Ghosts haunt Christina Rossetti's poetry. Amidst the lyrics, devotional poems, and children's verse, poems about ghosts and hauntings recur as material evidence of Rossetti's fascination with spectral presences. That fascination poses a particular interpretive puzzle in light of her religious convictions and piety. We might be tempted to identify the recurring ghosts as just another nineteenth-century flirtation with spiritualism – the spiritualism by which her brothers William and Gabriel were intrigued, attending séances and testing the validity of communications from the dead. The inception and growth of Ontario’s ghost tours are showcased, highlighting their blend of history, culture, and the supernatural. Through the pioneering efforts of Glen Shackleton, Danielle Urquhart, and Kyle Upton, who each brought unique innovations to the field, these tours have evolved from niche activities to popular cultural experiences. The influence of technology and media, particularly reality television, on public interest is analyzed, along with the operational challenges in maintaining these immersive experiences. The tours play a crucial role in preserving and promoting local h

This article studies the cultural and historical critiques that the 2019 graphic novel Ghost River issues toward the dominant narrative and documentation of two colonial massacres of Conestoga Native Americans in 1763 Pennsylvania. The analysis pays close attention to the form and function of the graphic novel—a valuable and unique vehicle for cultural expression and historical revision. A particular focus is Ghost River’s engagement with concepts of the archive: archival bias, archival access, archival inclusion and exclusion, and the lifecycles of archival documents. Lentinula edodes logs are susceptible to sundry bacteria contamination during the culture process, and the manual identification of contaminated logs is difficult, untimely, and inaccurate. Aiming to solve this problem, this paper proposes a method for the identification of contaminated Lentinula edodes logs based on the deep learning model Ghost–YOLOv4. Firstly, a data set of Lentinula edodes log sundry bacteria contamination was constructed. Secondly, in view of the problems that the YOLOv4 network parameters are too large and that the detection speeds of Lentinula edodes log videos are slow

ABSTRACT Bacterial ghosts are empty cell envelopes, which may be generated by the controlled expression of the PhiX174 lysis gene E in gram-negative bacteria to obtain vaccine candidates. We describe here the application of this technology to Helicobacter pylori. The lysis gene cassette was cloned into an Escherichia coli-Helicobacter pylori shuttle vector and introduced into an H. pylori recipient strain by bacterial conjugation. Temperature induction of the lysis gene cassette revealed a quantitative killing of the H. pylori culture without induction of lysis-resistant bacteria. Biochemical

From folk tales to anime we can trace the narrative of the disappearance of the woman and the metamorphosing of the body. It is fair to say, then, that paranormal urban landscapes loom large in British culture and its urban experience. In its application of the gothic fairy-tale aesthetics and themes to Sicily's lesser-known woodland and mountains, the film's combination of real and fantast
