I denna studie har två olika GIS-verktygslådor och två typer av kartmaterial jämförts för attundersöka hur väl de kan användas till att modellera ekologisk konnektivitet på kommunnivå.Verktygslådorna som jämförts är Matrixgreen 1.6.4, en extension till ArcGIS 9.3.1, och ODC,ett urval av verktygen från ArcGIS Spatial Analyst. Som bakgrundsmaterial användes tvåolika typer av data, dels Svensk MarktäckeData (SMD) och dels en vegetationskarteringspecifikt framställd för ändamålet baserat på IRF-bilder. Syftet med studien är att försökaidentifiera en optimal metod för att analysera och kartera ekologisk konnektivitet utifrån demöjligheter och begränsningar som respektive verktygslåda och kartmaterial erbjuder, medtekniska förutsättningar liknande en kommunal tjänstemans. Jämförelserna är gjorda både urett kvalitativt användarvänlighetsperspektiv, och ur ett kvantitativt resultatperspektiv däranalysernas kvalitet och resurseffektivitet bedömts.Resultatet av jämförelserna visar att en analys utförd med Matrixgreen, mjukvara designadspeciellt för att modellera ekologisk konnektivitet är mindre kvalitetsmässigt tillförlitlig än enanalys gjord med ODC. Anledningen till detta är att Matrixgreen i sin nuvarande form ärbegränsat av programmeringsfel, vilket delvis förtar dess användningspotential. I jämförelsenmellan de olika typerna av kartmaterial så är det min uppfattning att vegetationskarteringenutförd med stereotolkning är kvalitetsmässigt överlägsen marktäckesdata från SMD somunderlagsmaterial i ekologiska konnektivitetsanalyser. Den förstnämnda är dock såresurskrävande att framställa att den troligtvis bara är ett aktuellt alternativ i projekt med storbudget.<br>Two different tool boxes using GIS were compared with the purpose of modeling ecologicalconnectivity. Additionally, two different sets of landscape data which could be used in GISmodeling of ecological connectivity at a municipal level were compared. The toolboxes arebeing compared is the Matrixgreen 1.6.4, an extension to ArcGIS 9.3.1, and ODC (Object,Distance, Cost), a selection of tools from the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst. The map data beingcompared is the Swedish Land Cover Data (Svensk MarktäckeData, SMD) and a vegetationmapping prepared by remote sensing and stereo interpretation of infrared aerial photographs.The purpose of this study is to identify an optimal method for analyzing and mappingecological connectivity based on the potentials and limitations that each tool box and mapdata set provides, under technical conditions similar to those of a municipal official’s.Comparisons were made both from a qualitative usability perspective, and a quantitativeperformance perspective with analysis of the quality and resource efficiency assessed.The results of the comparisons indicates that an analysis performed with Matrixgreen,software designed specifically for modeling ecological connectivity is qualitatively lessreliable than an analysis performed with ODC. The reason for this is that Matrixgreen in itspresent form is limited by programming errors, which partly deprives its potential use as toolsto perform connectivity analysis at a landscape scale. In the comparison between the differenttypes of map data, it is my opinion that the vegetation mapping conducted by stereointerpretation is qualitatively superior to land cover data from the SMD as support material inan ecological connectivity analysis. Although, the former is so expensive to produce that it islikely only a relevant option in projects with large budgets.

<p> The Probabilistic Infinite Slope Analysis model (PISA-m) is a widely used computer program that uses infinite slope equations to calculate the spatially varying Factor of Safety of slopes. ESRI’s ArcGIS software and accompanying geoprocessing tools have become a mainstay in spatial data processing, and received full support for Python with the release of version 10. With many of the geoprocessing tools now available as a Python function, the software can be used for physics-based spatial landslide hazard analysis. A model that mimics PISA-m and its processing of normally distributed soil properties was created using the Python utility as a tool for ArcGIS. The newly created ArcGIS tool is referred as the GIS Tool for Infinite Slope Stability Analysis (GIS-TISSA). The tool was tested using the example data from PISA-m and case-study data from the district of Kannur, Kerala, India. The results from both areas highlight how different slope calculations can affect the overall calculation of the Factor of Safety, as well as the new model’s ability to accurately predict Factor of Safety of slopes in an area.</p><p>

