Abstract:
In the last 15-20 years, the character of genealogical research has transformed gradually. Thus, genealogy is changing into a modern academic discipline. The modern genealogy is supported by digitization of public and genealogical records. At the same time, the new technologies are affecting the development of home-based genealogical research services. The goal of this paper is to offer more ways of encouraging entrepreneurship for genealogists, including the role of the education system and research skills that are especially critical in the field of genealogy and in genealogists' success in their business

Abstract:
Abstract Why would philosophers interested in the points or functions of our conceptual practices bother with genealogical explanations if they can focus directly on paradigmatic examples of the practices we now have?? To answer this question, I compare the method of pragmatic genealogy advocated by Edward Craig, Bernard Williams, and Miranda Fricker—a method whose singular combination of fictionalising and historicising has met with suspicion—with the simpler method of paradigm-based explanation. Fricker herself has recently moved towards paradigm-based explanation, arguing that it is a more perspicuous way of reaping the same explanatory pay-off as pragmatic genealogy while dispensing with its fictionalising and historicising. My aim is to determine when and why the reverse movement from paradigm-based explanation to pragmatic genealogy remains warranted. I argue that the fictionalising and historicising of pragmatic genealogy is well motivated, and I outline three ways in which the method earns its keep: by successfully handling historically inflected practices which paradigm-based explanation cannot handle; by revealing and arguing for connections to generic needs we might otherwise miss; and by providing comprehensive views of practices that place and relate the respects in which they serve both generic and local needs.

Abstract:
Product variation and customization is a trend in current market-oriented manufacturing environment. Product configuration is the key technology in this customization environment. But complex customer requirements are still hard to resolve. So the purpose of this study is to offering a new intelligent configuration algorithm to this problem, which is based on Product Family Genealogy Model (PFG). Characteristics of customer group, modules and product platform are discussed to build a PFG model - a hierarchy of reasonable configuration models. Based on it, both the customer requirements and constraints are classified and treated respectively. So the product configuration task can be easily accomplished by four sequenced stages i.e. “PFG position”, “key configuration”, “basic configuration”, and “form configuration”. Finally, an example of desktop configuration is presented to demonstrate this approach.

Rhee, Kun-Woo. "Shinsenshojiroku and Geneology and Geneological Table in Ancient Japan." Korean Association For Japanese History 58 (August 31, 2022): 37–70. http://dx.doi.org/10.24939/kjh.2022.8.58.37.

Abstract:
Since the remaining Shinsenyojiroku is a summary, there is a limit to understanding its full extent. As a way to supplement this, we looked at the contents and characteristics of genealogy and genealogical table in ancient Japan. As a result of this review, it was confirmed that the concept of genealogy and genealogical table in ancient Japan is very different from the descendant group logic that we commonly know. In particular, it has been found that it is difficult to apply the paternal principle, which can be seen in the current genealogy of Korea, to ancient Japanese society. Representatively, even in the case of the succession of the political head's position, it was not necessary to have father-to-son relationships, but it was possible that a wide range of relatives or sons-in-law succeed the position. In the case of Silla, there are cases that the throne was handed down to the son-in-law. Talhae, King Namhae's son-in-law, ascended the throne, and Michu was also King Jeomhae's son-in-law. In addition, as seen in the genealogy centered on Prince Shotoku and Tachibana, it can be confirmed that there was a classified genealogy that marked both paternal and maternal families, such as recording the parents of two people and their parents together. In this case, the descendants may again claim their affiliation to both the paternal and maternal families. A specific example is Mononobe Yugehi no Moriya. In addition, Doukyou, who is not a direct descendant of Moriya, also tried to rise to the post of prime minister through Moriya. This can be said that Uji is adjusted in a strong political intention rather than reflecting a realistic blood relationship. Finally, we looked at Wake's genalogical table. Based on Inaginoobito's genealogy, firstly the genealogy of Iyowakenokimi and others were joined, and finally the genealogy of Takekunikoriwake seen in Nihonsioki and others was joined. Therefore, in the case of the genalogical table, it is believed that the genealogy of the clan, which was not completed with a neat genealogy centered on the origin, was often combined with the genealogy of the father, mother and the same job relationship. As such, Uji's important function was to show the origin of the position and function. Considering Shinsenshojiroku's record, it is essential to keep in mind these characteristics of ancient Japanese Uji.

