Dutrévis, Marion. "Statut social et réputations d'infériorité intellectuelle : quand la gestion de l'image de soi altère la performance." Clermont-Ferrand 2, 2004. http://www.theses.fr/2004CLF20002.
Full textThe purpose of this work was to contribute to the explanation of achievement differences between social groups. Several studies have revealed that the reputations of intellectual inferiority that usually target stigmatized group members can alter their cognitive functioning (i. E. Stereotype threat hypothesis, Steele, 1997). Though research has repeatedly demonstrated that the performance of low status group members, (e. G. Blacks in the United states or women) can be disrupted by stereotypes alleging intellectual inferiority when they are made salient, very little id known about the process underlying this pehnomenon. We hypotesized that the suspicion of lower ability faced by low status group members in evalutive settings can lead them to focus on the self-evalutation implications of a potential low performance. This focalization in turns would generate sel-regulation demands that would disrupt performance on the main task. Our first study shows that evaluative situations affect stigmatized individuals' self-esteem and motivation. Moreover, when these individuals have the opportunity to affirm positive aspects of the self, their performance increases (studies 2, 3 and 4). In other words and in accordance with our hypothesis, stereotype threat appears to involve some self-regulation. However studies 5 and 6 did not allow us to determine if individuals's focus on negative self-knowledge iduces a self-regulation activity interfering with performance. Nevertheless, our work suggests that self-image devaluation generated by negative stereotypes applicability in testing situations is responsible for stereotype threat effects. Further research we review and discuss reveals that, when intellectual abilities are not perceived as fixed anymore, or when some low status individuals invalidate negative sterotypes of their group, members of these stigmatized groups perform better in evaluative situations

Full textThis research analyze the subject's interstructuration within the soccer training centre institution. The interest is the validation of new scales adapted to the population and the study of the interaction between the institutional framework and the soccer player's self-esteem, stress, coping stategies during his training period. This problematic is dealt in a transversal way involving 190 soccers of 15 to 19 years. In addition, we carried out a longitudinal analysis over the three years of training with 48 of theses training players. Our results show that the institutional decisions are in relation to soccer self-esteem developed by the teenager. Those feelings of personal value are decisive in the evaluation of the stressors, stress and the coping strategies. The improvement of the player's self-esteem brings a less significant perception of the stress and supports the use of the social support and control strategies. On another hand, a degradation of the institutional decisions associated with an increase in the perceived stress leads the teenager to stand back and to seek other activities

Full textFollowing the path of their life, the drug addicts live the chaos; they fail to see the end of the tunnel. They don’t know how to think in a constructive way, to take advantages of opportunities and to develop plans well determined to be achieved. The adoption of the drug addicts self-management can help to develop his capacity of observation, reflection, analysis, self-control… Regarding the obtained results, we note the followings observations: 1. The drug addicts show more cognitive difficulties than the non addicts. 2. The addicts show less self satisfaction than non addicts. 3. The drug addicts show a much more positive emotional stability than non addicts. 4. The drug addicts show as well a more negative and developed emotional stability than non addicts. The self-management helps the drug addicts to integrate the pleasure in the relationships as it may help to apply the acquired qualities and to prepare new experiences

Full textThis thesis addresses the inflation of the narcissist reflexivity within the professional arena. This phenomenon is identified through the growth of personal development or coaching practices. The current success of these practices builds on their ability to respond to the growing social need for self-interpretation, while at the same time responding to the organizational needs in terms of the human factor. Through this ability to build conciliation between individuals and the organization, they participate in managerial practices. They rely on psychological "engineering" which, based on the syncretism of the humanistic tradition and behaviourisrn, trims the issue of power and places the subject within processes for the adaptation of identity. Within managerial organizations, practices of professional reflexivity are embedded into renewed regulation processes. They soften in appearance the practice of power, and convey an ideology of identity adaptation in the face of growing expectations at the workplace. This ideology produces mediation between logics : the logic of "self being" and "being together," holding on humanistic values ; and economical logic, holding on instrumental rationality. But this mediation is operating at the price of re-integration of values as a means of serving a finality based on performance

Full textThe practice of sports by women in the traditional masculine framework often results in misconceptions leading to homophobic discrimination. This manifestation of homophobia is considered to be discrimination not only against lesbians, but also against all women who practice sport, whatever their sexual orientation. During interviews with female players of handball, football and rugby, the existence of stereotypes and negative perceptions were confirmed. As a result, a study of how to respond to the negative perceptions is underway

