Wiendels, Christina. "“Are all diseases dead”: The Likelihood of an Attribution to Ben Jonson." Ben Jonson Journal 27, no. 2 (November 2020): 200–219. http://dx.doi.org/10.3366/bjj.2020.0284.

Abstract:
Arents S288 (Acc. No. 5442), pp. 87–88, and Rosenbach 239/27, p. 327, attribute the poem that begins “Are all diseases dead nor will death say” to Ben Jonson. While A.S.W. Rosenbach (1876–1952) owned both of these manuscripts at one point, it was actually Edwin Wolf 2nd (1911–1991) who penciled in the Jonson attributions in both manuscripts. However, the poem is found in many other manuscripts without this attribution. This paper considers the origin and validity of Wolf's attribution, and then asks, apart from Wolf's attribution, if it is plausible that Jonson wrote the poem. Wolf's consistently correct attributions in Arents S288 and correct attribution in MS 239/27 indicate that he was not as unreliable as the Rosenbach Museum & Library suggests. Ludovick Stuart, the Duke of Lennox and Richmond, who is the subject of the poem, died on 16 February 1624. My research demonstrates that an attribution to Jonson is highly plausible in terms of biographical, manuscript, and stylistic evidence. Jonson knew the poem's subject: he lived with the Duke's brother, Esmé Stuart, Lord d'Aubigny, for many years, and d'Aubigny occupied the role of patron. While the poem is elsewhere attributed to Sir John Eliot (b. 1592) or John Donne, neither is a strong candidate. The Duke fulfills the categories that I establish as Jonson's motivations to write in this poetic form: he was a significant figure and he had a personal connection to Jonson. Moreover, Jonson wrote for d'Aubigny's family on repeated occasions – and at length – over many decades.

Abstract:
Various governments of Ghana have, at least on paper, shown recognition of the need for a national library, which will undertake as one of its principal responsibilities the preparation of the national bibliography. In January 1963, for example, the Ministry of Education set up a Technical Advisory Committee to advise on the need for a national library. The Committee had several sittings and it did succeed in submitting proposals to obtain some financial support if not for the building of a national library then, at least, for developing some of its functions, including the publication of retrospective and current national bibliographies.Earlier in 1961, the George Padmore Research Library on African Affairs (GPRLAA) had been established by Dr Kwame Nkrumah, former President of Ghana, in memory of his friend, the late George Padmore, with the objective of providing a centre for the study of African affairs in Ghana.

Abstract:
For many years, the Rare Books Department (Book Museum) of the Russian State Library has been conducting up-to-date work on the description of ex-libris, which contributes to the disclosure of the Department’s collections. The main goal of this research is to identify, record, study, publish, and thereby show the variety and richness of the ownership marks found on books. This article is devoted to the book marks of the German bibliophile Prince George III of Anhalt (1507—1553) from the collection of the Russian State Library. In the Russian-language research literature, Prince George’s book marks have not been considered before. The highly valued private library, later named after the owner — “Georgs-Bibliothek”, used to be part of the Land Library in Dessau (Germany). A small part of this famous book collection came after World War II to the V.I. Lenin State Library of the USSR and is now stored in the Book Museum. On the example of the small fragment of Prince George’s famous library, the article traces the gradual appearance and development of the unique ex-libris of this collection, reveals the literary and bibliophile interests of the owner, and establishes the circle of his communication. In the course of the study, about a hundred owner’s marks were recorded, thanks to which there were identified more than 120 publications from the personal collection of Prince George of Anhalt. The article presents the main types of its ex-libris (handwritten, gift, and super-ex-libris), which are reproduced and described in detail.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyse George Orwell's diaries through an information literacy lens. Orwell is well known for his dedication to freedom of speech and objective truth, and his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four is often used as a lens through which to view the fake news phenomenon. This paper will examine Orwell's diaries in relation to UNESCO's Five Laws of Media and Information Literacy to examine how information literacy concepts can be traced in historical documents.Design/methodology/approachThis paper will use a content analysis method to explore Orwell's relationship to information literacy. Two of Orwell's political diaries from the period 1940–42 were coded for key themes related to the ways in which Orwell discusses and evaluates information and news. These themes were then compared to UNESCO Five Laws of Media and Information Literacy. Textual analysis software NVivo 12 was used to perform keyword searches and word frequency queries in the digitised diaries.FindingsThe findings show that while Orwell's diaries and the Five Laws did not share terminology, they did share ideas on bias and access to information. They also extend the history of information literacy research and practice by illustrating how concerns about the need to evaluate information sources are represented within historical literature.Originality/valueThis paper combines historical research with textual analysis to bring a unique historical perspective to information literacy, demonstrating that “fake news” is not a recent phenomenon, and that the tools to fight it may also lie in historical research.

