Abstract:
The birational variant of Grothendieck's section conjecture proposes a characterisation of the rational points of a curve over a finitely generated field over Q in terms of the sections of the absolute Galois group of its function field. While the p-adic version of the birational section conjecture has been proven by Jochen Koenigsmann, and improved upon by Florian Pop, the conjecture in its original form remains very much open. One hopes to deduce the birational section conjecture over number fields from the p-adic version by invoking a local-global principle, but if this is achieved the prob

Generalized geometry of type Bn is the study of geometric structures in T+T*+1, the sum of the tangent and cotangent bundles of a manifold and a trivial rank 1 bundle. The symmetries of this theory include, apart from B-fields, the novel A-fields. The relation between Bn-geometry and usual generalized geometry is stated via generalized reduction. We show that it is possible to twist T+T*+1 by choosing a closed 2-form F and a 3-form H such that dH+F2=0. This motivates the definition of an odd exact Courant algebroid. These problems are usually called Waring-type problems and their story go back to the mid-19th century and, recently, they received the attention of a large community of mathematicians and engineers due to several applications. At the same time, they are related to branches of Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry. The classical Waring problem investigates decompositions of homogeneous polynomials as sums of powers of linear forms. Via Apolarity Theory, the study of these decompositions

Abstract:
Block type quay walls are commonly used as berthing structures both in Turkey and worldwide. In this study, stability analysis of block type quay wall is carried out using pseudo-static method. A computer program named QSAP (using Excel spreadsheet) has been developed for the design of block type quay walls. QSAP has been prepared based on the rules of Turkish Seismic Design Codes for Coastal Structures, 2008. Reliability of this program is verified by a comparative study of Derince Port block type quay wall, damaged in Marmara earthquake (1999), with manual solution and field measurements. A