Full textThe identity of fishermen from martinique is maritime, territory and creole. The social context, inherited from slavery, colonization and from the status of overseas region of france, is built on a rigid social-racial hierarchy, at the bottom of wich are the fishermen. Their world relies on two values. The first one is personnal freedom and success. The second value promotes the idea of a necessary equality amongst individuals. The contradiction between these two moral values generates a strong individualism, resulting from a logic based on social advancement. The ritual combining magic and religion as well sorcery are the expression of the social interactions, a source of conflits and solidarity as well. The coastal communities are actually submitted to a very strong social control. The territory is very well socially structured, with a grouped settlement wich submits each person to the control of people. This social control is counterbalanced by a scattered pattern of work relationships, with limited exchanges. Facing this collective contraint, the individual rejects every thing linked to a status restricting his autonomy, and leans toward pratices wich favor social advancement, disregarding others. The fishing rituals facilate this social advancement, becoming better fisherman than others and protecting himself from their envy. Otherness is dangerous and generates suspicion and jalousy. Therefore, the privatization maintains a social concensus in order to protect oneself from others. The "social imaginary" of the fishermen is built on pratices and institutions connected to a "system of interpretation" which refers to evil and fate

Full textWith the exponential growth of the embedded systems and the so-called IoT objects, the need of reducing power consumption for environmental and economic considerations requires better power-saving techniques without compromising circuit performances. However, CMOS transistors are achieving their physical limits in terms of scaling and the opportunities to enhance the integrated circuit will be more on the design side than on the technology side. Thereto, it is noticeable that complex digital circuits spent a significant amount of energy during idle periods and tend to activate much more blocks than needed. This drawback results from the usage of the synchronous paradigm. Asynchronous circuits provide intrinsic and local signals that mitigate the unnecessary block activation in circuits and offers an intrinsic idle mode. Moreover, these signals are usable to locally manage body-bias voltages in Fully Depleted Silicon On Insulator (FD-SOI) in order to save power. This thesis proposes a design strategy dedicated to asynchronous circuits exploiting the body-biasing facilities of the FD-SOI technology. Firstly, an analysis of the FD-SOI technology has been made in order to analyze the new degrees of freedom offered to the designers by mainly controlling the transistor threshold voltage (Vth) thanks to body-biasing effect. This latter is indeed able to change the transistor speed and power consumption. Secondly, a body-biasing standard cell based on a level shifter architecture has been designed in order to locally adapt the body-biasing voltage. Thirdly, we proposed a distributed activity-driven strategy easily managing a large number of Body-Biasing Domains (BBDs). Lastly, the aforementioned techniques have been implemented and tested in a chip designed in 28 nm FD-SOI technology from STMicroelectronics

Full textThis master’s thesis concerns type 2 diabetes self-management strategies developed by the women of Reunion Island. Our research was conducted in the French Overseas Department where 15 % of adults are affected by this disease. We were inspired by the model described by Kleinman et al. (1978) and Young (1982) on the three dimensions of the disease, namely disease / illness / sickness, further developed by Massé (1995), to understand how women managed to cope with diabetes in their social and family environment. Data for the analysis was collected using individual interviews as well as one focus group. The women who succeeded in managing their diabetes more efficiently are the ones who managed to create a sphere of negotiation between medical advice and their life context. We first describe the reality of women through their culture, roles and obligations. The medical recommendations are then presented which, considering the biological dimension of the disease (disease), are often disembodied from what women live. Finally, we see how using lay knowledge, which can be described as an interpretation of medical, alternative and popular discourses, as well as one’s own experiences, helped these women to successfully develop strategies to negotiate between their everyday lives and the constraints of the disease. Some facilitators of the negotiation process are also identified. Those people that have found the means to adapt to the disease could potentially be involved in the development of intervention processes based on lay knowledge which would be better adapted to the reality of diabetic people living in Reunion Island, where this disease is on the rise.

