Research literature on bilingual acquisition of the null subject property has focused on the one hand on young children up to the age of 5 and on the other hand on adult heritage speakers. Literature on early school-aged children is scarce. However, Serratrice (2007) and Wolleb (2013) could not detect differences in terms of cross-linguistic influence (CLI) between monolingual Italian children and bilingual Italian-English children at the age of 5 to 8 years. The present paper presents oral data based on semi-structured interviews of Italian-German children (age 6 to 10, mean 8.2 years, n=12)

Surgery is the standard treatment of symptomatic nodules, nodules with suspicion of malignancy and thyroid cancer. Radioiodine treatment is applied for autonomously functioning nodules. During the last years new non-surgical and non-radioiodine techniques have been introduced to treat thyroid nodules. This dissertation examines detective novels for children and young adults written and published in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The aim of the thesis is to study how the genre developed under the conditions of a socialist society. The analysis of the 66 texts included in the corpus is based on a socio-historical approach assuming that dialogical interdependencies between texts and society exist and can be verified. Central to the analytical work with the texts is the thesis that detective novels written for young readers reflect the socio-political development in East-German society.

The thesis offers a symptomatic reading of three under-researched genres in the field: life writing, young adult literature and film. The figure of the “Muslim” woman or girl performs a crucial role in far-reaching socio-political debates in Germany. Indeed, such figures challenge the boundaries of “gender equality” and “secularism” and contest notions of “tolerance” and “integration”. Significant age differences in self-selected gait kinetics have been reported in the literature. These include reduced torque and power at the ankle and increased work at the hip in older adults as compared to young adults [1, 2]. The reasons for these differences are complex and not fully understood. It is possible older adults adapt their gait to a safer, more stable gait pattern [3]. However, differences in gait may also be due to age-related neuromuscular changes such as reduced muscle strength in older adults [4].

Top reasons for youth migration align with existing literature, including pursuit of job opportunities and education.