Abstract:
AbstractConsider a haploid population of fixed finite size with a finite number of allele types and having Cannings exchangeable genealogy with neutral mutation. The stationary distribution of the Markov chain of allele counts in each generation is an important quantity in population genetics but has no tractable description in general. We provide upper bounds on the distributional distance between the Dirichlet distribution and this finite-population stationary distribution for the Wright–Fisher genealogy with general mutation structure and the Cannings exchangeable genealogy with parent independent mutation structure. In the first case, the bound is small if the population is large and the mutations do not depend too much on parent type; 'too much' is naturally quantified by our bound. In the second case, the bound is small if the population is large and the chance of three-mergers in the Cannings genealogy is small relative to the chance of two-mergers; this is the same condition to ensure convergence of the genealogy to Kingman's coalescent. These results follow from a new development of Stein's method for the Dirichlet distribution based on Barbour's generator approach and a probabilistic description of the semigroup of the Wright–Fisher diffusion due to Griffiths and Li (1983) and Tavaré (1984).

Abstract:
SummaryThe degree of starshape of a genealogy is readily detectable using summary statistics and can be taken as a surrogate for the effect of past demography and other non-neutral forces. Summary statistics such as Tajima's D and related measures are commonly used for this. However, it is well known that because of their neglect of the genealogy underlying a sample such neutrality tests are far from ideal. Here, we investigate the properties of two types of summary statistics that are derived by considering the genealogy: (i) genealogical ratios based on the number of mutations on the rootward branches, which can be inferred from sequence data using a simple algorithm and (ii) summary statistics that use properties of a perfectly star-shaped genealogy. The power of these measures to detect a history of exponential growth is compared with that of standard summary statistics and a likelihood method for the single and multi-locus case. Statistics that depend on pairwise measures such as Tajima's D have comparatively low power, being sensitive to the random topology of the underlying genealogy. When analysing multi-locus data, we find that the genealogical measures are most powerful. Provided reliable outgroup information is available they may constitute a useful alternative to full likelihood estimation and standard tests of neutrality.

Abstract:
Interpretation of almost all the eponyms of Khazar King Joseph’s ethnic genealogy causes considerable difficulties. In this regard, O.A.Mudrak’s etymologization of these eponyms as well as the suggested principle of the mechanism of ethnic genealogy is of great interest. According to this researcher, all groups of the Khazar Khaganate population are presented in it, and presentation of their eponyms is given from west to east. However, this point of view provokes the following objections. Firstly, the given principle is clearly excessive for the letter of King Joseph, since all the main groups of the population of the Khazar Khaganate are presented in his list of the tributaries. Secondly, if the principle of the mechanism of O.A.Mudrak’s genealogy were observed, the eponym Khazar would not be in the seventh place, but in the first, or at least in the second place, after the descendants of the western Turks (they were probably Burtas). It follows that this genealogy is based on a quite different principle. We have proved a different interpretation of its mechanism: seniority of the eponyms presented in the genealogy is related to the degree of antiquity of the corresponding peoples, and some of these peoples had vanished into history by the 10th century. In the genealogy, these peoples might be, for example, the Huns, Goths or Avars. Of considerable interest is the fact that the eponym Bersil traces its origin to the proto-Nakh *borze-lvej “wolf”. In our opinion, this etymology can be supported by the following argument: one of the names of Khazaria - Arkan - can be etymologized according to the ancient Iranian languages as “wolves” (or “Wolves’ country”, cf. Scythian-Sarmatian varka “wolf”). This fact allows us to consider O.A. Mudrak’s etymology of the ethnonym Bersil as very promising. Abstract:
The article analyzes the genealogy, which is recognized as one of the characteristics of the culture of the people. The study considers the recognition of genealogies as historical data, providing information from the pages of history. After all, when analyzing our past history, it becomes clear the role of genealogical data in historical science, the recognition of written data as one of the national values, the role of national history in the recognition of national history. The so-called main indicators of the cultural heritage of genealogies, unique in the history of the development of mankind, and its national character, genres and important versions are determined. When analyzing genealogical names, the shortcomings of genealogists of recent years, and their causes, are also mentioned. However, it is specified that the greatest example of genealogy is spiritual food, as well as important written data. And the analysis is devoted to periods related to genealogy, including the works of the Middle Ages, data reflected in traditional written sources. In short, it is based on the system of genealogy, which is one of the aspects of the steppe culture. The analysis of the topic includes the relationship of historical, logical and national knowledge, widely used in the humanities and philosophical knowledge, the transition from the historical to the abstract to the real. The need for research in terms of branches like history, language, literature, ethnography, etc. connection with this study of genealogy is based on one of the characteristics of national culture.