Abstract:
The company's success in achieving the goals that have been set is due to having good managerial skills in planning, organizing, mobilizing, and controlling. Many companies are then looking for a system model that can lead to the achievement of goals. If the model or system is considered capable of leading to the achievement of organizational goals then the system is considered an Expert System. One of them is the Halal Assurance System (HAS 23000), which is a management system used as a model by companies in implementing halal production processes. The HAS23000 concept certainly has a management construction that includes functions in management. This research is library research using a qualitative descriptive analysis approach. The results of the study show that the 11 criteria in HAS23000 are divided into management functions in the perspective of George Robert Terry, namely criteria 1 is a planning function, criteria 2 is an organizing function, criteria 3 is a function of movement, criteria 4, 5, and 6 covers all management functions. That is planning, organizing, mobilizing, and controlling, and finally, the criteria 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 are the function of control or supervision. With the theoretical approach of George Robert Terry's management function in analyzing the management functions contained in HAS 23000, this is the novelty of previous researchers.

Abstract:
The Natural History Society of New Brunswick (1862-1932) based in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, produced an impressive body of research, including significant geological discoveries. Research and public education output of the Society was prolific. George Matthew, the Society's leading geologist published more than 200 scientific papers. Between 1862 and 1917 the Bulletin of the Natural History Society of New Brunswick records more than 800 lectures read before the Society and public audiences. Lectures were often at the leading edge of scientific discovery, such as Matthew's 1890 report of the first authentic Precambrian fossil. This amateur society supported the research of its members by developing a significant library. The only other library in the city with scientific resources belonged to the local Mechanics' Institute, later acquired in part by the Natural History Society. It is clear from library reports and minutes that, from the beginning, the intent was to provide members access to a science library necessary to support their research activities. Both libraries were particularly important as the Great Fire of 1877 destroyed personal libraries while the Society and Institute libraries were untouched. The library was particularly strong in North American and British journals and classic works in early geology. Some of the research shortcomings of Society members may have been a result of the library's weakness in European technical literature. The library and collections of the Natural History Society of New Brunswick formed the basis for the present New Brunswick Museum.

Abstract:
Feminist literary criticism has been focused on the marginalization of women in literary texts and the efforts to deconstruct patriarchy through counter texts, such as Mary Norton’s The Borrowers. This paper aims to review previous studies and expert opinions on Norton’s The Borrowers, especially the arguments in the form of feminist literary criticism. This study employed George’s (2008) model of literature review to review articles employing feminist literary criticism in "The Borrowers." The articles were gathered from books, academic journals, and previous studies on Norton’s The Borrowers. The review reveals that the novel depicted a feminine and masculine environment, constructing biased gender roles and labor division that triggered efforts to gain emancipation and independence in the female character. Telling about miniature family who survived by “borrowing” items from a human, The Borrower is centered towards the young female who deconstructed the traditional binary oppositions concerning the work division and spatial division between males and females. Besides, The Borrowers also presented women’s marginalization, women’s struggles, and gender identity. Such revelation might be useful to extend the fight for gender equity, especially for the children as the target readers.

Abstract:
This collection brings together research from the library and student affairs fields to present a thorough look at methods for increasing student success among populations with distinct needs and characteristics: international, transfer, first-generation, and re-entry students, with international and first-generation populations receiving the most attention. It is a welcome addition to the academic library literature. The theories of well-established student affairs scholars, such as George Kuh and Vincent Tinto, are highlighted in many chapters’ literature reviews and appear in the bibliographies of nearly all chapters. Familiarity with this literature is key in engaging outside units within the academy and building the kinds of partnerships suggested by many authors in this work. Common themes include robust partnerships with academic writing centers, collaborating with graduate programs to increase ESL students’ research and writing skills, and deliberately structuring assignments to aid student comprehension and skill development.

Abstract:
The study aims to examine the representation of the US Police Department in a foreign media news article, The New York Times, entitled “George Floyd’s Brother Pleads with Congress: ‘Make it Stop’”. The text itself discusses an incident of brutality and systemic racism involving the US Minneapolis police officers towards George Floyd, an African-American, which leads to his death. This incident can be considered to be one of the biggest news that attracts the most attention, reaction, and action all over the world in 2020. This research uses Critical Discourse Analysis proposed by Teun A. van Dijk, focusing only on the micro-level analysis: macrostructure, microstructure, superstructure. There are four linguistics tools applied in the microstructure, which are rhetorical question, lexicalization, metaphor, and implication. The qualitative descriptive method is the research method used. Since the data are collected by searching for information in the Internet and other printed references, this research is also categorized into a library research for the fact that it has a wide scope of sources, including the academic journal, newspapers, magazine, e-books, relevant web resources, and various multimedia. The result shows that through these three aspects of the microstructure analysis, the author portrays a negative representation of the US Police Department.

He was in charge in turn of the Acquisitions, the English and North European, and the West European Branches of the Department of Printed Books. In 1998 he published his History of the British Museum Library, the fruit of more than ten years’ research after his ‘retirement’ in 1986.1 His final project there, almost complete when he died, was on the Old Royal Library donated to the Museum by George II.2 At his funeral the first reading was read by a former head of the Chinese Department there.