Thesis (MA)--University of Stellenbosch, 2002.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: A major concern for Energex, Australia's largest energy utility in South East Queensland, is the
escape of natural gas out of their reticulation systems. Within many of the older areas in Brisbane,
these networks operate primarily at low and medium pressure with a significant percentage of mains
being cast iron or steel. Over many years pipes in these networks have been replaced, yet reports
show that unaccounted for gas from the same networks remain high. Furthermore, operation and
maintenance budgets for these networks are high with many of these pipes close to the end of their
economic life.
When operation and maintenance costs exceed the costs of replacement, the Energex gas utility
initiates projects to renew reticulation networks with polyethylene pipes. Making decisions about
pipe renewal requires an evaluation of historical records from a number of sources, namely:
• gas consumption figures,
• history of leaks,
• maintenance and other related cost, and
• the loss of revenue contributed by unaccounted for gas.
Financial justification of capital expenditure has always been a requirement for renewal projects at
the Energex gas utility, however the impact of a deregulation in the energy utility market has
necessitated a review of their financial assessment for capital projects. The Energex gas utility has
developed an application that evaluates the financial viability of renewal projects. This research
will demonstrate the role of GIS integration with the Energex financial application.
The results of this study showed that a GIS integrated renewal planning approach incorporates
significant benefits including:
• Efficient selection of a sub-network based on pipe connectivity,
• Discovery of hidden relationships between spatially enabled alphanumeric data and
environmental information that improves decision making, and
• Enhanced testing of proposed renewal design options by scrutinizing the attributes of spatial
data.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: 'n Groot bron van kommer vir Energex, Australië se grootste energieverskaffer in Suidoos-
Queensland, is die verlies van natuurlike gas uit hul gasdistribusie netwerke. In 'n groot deel van
ouer Brisbane opereer hierdie netwerke hoofsaaklik teen lae en medium druk, met 'n aansienlike
persentasie van hoofpyplyne wat uit gietyster of staal bestaan. Al is sommige pyplyne in hierdie
netwerke met verloop van tyd vervang, maak verslae dit duidelik dat 'n groot deel van die gas in
hierdie netwerke steeds langs die pad verlore gaan. Die operasionele - en onderhoudsbegrotings vir
hierdie netwerke is boonop hoog, met 'n groot persentasie van die pyplyne wat binnekort aan die
einde van hulle ekonomiese leeftyd kom.

Alhoewel finansiële stawing van kapitale uitgawes nog altyd 'n voorvereiste was tydens
hernuwingsprojekte by Energex, het die impak van privatisering op die energieverskaffingsmark dit
noodsaaklik gemaak om hulle finansiële goedkeuringsproses vir kapitaalprojekte te hersien.
Energex het dus 'n sagteware toepassing ontwikkel wat die finansiële gangbaarheid van
hernuwingsprojekte evalueer. Hierdie navorsing sal die moontlike integrasie van geografiese
inligtingstelsels (GIS) met dié van Energex se finansiële evalueringspakket demonstreer.
Die resultate van hierdie studie toon dat die integrasie van GIS in die hernuwingsproses aansienlike
voordele inhou, insluitende:
• die effektiewe seleksie van sub-netwerke, gebaseer op pyp konnektiwiteit,
• die ontdekking van verskuilde verwantskappe tussen geografies-ruimtelike alfanumeriese data
en omgewingsinligting, wat besluitneming vergemaklik, en
• verbeterde toetsing van voorgestelde hernuwingsopsies deur die indiepte-nagaan van geografiesruimtelike
elemente.

