining of a secularization process in some realms of the society. The new grenade territory was traveled and explored and, in a more general sense, the social and individual life was valued as a world perspective. Beyond salvation, the dominant ideal, of social life during the xvi and xvii, and most of the xviii century, happiness on earth by the way of material enrichment and earth exploitation will be looked for. Nevertheless, the salvation idea didn't dissappear, embedded into a partial and limited mutation, wich didn't produce either a radical rupture. Therefore, it cant be conceived as a phenomenon which combined continuity and transformation in an original way, giving place to a particular synthesis between tradition and modernity

Notre actualité nous interroge sur la compréhension de la guerre et sur le statut de ses relations avec la politique. Ce travail examine cette question et il le fait à partir des réflexions de Michel Foucault sur le sujet. En nous appuyant aux manuscrits inédits du philosophe, conservés dans les archives du « Fonds Foucault » à la Bibliothèque nationale de France, nous montrons que les analyses foucaldiennes sur ce thème, qui n'ont pas toujours reçu la juste attention, jouent en réalité un rôle déterminant dans l’œuvre de l'auteur. À partir de cette première investigation l’on a développé un deuxième parcours de recherche, lié au précédent : les réflexions de Foucault sont mises en relation avec celles de Carl Schmitt – une comparaison entre deux différentes généalogies qui a rarement été établie, sur laquelle la littérature critique reste encore très modeste aujourd'hui. Compte tenu des matériaux non encore publiés, nous montrons que le modèle polémocritique foucaldien se construit sur la base de certaines proximités théoriques importantes autour de la formulation schmittienne de la théorie du politique et se développe comme une critique radicale de celle-ci. Penser Foucault comme critique de Schmitt se révèle non seulement décisif pour comprendre la pensée du philosophe français, mais fondamental aussi pour enquêter l’actualité de ces deux auteurs par rapport à la question de la guerre. C’est finalement ce sujet qui traverse tout au long ce travail
The issue of war, its status and its relationship to politics is one of the most pressing key problems of our time. I analyze this subject starting from the reflections of Michel Foucault. By examining the author’s unpublished manuscripts, located at the ‘Fonds Foucault’ at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, I show that although the analysis of war played a decisive role in Foucault’s thought, this subject has not always received adequate attention in scholarship. Following this first line of investigation, I then propose a second line of inquiry, which consists in putting Foucault’s reflections in relation to those of Carl Schmitt: a comparison between two different genealogies which has rarely been examined and on which the critical literature is still scant today. Considering the unpublished materials, I show that the Foucaultian’s polemocritical model has some relevant theoretical proximity to the Schmittian theory of the political, and in fact develops as a radical critique of it. Rethinking Foucault as a critic of Schmitt proves to be not only important in order to understand the French philosopher’s thought, but also fundamental to explore the relevance of these two authors on the topic of war. This is the research question that runs through the entire work
La nostra attualità ci interroga sulla comprensione della guerra e sullo statuto del suo rapporto con la politica. Questo lavoro si misura con tale questione e lo fa a partire dalle riflessioni di Michel Foucault sull’argomento. Anche grazie al riferimento ai manoscritti inediti del filosofo francese, conservati presso gli archivi del “Fonds Foucault” alla Bibliothèque nationale de France, si dimostra che le analisi foucaultiane sul tema, le quali non sempre hanno ricevuto un’adeguata attenzione, rivestono in realtà un’importanza decisiva innanzitutto all’interno dell’opera dell’autore. A partire da questo primo piano di indagine viene quindi sviluppato un secondo percorso di ricerca, intrecciato rispetto al precedente: le riflessioni di Foucault vengono messe in relazione con le posizioni di Carl Schmitt – un confronto tra due diverse genealogie che è stato raramente praticato e sul quale la letteratura critica è all’oggi ancora esigua. Tenendo conto dei materiali non ancora pubblicati, viene mostrato infatti che il modello polemocritico foucaultiano si costruisce sulla base di alcune rilevanti prossimità teoriche rispetto alla formulazione schmittiana della teoria del politico e si sviluppa come una critica radicale verso questa. Pensare Foucault come critico di Schmitt si rivela non solo importante ai fini della comprensione del pensiero del filosofo francese, ma anche fondamentale per indagare l’attualità dei due autori rispetto alla questione della guerra. È questa infatti la domanda di ricerca che percorre sottotraccia l’intero lavoro
