Abstract:
Albanian society inherits an ethno-genesis since ancient ages. Part of this, is also the Gjakovar society with surrounding. Through development phases, as many other societies, this one faced with challenges from the most different. Among the main ones was the war for surviving from numerous invaders, and that until the last decade of the 20th century. Of course that all of them who had claims toward these lands, they tried through different ways, to make the history of this society as their own, alluding that this population wasn't existent in this land. However, the Albanian society managed to survive all historical periods and that by keeping its genesis clear. It had been achieved through 'inherits' guides of traditions and culture over generations, and that, leaving deep footprints not only for itself, but even for the stories of neighbor societies. So, through this study, we will try to tell how the society of Gjakova region has kept its ethno-genesis, proving that it was a unique part of Albanian society and that was one of the very first in Europe. We will prove it through showing historical-anthropological fact since the antiquity to the newest artifacts. To clarify that this population is really autochthonous in this land, it is told also by saving and taking-after the cultural heritage. As an argument it is also the keeping of surnames based on cultivated artisans through ages, which are still being held by a part of this population.

Abstract:
In this paper we have tried to clarify the problems that are faced "gege dialect's'' speakers in Gjakova who have presented more or less difficulties in acquiring the standard. Standard language is part of the people language, but increased to the norm according the scientific criteria. From this observation it comes obliviously understandable that standard variation and dialectal variant are inseparable and, as such, they represent a macro linguistic unity. As part of this macro linguistic unity and by sociolinguistic terms view, members of linguistic community speakers, through changes in phonemic and sub phonemic in toggle sounds, at the same time reflect on the regional and social affiliation background of the speaker. Gjakova is the city where fossils have remained as slang interlingual influences of Turkish language, Serbian language and after the war in Kosovo is very widespread of English slang. The methods we have used in the treatment of our case have been supported on the work and the survey, observation and interpretation. We tried to bring a clearer picture of speaking variation reports, in our case of Albanian speaking language, always when we deal with the extension of standard language in Gjakova town. The method of research and interpretation is the most predominant method in this survey, while an important place in the treatment of this topic is given to methods of surveying / questionnaire about the extent of the standard language in Gjakova town. We have done a comparison of standard Albanian language examination and other languages situations as well, which have a longer tradition of standard language, furthermore countries that have similar development situations with the Albanian standard language.

Abstract:
The city of Gjakova, which at the time of the events of 1998-1999 was located on the territory of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo (actually the Republic of Kosovo), became the scene of violent clashes during the break- up of the former Yugoslavia. Therefore, the relevance of the article lies in the need to analyse the crimes committed by Serbian military groups in the area of Gjakova from 1998 to 1999. The aim of the study is to reveal the nature, scale, and consequences of these crimes and to establish the connection between the events in Gjakova and the overall course of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. To achieve this goal, the following methods were used: analytical, comparative, case study, synthetic, induction and deduction, abstraction and generalization. In particular, through the analysis of archival documents, eyewitness accounts, international reports and other sources, the motives, tactics, and strategy of military groups in committing crimes were revealed. Thus, the role of these crimes is clarified in the context of a balanced understanding of the Yugoslav wars and their impact on subsequent events and processes in regional stability and law and order. Various aspects of the crimes are analysed in detail, including massacres, ethnic cleansing, violence and human rights abuses. Particular attention is paid to the role of the Serbian military in these events, its organizational structure and interaction with other groups. The study also examines the international response to these crimes, including the actions of international organizations and attempts to bring perpetrators to justice under international law. In addition, the role of these events as part of the historical context and their impact on the further development of the region was examined. The practical significance of the article is to find new facts confirming the crimes committed and which can be used in court proceedings