Abstract:
Socio-religious scholarly in the community are reflected in either daily practice or literary works inherited. Through Muslim intellectuals, the scientific genealogy of society can be traced, either through their educational background or through their knowledge. The purpose of this article is to monitor the scientific genealogy of society through the knowledge of Muslim intellectuals who are active in various institutions and organizations. The historical research method used through four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Meanwhile, the approach used is intellectual history. This paper pioneered the study of the genealogy of Muslim intellectuals in Bengkulu, which so far received little attention. This is based on the results of studies related to Bengkulu Muslim intellectuals that have not been monitored on this issue. The important finding in this paper is that the scientific nature of each Muslim intellectual is different, but all sanad of the Muslim intellectuals are connected to the Prophet. The following is the scientific genealogy of society that is traced through sanad, they are tarekat (Syatariyah, Naqsyabandiyah, Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah, Syadziliyah), sanad al-Quran, sanad Hadith and sanad kitab.

Abstract:
We present a general approach for evaluating and visualizing evolutionary dynamics of self-replicators using a graph-based representation for genealogy. Through a transformation from the space of species and mutations to the space of nodes and links, evolutionary dynamics are understood as a flow in graph space. A formalism is introduced to quantify such genealogical flows in terms of the complete history of localized evolutionary events recorded at the finest level of detail. Represented in a multidimensional viewing space, collective dynamical properties of an evolving genealogy are characterized in the form of aggregate flows. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach by using it to compare the evolutionary exploration behavior of self-replicating loops under two different environmental settings.

Abstract:
This article explores the topic of documentary reconstruction of patrilineal genealogy of the Khakass public figure Vladislav Mikhailovich Torosov (1937&ndash;2018) based on such genealogical sources as church metric books and census lists of Minusinsk district of Yenisei province for the XIX &ndash; early XX centuries. The object of this research is the genealogy of Torosov family, while the subject is the archival and documentary reconstruction of their genealogy until the XVIII century. The source base consists of the collections of the State Archive of Krasnoyarsk Region, National Archive of the Republic of Khakassia, archive of the city of Minusinsk, as well as personal papers of V. M. Torosov and his descendants. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that this work is first within Khakass genealogy to reconstruct the patrilineal genealogy of the prominent political figure V. M. Torosov, whose father M. G. Torosov was repressed in 1937 and could not pass on the information on his ancestors to descendants. The interrupted bridge between generations severely affected the family in the desire to restore their history. As a result of genealogical reconstruction of the Torosov family belonging to the Khakass seok "piltyr" that was part of the Beltyrsky Ulus of the Sagay Steppe, the author acquires the scientifically verified data on the direct male ancestors of Torosov family until the mid XVIII century. This article argues that the vast literature on “new social movements” misrepresents the historicity of identity-based organization in Latin America. Such organizing is indeed much older than the literature suggests. To prove this argument, I provide a genealogy of black, identitybased organizing in Brazil. This genealogy makes clear that black organizing started when Africans first arrived in Brazil. To explain the ebbs and flows of this organizing, the theoretical frameworks of Sidney Tarrow and Susan Epstein, who focus on political opportunities and changing repertoires, respectively, prove to be more useful.