Abstract:
An academic library’s most powerful constituents are faculty and administrators. In an attempt to satisfy the needs of individual departments and faculty members, many libraries employ subject specialists. To the degree that a subject specialist is proactive, or the department is heavily dependent on the library’s services, those needs will be met. However, few libraries have developed systematic programs to reach all faculty members or to begin targeting university administrators as a special user group. The rationale for doing so is twofold: to educate them on the growing role of information technology in research and teaching, and to enhance their support for new electronic resources. At George Washington University, the position of faculty outreach librarian was created to fill such a need. This article discusses how that position evolved, the projects initiated, and the outcomes that have led to revised marketing strategies.

Abstract:
Purpose – This paper summarizes a time-diary study of a Canadian public library that estimated the hours spent by patrons using library facilities and circulated collections during a month. The purpose of this paper is to convert conventional library statistics into a metric more understandable to external stakeholder groups: time. Design/methodology/approach – Paper-based time-diaries collected data on the patron use of circulated library materials throughout the loans cycle and exit surveys measured the duration of branch visits. This data along with gate and circulation statistics were used to estimate hours of patron residency in library branches and the time spent consuming borrowed materials. Findings – Patrons used the services, facilities and collections of Prince George Public Library’s Bob Harkins branch for an estimated 182,000 hours during August 2013. Over 90 per cent of use occurred offsite through the consumption of circulated materials by diarists and secondary use of borrowed items by their families and friends. Practical implications – Conventional statistics understate the utilization of public library resources as most of their use occurs outside the library branches, a different usage pattern than for other municipal services. This study suggests that all library use is potentially measurable using a single metric, hours of patron use. The value of a time metric, once methodologically sound, is its usefulness as a measure of library performance and its convertibility in dollars of direct value using contingent valuation methodology. Originality/value – Time-diary methodology collected patron time-use data on public library circulated materials. The paper demonstrates the potential of patron time-use as a metric of library performance. Hours of patron use appear convertible into dollars of benefit using contingent valuation research.

Abstract:
This article aimed to reveal various forms of arbitrary stereotypes between who is perceived as superior and who is perceived as inferior. By taking data from the play Caesar and Cleopartra (1945) by George B Shaw, the researcher examined various discriminatory and tendentious stereotyping phenomena. Although this drama was raised and raised by the western world by involving the east in it, this is what then triggers a new problem of discriminatory inequality between the west and the east which then forms discriminatory perceptions. By using the postcolonial approach, especially Edward Said's orientalism, the researcher uncovers various myths and phenomena. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a library data collection system and deep critical analysis. The results of this study indicate that the form of incidental and oriental stereotyping is clearly seen through the depiction in the story. The West through the character of Caesar who represents white superiority carries out various orientalist practices on the character of Cleopatra as a representation of the east. All are quoted in their actions, attitudes, character, and disposition

Abstract:
In recent years anthropologists and literary critics, most importantly George Stocking Jr. (1983), James Clifford and George E. Marcus (1986), and Clifford Geertz (1987), have led the way to a closer reading of the writings of early anthropologists and a fuller exploration of the intellectual climates in which they were working. As the founder of African studies in this country, Melville J. Herskovits is of considerable importance in terms of related scholarship in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Although an anthropologist by training, Herskovits had a major impact on the development of African scholarship in many other disciplines—from the history of art to folklore to political and economic history. Herskovits' field research methodologies and orientations thus potentially are of considerable significance. Despite Herskovits' critical role in African studies, there has been relatively little scholarly interest to date in his African research methodologies.Herskovits' unpublished field notes of his Dahomey research provide us with an inside look at the principal field strategies and orientations of this important African scholar. These field materials today are housed in the archives of three different research institutions: The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City; the library of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois; and the Archives of Traditional Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The largest grouping of Herskovits' Dahomey field materials (journals, financial records, artifact collection, photographs, correspondence) are at the Schomburg Center. At Northwestern University are found various diary extracts, song transcriptions, and the bulk of Herskovits' early and later correspondence. Recordings that Herskovits made in the course of the Dahomey research are located at Indiana University.

Pendidikan juga harus selalu mewariskan kebudayaan dalam setiap prosesnya agar peserta didik memiliki keluhuran budi.----------------------------------------------------------------This research aims to contextualize the thoughts of two figures in the 19th century about education and culture, and to find out the relevance of that thought to the competence of students in the 21st century. This research conducted a literature study using the content analysis approach. Data in the form of primary and secondary sources. Data collection is done by library research techniques. Data are analyzed qualitatively with an inductive approach. The research results show that the concepts of thought of the two figures are interrelated especially about the four main points, namely the purpose of education, the function of education, the educational process, and the role of educators. The concept of thought is still relevant if contextualized with the competence of students in the 21st century. The 21st century requires students to have critical thinking skills, problem solving, and collaboration. The purpose of education is seen as a way of expressing the civilization served and cultivating a culture based on civilization. The civilization that will be served by students in the 21st century is a blend of knowledge, thought, innovation skills, media, information and communication technology literacy (ICT), and real life experiences. For this reason, the optimal role of educators is needed in varying the learning process by using various methods so that education can carry out its functions to overcome social crises and cultural backwardness, so as to enhance humanity. Education also must always transmit the culture in every process so that students have nobility.

