Abstract:
Landscape is our modern environment and the rocks that constituting are simultaneous the materials from which are made our cities. May be, some students have seen these geological outcrops, but what are they knowing about the way that they have formed, the way that they act on humans and the way that humans act on them? It is very important the selection of urban pedagogical geotopes because their study will contribute in the understanding of the local geological history, and they will help each student separately to develop useful skills and also they will sensitize the general public. There are three cities types or three sections in the cities that they can coexist in a city or it can appear one or a combination of two (Tab. 1). In type 1, exist impressive or simply obvious natural geological resources. In type 2, the appearance of geological natural resources is very limited, but exists. In these two types of cities, we are looking for "typical geotopes" and there is the opportunity to promote the geological natural resource in the urban environment and indicate his relation with historical, social and cultural development of city. In type 3, does not exist the least appearance of geological resources. In this category belong usually the centres of big cities and the probability to find typical geotopes is minimal. In this type, if we want to promote the idea of geological heritage we should "create" a geological resource that means a "non typical geotope". In these cases the built environment - buildings, statues, monuments (Tab. 5), even cemeteries, streets mainly pedestrian zones Tab. 6), pavements and other constructions which their materials (Tab. 7) (rocks and constructions materials) are emanating from geological natural resources – can constitute a "not typical geotope". Educationally these "non typical geotopes" offer a great challenge to discover the local geological history. As a "non typical geotope" in Athens is proposed the "appearance" of Iridanos river in the METRO Station Monastiraki (Tab. 8).

Abstract:
This study presents the first complete list of the most important geological features and landforms of Crete. Identification of geo topes and collection of data were based on earlier publications and similar efforts, search in existing scientific literature and field observations. A database was formed containing the overall documentation of each geotope, on which evaluation was afterwards implemented. Worldwide tested methodologies were used for the recognition of the importance and value for each geotope, as well as, the identification of possible threats and future perspectives for local economic and scientific development. About 132 geotopes were recognized for their national or regional importance, their representativeness for the interpretation of Cretan geology and impact on natural ecosystems and local culture. The majority of these geotopes are of high scientific and aesthetic value serving in our days tourist and scientific/educational purposes. Generally no serious threats or dangers have been recognized, except of few caves where the impact of massive tourism is serious. These results set a minimum base for the conservation and enhancement of Cretan earth heritage, that should be followed by nationally based actions for further recognition and legal protection of our geodiversity

Abstract:
The article describes the experience of landscape sites (geotopes) and elementary watersheds modeling with the ARCMAP tools for determination of valuable forests in poorly studied areas of the Russian Far East. The authors substantiate the possibility and expediency of simultaneous use of two different matrices which represents various properties of land cover – geostationary landscape sites matrix and geodynamic river basins matrix. Biodiversity is determined by the landscape heterogeneity. Landscape units – geotops – can be calculate/obtained via geomorphometry-and-landform tools in GIS software. Elementary river basin is functional unit of the landscape, providing its integrity with the transfer of matter and energy. Hydrological tools in GIS can implement the watershed modeling. Modeling involves a number of consecutive and interconnected operations. Choosing key factor of landscape differentiation via a tool «Landform Classification» for each geographic province. Primary geomorphology modeling – includes altitude levels, slope, aspect, plan and profile curvature, topographic index, height above the river, Euclidean distance to the river, flow direction, flow accumulation, stream raster. Secondary geomorphology modeling is a combination of primary rasters to obtain geotop network. Vegetation cover modeling consist of spatial imagery unsupervised classification for the generation of spectrally different vegetation classes. The final step – calculation of integrated (geotops and vegetation classes) diversity via Zonal statistic tool. The river basins with the highest potential level of biodiversity may be proposed for protection as one of the High Conservation Value Forests (HCVFs) categories.

Abstract:
Calcerous tufa and sinter are among the most impressive natural spectacles in karst landscapes whose scientific and aesthetic value is universally recognized. Being visually often very appealing they attract numerous visitors. At the same time tufa landforms are extremely vulnerable and can be seriously damaged even by minor interference. The challenge is, therefore, to protect the calcerous tufa heritage, to communicate its values, and to enhance it with the help of adequate geotourism offers. Tufa geotopes are an essential part of the geological heritage of the UNESCO Global Geopark Swabian Alb in Southwest Germany. Unfortunately tufa landforms, especially tufa cascades, suffer serious impairments by (over-)tourism, particularly during the Corona pandemic. The article explores where best to strike the balance between valorization and protection, as well as how to ensure that growth in tourism is compatible with nature preservation, especially in the case of the extremely vulnerable tufa geotopes.