Abstract:
Abstract Given its apparently scholarly form, the Genealogy of Morals is often read as a succinct, relatively systematic, and canonical exposition of Nietzsche’s mature views on morality. This article argues, however, that the work was intended as a parody of a scholarly treatise and examines how this parody is best understood. It begins by surveying some evidence that supports reading the Genealogy as a ‘textbook’ presentation of Nietzsche’s views. It then develops an exegetic case for reading it as a work of parody, based on the third essay’s claims about the ‘self-cancellation’ of truth-directed discourse and how to oppose the ascetic ideal, along with the Genealogy’s internal organization and its place in Nietzsche’s oeuvre. Finally, it examines whether this parody is best interpreted philosophically as having the force of a strong parody that denies the possibility of truth-directed enquiry or that of a weak parody denying the intrinsic value of such enquiry. Although reading it as a strong parody perhaps makes it more radical and potentially appealing, I argue that the Genealogy is best read as a weak parody, because this is both more tenable and suffices for the claims Nietzsche himself makes about the work’s aims and character.

Abstract:
Objective – In this case study, an archivist and librarian teamed up to teach an introductory course on family history research for adult learners at their university’s lifelong learning centre. In response to students’ relative lack of digital skills, the instructors developed a new set of introductory skills that they believe are essential for genealogy research. Methods – Authors conducted pre- and post-course surveys to determine student expectations and the extent to which the course met those expectations. Authors coded one of these surveys. Results – Course assessment and class activities exposed the need for a set of digital skills that go beyond a literacy framework to assist family history researchers. After analyzing key themes found in pre- and post-course assessment, authors developed a new tool for genealogy instructors titled Introductory Digital Skills and Practices in Genealogy (IDSG). Conclusion – Archivist/librarian collaborations are an excellent way to cultivate needs-based teaching and outreach opportunities in our wider communities, particularly for adult learners. The Introductory Digital Skills and Practices in Genealogy tool is meant to inspire and assist other library professionals who want to teach family history research, serving as a reminder to centre teaching tangible digital skills as a focal point of instruction.

Abstract: There is not much in-depth research on the black world of Madura. The study of the black world of Madura is still limited to West Madura, but ignores the side of East Madura. Unlike the black world in western Madura, actors in the black world of East Madura are often referred to by the terminology “Bajiman” or “Bajing Madura”. During this time, the black world of Madura has always been stigmatized by a dark world. Using an ethnographic postmodern approach shows data findings that the genealogy of the Madurese black world on the East Madura side is related to the people's struggle, traditional Islamic movements, and resistance strategies against the gluttonous regime. Based on the genealogy of the Madura black world on the East Madura side, it is confirmed that Bajing Madura contributed to the formation of Madura's progressive social history. Amateur genealogy is becoming more and more popular in many countries. Thanks to the development of information and communication technologies, national genealogy has also acquired an international dimension, and websites presenting genealogical data contribute to an exchange of experiences between people from different countries. In this article, the authors traced the development of genealogy in four different countries: Italy, Poland, Turkey, as well as in Bosnia and Hercegovina, focusing primarily on sources of information regarding origin, methods of presentation, genealogy organizations, information exchange portals, and support in genealogical searches. As a result of the analysis, it can be concluded that these four countries - despite numerous differences - developed genealogical activities in a similar way.

Abstract:
The foundation of Islamic education as the basis of Islamic education is the Qur'an, Al Hadith of the Prophet Sholallahu alaihi wasalam. Islamic education in the course of its history is rife with various kinds of ideology that have an impact on the quality of the generation produced. Islam as a plenary religion has actually given an ideological message that the nature of man is a servant while carrying out the mandate of managing, elaborating and optimizing all the potentials of nature and humans. Entrepreneurship, education and economics eventually became an integral link to answer the message of the Caliph facing an educational challenge in the era of disruption. Therefore, it becomes important to be studied in depth related to the genealogy of entrepreneurship education. The purpose of doing this genealogy study is to find out the genealogy of entrepreneurship in the Islamic world specifically the results of research based on a literature review found that entrepreneurship activities had been encountered since the time of the prophet Adam Alaihi as Salam The oldest and most survive entrepreneur activity of all time is agroopreneurship.

