Abstract:
A generation ago Moses Finley said that the councils and the assemblies in the Homeric poems were not genuine deliberative bodies but looser, less productive gatherings. Finley and others regarded these bodies as transitional, so that regular councils and assemblies appear only later, in systems like those identified with Lycurgus and Solon. In recent years scholars have returned to an older view that Homeric deliberative bodies were well enough organized to make decisions, even if leaders or dissenters could undermine these decisions. Differences between councils, on the one hand, and assemblies, on the other, have not been prominent in this scholarship. The noteworthy exception is Fabian Schulz's 2011 dissertation on parallels between Homeric councils and the Spartan Gerousia, in which he draws several comparisons between βουλαί and ἀγοραί.

Abstract:
AbstractAlexander Hamilton's notes to his reading of two pairs of Plutarch's Parallel Lives, Theseus-Romulus and Lycurgus-Numa, probably made in the winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, reveal his early attention to the rewards of founding a new state, the natures and advantages of different political institutions, and economic, social, military, and cultural practices. They furnish a valuable testament to Hamilton's early intellectual development. He focuses on monarchy and the danger of tyranny and on the institutions by which states had limited the power of monarchs and of the popular will: the senate at Rome and the gerousia and later the ephors at Sparta. Hamilton admires Numa's use of religion to nourish civil society, while his interest in the Spartans' treatment of their helots is a testimony to his early concern about the problem of slavery.

Abstract:
Abstract. Aim Important contemporary trends in the theory and functional practice of secure automated systems at informatisation facilities of internal affairs bodies include an increase in the number of threats realised through remote unauthorised access (network attacks) on confidential in-formation resources, as well as the increasing complexity of implementing mechanisms aimed at providing protection from such attacks. In order to increase the effectiveness of existing and prospective automated security systems at the informatisation facilities of internal affairs bodies, it is necessary to identify and analyse typical network attacks aimed at components and software comprising these systems.Method. The method for solving this problem consists in a comprehensive analysis of the process of implementing network attacks on automated systems when they are used in secure mode in the informatisation facilities of internal affairs bodies.Results. Based on the analysis of information held in the security threat database developed by the Russian Federal Service for Technical and Export Control (FSTEC), modern features and operations of secure automated systems on the informatisation facilities of bodies of internal affairs and the results of a survey of experts in the field of information protection of allocated in accordance with the classification typology, eight types of dan-gerous attacks on automated systems of the internal affairs bodies are described taking into account their sources, objects, effects and possible consequences of implementation.Conclusion. The presented results are of use in further studies to conduct a quantitative assessment of the danger of typical attacks and for developing a private model of actual attacks for a specific automated system, taking into account their functional features in secure mode operations at the informatisation facility of the internal affairs body.

Abstract:
The drivers receive about 90% of the information through the vision. The road illumination is high important for vision at night. A certain level of illumination is required in order for the eyes to recognize an object. When the brightness of an object is lower than the brightness of the background, or when the brightness of an obstruction is higher than the background’s brightness, objects can be recognized by silhouette. The drivers fraught with the greatest difficulties when the road illumination changes sharply in the conditions of low light driving. Traffic accidents at night are an important issue. Although the traffic volume is low (15-20%), 41-50% of traffic accidents happen at night. For the last years more attention has been paid to transport issues that can change the cognitive and emotional state of drivers. Therefore, assessing the driver’s vision may be useful in identifying a safe or dan-gerous type of behavior on the road. Eye tracking is used to measure drivers' perception of road elements, as well as developing driving strategies and accidents preventing. During the eye fixing, the driver focuses on a specific object of road environment. The time of driver’s eye fixing may vary from 0.1 to 2.5 seconds, depending on the complexity of the road traffic and the driver's functional state. The article presents an approach to determine the driver’s attention indicators at the evening twilight on city streets. The method of recording points of regard using Pupil Labs glasses was used to attention indicators deter-mination. Experimental studies of drivers' attention indicators in the evening twilight conditions were carried out in different types of city streets. The study involved drivers aged 20 to 52 years. During the driver eye fixing, the level of illumination at the evening twilight was recorded simultaneously. When the light changes from 50 lx or less, the driver feels visual fatigue from the continuous state of road objects exploration. At the same time, the number of fixations is significantly reduced, since the driver spends more time recognizing and searching of traffic elements, pedestrians, etc. Keywords: driver, twilight conditions, road traffic, attention.