Full textThis study was designed to determine the role of an exposure to language at an early age on the management of social relationships in adolescence, considered at two levels: perception of self and underlying psychodynamic aspects. This study was conducted by means of a comparison of 200 adolescents suffering from a congenital deafness to 200 hearing adolescents, boys and girls between 10 and 15 years old. Self perception was assessed using a self administered questionnaire including 60 items pertaining to human relationships in various contexts, whereas the psychodynamic aspects were explored using a projective technique, the village test, which was analyzed by means of a specifically designed scale of indicators. Data processing consisted of, on the one hand, a thematic comparison of the two populations and the elaboration of typologies, on the other hand, an analysis of the correlations between the types of self perception and the underlying psychodynamic structure. The findings lead to consider a double role of language: a support for the acquisition of the control on impulsivity and a support for the separation-individuation process. Practical implications of these results include interventions, at an individual or collective level, upstream or downstream of the development of social skills

Full textBeyond 28nm CMOS BULK technology node, some limits have been reached in terms of performance improvements. This is mainly due to the increasing power consumption. This is one of the reasons why new technologies have been developed, including those based on Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI). Moreover, the standardization of complex architectures such as multi-core architectures emphasizes the problem of power management at fine-grain. FD-SOI technologies offer new power management opportunities by adjusting, in addition to the usual parameters such as supply voltage and clock frequency, the body bias voltage. In this context, this work explores new opportunities and searches novel solutions for dynamically manage supply voltage, clock frequency and body bias voltage in order to optimize the power consumption of System on Chip.Adjusting supply voltage, frequency and body bias parameters allows multiple operating points, which must satisfy the constraints of functionality and performance. This work focuses initially at design time, proposing a method to optimize the placement of these operating points. An analytical solution to maximize power savings achieved through the use of several operating points is provided. The second important contribution of this work is a method based on convexity concept to dynamically manage the supply voltage, the frequency and the body bias voltage so as to optimize the energy efficiency. The experimental results based on real circuits show average power savings reaching 35%

Full textIvorian rural areas, particularly those in the centre and the west - like the Bété land, where I conducted my field works - have a notable feature: they host more migrants than they provide, and these migrants are mostly young people. Since the late 1970s, the country has been marked by a strong migratory process known as "return to the land", which is often only a return to the village. Today, it concerns young indigenous peoples of the forest zone, who come to settle in their paternal villages with the hope of a better life for some, or as a solution of second-best for others. This migratory process is generally interpreted as a consequence of urban precariousness and as one of the causes of the aggravation of the socio-land crisis in the country This PhD thesis offers a different perspective on this phenomenon by apprehending it under the way of the economic and political dynamics provoked by these young people. They carrying an ideology of "modernity", as they seek to emancipate themselves from their elders and to create new forms of solidarity. These ambitions are accompanied by two concomitant processes whose analysis constitutes the heart of this work: the empowerment of youth as a political category on the one hand and the individualisation of certain young people within this category on the other hand. This PhD thesis thus sheds light on two processes rarely analysed in the villages, while they are well documented in urban area. It thus provides insights into the contemporary changes in rural areas in Côte d'Ivoire
Ito, Aï. "L'ouverture de soi d'un leader sur une perte traumatique - 'Ouvrez votre kimono et je vous suivrai'." Thesis, Reims, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020REIML008.
Full textThis dissertation examines the role of leader self-disclosure of traumatic loss at the metalevel of leadership (i.e., the impact of leadership on large social systems). Sharing publicly this universal experience creates a surprising effect in the eyes of followers and thus fosters follower perceptions of charisma toward the leader. A speech using this verbal tactic engenders follower perceptions of charisma and associated variables (i.e., follower perceptions of leader affect, leader trust, leader competence and leader ability to influence) compared to a speech not using it. Moreover, this effect should be stronger for female leaders than for male leaders, thereby illustrating a situation where being a female leader is advantageous. Chapter 1 presents the introductory part. Chapter 2 constitutes the literature review of this dissertation. Chapter 3 establishes the theoretical frameworks used and hypotheses. Chapters 4 to 8 examine the effect of leader self-disclosure on perceptions of charisma and related outcomes: a series of between-subjects laboratory experiments of Master students, compares a leader self-disclosure condition group and control group. The influence of follower sex and leader gender are also manipulated. Overall, the results support the idea that the use of public self-disclosure of traumatic loss evokes powerful influence on perceptions of charisma and its related outcomes, and this effect is more prevalent for female leaders than for male leaders