Abstract:
Lone parent families are often portrayed as welfare-dependent, and social policies and social services can be hostile to and discriminating against lone parents especially in societies dominated by traditional familism, such as Hong Kong. This resentment of lone parent families has not been present throughout Hong Kong's history, but has arisen over the past decade. This paper is based on a study that traced the changing discourses of the lone parent family in Hong Kong. Adopting the Foucauldian concept of genealogy of knowledge and inspired by Nancy Fraser and Linda Gordon's work on "genealogy of dependency", we trace the discourses of the lone parent family from the 1970s to the early 21st century. The term "lone parent" did not exist before the mid-1980s, and when it first appeared it was closely associated with vulnerability and charity. In the early 21st century, the lone parent discourse developed into a problematic discourse, with lone parents associated with welfare dependency, social security fraud, juvenile delinquency, family violence, and perceived as a threat to social stability. This paper notes that the "success" of this discourse may help to rationalize the cutting back of social security benefits for lone mothers and regulate welfare recipients.

Abstract:
This article focuses on Soviet policy toward genealogically defined identity groups in the Central Asian republic of Turkmenistan. For Soviet authorities, kinship loyalties were problematic chiefly because they hindered the emergence of class consciousness among the Turkmen. Soviet officials pursued two essentially contradictory policies in their attempt to eliminate “tribalism” in the Turkmen republic. First, they sought to undermine the economic basis of genealogical affiliation by dismantling the existing system of collective land tenure. Second, they devised a policy of “tribal parity”, which attempted to suppress kin-based conflict by guaranteeing fair and equal treatment for all genealogical groups. Instead of allowing class consciousness to supplant kinship loyalties, however, Soviet rule tended to increase the salience of distinctions based on genealogy. Because of the close linkage between genealogy and socioeconomic standing in Turkmenistan, Soviet attempts to foment class conflict inadvertently exacerbated descent group conflict.

This article provides an overview of the research into 17th–18thcentury glass in Estonia that has been lacking to date. Works onindustrial archaeology, artefact studies and genealogy are discussed, thereby offering a useful reference point for comparative studies onregional dynamics, influences on glass consumption and production, and the origins of foreign products, merchants and glassmakers. Theuse of art as an iconographic source is described in an attempt topresent material that could help to realise art history’s full potentialin studying glass in Estonia during this period. The potential ofinterdisciplinary research that combines all of the sources notedabove is highlighted through a case study on the research prospectsof Pärnu glassworks based on previously unstudied and unpublisheddata. Based on information from archival records, genealogy, cartography and typology, it is determined that a factory did existin Pärnu in the first half of the 17th century that could potentially beeven older than the factory at Hüti. This could significantly changeour understanding of the beginning of glass production in Estonia.

Abstract:
Science denial in the post-truth era is driven by both the rejection of empirical science and the fraudulent use of scientific language. Education policy based on junk science produced by philanthrocapitalists depoliticizes political questions by relocating complex legislative and policy issues from the realm of political and philosophical discourse to that of scientific rationality using metrics and methods that are themselves fatally flawed. Dominant configurations of institutional power also attack scholarship that both debunks spurious causal claims and establishes causal links to existential crises, which in both cases inconveniences the neoliberal capitalist project. We discuss the methodological implications of education research as the counter-conduct of policy advocacy against power claims based on both the rejection of empirical science and the production of junk science. We both discuss and model Foucault’s tactic of genealogy and his analysis of parrhēsia, or truth telling, through creating an imperfect, preliminary genealogy of the “new” post-truth era, which contextualizes contemporary technologies of alternative facts in the history of public relations and propaganda that extend to the early 20thcentury. The methodological and political tactic of genealogy could be a move toward a new ethics of adversarial public scholarship that seeks to reconfigure what counts as scholarship in academia, itself a rationalizing disciplinary institution. Considering the moment, the study of power, the academy’s roles both in subverting and perpetuating it, and the necessity of epistemological and methodological counter-conduct have perhaps never been more important.