Abstract:
A metaphor can be identified in two ways, they are; in a wider sense and a specific sense. This article is only focused on figurative speech in specific sense. In its specific sense it always has three elements, namely: topic, image and the point of similarity. Metaphor then can be classified into two, they are: dead and live metaphors. The aims of this research are: (1) to identify the English metaphors in the English novel, (2) to know the classification of the metaphors, and (3) to identify the structures of metaphors. The data of this research are all collected from an English novel entitled Master of the Game written by Sidney Sheldon (1982) so then the method applied here is of course library research. The theory applied here is proposed by George Lakoff (1979). The result of this research shows that (1) there is always an anomaly meaning in the metaphor, (2) there are two types of metaphors, they are: dead and live, and (3) not all elements of the metaphor are always explicitly stated.

The discourse of this study focuses on the language game theory by Ludwig Wittgenstein which is applied in the da’wah language. The purpose of the study is to determine the significance of the language game theory applied to the da’wah language. The research method used is library research, with data analytics in the form of descriptive-interpretative, and is assisted by Hans George Gadamer’s effective hermeneutic theory in studying language game theory and Wittgenstein’s idea. The results of this study are sufficient to answer the significance of the language game theory applied to the da’wah language, with two points. First, language game theory can be applied in da’wah language. Second, the use of language game theory can attract the interest of da’wah listeners. These two points have implications for the actions or behavior of the da’wah listeners, which is called compulsive and impulsive behavior. cThus it can be understood that language and da’wah are an inseparable bond

Abstract:
Summary The present contribution, the first panel of a diptych, discusses a claim put forward by George G.M. James in his book Stolen Legacy (1954). According to James, the Macedonian king Alexander III in association with the philosopher Aristotle plundered the Royal Library at Alexandria – a crucial episode in what Afrocentric thinkers consider the theft of African philosophy by the Greeks. The article presents and analyses the evidence for the founding of Alexandria, for Aristotle’s whereabouts during Alexander’s conquest of the Persian Empire, and for the establishment of the Alexandrian library. James’ contention turns out to be unsupported by any evidence. In addition, it is at odds with the results of historical research into events of the late fourth and early third century BCE relevant to the matter at hand. The alleged theft must have taken place in a city not yet founded, by a philosopher with an alibi, and in an institution that would not be established until at least a quarter of a century after the death of the Macedonian conqueror. Afrocentric responses to such criticisms will be discussed in a sequel to this contribution, published elsewhere in this issue of Lampas.

AbstractThis study analyzed a novel written by Hebert George Wells, The Time Machine. The author talked about the different classes based on society’s economic status, namely upper class and lower class that might cause the class struggle. There were three objectives that were formulated by the writer, 1) to discuss the characterization of the Eloi and Morlock, 2) to present the conflict between Eloi and Morlock, 3) to discuss the class struggle between the upper and lower class in accomplishing their desire as represented by character Eloi and Morlock. In analyzing this novel the writer used the socio-cultural-historical and biographical approach and also the library research to analyze this novel. There were two main character in the novel that represented the upper and lower classes in nineteenth century. They had conflict since hundreds years ago that was the lower class were oppressed by the upper class. It made them bare and did the struggle. This struggle came from the economical, ideological and political background. Since the economical struggle that was increasing the wage and shorting the work hours was not approved, they made the ideological struggle. This struggle found the perfect way to control the upper class. After that, they did the political struggle that served the upper as the cattle and prey them. They also changed the rule which was oppressed to oppress. It recommended for the next researcher to use the same approach and for the teacher to use this novel as learning material.