Denna rapport presenterar ett examensarbete på D-nivå där uppdragsgivaren har varit WM-data Consulting och kunden Vägverket Produktion.Vägverket har ett antal olika applikationer för geografisk information som ligger utspridda på företagets hemsida . För att samla alla applikationer på ett och samma ställe fick vi i uppdrag att göra en grundläggande utredning av en GIS-portal. Denna portal ska fungera som en enhetlig ingång där kartdata samkörs och visualiseras. Ytterligare en del i uppdraget var att utreda vad som borde förändras och förbättras i den redan existerande tjänsten Beläggning på vägarna. Denna tjänst kommer att fungera som en testapplikation för GIS-portalen.Målen med examensarbetet var att utreda vilka krav som finns på en GIS-portal och applikationen Beläggning på vägarna samt att beskriva de önskemål som finns på dessa. Ett designförslag och en funktionsbeskrivning arbetades fram för både tjänsten Beläggning på vägarna och för GIS-portalen. Utredningen kommer att ligga till grund för utveckling av en GIS-portal samt fortsatt utveckling och förbättringar av tjänsten Beläggning på vägarna.För att komma fram till ett resultat har vi använt oss av ett antal teorier om IT-tjänster, systemarkitektur och användbarhet. Förutom dessa teorier har även de intervjuer som utförts spelat en stor roll för vårt arbete. Vi har lagt en bra grund för Vägverket att fortsätta arbetet med utveckling av en GIS-portal och tjänsten Beläggning på vägarna.

This thesis aims to design a possible shape of internal parts modernization using a component architecture and object-oriented design patterns with distributed computing and dynamic languages support in mind. The designed system should stay identical from the user's point-of-view. Design results are proven on a prototype library implementation called the GAL Framework.

Introduction part is dedicated to analysis of existing mapping services implementations and defined standards. Thereafter conclusion was drawn and the service was implemented, with respect to computing system efficiency, pluggable design and simplicity of integration in client applications. The interface for work with geographic information system GRASS GIS is also part of the implemented service and it brings the possibility to use the tool from service. The last chapter describes the testing of implemented service in term of functional and performance tests.

This dissertation provides a grounded examination of an evolving geographic information systems (GIS) discourse to examine how it affects decision-making processes in the context of resource management and urban planning issues, and whether the use of GIS is empowering or marginalizing for social groups involved in these processes. By using Foucault's genealogical and critical approaches to study discourse, GIS discourse is reconstructed. From the genealogy approach four discontinuities, the role of positivism, the social construction of GIS technology, the role of GIS manufacturers and vendors, and the institutionalization of GIS are examined to show how they have shaped the discourse. The critical approach uncovers how GIS discourse limits participation in decision-making processes through three systems of exclusions: prohibition, rejection and will to truth. These systems of exclusion legitimate particular knowledge, values and views that can be readily incorporated into a GIS. Typically it is the knowledge, values and views held by more dominant social groups that are privileged by GIS discourse, since they can be expressed in terms that are readily digitizable with no distortion in meaning. Hence, decisions based on the use of GIS tend to empower these groups because outcomes are in line with their interests. Using the Riparian Habitat Protection Ordinance and the Comprehensive Plan from Pima County, Arizona as case studies, this dissertation shows that GIS discourse systematically marginalizes weaker social groups. GIS discourse establishes the boundaries of the debates by shaping the way in which these issues were framed, dictating the data to use and the criteria to evaluate the data, and legitimating the participation of certain social groups. In both case studies social groups who argued from outside these boundaries were marginalized. An examination of power relations among actors reveals which actors can exercise power through decision-making, and that GIS discourse attempts to conceal moments when conscious decisions are made regarding the use of GIS. These moments are opportunities for contestations to occur, but since GIS discourse attempts to hide them, the use of GIS appears to be natural. GIS discourse is also articulated and reinforced through its intersection with local political and economic discourses.

One - year Student Edition of ArcView 9.2 and its extensions have been provided by ARCDATA PRAHA, s.r.o. Noise maps are created from measured data in the neighborhood of the faculty building and the Moravian Square in Brno. Measurement of geographic position of measuring points is realized by GPS. For creation of noise maps, analysis and processing of measured data ArcGIS extensions - Spatial Analyst and Geostatistical Analyst were used. The last part of this Master’s Thesis is specialized on creation of 3D landscape model using ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension.

The aim of this thesis is to create a noise map in a geographic information system. First of all, physical features of sound and the basics concerning the spatial, physiological and atmospheric acoustics domain will be introduced. Furthermore, we will analyse noise and its possible influence on the health of people. Substantial part of this thesis will be devoted to the methodology of noise measurement in urban agglomerations and to the issue of creating noise maps. The methodology of noise measurement in a particular area will be determined on the basis of the theoretical background. Geographic information system ArcView 9.2 from the ARCDATA firm (Ltd.) will be used for creating the noise map. The final noise map will be compared to the current hygienic limits. For comparison reasons an analysis of noise map using software CadnaA, which is used in professional analysis of noise studies, will be included in this thesis too.