Abstract:
One of the factors influencing groups to hold together as one united ‘body’ for a social stability, is also the level of appearance of criminality within the region. Alongside evolution of the society, crime has also evolved and refined. Therefore, in the modern world of technology and science, criminality emerges in most diverse and most advanced forms. Based on that, criminality is encountered in every pore of society, irrespective of development, tradition, culture and nationality, and that from the local level, regional, state and all the way to international dimensions. This is furthermore sustained particularly by social evolutions experienced by the countries in transition, which were subject of a ‘reformation’ in all social spheres thus without sparing the human values. These trends of global development have, through some deviant cases, resulted with situations where all the existing social norms are being relinquished. Regardless of where you may happen to be, whatever newspaper you read, whatever news edition you watch on TV, one cannot but note that various criminal offences are being discussed or reported about, starting from the most common ones all the way to the terrorist acts. Based on the number and type of criminality, and based on the number of deviant persons, from 1999 onwards Gjakova region results with entirely new ‘behaviour’ in this direction. Therefore, current studying and analysing of social circumstances related deviant persons of this region consists of an immense and specific importance. Social circumstances and other factors of such persons shall be reflected through this study and that from the analysis generated from 95 of them which, in relation to the number of criminal offences reported with the law enforcement authorities from 2001 until 2012, appears to be 0. 41%. The sample included convicted deviant persons coming from the population of Gjakova region.

Abstract:
Pre-school education represents the first level of education whereby children are educated in their families or in pre-school institutions (age 0-3 and age 3-6) or preparatory classes (age 5-6). First of all, there are dialectal differences from their everyday language, from low variety to high variety that implies the standard of Albanian language. It is understood that through communication children's development can be stimulated, encouraged and accelerated through the appropriate techniques used by the teacher. The number of English language speakers is increasing every day by reinforcing its geographic position as one of the most spoken languages around the world. In the same rate, it is noted that the number of institutions providing English language teaching as a foreign language is increased. According to the Core Curriculum of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Kosovo, it is envisaged to necessarily have classes of English language learning for elementary communication in preparatory classes (age 5-6 years). Linguists define the language in different ways, the first thing that comes to mind is that through communication start all the development processes of the human being. Apart from linguistic communication an inalienable element is also the psychological one. Given that Psycholinguistics is a scientific discipline between linguistics and psychology, this paper is carried out by treating the standard Albanian from the psycholinguistic perspective. The purpose of this research is to get acquainted with the level of standard language learning at pre-school children, and how the English language influences this age.

Abstract:
Human being is nowadays experiencing the highest achievements in all domains of life. These developments entered in almost all human societies, even to the most isolated ones. This has also influenced that today’s societies differ significantly from the thousand-years-old traditional societies. Such radical transformations, did not only change the world outside, but they continue to change radically the most intimate aspects of personal daily life. These achievements on one hand represent great promises for the future, creating possibilities to access and communicate with the most remote places on the planet, while on the other hand these present security concerns. Part of these developments and transformations is also the Gjakovar society, which until this new century was distinguished for traditional and cultural organization, not only in Kosovo, but all over Albanian territories. However, the new flows of time development imposed the reorganization of society in this area. Certainly it had and continues to have its challenges, especially from its internal part. Transformation and the new developing flows dictated in weakening the secular traditions and cultural habits and embrace new ones. Although on one side it appears to be positive, on the other hand are emerging new concern occurrences that are creating volatility and organization instability, and putting the society of this region in crisis through socio-cultural aspect, especially in the field of internal security.

Infection with the new coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, or SARS-CoV-2) causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The virus that causes COVID-19 spreads easily among humans and more continues to be detected over time as to how it spreads. The effect that this crisis will have on the mental health of the population, both in the short and long term, is unknown. In the acute phase, fears of possible exposure to infection, loss of employment, and financial strain are likely to increase psychological distress in the wider population. In the long run, grief and trauma are likely to appear as financial and social impacts become ingrained, the risk of depression and suicide may increase. Lack of hugs, handshakes, free movement and isolation have made it impossible for people to socialize and behave normally with each other. Anxiety, fear, insecurity and lack of self-confidence are some of the main problems that people faced during quarantine and that they may face after the release of the measures. The purpose of this paper is to prove how much the Pandemic and the situation with COVID-19 have affected the mental health of the population in the city of Prizren and Gjakova. Quantitative study method was used for the realization of this work. This paper is based on the data extracted from the questionnaire completed together with the citizens of the municipalities of Prizren and Gjakova. For the realization of this scientific research are involved 200 citizens. Age groups, gender, economic status, level of education and place of residence were analyzed. Abstract:
We know that the Albanian language has simple forms of the verb, such as: participle, transitive, past participle, negative, which are then divided into two groups. What piqued our interest about the non-elaborated forms, are the syntactic functional forms of the use of the infinitive in particular (among others), in the essays of students at the Faculty of Education in Gjakova. If we look and analyze the first documents written in Albanian, it is noticeable that the infinitive was very commonly used, even when looking at its phonetic and morphological aspect. Therefore, this formal structure of the infinitive is quite disputable considering its antiquity in our language. In addition to the infinitive, we also have the participle, to which the auxiliary verbs “be” and “have” have been added, we also see that in the essays of our students the syncope is used in most of their writings, without overlooking the apocope. We also have the conjunctive, which shows an action that accompanies or follows the action shown by using another verb, which is also quite utilized in our students' essays. As well as the negative infinitive form, which is formed by placing the word with a negative meaning –pa, before the participle of the verb, which can also be expressed with the negative participle -nuk or -s'. We will present all of this in our research, where we will then show the changes that the formal structure has undergone, be it phonetic, morphological or syntactic, which leaves a lot of room to discuss their linguistic antiquity.