Abstract:
Research objectives: To study the handwritten shajara of Mamai “Khan”, the persons mentioned in it, and its chronological attribution. Research materials: A handwritten genealogy of the descendants of Mamai “Khan” deposited in the archive of orientalists of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Academy of Sciences, civil cases of the Buinsky district court of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the archive of the Simbirsk district court, the materials of state audits of the population, official documents of the authorities and administration of the Simbirsk and Saratov provinces, and a legend about the founding of the village of Old Zelenaya, Khvalynsky district, Saratov province. Results and novelty of the research: Based on an analysis of a corpus of published and archival sources, M.A. Usmanov’s version of the “Mishar” origin of Mamai’s genealogy was confirmed. For the first time ever, the chronological framework of this genealogy was determined, and a description of its main representatives was given. The shajara is studied in the context of the history of the Tatar service class, which participated in the protection of the fortified lines and actively populated the “wild steppe” in the Volga and Trans-Kama regions. The article shows the process of transformation of the Tatar military class, during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, from landlords and lashmans to state peasants. It is noted that many descendants of the clan of Mamai “Khan” in this period began to engage in theological and educational activities, being parish imams. The set of documents involved in the study of the genealogy contains valuable information about the migration of the Meshchera Tatars to the southeast of the Russian state in the eighteenth century.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the data connection, spatial distribution characteristics and trends in genealogical information. First, it implements a spatial-temporal visualization of the Hakka genealogical information system that makes these individual family pedigree charts appear as one seamless genealogy to family and researchers seeking connections and family history all over the world. Second, this study applies migration analysis by applying big data technologies to Hakka genealogies to investigate the migration patterns of the Hakka ethnic group in Taiwan between 1954 and 2014. This innovative library service enhances the Hakka genealogical migration analysis using big data. Design/methodology/approach The platform is designed for the exchange of genealogical data to be used in big data analysis. This study integrates big data and geographic information systems (GIS) to map the population distribution themes. The general procedure included collecting genealogical big data, geographic encoding, gathering the map information, GIS layer integration and migration map production. Findings The analytical results demonstrate that big data technology is highly appropriate for family migration history analysis, given the increasing volume, velocity and variety of genealogical data. The spatial-temporal visualization of the genealogical research platform can follow family history and migration paths, and dynamically generate roadmaps to simplify the cartographic steps. Practical implications Technology that combines big data and GIS is suitable for performing migration analysis based on genealogy. A web-based application for spatial-temporal genealogical information also demonstrates the contribution of innovative library services. Social implications Big data play a dominant role in library services, and in turn, provide an active library service. These findings indicate that big data technology can provide a suitable tool for improving library services. Originality/value Online genealogy and family trees are linked with large-volume, growing data sets that are complex and have multiple, autonomous sources. The migration analysis using big data has the potential to help genealogy researchers to construct minority ethnic history.

Abstract:
Abstract This essay explores the question of black liquidity in relation to Zygmunt Bauman's conception of liquid modernity. Along these lines, it charts the historical process by which capitalist modernity cast the Negro as a commodity and how that led to so-called Negro liquidity as the principal collateral in an extensive banking-finance-credit system with international scope. In that system, Negro liquidity was so thorough a monetization that its relation to Negro work was somewhat tangential—in the sense that simple ownership of a Negro indicated creditworthiness, irrespective of what work that Negro did. What's more, from 1850 to 1860, the accumulated wealth generated by that credit finance system, measured in Negro liquidity, was the largest in the nation. Drawing an analogy between that system of credit financing based on Negro liquidity and the current system of art credit financing, in which the artist's blackness is monetized, the essay foregrounds the appositive relation between this capitalist genealogy of liquidity and a concomitant genealogy of black poiēsis entailing a concept of liquidity not completely determined or circumscribed by that genealogy. Construing this poiēsis as polygenous and para-semiotic, the essay argues that it is a performative black critique of capitalism's commodification of life.