Abstract:
This study assessed information needs of final year diploma students and the aspects explored were the adequacy, relevance, access and challenges faced in the use of the information resources. The study was limited to Kitale polytechnic library and the focus was the information that students seek to satisfy their information needs. The theory adopted for this study was the Principle of Least Effort that was developed by George Kengsley and explored in a study of library use of graduate students by Zao Lang. The independent variable was information needs and library user satisfaction was the dependent variable. Access and use of information resources, information literacy level and staff skills and competencies were the intervening variables. A descriptive research design was adopted to describe the level of students’ information needs and use of the library. Qualitative method was used to collect textual data and quantitative method was used to collect numerical data. The target population of 426 library staff members and final year diploma students based on the polytechnic management records was purposively sampled for study. A sample size of 68 participants was selected for study. The main data collection tools were a structured questionnaire and an interview schedule which targeted students and key informants (library staff) respectively. A pilot study was conducted at Eldoret National Polytechnic. This involved four library staff members and four diploma students who were in their final year of study. Validity was sought by use of expert knowledge in the field of information science to ascertain accuracy of the research instruments and the split half method was used to achieve reliability of the instruments and information collected. The researcher used interview to collect data from the library staff and questionnaires were employed to collect data from the sampled students. Qualitative data was analyzed thematically while quantitative data was analyzed to generate percentages, frequency distribution tables and charts. The results established that majority of students need information for academic purposes while others use it for other information related requirements. The study also revealed that the library collection does not adequately cater for the information needs of students and it was further established that most of the library information resources are rarely relevant to students’ information needs. The study concludes that most polytechnics are not keen on issues related to limited resources, staffing and the quality of information resources and services which negatively affect students in the library. The study recommended that polytechnic policy developers should formulate library policies that are not only academically inclined but also aimed at promoting other information related purposes. The study also recommended that the Institutional management should increase library allocation of resources to ensure improved equipping of a balanced library collection that addresses the diverse information needs of students. The study further recommended that polytechnic library management should enhance its acquisition policy to help acquire information resources from publishers that are more relevant to students’ education and courses of study. The study should be useful to TVET department of the Ministry of Education in their quality assurance programs to formulate policies for polytechnics that maintain high standards of libraries and quality information services for students. The study further recommended that another study should be undertaken to explore more on the use of Wi-Fi in the provision of information services for polytechnic students; an area that deems necessary based on the studies that have been highlighted in this research.

Abstract:
This research examines narrative theology, which began to develop in the 1970s in the United States, and is now widely practiced in theological discourses, including in Indonesia. This theology, sometimes called postliberal theology, uses the postmodern interpretation paradigm, which seeks the meaning “in front of” the text (readers-oriented). The intended readers are the community, who have the same language, culture, and traditions. It turns out that narrative theology, which initially served as a theological reflection on Christianity’s claims to the biblical texts, has shifted into a hermeneutical lens in reading the biblical texts. Using analytical studies of library research and systematic review, the author discusses the contours of narrative theology starting from the thoughts of its pioneers (such as Hans W. Frei, George A. Lindbeck, Stanley Hauerwas, and Sally McFague), describing its characteristics, and evaluating them. The analysis results are presented in two points. The first is an appreciation of the contributions of narrative theology, i.e., simple-practical, confessional-dogmatic, relational, and inductive. The second is an evaluation of some reductive aspects of narrative theology, i.e., postmodern hermeneutics; a disregard of historicity and genre diversity; traditional-dogmatic fideism; sectarianism; and pragmatism.

Abstract:
The aim of the article is to analyse figurative language in use. According to the core writings in cognitive linguistics, figurative language is representative of figurative thought. Human beings express themselves figuratively because their thinking is primarily figurative. Similar ideas have been advanced since the writings of Max Black, Charles K. Ogden, I. A. Richards, and Paul Ricoeur; however, these ideas gained a wider recognition at the end of the 1980s, when George Lakoff and Mark Johnson published their seminal work “Metaphors We Live By”, thus propelling the development of cognitive linguistics and cognitive stylistics. The properties of figurative thought are excellently demonstrated via those examples where interaction of the verbal and visual discourse occurs. The poster collection of the National Library of Latvia is well-suited for this purpose. The posters created during the Soviet occupation (1940–1991) abound in propaganda; nevertheless, they present a remarkable source for research. Seven posters from 1940 to 1964 are analysed in this article. The eventual results demonstrate the pervasive use of metonymies and their interaction with other figurative patterns to shape multimodal discourse.

