Full textCantabria is one of the Spanish regions worst touched by wildfires and, at the regional level, these events cause the greatest concern to forest Administration. However, despite the efforts undertaken, the statistics show that the situation, far from improving, is increasingly worrying. In order to assess the successes and deficiencies of the management of fire in Cantabria, this thesis explores the knowledge of regional fires combining different approaches - evidence of fire in the region throughout history; evolution of fire management in Spain, and in Cantabria, since the implementation of Forest Fire Statistics until today and assessment of its effects; regional data analysis and definition of the characteristics and peculiarities of fires in Cantabria from both spatial and temporal points of view and, finally, identification of possible fire variants depending on the type of vegetation cover burned by them and on their size-.

Full textThe research problem arises within the framework of a series of curricular changes that have taken place in Chile in recent years, from which citizen education has been installed as a central axis within the subject of History, Geography and Social Sciences; subsequently the Citizen Training Plan has been established for the schools subsidized by the state and, the subject of Citizen Training has recently been created. The abovementioned imposes a challenge to the teaching staff when having to assume the task of teaching citizenship, so it is relevant to ask: What is the thinking and practices of the history, geography and social sciences teaching about citizenship formation in Chile? The general objective of the study is: To interpret the thinking and practices of the teaching staff of history, geography and social sciences on civic education in Chile. The research methodology is mixed, with a qualitative weight, because quantitative and qualitative methodologies are estimated as complementary to obtain a more comprehensive vision of the phenomenon. From this approach, a phenomenological design has been chosen because it places emphasis on the perceptions and actions of social participants. The qualitative sample is an intentional or proactive type and it consists of teachers of History, Geography and Social Sciences, who take classes in secondary education, in the III, IV, V and Metropolitan regions of Chile. The research techniques performed are: the application of a questionnaire to 82 teachers, the realization of 20 semi-structured interviews and the observation of a sequence of 3 classes for each chosen teacher. The results show that the teachers mainly have a socially participative citizenship approach, characterized by a conception of the citizen as a social subject that makes the other visible and commits to solving the social problems of their environment, through the decision making process and the participation in social organizations. The teaching strategies implemented by teachers to teach citizenship are characterized by being heterogeneous and traditional. In the majority of the observed cases a preponderance of expository classes is observed, in which the teacher explains the contents with the use of a power point.

Full textIn Chile there are two types of textbooks. On the one hand the private market, which are textbooks mainly acquired by students from private schools. On the other hand, there are those provided by the State to schools receiving public subvention (public and semi private). This thesis focuses on those public textbook’s activities on History, Geography and Social Sciences in primary education that were in use the on 2014. Its main objective is to analyze the teaching of History promoted beyond the text. Most of the literature about these materials in Latin America and Spain, center their attention on their narratives, mainly concepts such as nation, identity and the presence of subaltern groups. Very few of them have focused on the teaching and, more specifically what and how to teach them. To analyze all the activities it was used a quantitative methodology. A data dump matrix was created. It was structured into eight dimensions and forty variables on educational, pedagogical and historiographical criteria to dump off the information on every activity. The analysis was mainly descriptive, but also inferential. Whereas, the studied books are promoted by the State and the minimum requirement is to build them in alignment to the curriculum. Due to in Chile there is a current process of curricular reform and, at the time of the writing of this thesis, it wasn’t found studies addressing it, was necessary to start analyzing the curriculum. In this specific case it was decided to use qualitative strategies in the broadest sense of the term, prioritizing, as in the case of activities, educational matters and historical science. The main results of this research show that in both, the curriculum and the activities, there are two types of history and teaching. Regarding historiography, we found two perspectives, the one called Traditional History and other, the New History. In the case of the didactics, this division is also clear within a traditional teaching based on repetition and, the other according to contemporary perspectives promoted for Teaching History. This dichotomy is related to each other. The traditional history is associated with traditional didactics focused on memorizing events, and the New History with contemporary education proposals, which promote an active place of the student. Also, the presence of both forms of History and historiography, have a direct link with the contents. Meanwhile traditional history and teaching issues are associated with patriotic History, New History and contemporary teaching perspectives, is linked to topics beyond the relationship of political events. These results contribute to understanding teaching in textbooks, as well as to the field of study of textbooks and its elaboration.

Full textLa presente tesis, denominada “Prospección de Identidades de Género desde el Marco Curricular y textos escolares de Historia, Geografía y Ciencias Sociales” fue realizada por Katherina Araya Hurtado, bajo la guía académica de Ximena Azúa Ríos, para la obtención del grado de Magíster en Estudios de Género y Cultura, Mención Ciencias Sociales. Desde las aproximaciones identitarias que asigna la historia nacional, a las construcciones simbólicas de hombres y mujeres desde el mestizaje, el sentido del estudio, dará a conocer, la presencia de sexismos, prejuicios y estereotipos de géneros, aún presentes en el lenguaje, imágenes y fuentes documentales de textos escolares de uso en aula, los que en conjunto con el Marco curricular de Historia, Geografía y Ciencias Sociales, influirán directamente sobre el condicionamiento de identidades de género mediante la enseñanza de la historia nacional como referente cultural significativo, cercano y simbólico de identidad. Al respecto, se intentará develar dificultades y tensiones estructurales, presentes tanto en la política pública, en el currículum disciplinario, como en la elaboración de textos escolares, desde la opinión de curriculistas y autores de textos, quienes dejarán entrever algunas razones por las que el conocimiento disciplinario, no se transmite en la cultura escolar