Abstract:
It is a challenging but crucial pedagogical task to assess students' progress in lessons and other educational activities they develop at school. Teachers can effectively inspire their students to actively acquire teaching knowledge by engaging in these activities. In this study, we compare the philosophical approach of Critical Thinking to current school practices to see how it affects how students' learning outcomes are evaluated. To fight our assessment hypothesis that the conclusive thinking innovative system has also additionally fostered the data assessment part, we similarly took the appraisals of teachers and students from ordinary and contemporary schools. The SPSS program was used to process the survey data, which we then presented in various tables as percentages in the paper. Execution of this preparation program in schools of the Gjakova Area emphatically affects further developing practices for surveying understudies' information and further developing their learning results. When compared to students and teachers in traditional schools, the results of our study indicate that students and teachers in critical-thinking schools have more favorable opinions regarding various methods and strategies for assessing student knowledge. Abstract:
This study was conducted to analyze Kosovo's most common parenting styles based on secondary school students' perceptions. There are four styles of parenting: 1) Authoritative parents, 2) authoritarian parents, 3) Permissive, tolerant parents, 4) uninvolved (negligent) parents. The study was concluded with secondary school students in two gymnasiums in Klina and Gjakova. Out of 1334 participants who took part in the study, 848 were female, and 486 were male. A quantitative method was used for the analysis. The instrument used for the research is the Parenting Style Scale (Gafor & Kurukkan, 2014). Each statement was conducted with a paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test to see the differences between fathers and mothers. Out of 38 statements, secondary school students showed statistically significant values that mothers are authoritative in 14 statements and permissive in 12 of them. At the same time, fathers are not authoritative but are tolerant in only one statement. According to female perceptions, mothers are more authoritative and permissive than fathers, while based on male perceptions according to the authoritative style, mothers and fathers are equally authoritative. According to the permissive style, fathers are more tolerant than mothers. In Kosovo, mothers are much more involved in parenting compared to fathers.

Abstract:
Abstract Aerial parts of Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericaceae) were collected from five wild populations in Kosovo, with aim to investigate the chemical composition and natural variation of essential oils between wild populations. This species could be considered of economic potential as it is widespread in Kosovo, on the other hand H. perforatum is one of the best-known medicinal herbs used in Kosovo folk medicine. Essential oils were obtained by steam distillation and analysed by GC-FID and GC-MS. Sixty-seven components were identified. The yields of essential oils differed depending on the population and ranged from 0.04 to 0.26% based on dry weight. The aerial parts of H. perforatum were characterized by the following main constituents: 2-methyl-octane (1.1-15.5%), α-pinene (3.7-36.5%), β-caryophyllene (1.2-12.4%), caryophyllene oxide (3.3-17.7%) and n-tetradecanol (3.6- 10.4%). Hierarchical cluster analysis revealed that the concentration of components depends on the origin of the plant populations, thus α-pinene and 2-methyl-octane were present in the highest concentration in population originating from Gjakove, Prizren and Ferizaj, whereas in the populations originating from Peje and Prishtine the most abundant constituents were caryophyllene oxide, β-caryophyllene and n-tetradecanol. Further investigation is needed to establish the natural variability and chemopolymorphism of this species in the territory of Kosovo, which should be supported by molecular level analyses.