SummaryAn overview of personal experiences in medical informatics based on Dr. Morris Collen’s 50 years of research in the field.A personal reminiscence and historical overview, focusing on the first two decades of medical informatics, when Dr. Collen began working with Dr. Sidney Garfield, the founder of Kaiser Permanente, leading to his involvement in computer-based medical care, through the development of the pioneering Automated Multiphasic Health Testing (AMHT) system, which they introduced into Kaiser clinics in Oakland and San Francisco.Statistical models for medical decision-making based on consultations with Jerzy Neyman and George Dantzig were incorporated into the AMHT, and tested on a large database of cases. Meetings with other pioneers in medical informatics at the Karolinska Institute led to the formation of the early society Salutas Unitas, and the many national and international collaborations which followed during the first two decades helped coalesce the field as clinicians and researchers investigated problems of medical data, decision support, and laboratory, hospital, and library information systems.Dr. Collen’s research and his many medical informatics activities significantly contributed to the growth of the field. Abstract:
The aim of the article is to present the results of research conducted as part of the project Polonica Philosophica Orientalia: namely, to give an overview of the most important logical and metaphysical treatises (both manuscripts and printed editions) written in Vilnius between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries that are currently accessible in some of the Vilnius libraries. Although the research focused primarily on the Vilnius University Library and its resources, some interesting results were also obtained while researching the Wróblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences. Most sources containing information about the state and the nature of metaphysical and logical investigations conducted in Vilnius during the period discussed are the manuscripts of lecture courses delivered for the students of Vilnius University and other schools. The analysis of those manuscripts has revealed a strong and long-lasting influence of scholastic Aristotelianism in both logic and metaphysics. Namely, up to the mid-eighteenth century, the main questions discussed in logic were Aristotelian syllogism, the square of opposition and the medieval topics of semantical antinomies, modalities and supposition theory, while investigations into metaphysical issues were limited to commentaries on Aristotle’s theoretical treatises without seriously questioning their main theses. In the second part of the eighteenth century, a moderate shift towards subjectivism and psychologism was observed in both of these disciplines. This was influenced by modern epistemologists (George Berkeley, John Locke and others). Logicians and metaphysicians of Vilnius University developed an interest in the topics of human understanding and cognition. However, this shift did not take a radical form – while the majority of eighteenth-century authors sought a combination of scholastic and modern ideas, a critical and even hostile stance towards modern philosophy and science is still noticeable in many of the analysed sources. An overview of the research supported by statistical data is followed by some preliminary remarks on how and where investigation of this topic might be continued in the future.

Abstract:
Social media has become an integral part of life, including in the field of education. This study aimed to explore social media as a teaching and learning tool, its use, and its benefit for students of English as Foreign Language. This study applied library research from George (2008), where the sources of the data were previous studies on the use of social media in the context of English as Foreign Language, published in reputable international journals or accredited national journal ranked SINTA 1, SINTA 2, and SINTA 3, between 2015 to 2020. The review revealed that YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have been frequently applied as English learning media through various activities that matched the features provided by the respective social media. Their implementations in English learning have been argued to positively impact the students’ language skills, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, spelling, motivation, as well as their creative and critical thinking. These results reflect a positive attitude toward social media as an inseparable part of the students’ 21st – century learning contexts. However, more studies need to be conducted to optimize the use of social media for improving students’ English and their 21st-century skills.

Printed Blank Forms are poorly studied historical sources. They were published in almost every printing house, often in large editions; however, due to the specifics of the purpose, they were poorly preserved. Many of the printed editions have not reached our days. You can learn about their existence from archival documents. A number of editions are known in a single copy. The Research Department of Rare Books (Book Museum) of the Russian State Library has two Printed Blank Forms. These are the Certificates of Ordination from the Bishop of Pinsk and Turov, George Bulgak. These are the only known copies of the editions. They were issued to priest Vasily Shemetil on July 15, 1759 in Pinsk and stamped with the Episcopal seal. They came from the Vilnius Public Library. Due to the small number of complex studies of such sources, the article provides the detailed description of them, reveals the content at the level of the edition (printed blank form) and the copy (handwritten text); for the first time there is undertaken publication of the texts of the certificates. Moreover, the authors consider the actual problems of the bibliographic description of these publications: different bibliographers (F.N. Dobryansky, A.I. Milovidov, G.Y. Golenchenko, Y.A. Labyntsev) described and attributed these editions differently (Mogilev and Suprasl were mentioned as the place of publication). Being unique sources, they attracted attention of bibliographers, but were not used at all by historians and other researchers of book culture. The authors come to the conclusion that the attribution of the publication of letters in the printing house of the Annunciation Monastery in Suprasl, proposed by Y.A. Labyntsev, looks the most convincing today. The study emphasizes the importance of the considered documents that are the only known examples of printed Greek Catholic Certificates of Ordination of the 18th century. Since the life and activity of Georgy Bulgak himself, who became the Archimandrite of the Annunciation Monastery in Suprasl, remains practically unexplored in Russian historiography, the article presents his biography, focuses on this period of his activity and his great contribution to the development of book publishing in the monastery printing house, which printed books in Slavic, Polish and Latin languages.

Abstract:
The discourse of this study is in the form of Karen Armstrong's thoughts about the existence of God, the Prophet Muhammad and the Qur'an, which began with her search for God by becoming a nun. In examining Armstrong's thinking, the writer uses a type of research library approach with descriptive-analysis method which is assisted by Hans George Gadamer's hermeneutic theory. The results of this study are in the form of an understanding that in Karen Armastrong's view of God, the Prophet Muhammad, and the Qur’an, in the process of searching for god, a sense of curiosity about Islam grows and gives rise to Armstrong's admiration for the Prophet Muhammad, whose ideas are seen in a early prophetic history while receiving revelations in the cave of Hira. God here is Allah in Islam, and the existence o the Prophet Muhammad as a representation of Islam, and the Qur’an as the holy book of Muslim that gives the mission of God.Armastrong's perspective expressed in his writings has implications for the religion of Islam, in the form of a contribution to the treasures of early understanding of God, Islam, and the Qur’an, to the development of the perspective of contemporary Muslim scholars.