Full textThis research focuses on requests for help from undergraduate students attending an online course. Specifically, the links of these with self-regulation are studied. Indeed, although asking for help when a difficulty is encountered promotes learning (Nelson-Le Gall, 1981; Puustinen, 2013), few studies on this learning strategy in an online course have been conducted (Koc et Liu, 2016; Puustinen, 2012). Therefore, this thesis aims to better understand requests for help in the context of online courses and pursues the following three specific objectives: 1) Describe requests for help from undergraduate students in an online course; 2) Compare students' requests for help with their declared strategies regarding self-regulation of cognition and behavior; 3) Adapt the model of help-seeking of Puustinen (2013) to undergraduate students in an online course. This descriptive and exploratory research is based on a mixed methodology to collect the declared strategies but also the actual practices of students. Thus, 116 undergraduate students at Laval University who were taking an online course agreed to participate in the research. The online questionnaires they responded to, the e-mails and forum posts they sent, and the meta-data tracking their usage of the learning environment platform were analyzed. The results of the study showed that, overall, students routinely self-regulate regarding their cognition and behavior. Traces of this self-regulation could be detected in their help request messages. This study also revealed that most students did not ask for help, neither by email nor on the discussion forums. The reasons for this behavior could not be identified, but possible explanations are proposed. In addition, several self-regulatory indicators from the Puustinen (2013) model were validated. Additional indicators, not present in Puustinen's research, were added in order to adapt to our context.

Full textEnergy efficiency has become a key metric for digital SoC, especially for applications relying on batteries or energy harvesting. Hence, this work proposes new designs for on-chip flexible clock generator, power monitor and temperature sensor as well as the integration of those blocks within complete SoC.The novel open-loop clock multiplier architecture enables fast frequency scaling and is implemented to operate on the same voltage-frequency range as a digital core ((53MHz 0.5V - 889MHz 0.9 V). The achieved extremely low area (981µm2) and power consumption 0.45pJ/cycle 0.5 V) also ease its integration within low power SoC. The proposed power monitor instruments switched capacitor DC-DC converters, which are standard components of low voltage SoCs. The monitor has been demonstrated over two different converters topologies and provides a measurement of both the converter input and output power within 2.5% to 6% accuracy. Last, a new principle of temperature sensor is proposed. It leverages single n well body-biasing for calibration and integrated digital logic for large non-linearity correction. It is expected to achieve within 1C accuracy 0.1nJ / sample and 225 µm2 probe area. Then, this work illustrates how those circuits can be integrated within complex SoCs power management strategies. First, a modeling study of body biasing highlights the benefits it can provide in complement to voltage scaling, accounting for a wide temperature range. Last, three example of power management are proposed at SoC level

Full textThis thesis deals with the design and testing of the first self-adaptive nanoscale CMOS circuits dedicated to automotive, avionics and aerospace applications, under high stress environment because they are subject to the trade-off between speed (performance), consumption (Low Power) and aging (Wearout). Innovative solutions have been developed with dynamic control loops to optimize the consumption of the various elements (design level) and blocks (system), while ensuring their smooth operation. Validation of solutions has been achieved step by step in the design chain, focusing first on the development of a first demonstrator in 40nm CMOS (M40) technology for automotive applications from STMicroelectronics. Various ways of anticipating errors were compared by retaining the IS2M (adjustable time window) delay detection in critical paths as the most efficient for optimization solutions. A theoretical modeling of the control loops has resulted in a simulation tool based on time discrete Markov chains (DTMC). This modeling was successfully confronted with silicon measurements demonstrating that the solutions selected offered a reduction in the power consumed by 2 with equal performance and reliability. In the last part, the high-level hierarchical modeling was applied on several systems / products of 28nm FDSOI CMOS nodes (28FD), in order to validate the relevance of the dynamic adaptation (D-ABB) in supply and face voltages. (VDD, VB). This allowed to prove the validity of the complete methodology by arriving at the precise statistical prediction of the reliability integrating the whole performance-consumption value chain using the advanced simulations

Full textThe history of the French shopping centers reveals the hegemonic character of the rationality which presses on their spatial, trade and economic organization. Their economic model is one of mass consumption. The shops and services which they shelter cannot escape it so that a sociology of work which takes them for object cannot ignore the industrial character of their work organization. The biographical interviews and observations conducted in the different shops of a large French shopping center remind it. These establishments share the same organizational basis articulating deskilling of work and rationalization of the working time. These precepts continually reconfigure the activity of employees who are witnessing the transformation of their job, the decrease of their autonomy or the impoverishment and the intensification of their work. It is in the light of these evolutions that one can understand the toughness of a work they can no longer dominate. The means provided to them are no longer adequate to contain the flows of customers and goods or to maintain the cordiality of their exchanges with the customers. The urgency is spreading and overflow situations are increasing, which generates exhaustion and stress. These disadvantages are manifested mainly in the private sphere and in a way which varies according to the social situation of the employees. However, beyond these disparities, they all show a concern about the future of their work, the meaning and the position that it gives them around the feeling, widely shared, that it has become dehumanized