Abstract:
Background: Very limited information is available on the prevalence and risk factors of asthma in adolescents in Kosovo, and no study has previously addressed the role of Human Development Index (HDI) on asthma in the region. The present study addresses these two issues. Methods: Following the Global Asthma Network (GAN) methodology, a cross-sectional survey, through standardised self-completed questionnaires, was conducted in the following six centres of Kosovo: Ferizaj, Gjakova, Gjilan, Peja, Prishtina and Prizren. Current asthma symptoms (CAS) and severe current asthma symptoms (sCAS) were defined according to the GAN standards. Environmental questionnaire inquired about gender, exercise, screening time, siblings, truck traffic, use of paracetamol, pet ownership, and smoking habits. Height and weight were also measured. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed in each centre along with meta-analyses to summarise the overall effects of each factor in the centres as a whole. Meta-regression of the prevalence rates was calculated using HDI as a moderator. Results: Participation rate was high (80.0–99.9%). Prevalence of CAS ranged from 4.6% to 11.3%, and sCAS from 1.7% to 4.5%. Factors associated with CAS were exercise, computer time, paracetamol use and dog ownership. sCAS was associated with paracetamol use and physical exercise. HDI explained 46% and 80% of prevalence variability of CAS and sCAS between centres, respectively. Conclusions: Prevalence of CAS and sCAS in Kosovo varies highly between centres. This variability is explained partly by HDI. Individual risk factors are common, with some determined inother studies conducted in other regions.

Abstract:
Kosovo during the Ottoman period was characterized by increased activities regarding youths’ upbringing and education. Prishtina, Prizren, Gjakova, Peja, Vushtrri, Gjilan and many other Kosovo kazas [administrative districts] were centers for educating and training children. This fact is confirmed by the number of the first Muslim cadres of educated people who made a name for themselves in the field of literature and poetry of the classical and modern Ottoman periods, as was the case with the poets of the Divan such as Mesihi of Prishtina, Dukagjinzade Ahmet Bey from Dukagjin and Mehmet Akif Ersoj from Peja (d. 1936). Education activity in Kosovo during the Ottoman administration took place in institutions that were observed by the High Council of the Islamic Religion and the Ministry of Education itself. As a result, researchers have the opportunity to trace official data on the educational and cultural activities that were conducted in sanjaks, kazas, and various villages of Kosovo. These activities are very well reflected in the documentation of the time, starting with the Salname of the Vilayet of Kosovo and other documents such as testimonials, student certificates, and various decisions of education directorates at the local level. This paper addresses the certificates of students from the Llashtica, Pidiq, Caravajka, and Remnik Maktabs [schools] for 1902-1903 school year and Pogragja Maktab for 1905-1906 and also provides data from the schools’ rosters regarding the number of students, the names of the müderris [teachers] who served in the Madrasas of Gjilan and Doburçan in the early 20th century.

Abstract:
Research and internationalization are the major difficulties confronting most higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region, putting research, innovation, internationalization, and economic and political strain on policymakers. This study is a qualitative and quantitative empirical research of two projects that examines their dominant perceptions and attitudes towards social mobility and internationalization of research strategies in HEIs as a basis of social and economic well-being. The research was conducted at the University of Gjakova “Fehmi Agani” (UFAGJ), through personal interviews and a structured questionnaire, which was carried out by management, academic staff, administrative staff, and students. The results demonstrated that the internationalization of research has a high impact on the increase of the economy and well-being in society. This research presents an analysis of the internationalization strategies employed by the HEIs through two selected projects involving different European and South East European universities. The study is based on a literature review (Almeida, Robson, Morosini, & Baranzeli, 2018; Dewey & Duff, 2009; Levatino, 2017) and the establishment of categories as points of reference and comparison. We look at and compare internationalization strategy focused on international staff and student mobility and internationalization at home (IaH) actions focused on the development of high-quality lectures and sensitive intercultural competencies in students as learning outcomes and strategic goals. Finally, in addition to an ex-post analysis of the ongoing implementation of the internationalization strategy at the UFAGJ, we draw conclusions and lessons learnt for the internationalization and quality of research within HEIs of an emerging economy.