I takt med att GIS (Grafiska InformationsSystem) blir allt vanligare och mer användarvänligt har WM-data sett att kunder skulle ha intresse i att kunna koppla information från sin verksamhet till en kartbild. Detta för att lättare kunna ta till sig informationen om hur den geografiskt finns utspridd över ett område för att t.ex. ordna effektivare tranporter. WM-data, som det här arbetet är utfört åt, avser att ta fram en prototyp som sedan kan visas upp för att påvisa för kunder och andra intressenter att detta är möjligt att genomföra genom att skapa en integration mellan redan befintliga system. I det här arbetet har prototypen tagits fram med skogsindustrin och dess lager som inriktning. Befintliga program som integrationen ska skapas mellan är båda webbaserade och körs i en webbläsare. Analysprogrammet som ska användas heter Insikt och är utvecklat av företaget Trimma, kartprogrammet heter GIMS som är WM-datas egna program. Det ska vara möjligt att i Insikt analysera data och skapa en rapport. Den ska sedan skickas till GIMS där informationen skrivs ut på kartan på den plats som respektive information hör till. Det ska även gå att välja ut ett eller flera områden i kartan och skicka till Insikt för att analysera information från enbart de utvalda områdena. En prototyp med önskad funktionalitet har under arbetets gång tagits fram, men för att ha en säljbar produkt är en del arbeta kvar. Prototypen har visats för ett antal intresserade som tyckte det var intressant och tror att det är något som skulle kunna användas flitigt inom många områden.

The cognitive factors of spatial ability, human-computer interaction, problem
solving ability, and geographic attitude have been recognized as relevant to teaching and
learning GIS. The goal of this research was to examine these cognitive abilities in
university students taking an introductory course in GIS; examine any changes in these
abilities after completing the class; and examine the relationship between those abilities
and the students grades in the class. It was hypothesized that students with higher
cognitive ability scores would have higher grades than students with lower cognitive
ability scores. Nine different self-report surveys were used to assess the studentsÂ
spatial, computer, problem solving, and geographic cognitive abilities. The surveys
were administered at the beginning and end of the two academic semesters. Analysis of
the students scores revealed a significant improvement on four of the nine cognitive
ability surveys; one that measured computer experience and three that measured spatial
ability. Bivariate correlations and multiple regression analyses were used to measure the
relationship between the students scores on the cognitive ability surveys and the
students grades. Students received grades on lecture exams, lab exercises, individual
projects, and an overall grade. Only two of the bivariate correlations were statistically
significant: the factors of geography attitude and learning style were significantly
correlated with the students project grade. Multiple regression analysis also revealed a
very weak relationship, explaining less than 20 percent of the variance between the
scores on the cognitive ability surveys and the students lecture grade, lab grade, and
overall grade. However, a much stronger relationship, explaining more than 45% of the
variance, existed between the cognitive ability surveys and the students project grade.
These findings suggest that cognitive processes utilized for traditional classroom
learning to pass lecture exams are different than those utilized to learn the software skills
necessary to complete a GIS project. Therefore, it was concluded that the cognitive
ability scores are poor predictors of grades related to traditional classroom learning such
as lecture exams; however, these scores are more useful as predictors of the grades on a
GIS project.