Abstract:
A Review of: Murray, A. & Ireland, A. (2018). Provosts’ perceptions of academic library value and preferences for communication: A national study. College & Research Libraries, 79(3), 336-365. https://doi.org/10.5860/crl.79.3.336 Abstract Objective – To understand how public and private university provosts understand and interpret the value of academic libraries. Design – Electronic survey. Setting – Public and private colleges and universities in the United States with Carnegie classifications of master’s (small), master’s (medium), master’s (large), doctoral/research (DRU), research (RU/H), and research very high (RU/VH). Subjects – 209 provosts and chief academic officers. Methods – The authors distributed the survey to a pool of 935 provosts and chief academic officers in academic institutions. Questions were organized toward understanding participants’ perceptions of their libraries’ involvement with issues of institutional importance inspired by the Association of College & Research Libraries’ Value of Academic Libraries: A Comprehensive Research Review and Report, and high impact educational practices (HIPs) based on the work of George Kuh (2008). The survey also asked participants to select their data preferences when making library funding allocation decisions and their library communication preferences when making funding decisions. The authors received 209 responses and analyzed the content using Qualtrics to determine the highest and lowest ranked responses to each question. In addition, responses for specific survey questions were cross tabulated with demographic information about the institution to identify any potential trends that conformed to or deviated from the overall set of responses. Chi squares were then calculated to determine potential significance. Main Results – In terms of involvement with university initiatives, almost all of the 209 provosts and chief academic officers who responded to the survey had the perception that their respective libraries are either very involved or somewhat involved. The highest areas of involvement included: faculty research productivity (85.02%), accreditation (82.15%), student academic success (75%). and undergraduate retention (67.26%). Of note, only 9% of provosts indicated their libraries were very involved with enrollment. The authors found a trend that suggests that higher-enrollment institutions with a Carnegie ranking of doctoral/research, research, or research very high, increased provosts’ perceptions of their institutions’ libraries involvement in retention initiatives, student academic success, and faculty research productivity. A significant point of note: when asked why provosts did not view their institutions’ academic libraries as being involved in undergraduate retention initiatives, a significant number (76.12%) of respondents indicated that it was because the campuses overall did not recognize the role the libraries could play in retention initiatives. This position co-exists in an environment where the demographic, economic, and cultural transitions taking place in the United States are continuing to have a disruptive impact on higher education. Library directors need to make these connections much more tangible. Utilizing Kuh’s (2008) 10 high-impact educational practices, the authors gauged the participants’ perception of their libraries’ involvement in educationally purposeful activities. They found that 84.43% of provosts perceived their libraries as highly involved with undergraduate research, 78.39% with first-year seminars/experiences, 77.38% with collaborative assignments and projects, 75.76% with writing-intensive courses, 71.34% with common intellectual experiences, and 69.64% with capstone courses/projects. Fewer provosts indicated that their libraries were involved in diversity and global learning, learning communities, service learning/community-based learning, or internships. A significant point of note: when asked if their institution’s library had an impact on students’ decisions to continue enrollment, opinion was divided. Of the total respondents, a combined total of 91 indicated yes, based on demonstrated evidence or anecdotal or suspected evidence, while 81 respondents indicated unclear or no. This suggests further work is required for libraries in terms of investigating the potential role they might play in enrollment and how to demonstrate such. The authors also asked participants to indicate their opinion on the level of influence 11 different data types would have on a moderate (non-capital) funding request for the library. In terms of highest influence, 72.02% indicated they would like to see correlations linking the use of library services/resources with student success, 66.07% with undergraduate retention, and 56.55% with enrollment. Of moderate influence, 57.14% indicated they would like to see library usage data, 55.36% user satisfaction data, and 50% focus groups or other qualitative data. A total of 60% of the provosts also indicated that anecdotal evidence had a low influence on their funding allocations. Most provosts preferred the information to be communicated in a formal annual report, and indicated that the report should include information literacy student learning outcomes (SLOs) (50.9%), user satisfaction data (46.11%), correlations with faculty productivity (45.45%), correlations with student success (44.91%), correlations with undergraduate retention (43.11%), correlations with enrollment (42.51%), basic use data (40.12%), and faculty feedback (39.1%). Conclusion – Most provosts have an understanding that their libraries play an important role on campus, but demonstrating a strong connection to university goals and outcomes is essential. When seeking funding, academic library administrators should focus on projects or initiatives that support the priorities of the institution as a whole, and work to communicate evidence of the value of library services and resources within this context. This is achieved through communication channels that are both timely and relevant, and include a formal annual report or a dedicated budget meeting.