Abstract:
After the end of the First World War, some countries in the Balkans remained dissatisfied with the status quo achieved with the Versailles system of peace treaties. The Albanian movement for territorial and ethnic Albania failed to fully realize - Kosovo and Metohija remained in the Royal Yugoslavia, established in 1918, which emerged from the First World War as a victorious state. The large Albanian population is a serious problem for the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. One of the culprits, according to some researchers, is Belgrade's own political circles in the interwar period. Nationally, culturally, economically and politically, the Albanians in this period are in the worst position of any other national minority in the royal Yugoslavia. Here are a few examples to support the above. In the period between the two world wars, the Albanian minority in Yugoslavia did not have a single school in their mother tongue, nor did it have a single cultural, educational or economic association. Dissatisfaction among Albanians from Kosovo and Metohija is growing with the policy of colonizing the Serb population from other parts of the country. This policy of repression against the Albanian population in Kosovo and Metohija provoked his numerous emigration to Albania. Much of the progressive emigration, in the person of Hassan Prishtina, Bedri Peyani, Ibrahim Gjakova and others, is extremely hostile to the Yugoslav state. This was cleverly used by the Albanian and Italian governments to break up Yugoslavia years later. In this regard, it is very important for Italian intelligence to engage Kosovo emigration in order to achieve full Italian control over Albania and weaken Yugoslavia's position in the south. With the impending new military confrontation on the international field, which would undoubtedly affect this region of Europe as well, Albanians see a real opportunity to achieve their national goals. Undoubtedly, the Albanian territory is also included in the geostrategic plans of the major countries for conducting military operations in the Balkans and implementing their further plans. In this regard, Italy's goal of making Albania a bridgehead in the Balkans for control of the Straits and the Middle East is to support the aspirations of Albanian nationalists after their long struggle to create a state that unites all Albanians. The status quo of the Balkans, reached by the Versailles system of peace treaties, was destroyed in the course of the Second World War. From all the Balkan states Albania was the first to experience the new order of Hitler and Mussolini and with their help accomplished its national program, precisely с the unification of the Albanian people and establishment of an Albanian identity in the Balkans. With the capitulation of Yugoslavia on April 7, 1941, a new territorial situation was created for the Axis forces and their satellite allies. The partition of Yugoslavia is one of the conditions for the realization of the „New Order“ in Southeast Europe. Convinced that the time was coming when, with the help of Italy and Germany, Kosovo and Metohija, western Macedonia, the eastern regions of Montenegro, etc. would enter Albania's borders, the Kosovo Committee with leading figures of Albanian nationalism, such as Bedri Pejani, Rexhep Mitrovica, Ibrahim Gjakova and Rexhep Krasniqi, have elevated political concepts for ethnic and territorial Albania familiar from the interwar period. In these years „Greater Albania” was a wartime creature, which did not get international recognition. The end of the war also put to rest the idea of a national unification of the Albanian people. The Albanian state again had its boundaries established after the end of the World War I; a large part of the Albanian population was left outside of these borders.

Abstract:
INTRODUCTION The aim of our study was to compare clinical characteristics, risk factors, treatment modalities and medium-term outcomes in STEMI patients in two different countries, Croatia and Kosovo. MATERIAL AND METHODS The study included 77 consecutive patients from two regional hospitals, included in the STEMI network of University Clinical Center Zagreb, Croatia (group 1), and 75 STEMI consecutive patients treated in regional Hospital Gjakova, Kosovo (group 2). Standard laboratory tests were performed in both study groups. Patients were treated by the standard protocol of the country and hospital where they were treated. Immediate clinical outcomes and 6 months follow up results regarding MACE were compared. RESULTS There was no significant difference between groups in basic clinical characteristic except for diabetes mellitus, (x2 = 6.96, P = 0.008, P <0.01) and glycaemia control (U’ = 1530, P = 0.013).No significant difference between two groups in laboratory findings. There was a difference in percent of patients treated with primary PCI, 71 in gr 1 and 55 in group 2, reaching statistical significance (x2 test 8,261, p = 0.0045). In patients treated with PCI, there was no difference in “door to balloon time” (DTB) between groups. There was a remarkable difference in proportion of drug eluting stent (DES) implantation (3.5% in group 1, 29.1% in group 2 (x2 test 13.5, P = 0.0002).The difference partly derives from the relatively large number of balloon interventions in group 2. There was 2 deaths in group 1 in early hospital period, both during interventional procedure, one of the patients was in cardiogenic shock. There was no early mortality in group 2. In 6 month clinical follow up there were 3 deaths in group 2, all in patient with no revascularization, and no death in group 1. CONCLUSION We compared the clinical characteristics, treatment strategies and outcomes, in STEMI patients from two countries. After initial mortality, patients from Croatia had a better mid-term survival after recovery from their AMI compared to patients from Kosovo. Use of revascularization procedures was beneficial, but it was less often performed in Kosovo

