Untuk menjawab beberapa pertanyaan tersebut, penulis melakukan penelitian kepustakaan. Abstract:
The aim of this study is to find out the situation, condition, and politic impact towards Acehnese society in ten years after reconciliation. The qualitative research is used in this study which the result to create a systemic, factual, and accurate description of the facts, characteristics as well as the related phenomena which is being investigation. The collecting data, the researcher used interview and field observation in Lhoksemawe, North Aceh, and Bireun. The result found that the political dominance in the East Coast Aceh is still controlled by Gerakan Aceh Merdeka which is affecting the political policies between Central Government and Aceh Government. For instance, it emerge the major conflicts within Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, such as Din Minimi, and political party rivalry. This political dynamics phenomena also affects the East Coast society life, such as political violence, intimidation, terror, and other political violences

Abstract:
This article tries to explain how the relationship between Islam and politics after the conflict between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). After the peace agreement between the two parties with the signing of the Helsinki MoU, the Indonesian government interpreted the agreement in Law No. 11 of 2006 concerning the Government of Aceh (UUPA). The presence of the act makes the ulama a partner of the government in running the wheels of government by giving fatwa on issues of government, development, community development, and the economy. Furthermore, after peace, the role of the ulama was not only to give knowledge to the community, some ulama participated in practical politics. This was one of the effects of the UUPA, where Aceh was given the privilege of establishing local political parties. At present some ulama have occupied various positions in party management, and even participated in the regional head election (PILKADA), where religious values are used as a means of gaining power.

Abstract:
This paper aims to pursue appropriate strategies to shape students’ characters and sense of nationalism through formal education in Aceh. Grounded in the structured interviews, focused group discussions, and observations, this qualitative case study reveals that Aceh, as one province in Indonesia, which was trapped in prolonged army conflict, needs character education that focuses on the nation-state paradigm. The contemporary Acehnese society is also facing new cultural, ethnic, inter-religious conflicts, as well as internal conflicts among Muslims. The seed of these conflicts becomes increasingly worse when infiltrated by the contemporary political interests in the province. During the era of military conflict, Pendidikan Moral Pancasila (Pancasila Moral Education) was deemed “a dangerous” subject to be taught in Aceh schools due to its contradictory nature against the ideology of Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (Free Aceh Movement). Despite downgrading the students’ spirit of nationalism, such situation has gradually been changed since a peace agreement between the two parties, Indonesian government and Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, was achieved in August 2005. Nevertheless, this demonstrates the need to overhaul curriculum and instructional strategies in the pursuit of the democratization in the province.

Otonomi khusus di Aceh dan Papua, merupakan suatu desentralisasi asimetrik, sebagai jalan tengah untuk mewujudkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, dalam menyelesaian konflik bersenjata yang menginginkan pemisahan dari Negara Kesatuan yang merdeka. Penerapan otonomi khusus tersebut didasarkan pada Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2001 tentang Otonomi Khusus Bagi Daerah Istimewa Aceh Sebagai Provinsi Nangroe Aceh Darussalam, dan Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2001 Tentang Otonomi Khusus Bagi Provinsi Papua. Pemberlakuan otonomi khusus di Aceh, tidak dapat berjalan sebagaimana yang diharapkan. Reaksi keras menolak otonomi khusus dilakukan oleh gerakan perlawanan bersenjata Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM). Namun berkenaan adanya bencana nasional Tsunami Desember 2004, dengan kehancuran Banda Aceh total, Meulaboh dan daerah sekitarnya, dengan korban tewas mencapai lebih dari 112.000 jiwa, dan dengan keterbukaan pemerintah, akhirnya tercapai MOU Helsinki Finlandia, yang berujung dikeluarkannya Undang- Undang Nomor 11 Tahun 2006 Tentang Pemerintahan Aceh. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah apa yang melatarbelakangi fenomena korupsi di Aceh dan Papua, dan bagaimana strategi penindakannya. Metode yang dipakai adalah yuridis normatif. Dalam perkembangan di Provinsi Papua, dibentuk provinsi baru melalui Undang-Undang Nomor 35 Tahun 2008 Tentang Pembentukan Provinsi Papua Barat. Ironisnya upaya mensukseskan otonomi khusus tersebut, baik di Aceh maupun di Papua, justru terjadi fenomena korupsi. Sampai sekarang, pemberantasan korupsi yang dilakukan oleh jajaran penegak hukum yaitu Polri, Kejaksaan, maupun KPK, cenderung kurang maksimal Untuk itu sangat diperlukan strategi penindakan dengan langkah yang represif.