Abstract:
The purpose of this review is, initially, to emphasize the importance of geoenvironmental education for the promotion and preservation of geological heritage and geoethical values, and based on these, to present the current situation in Greece. Geoeducation is a broader component of environmental education which aims to promote the geological heritage of a place and its geoconservation. It is a key integral tool for tackling environmental issues and therefore further assisting in sustainable development. Greece is known for its exceptional and rare natural beauty, as well as for the abundance of natural resources and its remarkable geological features. For this reason, six global geoparks have already been established in this country. However, its nature protection is mainly considered as the protection of biodiversity, while the term “geodiversity” is almost absent in Greek law. The importance of establishing a legal framework for the protection of geotopes is underlined by the fact that their promotion and rational management create opportunities for sustainable development, as well as to become quality tourist destinations (geotourism) through nature protection and education. Geodiversity can gain public attention and have a positive impact on geotopes protection. Such initiatives can not only improve the protection of geological sites, but also play an important role in their sustainable development.

Abstract:
Folklore has been used to investigate ancient cultures and civilizations for a long time to ground separate historical facts or natural phenomena. Although there have been quite a few predictions and claims about ‘the racional grain‘ in Lithuanian folklore, it has been investigated very little deliberately. The aim of this paper work is to compare mythological versions of geotopes‘origin with scientific data taking Lithuania as a basis and to apply the results while teaching Geography. The paper work comprises the used methodology, methods and sources. The Theory Part deals with nature and mythology. The nature part consists of Lithuanian natural heritage objects, their division and geotopes. The Mythological Part deals with the most relevant information about folklore and its breakdown. Narrative folklore (sagas, legends and stories) receives a great portion of attention. The following section provides brief information about the science of geomythology, opinions of Lithuanian scientists, topicality of the science and relevant investigation. The last section deals with application of mythological versions and scientific data in a teaching process. There are also two educational investigations provided: a questionnaire and an application of folklore in three different Geography lessons. The results of this paper work show that geomythological method has proved to be very useful while investigating... [to full text]

Abstract:
Essa abordagem pode ser utilizada como ferramenta para um melhor planejamento urbano brasileiro aliado a qualidade ambiental.<br>The main objective of this thesis it was to evaluate the use of the sustainability indicator named \"BAF\" (Biotope Area Factor) to mapping urban geotopes present in the drainage basin \"Aguas Espraiada\" (São Paulo-SP-Brazil) in two historical moments, 1958 and 2011. The landscape units studied were classified as geotopes as proposed by Bertrand. Considering this classification we mapped the geotopes, and using BAF we did the analysis of the surface waterproofing coefficients that covers the studied area. Using this methodology it is possible to identify the geotopes incompatible with sustainability and propose clever solutions. This approach can be used as a tool for a better Brazilian urban planning associated with environmental quality.

Abstract:

<p>During the last years a great effort has taken place to create a common IT-strategy within the Swedish national police board. This to establish a foundation for decision making concerning strategy principles was formed on the activity. The principles describes how the technical architecture is going to be developed and shapes the major rule and direction that’s makes the decision possible. To investigate and use products that is used already within the organisation shall primary take in consideration. Also is the usage of established industrial standards important to create cooperation and exchange between application and platforms. The choose of programming language Java and the service oriented architecture is a direct cause of the IT-strategy and was adopted to make the organisation to be platforms independent</p><p>The purpose with this master thesis has been to draw up specifications of the demands for a developing tool for geographic information system (GIS) that are in line with the IT-strategy and in collaboration with affected personal on the Swedish national police board. A comparison study has been the procedure to examine the choice of GIS solution for similar organisations and it has been guiding in the work with specification of demands. In the first phase only the demands on Java have been significant on closed and open source software that has been investigated. Next the chosen developing tools has been verified against the specification of demands and resulted in a recommendation. Although the Swedish national police board doesn’t have an official policy for open source products the proposal of the software GeoTools is going to be feasible after up coming investigation about open source software is finished. Concerning the proposal for closed software has ended up in alternative solutions depending on short or long term solutions. MapXtreme Java and Oracle Spatial consider being equivalent alternitivs for a long term solution while MapObjects Java considers being appropriate choice for a short term solution.</p><br><p>De senaste åren har ett omfattande arbete lagts ner på att skapa en gemensam IT-strategi inom Rikspolisstyrelsen (RPS).