Full textHybrid vehicles are developing with increasing use of energy storage elements based on lithium-ion battery. In this context, the use of battery is atypical and highly dependent on energy allocation strategies within the vehicle. Among these vehicles, the mild hybrid category retains heat engine for the autonomy that offer and adds to it an electric machine associated with a reversible storage system, to allow the kinetic energy recovery of the vehicle. The object of this work involves the development of algorithms for determining the states of charge (SoC) and health (SoH) and function (SoF) of each cell that compose a lithium-ion battery pack. These features are implemented in a Battery Management System (BMS) for industrial production. In order to reduce production costs, our work attempts to limit the computing power and the measuring sensors necessary for these states determination. From battery measurements in a "mild hybrid" use, developed methods allow the states determination, as well as some of the internal parameters of cells. This application is characterized by high currents and maintaining a SoC of around 50%, in order to maximize the availability of the battery and to minimize aging. The use of observers and estimators, using a simplified model cell, allows us to achieve satisfactory results with a reduced computing power

Full textThis dissertation focuses on CEO’s overconfidence and analyze its effects on accounting and financial decisions. After having defined the outlines of this bias, we conduct a literature review on the CEO’s overconfidence and its effects for firms. Research offers mixed conclusions about these effects. To test the impacts of this bias, we set up an original database and analyze the behaviour of CEO’s of SBF-120 over the 2006-2016 period. We show that CEOs’ overconfidence affects the investment cash-flow sensitivity as well as earnings management. An original contribution of this research is to show that effective governance mechanisms can mitigate the effects of the bias or, on the contrary, encourage them, according to the motives of the controlling shareholder. We also show the fact that the CEO’s belonging to the controlling family modifies the expression of one’s bias

Full textAccording to a common opinion held in Western countries, the Instituted Sport would be a school of learning, sense of community, solidarity, sharing and rules of life; in short, it will socialize young people by integrating them into society. This research draws our attention to the forms of socialization that Lebanese society offers to “athletes”. If the act of thinking about sport first, as a non-political and, secondly, as a passion shared by all of the youth did not start today, this question reads differently in Lebanon, a country that has suffered from internal and regional conflicts for over 500 years. Politically and socially organized in ‘’community’’, Lebanon offer thereby a faith-based political model that permeates daily life, including the sports world. Each community is governed by a specific authority, ruled by its institutions and submitted to a court composed of independent members from the religious hierarchy, in which the state has recognized the jurisdiction to enforce its laws and customs. Tested in the field, the finding is yet to put into perspective. The survey reveals that the communal cleavages deeply affect the management bodies of sports federations and cause a religious breakdown in the management of committees. However, in sport as in other area of social life, the community is never “pure” and there are also inter-community coalitions in order to gain the sport’s power. Starting from a macro-sociological approach, the thesis propose to study the communal consolidation in the associative sport through two monographs club conducted in Beirut in order to analyze the sectarian dynamic: le Riyadi (Sporting club), a Muslim religious ruling, and for Christians, La Sagesse club. Sociological analysis shows two micro societies that practice sport in “between the self” format, but at the same time, have an opening at the inter-communal stage