efficiency has improved, leading to greater productivity and enhanced economic
benefits associated with agriculture. The awareness of health risks associated with
food borne diseases has also increased. Systems such as Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Points (RACCP) in the USA and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in
Europe are trying to ensure that no food showing signs of microbial contamination
associated with production techniques are allowed onto the export market. Growers
participating in exporting are thus being forced to conform to the requirements set by
international customers.
The aim of this study was to compile a computerized record keeping system that
would aid farmers with the implementation of GAP on farms, by making use of GIS
capabilities. A database, consisting of GAP-specific data was developed. ArcView
GIS was used to implement the database, while customized analyses procedures
through the use of Avenue assisted in GAP-specific farming related decisions. An
agricultural area focusing on the export market was needed for this study, and the nut
producing Levubu district was identified as ideal.
By making use of ArcView GIS, distinct relationships between different data sets
were portrayed in tabular, graphical, geographical and report format. GAP
requirements state that growers must base decisions on timely, relevant information.
With information available in the above-mentioned formats, decisions regarding
actions taken can be justified. By analysing the complex interaction between datasets,
the influences that agronomical inputs have on production were portrayed, moving
beyond the standard requirements of GAP.
Agricultural activities produce enormous quantities of data, and GIS proved to be an
indispensable tool because of the ability to analyse and manipulate data with a spatial
component.
The implementation of good agricultural practices lends itself to the use of GIS. With
the correct information available at the right time, better decisions can promote optimal croppmg, whilst rmmrrnzmg the negative effects on the consumer and
environment.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Gedurende die afgelope dekade het die gebruik van presisie boerderytegnieke tot
verbeterde gewasverbouing gelei, wat verhoogde produktiwiteit en ekonomiese
welvarendheid tot gevolg gehad het. 'n Wêreldwye bewustheid ten opsigte van die
oordrag van siektekieme geasosieer met varsprodukte het ontstaan. Met die
implementering van Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) en Good
Agricultural Practices (GAP), poog die VSA en Europa om voedsel wat tekens van
besmetting toon van die invoermark te weerhou. Buitelandse produsente en
uitvoerders word dus hierdeur gedwing om by internasionale voedselstandaarde aan te
pas.
Hierdie navorsing het ten doel gehad om 'n gerekenariseerde rekordhouding stelsel
daar te stel wat produsente sal bystaan tydens die implementering van GAP, deur
gebruik te maak van GIS. 'n Databasis gerig op die implementering van GAP is
ontwerp. ArcView GIS is gebruik word om die databasis te implementeer, waarna
spesifieke navrae die data ontleed het om sodoende die besluitnemingsproses te
vergemaklik. 'n Landbou-area wat aktief in die uitvoermark deelneem was benodig
vir dié studie, en die Levubu distrik was ideaal.
Verwantskappe tussen datastelle is bepaal en uitgebeeld in tabel-, grafiek- en verslag
vorm. Die suksesvolle implementering van GAP vereis dat alle besluite op relevante
inligting gebaseer word, en met inligting beskikbaar in die bogenoemde formaat kan
alle besluite geregverdig word. Deur die komplekse interaksie tussen insette en
produksie te analiseer, was dit moontlik om verwantskappe uit te beeld wat verder
strek as wat GAP vereistes stipuleer. Deur die gebruikerskoppelvlak in ArcView te
verpersoonlik is die gebruiker nie belaai met onnodige berekeninge nie.
Aktiwiteite soos landbou produseer groot datastelle, en die vermoë van GIS om die
ruimtelike verwantskappe te analiseer en uit te beeld, het getoon dat GIS 'n
instrumentele rol in die besluitnemingsproses speel. Deur middel van beter
besluitneming kan optimale gewasverbouing verseker word, terwyl die negatiewe
impak op die verbruiker en omgewing tot 'n minimum beperk word.

Emergency hospitals will be at their best if the ambulance reaches the site in Golden hour where life of injured persons can be saved. Ambulance uses the road network to reach the accident site. Today there are many GIS based systems being developed for routing of ambulance using GPS and other real-time technologies. These systems are useful and play a major role in solving the routing problem. But now roads are so congested that it difficult for the Ambulance drivers to travel and reach the accident.</p><p>In this thesis present study area is studied and problems faced by emergency service providers on road network are identified. In this thesis GIS/GPS/GSM based prototype system has been developed for routing of ambulance on road network of Hyderabad city (AMS). This prototype is designed such that it finds the accident location on the road network and locates the nearest ambulance to incident site using the real-time technologies (GPS/GSM). AMS creates the fastest route from nearest ambulance to accident site, and from there to nearest hospital. Congestion on roads during peak hours is considered, and the fastest route on both major and minor roads is created.</p><p>In this thesis AMS user interface has been developed using VBA, ArcGIS (network analyst). In this thesis, detailed tsunami numerical modeling study was applied to the selected case studies, Fethiye town (Turkey) and Kiparissia-Zakintos-Pylos (Greece) in Mediterranean, using rupture-specific tsunami sources which can generate tsunamis in Mediterranean. As a first step of the study, the general database of Fethiye and Kiparissia-Zakintos-Pylos were integrated to GIS-based environment to organize, analyze and display reliable data from different sources. Secondly, for each earthquake scenario, the tsunami propagation and coastal amplifications were computed by TUNAMI N3 to evaluate the coastal amplifications of tsunamis and understand the tsunami propagation for the cases. As the final step, a study of inundation areas of probable tsunamis in these regions was performed. Available results were used to understand the effects of tsunamis and assist in developing mitigation strategies. Methods and results were presented and discussed.

