Abstract:

For a human being deprived of freedom, prison isolation can be a source of frustration. However, the needs of the elderly due to specific conditioning connected with the aging process make their adaptation to prison conditions more complicated. The article concerns specific problems of seniors in custody in penitentiary units with reference to theoretical and practical aspects of pedagogy of senescence and resocialization geragogy. The main subject of interest of pedagogy of senescence is upbringing of an elderly person, understood as supporting their development (physical, mental, social, cultural, spiritual). Resocialization geragogy draws attention to the need to allow for psychophysical conditions of seniors, reinforcing their sense of dignity and relevance of subjecting them to supportive influence aiming at growing their awareness that senility is a good time to acquire knowledge, skills and create habits, attitudes and behaviors.

Abstract:

In the text, an attempt was made to analyse selected issues related to gerontology in the relationship to people with disabilities. The context of analyses is the tendency of social ageing tendencies, observed in Poland and in the world, especially in European countries. Selected areas of reflection are combined with the conviction that there is a need for research which would fill in the gap in the field of research carried out so far, focused on the issue of the broadly defined life situation of the people with disabilities in the senior years, which is in the scientific merit of Polish special needs education (pedagogics). There is a justified fear that these individuals are more likely to experience marginalisation and exclusion in many areas of life than people of similar age in the general population.

Abstract:

Pflegen war traditionell in erster Linie mit praktischen Verrichtungen am kranken Menschen verbunden. Moderne Pflege versteht sich als wissenschaftsbasiertes Konzept, das sich mehr oder weniger psychosozialen Aspekten öffnet. Die Geragogik fühlt sich in ihrer förderbetonten Hinwendung zu Senioren zu Pflegemodellen hingezogen, die psychosozialen Komponenten mehr Bedeutung einräumen. Daraus ergeben sich Chancen für eine Kooperation von Pflege und Geragogik.

Abstract:

Przygotowanie się do emerytury, w dobie starzejącego się społeczeństwa, staje się problemem nie tylko jednostkowym, ale również społecznym. Staje się wyzwaniem dla geragogiki, a także dla polityki społecznej państwa czy działalności samorządów. Przygotowanie osób wchodzących w „trzeci wiek” do czasu na emeryturze stwarza im szansę na aktywne przeżywanie starości oraz ułatwienie życia w starzejącym się społeczeństwie. W niniejszym artykule koncentruję się na zależności między wykonywanym zawodem a obrazem własnej starości i przygotowaniem się do niej. Artykuł jest również próbą wskazania obszarów, w jakich powinno się odbywać przygotowanie do emerytury. Abstract:

Populacja się starzeje i - zdaniem demografów - zjawisko to będzie podlegało jeszcze większej intensyfikacji. Pomimo tego, że coraz wyraźniej dostrzegamy specyficzne problemy ludzi na jesieni życia, wciąż mamy do czynienia z dyskryminacją ze względu na wiek, a tematy takie jak seksualność seniora pozostają tematem tabu. Ponadto dominujący konsumpcjonizm oraz kult młodości i ciała zdają się umniejszać wszelkie możliwe dyskusje znajdujące się na marginesie życia społecznego. Dodatkowo, istnienie licznych mitów i stereotypów nie zawsze odzwierciedla prawdziwy obraz aktywności seksualnej osób starszych. Jednocześnie nauki społeczne częściej obejmują konieczność uczenia się zarówno do osiągnięcia starości, jak i na samą starość, a zadaniem edukacji powinno być przełamywanie różnego rodzaju tabu, które dotyczy seniorów. Ponadto potrzeba edukacji skierowanej zarówno do osób starszych, jak i do reszty społeczeństwa, do kształtowania postawy zrozumienia i akceptacji, do zwalczania stereotypów i ignorowania problemów dotykających tę grupę wiekową, co z kolei wpływa na poprawę jakości ich życia, staje się bardziej widoczne w ostatnim czasie. Celem tego artykułu jest wykazanie, że tabu seksualności seniora powinno stać się przedmiotem zainteresowania, wyzwaniem dla współczesnej geragogiki. Inspiracją do napisania tego tekstu były wywiady z seniorami.

Abstract:

Starość jest jednym ze współczesnych wyzwań pedagogicznych. Rozwijane są coraz szerzej teoretyczne i praktyczne aspekty geragogiki. Personalistyczna koncepcja człowieka stanowić może dla nich odpowiednią podstawę. Wynikająca z niej realistyczna i pozytywna, ugruntowana metafizycznie i etycznie wizja starości jako czasu najbliższego osiągnięcia pełni osobowego rozwoju uzasadnia podejmowanie działań wychowawczych dotyczących tego etapu życia. Przyjmować mogą one postać wychowania do starości, w starości i przez starość oraz obejmować osoby i społeczeństwa. Potencjalny projekt integralnego, permanentnego wychowania w perspektywie starości napotyka jednak obiektywne przeszkody uwarunkowane specyfiką funkcjonowania osób starszych i śro- dowisk, w których żyją. Przeżywanie starości na miarę posiadanej godności osobowej, będące celem personalistycznej pedagogii starości zaprezentowanej w artykule, stanowi możliwe, lecz wymagające wyzwanie dla seniorów i starzejących się społeczeństw.