Full textThe international trade evolution and the growth of intercontinental commercial exchanges have created an ongoing need for goods’ transport. In this context, maritime transport knew an enormous craze due to its efficiency for shipping large quantities of goods. This mode of transport has been revolutionized by the introduction of containers and the development of new multimodal platforms specialized in container handling: Container Terminals (CT). These CTs are subject to a set of constraints and requirements that must be satisfied in terms of efficiency, safety, and dependability. This thesis aims to manage the risks related to containers transport in a CT taking into account the collaborative aspect of the supply chain and the activities carried out before the containers’ delivery. Furthermore, it tackles reconciliation of the risk management aspect and performance aspect in CT. The implementation is based on a multi-paradigm approach for the urbanization of GOST traceability system (Geo-localization, Optimization, Securing, and Transport) and the development of a Container Terminal Management System (CTMS). For the risk management related to containers transport, we proposed a tracking and tracing solution based on the urbanization of GOST system, intelligent product concept and service-oriented architectures. This solution aims to improve the collection of information needed for risk management, which are provided by the supply chain actors. For this purpose, first of all, we propose an urbanization of the GOST system to fit t risk management requirements. In a second step, we define an improved intelligent product concept to develop an appropriate intelligent container model. Finally, we used the model driven architectures to automate code generation of web services needed to collect traceability data. For this purpose, two approaches for interfacing the intelligent container to different web services have been proposed. The first is based on services orchestration using business process. The second is founded on the configuration of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). All these solutions are integrated in the CTMS system. This system is developed using the Agent technology and aims to integrate risk management approach and the evaluation of the CT performance. Our risk management approach is based on two processes. The first deals with the suspicious containers targeting and it is based on an expert system enriched by a forced learning method: the Apriori algorithm. The second supports the verification of spatial segregation during storage. Finally, a case study was carried out to validate the proposed solution as well as a simulation to evaluate the performance

Full textAccess control for shared services is an essential requirement for a federation of services from different domains. In this thesis, we tackled two access control problems : authorizing users and delegating user authentication to their own domains. To address these problems, we have proposed a method of authorizing users based on the attribute mapping technique and a federated access control mechanism to implement this authorization method. We have proposed a service federation method to delegate user authentication to their domains. The main objective is to allow various domains to collaborate despite the heterogeneity of their security models

Full textIn comparison to conventional smart meters, NIALM (Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring) is an innovative technology because it can monitor power usage on individual appliances in an electrical network using only one sensing node. Thus, setting up and maintaining the system is very simple because of the few of hardware elements. In contrast, the software of NIALM is often very complex and there is still the need in developing more complex algorithms to classify appliances more accurately. These complex algorithms of NIALM require to run on a powerful and expensive hardware platform. In order to overcome this problem, the first contribution of this thesis is to propose a low cost real-time innovative NIALM system to solve some limits of NIALM design by extracting more electrical signatures, detecting slow transition and multi-state appliances, and energy disaggregation in real-time. This is possible by using two new algorithms: CUSUM event detection algorithm and disaggregation based on Genetic Algorithm. Similar to complex DSP systems, a NIALM system contains both event control processes and data streaming processes. The second important contribution of this research is to propose a methodology based on RPN model (Reactive Process Network) to develop a complex NIALM system in SoC with FPGA acceleration. Such SoC allows running data streaming processes with complex algorithms and hard timing constraints in parallel in FPGA while other processes can run in processors. The advantages of our methodology are the ability to develop an executable specification to proceed to architecture exploration, and prototype the NIALM system quickly using the same application model

Full textThis research in ergonomics addresses the "taking care" dimension of work. It deals with the cooperative processes involved in healthcare production, and more particularly with supporting the workflow in radiotherapy. The research takes place within an industrial innovation project aiming at developing a workflow software. Radiotherapy is a treatment against cancer by the administration of ionizing radiation. This type of treatment is produced by a transverse collective in a multi-step process with cooperation requirements. The objective of this thesis is to better understand the “taking care” dimension of work by analyzing workflow management. Systematic observations in four French radiotherapy services have allowed the modelling of Workflow Management Devices (WMD) in nominal situations. In a radiotherapy center, 32 interviews were conducted with professionals, by using a restitution of the local WMD composed by traces of activity. This helped to understand the professionals’ activity in exceptional situations (non nominal). The results highlight a “tailored”, “semioticized” physical environment, that supports the collective workflow management in order to ensure a safe and efficient treatment and to “take care” of the articulation work. This environment supports the normative model of the radiotherapy process. Furthermore, in exceptional situations, emerging regulation strategies help to produce safe and efficient treatments and to take care of the patient, the work of colleagues and of one’s own work. The impact of our work concerns the development of workflow processes and tools and the conceptualization of quality in healthcare. Healthcare quality integrates the safety and effectiveness of treatments (cure) as well as the “taking care”, not only of patients, but of cooperative and collective work. Finally, this research helps in conceptualizing that “taking care” of cooperative work is to be considered as an additional dimension of the quality of individual and collective work

