Abstract:
Around the world, the Gini index is used to represent income inequality and is compared between regions. Proposed by Corrado Gini in 1912, the index summarizes the income disparity of an area into a single value that falls between zero and one [1]. There are numerous methods for evaluating the Gini index [2]. Considering its global use, it is essential for these different approaches to provide consistent results for a region. This paper compares the Gini indices obtained using three of the earliest developed methods. These methods include Gini’s original method, the relative mean difference me

The present paper reviews some of theoretical properties of the Lorenz curve and provides a non-parametric estimate of the Gini index and the almost sure convergence of this estimate. And to confirm the performance of the estimator, a simulation on real data was carried out.

Abstract:
The development orientation which is more dominant on growth, has been impaled to widen the inequality gap. The purpose of this study is to analyze the short-term and long-term effects of several determinants of income in Indonesia during 1998-2021. Data sourced from the World Bank in a time series format. The study method uses descriptive quantitative analysis with the Error Correction Model approach. The Gini index is used as the dependent variable, while the independent variables include the ratio of the work force graduates above senior high school, urban population growth, the agricultura

Background: Over the past two decades, population aging and the introduction of the new postgraduate medical education program in 2004 have impacted on the geographic maldistribution of physicians in Japan. The purpose of this study was to evaluate recent changes in physician distribution across municipalities from 1996 to 2012 using Gini coefficients and to clarify the impact of the new medical education program on physician distribution. Methods: We extracted the number of physicians classified by type of medical institution and municipal bodies. Abstract:
Gini covariance plays a vital role in analyzing the relationship between random variables with heavy-tailed distributions. In this papaer, with the existence of a finite second moment, we establish the Gini–Yule–Walker equation to estimate the transition matrix of high-dimensional periodic vector autoregressive (PVAR) processes, the asymptotic results of estimators have been established. We apply this method to study the Granger causality of the heavy-tailed PVAR process, and the results show that the robust transfer matrix estimation induces sign consistency in the value of Granger causality.

Abstract:
Water resource spatial equilibrium evaluations provide the bases for water resource utilization and allocation. To analyze the regional spatial water resource matching balance, this study constructed a water resource spatial matching model based on the Gini coefficient and Lorenz curve methods. To further reflect the influence of each subregion on the whole region, we combined the correlation number and Gini coefficient methods to propose the water resource spatial balance evaluation method. Herein, we constructed nine Lorenz curve pairs that matched the total water resources and total water u

Abstract:
In this paper, a copula-based correlation measure is proposed to test the interdependence among stochastic variables in terms of copula function. Based on a geometric analysis of copula function, a new derivation method is introduced to derive the Gini correlation coefficient. Meantime theoretical analysis finds that the Gini correlation coefficient tends to overestimate the tail interdependence in the case of stochastic variables clustering at the tails. For this overestimation issue, a fully new correlation coefficient called Co is developed and extended to measure the tail interdependence.

AbstractThe scope of this note is a self-contained presentation of a mathematical method that enables us to give an absolute upper bound for the difference of the Gini coefficients|G(σ1, . . ., σn) − G(γ1, . . . , γn)| ,where (γ1, . . . , γn) represents the vector of the gross wages and (σ1, . . . , σn) represents the vector of the corresponding super-gross wages that is used in the Czech Republic for calculating the net wage. Since (as of June 2019) σi = 100 ⎡ 1.34 γi/100⎤, the study of the above difference seems to be somewhat inaccessible for many economists. However, our estimate based on