Abstract:
Abstract Understanding the tumor microenvironment (TME) requires more than just a catalog of cell types and gene programs. It is critical to see the spatial organization of the cells are and where they form multicellular interaction networks. Here we present a single-cell spatially resolved transcriptomic analysis of human mismatch repair deficient (MMRd) and proficient (MMRp) colorectal cancer (CRC) specimens. High tumor mutational burden MMRd tumors are known to have an immune response characterized by higher cytolytic T cell infiltrates compared to MMRp tumors, making them an ideal system for spatial single-cell profiling and understanding how the immune-driven programs differ between these tumors. MERFISH is a massively multiplexed single molecule imaging technology which can simultaneously capture and measure the quantity and distribution of hundreds to thousands of RNA species within single cells across a tissue1. We designed a MERFISH library of over 450 genes including genes important to proliferation, apoptosis, immune signaling, immune cell type pathways and other critical pathways in CRC. Patient samples, obtained commercially or through MGH, were hybridized with the designed MERFISH library and stained with a cell boundary marker to delineate cells across the tissue. We performed unsupervised clustering to identify cell types and we calculated spatial statistics to characterize how the cell type distribution varied between MMRd and MMRp tumors. We identified the cellular composition of each tumor, including immune and stromal cells, and the spatial distribution of these cell types. We were able to readily identify all cell types and states previously discovered by single-cell RNA sequencing2 in intact patient specimens, thus providing an accurate map of the cellular composition and spatial organization of these cells in the tumor microenvironment. We transformed these cell types into neighborhoods and discovered a highly organized spatial distribution of most cell types throughout the tumor. While spatial organization was observed in both MMRp and MMRd CRC we saw a significant shift in spatial organization between these tumor classifications notably in the immune population. Further, previously predicted multicellular interaction networks2 appeared as spatially organized structures in the tissue and were distinct in MMRd versus MMRp tumor specimens. Our data provide a richness of concrete hypotheses about which cells are working together, how these cells function cooperatively, and where these cells are located which will be critical in advancing therapy in these immunologically distinct types of colorectal cancer. These cancer maps are critical to truly understand the biology of CRC as well as identify avenues for the development of future therapies for CRC patients. Citation Format: Colles Price, Jonathan H. Abstract:
Kata Kunci : Implementasi Program, Rehabilitasi Sosial Daerah Kumuh (RSDK) The Slum Area Social Rehabilitation Program (RSDK) is one of the policies of the Surabaya City Government that has been implemented since 2003. This program is implemented based on Mayor Regulation number 41 of 2015 concerning General Guidelines for the implementation of the Surabaya City Slum Social Rehabilitation Program. The implementation of the RSDK Program aims to improve the socio-economic standard of life of the community and the environment by means of house improvements and community empowerment. The main components in the RSDK Program are 1) preparation of the Poor Family Development Unit (UPKM); 2) improving the environment and building houses that are not suitable for habitation; and 3) growth and / or development of family socio-economic skills. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the RSDK Program has gone well so that many people have had a positive impact from this program. However, in the implementation process, several obstacles were still found, such as a lack of public interest in this program which resulted in the low participation and understanding of the community regarding this program, the Poor Family Development Unit (UPKM) as the main figure in the implementation of this program was considered less active in mobilizing and inviting the wider community. To participate, the number of workers / human resources for house repairs is still inadequate, and minimal financial assistance is an obstacle to house repairs because the damage in each building is different. The method used in this research is library research by collecting data sources from existing literatures. The purpose of this study was to determine and assess the implementation of the RSDK Program in Surabaya City. This study was analyzed using George Edward III's theory of implementation by examining four factors or policy variables, namely bureaucratic structure, resources, communication and disposition. Keywords: Program Implementation, Slum Area Social Rehabilitation (RSDK)

Abstract:
Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa is part of the Itihāsa which contains elements of heroism and leadership. Leadership is a very fundamental thing to discuss because it is closely related to everyday life. Today it is difficult to find an ideal type of leader like the Daśaratha in the Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa. For this reason, the purpose of writing this article is to examine the leadership tips of the Daśaratha so that they can be reflected by prospective leaders or even those who are leading. One of the most obvious descriptions of the ideal leader that can be used as a reflection by today's leaders is in Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa sargah I pada 3. To be able to study properly and correctly and obtain reliable findings, the author uses the Hermeneutics theory proposed by Hans-George Gadamer as a tool for study. Regarding the method, the writer uses an interpretive descriptive approach, considering that the writing of this article is part of a qualitative research that is oriented towards library research. The writing of this article is directed at three discussions related to Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa sargah I's reflection on 3 in forming intellectual, divine, and humanist leaders. To form an intellectual type of leadership, a leader must be oriented to the Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa sargah I pada 3 which reads "wruh sira riṅ Wéda". Then to form a divine type of leadership, a leader must be oriented to the Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa sargah I pada 3 which reads "bhakti riṅ déwa". And finally, to form a humanist type of leadership, a leader must be oriented to the Kakawin Rāmāyaṇa sargah I pada 3 which reads "tar malupéṅ pitrēpūja, māsih ta siréṅ swagotra kabéh".
