Günter Kunert (6 de marzo, 1929, Berlín) es un escritor nacido en la República Democrática de Alemania, donde pasa buena parte de su vida hasta que en 1979 se traslada definitivamente a la Alemania Occidental. De madre judía, tuvo que interrumpir sus estudios debido a la Rassengesetze (Ley racial) impuesta en 1935 por el régimen nacionalsocialista. Debido a estas medidas propias de la ideología antisemita, en 1939 es declarado Wehrunwürdig.[1] En 1943 se emplea durante un tiempo como aprendiz en el comercio textil. Finalizada la Segunda Guerra Mundial, en 1946 accede a la Universidad de Artes
