AbstractChapter 3 explores the interplay between storytelling and argumentation at contextual, macro, and micro levels. While this analytical framework can be applied to various contexts of strategic persuasion, the book focuses on its use in the startup environment. The comparative analysis begins by examining the transparency of persuasive intent. It contrasts the strengths of narration versus argumentation and the factors influencing each. Emphasis is placed on the role of facts in documentary storytelling and the conditions under which stories gain evidential value. This approach leads to a conceptual sequence outlining upstream and downstream evaluations of story acceptance, serving as a crucial intermediate step towards developing the analytical framework presented in the concluding section.

Abstract:
Under the July 2018 revision of the National Planning Policy Framework, the government requires local authorities in England to embed relevant strategies into local plans to deliver a net environmental gain over possible reductions caused by developments and infrastructure. The initial objective of this requirement will be to deliver gains in levels of biodiversity – short for biological diversity, the abundance and variety of species and their physical habitats – at the landscape level. In December 2018, Defra launched a consultation on implementing a mandatory biodiversity net gain requireme

Abstract:
The Informal STEM Learning (ISL) project1 research team from the STEM Research Center at Oregon State University, in collaboration with project partners, conducted a baseline survey with members of the informal STEM learning community. The main goals of the ISL Baseline Survey were to 1. Understand the current lived experiences of ISL professionals and determine factors around professional learning that might enhance belonging to institutions and the field of ISL, and success individual’s careers in ISL; and 2. Gain insights into current awareness and knowledge of the Framework and perceived n

Abstract:
Given the strong ties linking citizen security and the development of Latin America and the Caribbean, the Bank has been supporting efforts to tackle crime and violence. It has framed its work in citizen security through the establishment of specific guidelines (Operational Guidelines for Program Design and Execution in the Area of Civic Coexistence and Public Safety, GN-2535), which identify the Bank's areas of support, as well as those outside its mandate and those for which it does not have a comparative advantage as a development institution. It has also developed the present Conceptual Fr

Abstract:
This report introduces the first release of CORPS-STIF (Concrete Observations Repository and Predictive Software – Structural and Thermodynamical Integrated Framework). CORPS-STIF is envisioned to be used as a tool to optimize material constituents and geometries of mass concrete placements specifically for ultra-high performance concretes (UHPCs). An observations repository (OR) containing results of 649 mechanical property tests and 10 thermodynamical tests were recorded to be used as inputs for current and future releases. A thermodynamical integrated framework (TIF) was developed where the

Abstract:
For robust pavement design, accurate damage computation is essential, especially for loading scenarios such as truck platoons. Studies have developed a framework to compute pavement distresses as function of lateral position, spacing, and market-penetration level of truck platoons. The established framework uses a robust 3D pavement model, along with the AASHTOWare Mechanistic–Empirical Pavement Design Guidelines (MEPDG) transfer functions to compute pavement distresses. However, transfer functions include high variability and lack physical significance. Therefore, as an improvement to effecti