The paper is devoted to the state of family and tribal genealogy among the Khori-Buryats. In 2020, the author took field trips to collect genealogical legends of the Buryats who identify themselves with 11 clans: Barun- and Zun-Khuatsai, Galzuud, Saganuud, Batanai, Harganaad, Khalbin, Gushaad, Bodonguud, Sharaid, Khubduud, Khudai. The collected materials served to study to which degree the ancestral (genealogical), family and patronymic traditions are preserved in folklore narratives. The survey was carried out by interviewing the local population (mainly the elderly). An analysis of the results proves that at least for the late 2020, the eastern regions of the Republic of Buryatia and the territory of the Aginsky Buryat District of the Trans-Baikal Territory showcase strong preservation of family and clan genealogy among the Khori-Buryats.

ObjectiveThe inherited component for Alzheimer disease (AD) risk has focused on close relatives; consideration of the full family history may improve accuracy and utility of risk estimates.MethodsA population resource including a genealogy of Utah pioneers from the 1800s linked to Utah death certificates was used to estimate relative risk for AD based on specific family history constellations, including from first- to third-degree relatives.ResultsAny affected first-degree relatives (FDR) significantly increased risk of AD (≥1 FDRs: relative risk [RR] 1.73, 95% confidence interval [CI] [1.59–1.87]; ≥2 FDRs: RR 3.98 [3.26–4.82]; ≥3 FDRs: RR 2.48 [1.07–4.89]; ≥4 FDRs: RR 14.77 [5.42–32.15]). Affected second-degree relatives (SDR) increased risk even in the presence of affected FDRs (FDR = 1 with SDR = 2: RR 21.29 [5.80–54.52]). AD only in third-degree relatives (TDR) also increased risk (FDR = 0, SDR = 0, TDR ≥3: RR 1.43 [1.21–1.68]). Mixed evidence was observed for differences in risk based on maternal compared to paternal inheritance; higher risks for men than women with equivalent family history, and higher risk for individuals with at least one affected FDR regardless of the relative's age at death, were observed.ConclusionsThis population-based estimation of RRs for AD based on family history ascertained from extended genealogy data indicates that inherited genetic factors have a broad influence, extending beyond immediate relatives. Providers should consider the full constellation of family history when counseling patients and families about their risk of AD.

In the pedigree method of conducting an autogamous population of segregating plants, the genealogy of the progenies is registered. Although labor-intensive, these data are rarely used. One possibility of exploiting this information is to improve selection efficiency using BLUP (Best Linear Unbiased Prediction). In this study BLUP with genealogy inclusion was compared to the mean in the progenies evaluation conducted by the pedigree method. Progenies of crosses of the common bean lines BRS MG Talismã and BRS Valente in F4:6 and F4:7 were used. The 256 F4:6 progenies were sown in February 2005, in southeast of Brazil, in a 16 <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> 16 simple lattice design. The grain yield data were subjected to BLUP analysis with inclusion of genealogy. Based on this analysis and the mean, the 30 progenies with best and worst performance were selected. These 60 F4:7 progenies were classified in relation to the origin, i.e., selected by BLUP, mean, or BLUP and mean and coincident results were obtained. In the selection for best performance, the efficiency of BLUP was 2.4% higher than the mean. In the selection for the opposite extreme, BLUP analysis was however not advantageous. The progenies <FONT FACE=Symbol>´</FONT> environments interaction indicates the need for an evaluation of the progenies in different environments before beginning selection.