The PlaceInGIS project is a comprehensive examination of how places can be represented using modern Geographic Information System (GIS). After decades of research, geographers now understand that places are dynamic features, whose fuzzy boundaries change over time, subject to internal and external forces. The long-term goal of the PlaceInGIS project is to make people's understanding of place visible, comparable and amenable to analysis.
Place attachment is a theoretical construct that permits the quantification, visualization and analysis of the importance of place. The method described makes use of two significant sub-components of place attachment, place dependence and place identity, to create fuzzy surfaces in a GIS.
After conducting a detailed GPS mapping exercise of the Colliery Dam Park study area in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada, 302 study participants were presented with a survey questionnaire between 2011 and 2012. The place attachment and place dependence components for each feature described were used to create "feature surfaces." These were then combined using a Fuzzy OR operator to generate a single "place attachment surface" for each individual, which can be compared against each other or summed to show the overall opinions of groups.
In the short term, we are developing an application called the Place Analysis System (PAS), which enables places to be adequately represented. There are numerous applications for the PAS, as it creates a foundation for the comparative study of place. For the first time, it is possible to visualize, take measurements and analyze place attachment. What was once an ephemeral concept has been made concrete and amenable to study. The PAS can analyze fuzzy boundaries, or the fuzzy boundaries can be defuzzified to be more compatible with traditional representations of data in a GIS. We examine two applications of the PAS, one as a tool for site planning, and the other for the geographical analysis of core and periphery. The main target of the master thesis “GIS application for marking of cycle paths” is to investigate the opportunities of cycle tourism in Lithuania, and to mark the cycle tour route and cycle route as technical design using GIS technology. The cycle route designing principles, marking possibilities In Lithuania and abroad, also cycle rout designs and cyclists flows are analyzed while estimating the opportunities of cycling tourism. Basing on the collected data and the implemented pools,, the GIS sub-system of the cycle tour rout, and its’ development technology is described. Such information would be useful for the cyclists while planning the tour rout and during the tour, however such system would be even more useful if there would be more marked and classified cycle paths. After creating the common Lithuanian cycle paths database we could gather and propose an information on the cycle tourism possibilities to the cyclists, which could benefit further development of tourism in Lithuania. The Dzukija cycle route technical design data were used during development of GIS subsystem of cycle paths. Herefore the rout were marked by hands. The developed GIS subsystem allows wider information appliance. The work consists of 76 pages, 16 tables, 43 pictures, 5 annexes, 29 sources.

Our social lives and where we live shape our choices in life. One of those choices is which party we vote for in the general election. The aim of this thesis is to see if there are any connections between the Swedish general election of 2010, demography, socioeconomic factors and geography. This is done with regression analysis and chosen variables. Another aim is to see where in Sweden the chosen variables aren’t enough to explain the results of the election. The final aim is to examine if there are any differences within municipalities and their electoral areas. The results show that there are several connections between the chosen variables and the results of the election. The most pronounced connection is a positive correlation with the level of education and a negative correlation with unemployment and distance to a major city. There are also several municipalities and their election results that the regression is unable to predict. The examination of the municipalities and their electoral areas shows that there seems to be a bigger difference between the electoral areas in a municipality with many electoral areas.<br>Hur vi lever socialt och var vi bor formar oss och de val vi gör i livet. Ett av de val vi gör är att välja hur vi röstar i riksdagsvalet. Syftet med denna uppsats är att se om det finns ett samband mellan Sveriges riksdagsval år 2010, demografi, socioekonomi och geografi. Detta görs genom regressioner med utvalda variabler. Vidare är syftet också att se var i Sverige de valda variablerna inte räcker till för att förklara valresultatet. Slutligen studeras också om det finns skillnader inom kommuner och dess valdistrikt. Resultatet visar att det finns flera samband mellan variablerna och valresultatet. De tydligaste sambanden är en positiv korrelation med utbildningsnivå och en negativ korrelation med arbetslöshet och avstånd till storstad. Det finns också kommuner och dess valresultat som regressionen inte lyckas förklara. Undersökningen av kommunerna och dess valdistrikt visar att det verkar vara större skillnad mellan valdistrikten i en kommun med många valdistrikt.

