Abstract:
The present study tested a hypothesized model of the degree of belief in penal substitutionary atonement (PSA) predicting a negative association with a sense of responsibility for reducing pain and suffering in the world. Gender complementarian beliefs were hypothesized as a mediator of this association based on theological frameworks within the “New Calvinism” movement connecting PSA, gender views, and the positive spiritual significance of pain and suffering. The sample (N = 225) was comprised of masterslevel students at an Evangelical seminary in the Midwestern United States. Results suppor

This article discusses the ϐirst stages of the study of one of the most unique manuscripts in the collection of Elkan Nathan Adler (1861–1946), currently kept at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York. This manuscript (press mark MS 1398) is of great value. In addition to the fairly complete text of Nizami Ganjavi’s poem “Khosrow and Shirin” (142 sheets), it contains 12 miniatures of high quality. The importance of studying this manuscript is due to the very limited number of illustrated manuscripts in the Judeo-Persian language, making this codex a valuable source for the hist

Abstract:
One should not overlook the fact that Asia is a home to humanism, atheism, and secularism. In the 18th-20th century, atheism, communism and other forms of western liberalism and humanistic ideology had taken their roots in several Asian societies. In recent history, various forms of secular worldview, humanistic, atheistic, communistic, agnostic, etc. have also found their niche in the Philippines. Hence, we set out this study to probe the extent of secularization in the Philippines today and from there, to draw some challenges it poses to the future of Asian theology and Christianity.

Abstract What, then, is definitely known about the religion of the founding fathers of the American republic? Tirree months after the death of James Monroe, Bird Wilson, a professor at the General Theological Seminary in New York City-the oldest theological seminary in the Episcopal Church-preached a sermon purporting to answer that question. His credentials for providing the answer were excellent. Wilson’s father, James, was himself a founding father.