The current research work encompasses the assessment of similarity based facial features of images with erected method so as to determines the genealogical similarity. It is based on the principle of grouping the closer features, as compared to those which are away from the predefined threshold for a better ascertainment of the extracted features. The system developed is trained using deep learning-oriented architecture incorporating these closer features for a binary classification of the subjects considered into genealogic non-genealogic. The genealogic set of data is further used to calculate the percentage of similarity with erected methods. The present work considered XX datasets from XXXX source for the assessment of facial similarities. The results portrayed an accuracy of 96.3% for genealogic data, the salient among them being those of father-daughter (98.1%), father-son(98.3%), mother-daughter(96.6%), mother-son(96.1%) genealogy in case of the datasets from “kinface W-I”. Extending this work onto “kinface W-II” set of data, the results were promising with father-daughter(98.5%), father-son(96.7%), mother-daughter(93.4%) and mother-son(98.9%) genealogy. Such an approach could be further extended to larger database so as to assess the genealogical similarity with the aid of machine-learning algorithms.

Abstract:
Abstract In this paper, I take issue with the idea that Michel Foucault might be considered a theorist of epistemic injustice, and argue that his philosophical premises are incompatible with Miranda Fricker’s. Their main disagreement rests upon their divergent ways of conceiving the relationship between reason and power, giving rise to the contrasting forms of normativity that characterize their critical projects. This disagreement can be helpfully clarified by addressing the different use they make of the genealogical method. While Fricker’s genealogy of Testimonial Justice aims to ground her claim that reason and power can be neatly pulled apart, thus avoiding the reductionist and relativist conclusions entailed (in her view) by Foucault’s genealogies, I argue that Foucault’s mature, overlooked definition of genealogy is based on a sophisticated distinction between games and regimes of truth, and is thus not vulnerable to these criticisms. Consequently, Foucault’s genealogical inquiries prove helpful for understanding issues that normally fall under the umbrella of epistemic injustice in a new light, while also allowing us to avoid some of the main objections that threaten Fricker’s project.

Abstract:
The article presents the features of the structure of heredity factors and their influence on the clinical and psychopathological image of recurrent depression. The study involved 87 patients with recurrent depression. Based on the results of socio-demographic, clinical-genealogical, clinical-psychopathological, psychometric studies, a high level of family related depression factors were established at all stages and levels of relationship in the genealogy of patients with recurrent depressive disorders. It is shown that in the proband genealogy, there is a high percentage of observed patients mainly of the 1st degree of relationship, by a psychiatrist. Among the inherited burden of somatic pathology in the genealogy of patients with recurrent depressive disorders, hypertension, heart disease and endocrine pathology prevail. When analyzing the information obtained, it was determined that the proportion of factors such as observation by a psychiatrist for the 1st and 2nd degrees of relationship, depressive disorders mainly for 2nd degree of relationship, suicidal behavior for the 1st and 2nd degrees of relationship and the predominance of recurrent disorder in the clinical picture of hypochondriacal and apathetic syndromes, affects the course and clinical picture of recurrent depression. The information received should be considered as diagnostic and preventive measures in the provision of care for this category of patients. Abstract:
AbstractIn 2016, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), which produces Pakistan’s biometric-based national identity card, publicly announced that it would be “re-verifying” identity cards for a national security drive. NADRA relies on the documentation of descent-based relations, including genealogical charts (shajarah-yi-nasab), for its verification procedures. In so doing, NADRA asks the difficult question of who belongs where and who is a citizen, based on who they used to be. This article historically traces the movement of genealogies between the realm of the familial and the bureaucratic. I examine how the colonial state deployed genealogical expertise and how this formation folds into the postcolonial present in ways that shape capacities for genealogy-based claims to identity. It demonstrates how what I term “genealogical computation” extends beyond the domain of governance into articulations of identity that seek to establish status, reliability, and trustworthiness. I argue that “reliable persons” are produced in contemporary Pakistan through an encounter between the genealogical computations of citizens and the expectations of an ethno-securitized state. This encounter is borne out of a rehearsed relation where one’s genealogy, which has held a particular meaning in relation to one kind of security state (the colonial), is now asked to take on another.