Konflik bersenjata yang terjadi di Aceh mulai mereda sejak adanya MoU antara Pemerintah Republik Indonesia dan Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) pada 15 Agustus 2005 di Helsinki, Finlandia. MoU Helsinki mampu menghentikan konflik bersenjata di Aceh karena pelarangan dalam penggunaan senjata secara eksplisit diatur pada beberapa pasal MoU Helsinki. MoU Helsinki merupakan Nota Kesepahaman antara Pemerintah Republik Indonesia (RI) dengan Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM) tentang penyelesaian konflik Aceh secara damai berdasarkan hasil perundingan di Helsinki, Finlandia. Rumusan masalah yang diangkat terkait status hukum nota MoU Helsinki ditinjau berdasarkan hukum hukum perjanjian internasional serta apakah MoU tersebut tunduk terhadap hukum internasional atau tidak Penelitian ini menggunakan metode yuridis normatif dengan menekankan pada penggunaan sumber data sekunder sebagai acuan utama. Metode pendekatan menggunakan pendekatan perundang-undangan, conceptual approach, case approach, statute approach dan historis. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa latar belakang adanya MoU Helsinki karena adanya ketidakadilan terhadap masyarakat Aceh. MoU Helsinki bukan merupakan perjanjian internasional karena GAM termasuk kepada kaum belligerent /bukan sebagai subyek hukum internasional sehingga tidak dapat dikatakan sebagai pernjanjian yang tunduk pada hukum internasional karena tidak dapat dibuktikan sejak perundingan, pembuatan naskah perjanjian, pemberlakuan, pelaksanaan, hingga penyelesaian sengketa. Saran dari penulisan ini adalah mengutamakan upaya damai sebagai cara penyelesaian konflik, pengawalan pelaksanaan isi MoU Helsinki dan penegakkan kasus pelanggaran HAM.

Pemerintah wilayah otonom Catalonia, Spanyol, mengumumkan 90 persen dari 2,26 juta orang yang memberikan suara dalam referendum kemerdekaan pada 1 Oktober 2017, memilih untuk merdeka dari Spanyol. Jumlah itu mewakili sekitar 42,3 persen dari total pemilih Catalonia yang mencapai 5,34 juta. Situasi yang dialami Catalonia hampir mirip dengan Provinsi Aceh Darussalam yang pernah menuntut pemisahan diri dari Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia. Perlawanan bersenjata di Aceh, tahun 1976 melalui organisasi Gerakan Aceh Merdeka (GAM), berakhir tahun 2005 setelah Pemerintah Indonesia menandatangani perjanjian Helsinki dengan GAM, dan menjadikan Aceh sebagai provinsi dengan otonomi khusus dalam pangkuan NKRI. Studi ini membahas karakteristik pers di Aceh dikaitkan wacana pemisahan sebuah wilayah dari negara. Peneliti menggunakan metode Analisis Wacana Kritis model Norman Fairclough untuk menganalisis cara dan gaya pemberitaan media portal berita lokal Aceh, serta melakukan wawancara dengan dua orang pimpinan Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia Banda Aceh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, masih terdapat wacana tersembunyi dukungan jurnalis muda media lokal Aceh terhadap ide kemerdekaan yang didorong oleh ketidakpuasan hasil pembangunan di Aceh.