Full textThis thesis examines the process of institutionalization of management expertise in the field of public psychiatry through the implementation of a standardized information system (RIM-P) which is intended to allow a detailed description of the care activity. The study that we propose is twofold. On the one hand, we will attempt to define the conditions in which the system is able to invest the functioning of psychiatric sectors. On the other hand, we propose to consider the forms of collective mobilization deployed by actors in these organizations in order to deal with the imposition of a new regulatory system. By reconstructing the process of imposition of the RIM-P, we show how it contributes to intruding on the logic of performance and instrumental rationality for economic and financial purposes within healthcare institutions. We then show that hybridization between medical knowledge and management is a prerequisite for its implementation. Then, from an observational survey, we report on the use by official rationalizers and caregivers of this standardized information system. We reveal highly diversified situations depending on the institution which are linked to their ability to implement a "techno structure" whose legitimacy rests on the mastery of complex management systems dedicated to the coordination and control of healthcare work. Finally, we show the strength of the critical action of caregivers and how alternative management can be established which is more in line with the professional experience of the different categories of actors

Full textIn this thesis we discuss the application of risk management to distributed information systems. We handle problems of interoperability and securisation of the exchanges within DRM systems and we propose the implementation of this system for the company: it needs to permit the distribution of self-protected contents. We then present the (our) participation in the creation of an innovative company which emphasizes on the security of information, in particular the management of risks through the ISO/IEC 27005:2011 standard. We present risks related to the use of services, highlighting in particular the ones which are not technological: we approach inheritent risks in clouds (provider failure, etc ...) but also the more insidious aspects of espionage and intrusion in personal data (Case PRISM in June 2013). In the last section, we present a concept of a DRM company which uses metadata to deploy settings in usage control models. We propose a draft formalization of metadata necessary for the implementation of a security policy and guarantee respect of regulations and legislation

Full textThe business model of cloud computing, especially in its application layer of services SaaS, has evolved into a new approach based on the exploitation of scale economies. This could be done by offering at the same time a unique application instance to several customers called tenants, following the multi-tenancy principle. The objective of this principle at the application level is to reduce the operating costs of the proposed service and to capitalize on the cumulative experience throught its sharing. However, the implementation of such principle requires addressing a number of challenges realted to its organizational structure, in which each tenant must have the feeling of using a fully ded- icated application for his usage. This implies a dynamic management of variability in tenants needs and a strict isolation of their data. In this dissertation, we focus on the principle of multi-tenancy and the main challenges arising before proposing our contributions. These can be summarized in three axes: (i) the first is the specification of a variability meta-model introducing new modeling concepts to better address the variability and outsource its management as a service. For this, we have intro- duced the concept of VaaS (Variability as a Service) as a new member of the Cloud services family. (ii) The second axis is to extend the management outsourcing policy, initially adopted to manage the variability, in order to apply it at the data level by providing a data isolation system as a service. The main advantage of such system is to isolate tenants data in an almost transparent way to developers, without introducing major changes to the architectures of existing applications. (iii) The last axis concerns the combination of the first two contributions and other related services to the administra- tion and security of multi-tenant applications in a dedicated platform, towards a holistic approach of multi-tenancy management by outsourcing

Full textRecent developments in the field of low voltage integrated circuits (IC) have paved the way towards energy efficient electronic devices in a booming global network called the internet-of-things (IoT) or the internet-of-everything (IoE). However, the sustainability of all these inter- connected sensors is still undermined by the constant need for either an on-board battery – that must be recharged or replaced – or an energy harvester with very limited power efficiency. The power consumption of present consumer electronic systems is fifty times higher than the energy available by cm 2-size harvester or limited to a few months on a small battery, thus hardly viable for lifetime solutions. Upcoming systems-on-chip (SoCs) must overcome the challenge of this energy gap by architecture optimizations from technology to system level. The technical approach of this work aims to demonstrate the feasibility of an efficient ultra-low-voltage (ULV) and ultra-low-power (ULP) SoC using exclusively latest industrial guidelines in 28 nm and 22 nm fully depleted silicon on insulator (FD-SOI) technologies. Several multi-power-domain SoCs based on ARM cores are implemented to demonstrate wake up strategies based on sensors inputs. By optimizing the system architecture, properly selecting and designing compo- nents with technology features chosen adequately, carefully tuning the implementation, a fully energy-optimized SoC is realized