Abstract:
Study Objective: To describe a new method for predicting repeat socially dan-gerous acts (SDA) by persons with organic mental disorders. Study Design: This was a comparative study. Materials and Methods: The people studied were 118 male patients with organic mental disorders who had committed SDA and were subject to involuntary medical measures, administered in outpatient or inpatient settings. These patients were divided into a main group, which was made up of 45 men who had commit-ted repeat SDA, and a comparison group, which consisted of 73 men with no history of recidivist criminal behavior in the follow-up period. The main research methods included clinical psychopathological assessments, prospective clinical follow-up (mean duration of follow-up was 8.65 ± 2.17 years), statistical analysis of clinical data, and criminological analysis. Study Results: Mathematical analysis and identification of the main correlation relationships made it possible to develop a questionnaire and a computer program for predicting the possibility of committing a repeat SDA. There are 24 input parameters. This method predicts repeat SDA in 82.9% of cases. For a sample of at least 80 people, the average predictive reliability of this method exceeds 80%, with a minimum reliability no lower than 70% in the event of random fluctuations. The study also showed that even with only one input parameter the method provides a reliable prognosis in almost 70% of cases, and beginning at 23 input parameters its prognostic reliability exceeds 80% and increases with in-crease of the number of input characteristics. Conclusion: The authors have developed a tool for predicting a repeat SDA, and its characteristics, using the pattern proximity method. This tool can be used for patients with any type of disorder. Further multifactorial evaluation of the causes of both initial and repeat SDA in patients with mental disorders provides information for assessing the possibility of predicting such actions. This study gives us a practical data-assessment tool, which can be widely used at any stage of preventive measures against socially dangerous behavior by patients with mental disorders. Keywords: socially dangerous act, organic mental disorders, prognostic methodology.

Abstract:
Pantanal colds, Brazil: Occurrence of general, intense cases and synoptic analysis of the event A B S T R A C TIn the Pantanal, the occurrence of friagem often causes economic and social damages, but few studies have investigated the phenomenon in the region. Therefore, the objective of this study was to characterize the general and intense cases of friary events in the Pantanal region between 2007 and 2014, and to characterize the synoptic environment of the most intense cold event. For that, data of Climanálise bulletins, air temperature of the city of Coxim-MS and reanalysis of MERRA-2 were used. There were 72 friar events of the general cases and 27 intense cases, the highest frequency being the year of 2010 and the months of August for the gerous cases; and 2010 and 2013 and July and August for intense cases. There were 9 friagens.ano-1 for general chaos and 3,3 friagens.ano-1 in intense cases. Abstract:
In various cities throughout Asia Minor, associations called gerousiai existed under the Roman Empire. These groups are most easily studied from the inscriptions which have been excavated and published for each city; in fact, epigraphic evidence is often the only source which sheds light on the nature of any particular gerousia. It has been customary to divide the gerousia as an institution into two groups: the Asiatic gerousia, namely the gerousiai of the Roman provinces of Asia Minor, and the Doric gerousia, which is most well known from the board of twenty-eight elders who advised the kings of Sparta. The initial purpose of this study was to examine the Asiatic gerousiai in order to determine the position of these bodies in their cities, particularly with respect to the boule and demos of those cities. It quickly became apparent from the quantity of available inscriptions, however, that such a topic was somewhat too large for a mere dissertation. I have chosen, therefore, to limit myself to the Ionian city of Ephesus (modern Selçuk). The intensive focus on the Ephesian gerousia allows a greater degree of detail than would have been permitted in a more general study of similar size. The abundance of evidence for this city has made it possible to draw conclusions about several aspects of a single gerousia without introducing the assumption, implicit or explicit, that all Asiatic gerousiai were the same. This is a study of the gerousia of the Ephesus and does not purport to make any conclusions about a general Asiatic gerousia. The large number of inscriptions from Ephesus available for this study also offers a further advantage, as I hope will emerge in the following pages: we cannot speak of a "Hellenistic gerousia" and a "Roman gerousia " as two distinct entities. Certainly there was a gerousia in Hellenistic period and one in the Roman period, and the terms Hellenistic gerousia and Roman gerousia may well be used in the course of this work, but not as archetypes.