Hukum adat Aceh merupakan hukum adat yang mengacu pada ketentuan Al-Qur’an dan Hadits. Hukum adat Aceh sudah berlaku sejak 19 Desember 2000 dengan alasan untuk mencegah terjadinya pemisahan Aceh dari NKRI dimana gejolak Gerakan Aceh Merdeka sudah mencapai puncaknya. Tetapi dengan diberlakukannya hukum Syariat Islam di Aceh mendapatkan banyak reaksi dari masyarakat. Pro dan kontra mengenai permasalahan tersebut terus dilontarkan oleh kalangan masyarakat yang menganggap bahwa tindakan tersebut termasuk diskriminasi sosial terhadap masyarakat Non-Muslim di Aceh. Dalam pembahasan kali ini, akan dijelaskan bagaimana pemerintah Aceh menjalankan hukum adatnya tanpa adanya tindakan diskriminasi sosial. Pada akhir pembahasan akan disimpulkan bahwa warga Non-Muslim Aceh akan tetap dikenakan aturan tersebut jika perbuatannya tidak diatur dalam hukum nasional atau KUHP.

Abstract:
Peace has finally come to Aceh. The Indonesian province has suffered for over 30 years through conflict with the Indonesian army. Instrumental in having achieved this peaceful outcome has been the role of the European Union (EU). Its crucial monitoring role and long term commitment had a profound impact on the province, helping to end the hostilities and to rebuild Aceh. The EU-led Aceh Monitoring Mission (AMM) is the central feature of this thesis. Like Aceh, Europe has experienced wars. However, since the beginnings of Western European institution building, peace and cooperation in the region transpired. This phenomenon has spread across the continent. The progressive structure enabled the EU to flourish as a cooperative institution, especially in the aftermath of the Cold War east-west division. This period also gave the EU an opportunity to expand its peaceful legacy by exporting its values abroad. The development of the EU's external capability to deliver such aspirations is a central part of this thesis. The thesis seeks to draw a connection with the EU's quest to bring peace to Aceh with international relations (IR) theory. As such, it assesses the EU's motives and interests in the Aceh peace process to discover what they were based on. After assessing both realist and liberalist IR viewpoints, the thesis’ central findings confirm the liberal motives of the EU. The EU has predominantly acted in the interests of Aceh. It helped bring many liberal based values to the province and experienced constructive relations with Indonesia and other powers in the region. Whilst realist orientated EU power motives are outlined, the EU's liberal agenda based on mediation, peace and security, multilateralism, democracy and human rights - as core liberal elements - are more convincing explanations as this thesis argues.

Abstract:
Superficial information of the civil wars in Aceh, Indonesia and Sri Lanka creates the idea that both conflicts were in similar situations when they were hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004. It thus seems surprising that in the wake of the tsunami, the Free Aceh Movement and the Government of Indonesia signed a peace agreement, while the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and the Government of Sri Lanka returned to war. This thesis aims to explore what factors related to the tsunami contributed to this difference and whether rational choice theory can serve as an explanation for this difference. In order to find out, I conducted a qualitative comparative case study though the analysis of secondary documents. The results suggest that the factors that contributed to the difference can be divided into four broad themes: (1) the timing of the tsunami and thus the pre-disaster context; (2) the geographical situation and with that, the military impact; (3) the types of guerilla groups, including their abilities to rule, their access to financial capital and their strategic; (4) the role of the international community, which can be further divided into firstly, the geopolitical relevance of these countries, and secondly, internationalization, community engagement and separating the tsunami and conflict. I believe that rational choice theory explains the difference in outcome between the two conflicts very well. This theory assumes that people, given the circumstances, and in view of all the possible options, will act in line with the option that is expected to satisfy them most and minimize their losses. Applying this theory to the case studies of Aceh and Sri Lanka following the tsunami, it was appealing for the Free Aceh Movement to settle, but this was not the case for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. As a result, the former chose to sign a peace agreement with the Government of Indonesia, whereas the latter chose to continue its fight against the Government of Sri Lanka.

