Vennemann, Theo. "The Relative Chronology of the High Germanic Consonant Shift and the West Germanic Anaptyxis." Diachronica 8, no. 1 (January 1, 1991): 45–57. http://dx.doi.org/10.1075/dia.8.1.04ven.

Abstract:
SUMMARY This paper studies systematic relationships between two sound changes, the High Germanic Consonant Shift and the West Germanic Anaptyxis. Since the High Germanic languages, i.e., High German and Lombardic, are a division of the West Germanic Sprachbund, it might be thought — and this is indeed the general view — that the more extensive West Germanic change necessarily antedates the more limited High Germanic change. But an examination of the relative chronology of the two changes in one of the languages that underwent both of them, Old High German, shows that, on the contrary, the systematic order of the two changes is the opposite: The better theory of the history of the Old High German phonological and morphological system is attained by the assumption that the High Germanic Consonant Shift antedates the West Germanic Anaptyxis. This result is in agreement with the author's overall theory of the Germanic Consonant Shifts by which the bifurcation of the Proto-Germanic tenues into the Low Germanic aspirates and the High Germanic affricates is one of the very oldest Germanic innovations.

Abstract:

MONDACA, JOSÉ, and ANDREW B. T. SMITH. "A revision of the southern South American genus Bolborhinum Boucomont (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae: Bolboceratinae)." Zootaxa 1794, no. 1 (June 13, 2008): 1. http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/zootaxa.1794.1.1.

Full text
Abstract:
The genus Bolborhinum Boucomont (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae: Bolboceratinae: Bolboceratini) is revised and now contains eight species: B. geotrupoides (Laporte), B. laesicolle (Fairmaire), B. nasutum (Fairmaire and Germain), B. seai (Martínez), B. shajovskoyi (Martínez), B. tricorne (Solier), B. trilobulicorne new species, and B. tubericeps (Fairmaire). The genus Bolborhinum is redescribed and a key to species in English and Spanish, a checklist, distributional and temporal data, and designation of lectotypes and neotypes are given. All species in the genus are diagnosed and illustrated, and distributional records with maps for all species are included. Additionally, some observations on the natural history of Bolborhinum species are presented. One new synonym is proposed: Bolboceras binasutum Fairmaire and Germain is synonymized under Bolborhinum geotrupoides. Lectotypes are designated for the following species-group names: Bolboceras binasutum Fairmaire and Germain (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum geotrupoides), Bolboceras distinguendum Fairmaire and Germain (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum geotrupoides), Bolboceras laesicolle Fairmaire (now Bolborhinum laesicolle), Bolboceras nasutum Fairmaire and Germain (now Bolborhinum nasutum), Bolboceras tetraodon Redtenbacher (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum tubericeps), Bolboceras tricorne Solier (now Bolborhinum tricorne), and Bolboceras tubericeps Fairmaire (now Bolborhinum tubericeps). Neotypes are designated for the following species-group names: Bolboceras andicolaPhilippi (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum nasutum), Bolboceras bicorne Philippi (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum tubericeps), Bolboceras excavatum Philippi (a junior synonym of Bolborhinum laesicolle), and Bolboceras geotrupoides Laporte (now Bolborhinum geotrupoides). Additionally, we here elevate the subgenera Pereirabolbus Martínez and Zefevazia Martínez to the generic level based on morphological comparisons with the genus Bolborhinum. As a result, the following combinations reflect this change in status: Pereirabolbus castaneus (Klug), Pereirabolbus tucumanensis (Boucomont), Zefevazia cantisanii (Martínez), Zefevazia peruana (Boucomont), Zefevazia quinquedentata (Felsche), and Zefevazia rosascostai Martínez. These changes are congruent with the generic concepts of Bolboceratinae from other parts of the world, and with the modern classification of the group.El género Bolborhinum Boucomont (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae: Bolboceratinae: Bolboceratini) es revisado y ahora contiene ocho especies: B. geotrupoides (Laporte), B. laesicolle (Fairmaire), B. nasutum (Fairmaire y Germain), B. seai (Martínez), B. shajovskoyi (Martínez), B. tricorne (Solier), B. trilobulicorne nueva especie, y B. tubericeps (Fairmaire).

Abstract:
A financially successful football club can achieve sporting achievements as well as become financially stable. From this point of view, in this study, the efficiencies of clubs were investigated with the Bi-Objective Multi-Criteria Data Envelopment Analysis (BiO-MCDEA) model by using financial and sporting data of the 2015-2016, 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 seasons of 10 football clubs in the Big-Five League which is the locomotive of the football industry. In the study, the number of social media followers, the average number of viewers and total market value were used as input, and the UEFA club score and total revenues were used as output. As a result, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus were determined as efficient in the 2015-2016 season, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in the 2016-2017 season, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in the 2016-2017 season. The reasons as to why Paris Saint-Germain was efficient in all three seasons were also examined. In addition, in the sensitivity analysis conducted to determine the effect of inputs and outputs on the model, it was concluded that efficiency was highly related to financial data.

Full text
Abstract:
Postnatal rubella is a mild illness, a disease which was considered to be of only minor importance for many years. The first authors to write about the disease as distinct from other exanthemata were German physicians; they differentiated rubella from measles and scarlet fever in the latter part of the eighteenth century and called the disease Rotheln. Hence the common English language eponym is ‘German measles’. Some consider that the term ‘German’ in German measles is probably of literary rather than of geographical significance and that it came from the old French ‘germain’ (derived from the Latin ‘germanus‘), meaning ‘closely akin to’ measles [1]. That it is not generally called by its German name, Rotheln, is due to Veale, a Scottish physician who in 1866 described 30 cases of rubella in the Edinburgh Medical Journal, and proposed ‘rubella’ as a short and euphonius name that could be easily pronounced [2].

At the time few people expected the Court to remain there for long, but after James II’s defeat in Ireland (1690), and the failure of his planned invasion of England (1692), it became clear that there was little hope of an immediate restoration. In the event the Stuarts were to remain at Saint-Germain-en-Laye for a quarter of a century. James II himself died there in 1701. His son James III stayed until 1712, when he was obliged to leave France by the terms of the Treaty of Utrecht (1713). The Queen, Mary of Modena, continued to live at Saint-Germain, and presided over the Court, until her death there in May 1718.

Abstract:
Following the Glorious Revolution of 1688–9, James II and the Stuart royal family lived in exile as the guests of Louis XIV at the Château de St-Germain-en-Laye, near Paris. James II died in 1701 and was succeeded as king-in-exile by his son, James III. The court of these two kings remained at St-Germain-en-Laye for well over 20 years, until James III was expelled from France at the demand of the British government.

Abstract:
For more than 40 years the Rocourt Soil has stood out as an important pedo-stratigraphic marker in Belgium and north-western Europe. Since the seventies the complexity of this Soil was well illustrated, though its pedological and stratigraphic evolution remained doubtful. Macro-, meso- and micromorphological data gathered along long variable sections in Remicourt finally provided the 'missing link' between the Hesbaye sections and the Haine Basin. Soil characteristics allowed to match the Rocourt Soil with three major soil forming processes belonging to the Eemian and the first half of Saint Germain I (18O-stages 5e and 5c). The overlying humiferous sediments and soils, which also incorporate the Rocourt Tephra, are linked with the second half of Saint-Germain I (18O-stage 5c). The loess, stratified sediments and soil covering the humiferous layer are the equivalent of E.B.I, E.B.2 and Malplaquet Soil in Harmignies and belong to Melisey II and Saint Germain II (18O-stage 5b and 5a).