Denna rapport redovisar en kostnads-nyttoanalys för införande av geografiska informationssystem i hanteringen av detaljplaner och områdesbestämmelser. Kostnads-nyttoanalysen är en del i GIS-projektet Planinformation som drivs på länsstyrelsen i Norrbottens län. Projektet drivs som ett pilotprojekt i samarbete med Piteå kommun och lantmäteriet i Norrbotten. Huvudsyftet med kostnads-nyttoanalysen var att undersöka om det är lönsamt att in-föra GIS i hanteringen av detaljplaner och områdesbestämmelser. Analysen skulle också föreslå ett handlingsalternativ och fungera som beslutsunderlag för det fortsatta arbetet. Andra viktiga mål var att ge ökad medvetenhet om effekterna av ett GIS-införande samt ge ökad motivation för GIS-projektet. Analysen avgränsades till att enbart omfatta detaljplaneprocessen fr. o. m. att en plan antas av kommunfullmäktige. Dessutom behandlades endast effekter inom länsstyrelsen, lantmäteriet och kommunen. Först gjordes en beskrivning av nuläget och den föreslagna förändringen med hjälp av informationsanalys. Sedan identifierades de förändringar som förslaget innebär jämfört med nuläget. De icke mätbara förändringarna beskrevs i ord medan värdena för de mätbara förändringarna användes i de följande kostnads-nyttokalkylerna. Totalt genomfördes sex kalkyler. De olika kalkylerna gjordes dels med avseende på vilken av de tre organisationerna som antogs ansvara för ajourföring av GIS-databasen och dels med avseende på hur många av länets 14 kommuner som antogs delta i projektet. Antalet deltagande kommuner delades in i två alternativ. Dels att endast Piteå kommun deltar, dels att samtliga kommuner i länet deltar. Noggrannheten i kalkylernas resultat analyserades sedan i en känslighetsanalys. De uppgifter som har använts i utredningsarbetet är till stor del baserade på intervjuer med berörda personer inom länsstyrelsen, lantmäteriet och Piteå kommun. Förutom detta har även tidigare arbeten inom området legat till grund för analysen. Resultatet av kostnads-nyttoanalysen visade att projektet har en återbetalningstid på mindre än tio år i endast två av de sex kalkylerna. Dessa två kalkyler förutsatte att alla kommuner deltar i projektet och att ajourföringen ligger centralt, d. v. s. hos länsstyrelsen eller lantmäteriet. Nytto-kostnadskvoten för kalkylerna blev i båda fallen 1,59 och återbetalningstiden strax under sex år. Ingen av de återstående fyra kalkylerna uppvisade en nytto-kostnadskvot större än 1,0 eller en återbetalningstid på mindre än tio år. De icke mätbara effekterna av ett GIS-införande blev övervägande positiva. Framför allt bedöms systemet, enligt analysen, innebära förbättrad kvalitet i form av lägre felfrekvens, bättre tillgänglighet, högre lägesnoggrannhet och jämnare kvalitet. Exempel på andra icke mätbara effekter är snabbare och bättre service, bättre samnyttjande av data och minskad mängd rutinarbete. Resultatet visade att det är meningsfullt att driva GIS-projektet vidare. Lönsamheten blir större ju fler kommuner som deltar och om ajourföringen ligger centralt. Ajourföringen bör dock skötas av länsstyrelsen och inte lantmäteriet på grund av andra skäl än de rent ekonomiska. Motiven till denna placering av ajourföringsansvaret tar bland annat hänsyn till kopplingen till utfärdande av laga-kraft- bevis och rapporteringsskyldigheten till Boverket. Känslighetsanalysen visade att vissa i analysen ingående parametrar är osäkra. Kostnads-nyttoanalysen kan dock användas som ett trovärdigt, överslagsmässigt resultat i beslutsunderlaget. På grundval av den genomförda analysen och dess resultat föreslås att: Projektet bör drivas vidare med länsstyrelsen som ansvarig för ajourföringen av GIS-databasen. Alla kommuner bör uppmanas att gå med projektet. Möjliga effektiviseringar inom organisationerna bör undersökas ytterligare. Projektkostnaderna bör fördelas mer rättvist på de ingående organisationerna. Föreskrifter för den praktiska hanteringen bör upprättas