This study to explore the historical context of Aceh, Indonesia and the "Free Aceh Movement" organization (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, GAM) to form a study on the development and to explore the South Asian tsunami in 2004 and 2005 after peace talks in Aceh, GAM disarm disarmament and the establishment of Aceh Province in 2006 the after-effects and post-tsunami GAM during the transformation of organizational development. Therefore, by the historical context of Indonesia's Aceh. Aceh on Indonesia's political development and the impact of research topics, to understand the various liberation movements in Aceh historical development process, and explore the post-tsunami period, "Free Aceh Movement" development transformation and liberation movements in Aceh members of the newly established government of Aceh Province is also the main conclusions of this thesis. By use of social science research methods to explore the development of GAM and transformation, social science is essentially a matter to explore and explain the realization of this fact as the reason, the research methodology is used to collect and process data means, and its proceedings. Research data collection system on the "History of Law", "Document analysis", "Content analysis" as the main method, and plans to take the writing "hypothetical deductive method", the first attempt to summarize the history of Aceh, Indonesia development context and development of nationalism in Indonesia the process of the control relationship. Period through the analysis of documents, organize GAM movement for the emancipation of the historical process of development and transformation. The emergence of GAM, although history, geography and religious background of different cultures, but the key change factors for Indonesia in the "New Order Iperiod" to "nationalism in Indonesia," meaning cut, into "Java nationalism", resulting in Aceh from the original proposal for the separation of religion. Intensified campaign, and then there's the conflict between Indonesia and Aceh, and armed action, and has since launched a desperate armed with Zhongyangzhengfu fight numerous casualties. However, "Nationalism in Indonesia" development and the "Islamic nation-building movement", Hasan Di Tiro and the "GAM" and the idea of setting up, affecting the "GAM" organization and development process. The Government of Indonesia and the GAM signed a peace agreement,2005. Set the "Aceh Province", 2006. However, an elected governor, "Universitas Syiah Kuala, UNSYIAH" department of veterinary medicine graduate and had worked as a veterinary organization and leadership of the former of GAM, "Irwandi Yusuf", he was elected first the highest head of Aceh Province, in Indonesia. Aceh Province was the only implementation of the "Islamic social law "and" Islamic law "province. After the period of the tsunami, GAM movement in transition, and the GAM members newly established government of Aceh Province, it will be the ultimate goal of this thesis.

The 2004 tsunami disaster brings Aceh to the global attention to her long existing problems with the Java central government. Aceh was the entrance of Islam into the Malay world. 98.11% of the 4.1 million populations in the region are Muslims, and they have been the most pious believers in Indonesia. Because of her special status in Islamic history of the region, Aceh has been known as “Serambi Mekkah”. The first Islamic Pasai sultanate of the Malay world was established in Aceh in the 13th century. After collapse of the Melacca Sultanate, Aceh became commercial, religious and cultural centre of the Malay world. Aceh’s glorious history and Islamic traditions had great influence on the Malay world. Because of the special religious and cultural background, the Aceh independent movement (GAM) has always been deemed to be religious upheaval. Despite the Indonesian central government has made great concession to the GAM organization in religious affairs such as setting up a separate Islamic law system and religious educational institution, the conflicts between the former and the latter have never been settled with satisfaction. Therefore the Aceh secession appeal should not be viewed simply as a religious upheaval, but rather a multi-factor independent movement. This study is based on the “Secessionism Model of Integrity “theory by Alexis Heraclides to examine the relations amongst the Aceh secession movement, the Indonesian government, and the international organizations. This thesis will discuss the following themes: the consolidation of the Acehness Islamic nationhood (Darul Islam), the formation and development of the GAM, the influence of the Indonesian domestic policy and administration system, and the participation and influence of the NGOs.

Abstract:
This chapter describes the specific configuration of the political and agrarian structure in Aceh during the civil war and after. It presents two analysis. The first is an analysis of the general land politics in Aceh during and after the war, tracing the Free Aceh Movement's (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, GAM) development from a rebel movement with a nationalist and popular base to a political party with a rent-seeking practice and an interest in the palm oil economy. The second is an analysis of the institutional mechanisms of dispossession through land-lease allocations. Empirical documentation from two different locations in Aceh illustrates the smallholder plantation land conflicts. By turning space into a frontier under weak claims, new actors were able to seize it through violence, political power, and the paperwork of legalization.