Abstract:
Background: At a global level, over 300 million people are estimated to suffer from depression, equivalent to 4.4% of the world’s population. The presence of depression, anxiety, and stress (DAS) has major consequences for individuals with diabetes. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of DAS among adult patients with T2DM in primary health care (PHC) settings in Kosovo and to determine any association between DAS, sociodemographic characteristics, and other risk factors. Methods and Results: This cross-sectional study was conducted in seven Main Family Medicine Centers in Kosovo (Prishtina, Mitrovica, Peja, Prizren, Ferizaj, Gjilan, and Gjakova) from November 2022 to February 2023. The study included 596 adult patients above 18 years of age who were diagnosed with T2DM at least one year ago. By gender, more respondents were female ((F 55.4% vs. M 44.6%); adults aged 30-59 accounted for 38.4%, aged 60+ ‒ 57.7%. Anxiety was the most common type of psychological distress among the subjects (82.0%), depression was second with a prevalence of 74% and stress third with a prevalence of 43.0%. Females were predominant among respondents regarding the three forms of mental health problems: Depression (F 75.8% vs. M 71.8%), Anxiety (F 86.1% vs. M 77.1%), and Stress (F 48.5% vs. M 36.1%) Subjects with only primary education were more likely to be depressed (79.6%, P=0.0072; OR=1.689, 95% CI: 1.153 ‒ 2.477). HbA1C >6.5% was found to be strongly associated with depression (76.4%, P=0.002; OR=2.071, 95% CI: 1.305 ‒ 3.284). Female gender and the presence of comorbidities were found to be significantly associated with anxiety. Female gender, level of education, history of DM in the family, presence of comorbidities, and HbA1c >6.5% were significantly associated with stress. Conclusion: Our study showed that the prevalence of DAS is high in patients with T2DM. Periodic screening of patients with diabetes in PHC settings for early signs of psychological distress using easy and inexpensive validated screening tools like the DASS-21 questionnaire is recommended.

Abstract:
This paper discusses gender equality concerns within higher education, politics and examines the gender related policies introduced in Kosovo. Gender differences emerge in primary and secondary education partly because traditional gender roles and stereotypes tend to be reproduced in schools. These differences are then reflected in and further strengthened by the choices made and opportunities open to women and men at the higher levels of education and vocational training. Therefore, it is important to examine whether and how Kosovo attempt to combat these inequalities. Kosovo have designed policy and have supported projects targeting gender inequalities in education and incorporate specific gender equality provisions in legislation or in governmental strategies and make it compulsory for political parties to create their own gender equality policies. In politics are obliged 30% quotas for female places in Assembly, but in other Higher management positions are mostly males, for example in 6 public Universities all rectors and most deans are male. In Higher Education Institutions are two main concerns in Kosovo with respect to gender inequality in higher or tertiary education: horizontal and vertical segregation. Firstly, it is concerned about horizontal segregation, that is, the problem that women and men choose different fields of study in higher education, with women being under-represented in engineering and science. Secondly, it is also concerned about vertical segregation. This problem is related to the currently existing 'glass ceiling' in tertiary education: while women outnumber men amongst higher education graduates. They participation in Higher Education its slightly increased at the doctoral level, and there are even fewer women amongst academic staff in universities, or none of them as Rector but few of them as Vice-Rector at the managerial level in universities. These two issues and the policies intended to deal with them will be discussed in this paper. 1)University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” since 1970, University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren since 2010, University “Haxhi Zeka” Peja, University “Isa Boletini” Mitrovica, University “Kadri Zeka” Gjilan und University “Fehmi Agani” Gjakova since 2011