Work is strongly based on geographic system GRASS. This GIS is connectable through import and export vector data in shapefile format. Concept of storing layers is designed for ease of data manipulation and their portability . The main idea behind the application is to split the library into individual modules . The overall goal of the thesis was to study available geographic information systems (GIS) and to explore the functionality they provide. The implementation was focused on module for vector data creation and data analysis. As examples were used existing systems like GRASS and ArcGIS. The result of this master thesis was a plug-in integrated into the GIS of DELINFO, spol. s r.o. company. The plug-in can open, modify and save vector data in shapefile format. The plug-in is also able to do some basic analysis of the vector data, such as a region intersection, a union, hit tests and a distance measurement. This thesis could be used as a pattern for vector data operations in GIS.

The project was processed in ArcMap 10.4. and subsequently published on ArcGIS Online. The result of the thesis is a free web application. Users can view the course of the trail according to various criteria and points of interest there. Among other things, the thesis includes basic database queries and simple analytical task on the measured data. A file in the *.kmz format is the one of the outputs for the presentation of data.

In recent years there has been a great effort to combine the technologies and techniques of GIS and process models. This project examines the issues of linking a standard current generation 2½d GIS with several existing model codes. The focus for the project has been the Shropshire Groundwater Scheme, which is being developed to augment flow in the River Severn during drought periods by pumping water from the Shropshire Aquifer. Previous authors have demonstrated that under certain circumstances pumping could reduce the soil moisture available for crops. This project follows earlier work at Aston in which the effects of drawdown were delineated and quantified through the development of a software package that implemented a technique which brought together the significant spatially varying parameters. This technique is repeated here, but using a standard GIS called GRASS. The GIS proved adequate for the task and the added functionality provided by the general purpose GIS - the data capture, manipulation and visualisation facilities - were of great benefit. The bulk of the project is concerned with examining the issues of the linkage of GIS and environmental process models. To this end a groundwater model (Modflow) and a soil moisture model (SWMS2D) were linked to the GIS and a crop model was implemented within the GIS. A loose-linked approach was adopted and secondary and surrogate data were used wherever possible. The implications of which relate to; justification of a loose-linked versus a closely integrated approach; how, technically, to achieve the linkage; how to reconcile the different data models used by the GIS and the process models; control of the movement of data between models of environmental subsystems, to model the total system; the advantages and disadvantages of using a current generation GIS as a medium for linking environmental process models; generation of input data, including the use of geostatistic, stochastic simulation, remote sensing, regression equations and mapped data; issues of accuracy, uncertainty and simply providing adequate data for the complex models; how such a modelling system fits into an organisational framework.

The aim of this work is to examine the GIS in terms of service provider of underground services. In this work there are mentioned all important aspects concerning problems of GIS, it's launching in underground service company and also related technical information. The work contains an AHP selection of appropriate GIS for requirements of mid or small company. The closing part focuses on recommendations, which should the company accept for optimization of its running.

The master thesis deals with the creation of a geographic information system for the needs of cycling. A circular route on Jindřichův Hradec was designed and processed. The whole project was implemented on the ArcGIS platform, especially in ArcMap 10.4.1. Emphasis was placed primarily on showing the route characteristics without having to switch off the layers. Publications were explored and varied outputs were created for the presentation.

This thesis deals with creation of a geographic information system for two wine cycle route near by Mikulov. The main requirements were visualization of line and point symbols and research possibilities of publication data on the internet. Data, information and photos were collected in the field by the device Zeno 20 from the company Leica. This thesis was created in software ArcGIS for Desktop 10.4.1. from the company Esri and includes formation database queries and simple analysis over the measured data. Final GIS is available to everyone and allows to display the course of the route according to various criterions and points of interest for the needs of wine cyclist.