Abstract:

The currenly growing preference for "active aging" aims to promote the longest possible physical and mental vitality. Caring for the spiritual development and spiritual needs of older people is usually thought to be a private matter, or an area within the competence of churches, and related to traditionally religious older people. With regard to the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual unity of the person, it is evident that spirituality ? and spiritual needs as its expression ? belong in the life of every individual, though it is primarily an individual experience linked to a particular personality and life history. Through spirituality they seek to answer questions relating to the purpose and pursuit of life, to higher values, to the processing of suffering and evil, and to some questions having eschatological character. This dissertation defines spirituality's everyday place on the path to a good life in old age. The empirical part of the dissertation is a qualitative study called Spiritual Needs in the Daily Life of the Elderly in Southern Bohemia. The first part shows the development of religiosity or spirituality of two dozen South Bohemians over seventy-five years, focusing on the period of early religious socialization, stages of working life under the rule of Communism, and the present form of religiosity or spirituality. The second part presents a possible typology of their fundamental spiritual needs: dignity, sense of continuity in ones life story, hope, faith and love. On the basis of these findings, recommendations are then put forward for pastoral, social, and geragogical practices.

Alter und Altern gilt in Deutschland derzeit als eines der wichtigsten Zukunftsfelder wissenschaftlicher Forschung. Dabei liegt ein besonderes Augenmerk auf der nachberuflichen Lebensphase, dem so genannten dritten Lebensalter. Eine Gesellschaft des um 20-30 Jahre verlängerten Lebens bei meist guter Gesundheit ist kulturgeschichtlich ein neues Phänomen für das es keine Vorbilder gibt, so dass der jetzigen Generation der „jungen Alten“ eine gestalterische Aufgabe für sich und die Nachfolgegenerationen zukommt. Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Thema Altern zunächst aus humanistischer und daran anschließend aus biblisch-theologischer Sicht. Diese beiden Kapitel enthalten grundlegende Aussagen zum Thema Altern aus unterschiedlichen Disziplinen und beziehen diese, wo möglich, aufeinander. Sie bilden die Grundlage und Voraussetzung für das Folgekapitel, in dem Bedeutung, Möglichkeiten und Grenzen von Biografiearbeit als praktisch-theologisches Bildungsangebot in der pastoralen Begleitung von Menschen in der nachberuflichen Lebensphase untersucht werden. Dabei wird offensichtlich, dass sowohl gerontologische Literatur als auch biblische Texte Biografiearbeit an einschneidenden Wendepunkten des Lebens als eine wichtige Voraussetzung für gelingendes Leben darstellen. Der Person und der Professionalität der Anleiterin kommen in dem Prozess biografischer Selbstreflexion mit älteren Menschen eine tragende Rolle zu.
Old age and the process of aging is currently one of the most important fields for future scientific study and research. Special focus is centered on the post-career phase. A society where life is prolonged for an extra 20 to 30 years, most of which are spent in reasonably good health, is culturally speaking a recent phenomenon for which there are no historical models. It follows, that the current generation bears a great responsibility in shaping and moulding this stage in their lives not only for themselves but also for future generations. This dissertation concentrates on the theme of aging, first from a humanistic point of view, and secondly by focusing on biblical and theological aspects. Both of these chapters contain fundamental and important statements regarding the subject of aging as seen from different disciplines, and, wherever possible, with reference to each other. They build the basis and prerequisite for the following chapter in which the significance and possibilities as well as the limits of biography work is researched in view of pastoral care and training for elderly people in the post employment phase of their life. It becomes obvious, that not only gerontological literature but also biblical texts depict biographical work as an important prerequisite for a life experienced as being successful, especially at drastic turning points in life. A vital part in biographical reflection with elderly people is played by the person and professionalism of the instructor.

Abstract:

Language learning experiences seem to lead to advantages for the elderly in the social, psychological and cognitive spheres. Learning languages is not only useful for the quality of life of the elderly and for their active participation in society, but it also has an important role in stimulating and maintaining cognitive resources, increasing cognitive reserves and countering their decline favouring the development of compensation processes. From this point of view, learning languages for the elderly is not only possible but it is also desirable. This justifies a FL geragogic model, called cognitive-emotional scaffolding, which can become the basis of a project to teach foreign languages to elderly learners.