The theme management under a holistic point of view arose from an article published in the september-october 2000 issue of HSM Management Magazine. The article dealt with a new paradigm for managing employees which emphasizes the search for their well-being, where many companies are being obliged to review their human resource policies in order to focus on the three dimensions of the individual: body, mind and spirit. According to the report, the research from Pricewaterhouse-Coopers, Universum and others organizations shows that the balance between word and life is not mirely a demand on the part of present employees, but also one of the main priorities of the new work force coming from Universities the world over. The intense struggle to attract high leveI employees will place companies with :-~ more holistic orientation a step above their competitors. For these companies satisfying the real individual needs of their employees represents a new paradigm in their way of managing business. What changed is the perception that the human being is a primordial factor in competition and is no longer simply raw-material. A tendency in the workmarket began to put the hurnan being at the center, the focus of the relationship. Although this concept appears to be far form the brazilian reality, because of the distance between theory and practice. management model that considers the employee as an integral being, examples now exist of companies that are adopting this principIe. The need for balance between physical, mental. emotional and spiritual aspects in order to be happy cause people to overcome their fear of the unknown and advance with determination toward seIf deveIopment. This study analyzes the use of practices management from a holistic point of view in two different companies. The results show that a holistic treatment is not utopic, but rather represent a challenge for organizations managers who, in arder to achieve this practice successfulIy, need more than implement them. They should adopt them as a philosophy of life. incorporating these concepts into their vaIues and world view. The daily practice ofthe holistic management model needs to begin with CEO to make possible a real transformation from a traditional organization culture to a holistic organization culture possible. The consequence brings an improvement to the econornic financiaI resuIts of the company. In the other hand, we observe the lirnitations in the use of this management model on the part of employees as welI as on the part of executives. Regarding the employees, not alI of them are prepared to accept new responsibilities ar prepared for personal development through seI f knowledge. The beliefs acquired during the educational period, at home or in school, as well as their recent professional experiences, may inhibit the discovering of new possibilities, until they feel compeled to face new knowledge in arder to maintain their competitiveness. Since it is a reIative new management model, not scientifically proven, together wih the difficulty in measuring results objectively and the demand of achieving the goals on a short term, the executives make a priority of administration by goals, because they feel more comfortable about the certainty of getting economic and financiaI results in a short termo They forget however its disasters effects on organization environment which are goingo compromising results on de medi um and long term, whether by the generallack of motivation where employees work under pressure. In tum, many 'entrepreneurs' are beginning to work with the help oftherapists, philosophies and psicologists, first to simulate their own self knowledge, so that they can later implant this new way of seeing the world in their respective companies.

Full textHumanity has always had a close relationship with marine and coastal environments. The coastal zone is one of the most complex areas of management in the world consisting of both the marine and terrestrial environments. Marine and coastal ecosystems are economically and culturally important for many countries, especially for people living near coastlines (40% of the world’s population living within 100 km of the sea). It is also a home for an increasing number of activities, rights and interests. Population along the coastline is continuously increasing, bringing about anthropogenic pressures on the fragile ecosystem of the coastal zone. The need to manage the dynamic environment, the inability to integrate marine and land based spatial information is an increasing problem in many regions. Sustainable development of the coastal zone is impossible without spatial data. The absence of a holistic approach prevents the sustainable development of land – marine interface where so much pressure and the development is taking place. Currently, the most SDI initiatives stopping at the land-ward or marine-ward boundary of the coastline, institutionally and/or spatially. SDI design is focused mainly on access to and use of land related datasets or marine related datasets thus leading to data duplication. Consequently, there is a lack of harmonised and universal access to datasets from marine, coastal and land-based. This leads to the creation of inconsistencies in spatial information policies, data creation, data access, and data integration. A Spatial Data Infrastructure for Integrated Costal and Marine Management (SDI-ICMM) covering the land and marine environments on a holistic platform would facilitate greater access to more interoperable spatial data and information across the land-marine interface enabling a more integrated to the management of the coastal zone. SDI-ICMM leads to the promotion of data sharing and communication between organisations thus facilitating better decision-making involving marine and coastal spatial information. The development of an SDI-ICMM model and implementation guidelines has built on the investigation of theory and practice in regards to SDI developments throughout the world. A case study (Gulf of Gabes in Tunisia) has been used to test model and to assist in validating the results. The case study demonstrated the difficulties of integrating terrestrial, coastal and marine data and the need for an SDI-ICMM. The results are an SDI-ICMM model and implementation guidelines that covers both land and marine environments and can be used by stakeholders in the coastal zone to create an enabling platform for the use and delivery of services and spatial information and therefore to facilitate decision-making.