Abstract:
Literary translation is a type of translation, which requires a great commitment in realizing it. The differences that may be shared by the SL and TL make translation as a process a complicated and challenging one, especially when it comes to literary text translation. The messages, emotions and culture that the literature of a language shares sometimes seem almost difficult to be passed from one language to another one. This is a consequence of differences that the two different languages share in their construction and in their culture. This paper has been focused on the problems of equivalence while dealing with Albanian literary text translation to English, carried out by Albanian university students who study English Language and Literature. Empirical and qualitative are the research methods that have been used in this scientific paper. All these methods have verified the three hypotheses of this research as well as have found the answers to the questions on this research. In addition, the results reached from the three aforementioned research methods have helped in achieving the objectives and aims of this paper. The corpora that has been used in this research is the Albanian literary texts: “Ajkuna qan Omerin” from Kangë Kreshnikësh (Kreshink’s Songs). The text has been translated by Albanian students that study English Language and Literature at the University of Gjakova “Fehmi Agani”, Faculty of Philology, department of English language and Literature and at University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti”, Faculty of Philology, department of English language and Literature. The translated versions were used as primary source materials for analysis. Another instrument used in this research is the questionnaire, consisting of two open-ended questions. One question aimed at identifying difficulties or challenges that students might have or face during their translation, whereas the second question asked them about the solutions that they might find when dealing with difficulties or challenges during Albanian literary text translation. Thus, the problems of equivalence during Albanian literary texts translation have been identified based on the analysis of students’ translation, and on their responses regarding difficulties or challenges that they faced or had during text translations. The work presents the most common strategies used by Albanian students during the process of literary text translation from Albanian into English. Abstract:
Most of the generated electricity in Kosovo is produced from fossil fuel, a part of the energy comes from the import, while participation of renewable resources is symbolic, and a bias between the grid extension and the load of power generated sometimes results in shortage of electricity and thus frequent power cuts. The use of renewable energy and particularly the solar thermal energy represents one of the most promising alternative strategies. In Kosovo, the global horizontal radiation ranges from 1241 kWh/m2 per year in Shterpce to 1461 kWh/m2 per year in Gjakova, while the average for Kosovo can be estimated at 1351 kWh/m2 per year. The average sun duration for the city of Pristine is 5.44 h, while the average horizontal irradiation is 3.79 kWh/m² per day. Participation of energy consumption in household is still dominant - about 41.4% of the total consumption in Kosovo, 15% of this energy is used for domestic hot water. This energy demand can be lowered significantly by using improved building construction techniques and utilization of RES-s, especially solar thermal. The first step is to map the city in different areas to locate suitable locations for the installation of solar collectors serving sanitary hot water. The demand for sanitary hot water varies from object to object, this variation depends on whether the building is individual or collective, school institutions or religious buildings, for this reason the classification of buildings was done according to the request for sanitary hot water. After that the demand for sanitary hot water is calculated for several different institutions: Residential houses, Dormitories and Hospitals. For all of the above-mentioned cases the data for: solar fraction, solar contribution, CO2 avoided, collector temperature, financial analysis etc. are gained using the TSOL 2018 software. To evaluate the active energy for a time period, the daily, monthly and annual performance for three systems which are located in University Clinical Center of Pristine, Kosovo have been analyzed. In addition the results of the mathematical model, simulation and measured solar energy contribution for solar station in Infective disease clinic have been compared. In this paper, a proposal for replacing the conventional water heaters with the domestic solar water heaters (DSWH) is made. A case study for 38289 Residential households in Pristine has been selected. The initial cost of the solar water heater for the city is 60113730 €. The system saves 7274910 € annually and reduced C𝑂2 emission by 22973400 kg. The results from the paper show that the DSWH is economically feasible in Pristine and can result in fuel saving and CO2 emission reduction.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This research focuses on the integration challenges of children with Down Syndrome, this topic addresses the issue of their integration into regular classes. This research has used the quantitative and qualitative methods which has served in data collection and analysis. The research was conducted in the parallel classes of the following primary schools in Gjakove: “Yll Morina” and “Zekeria Rexha”, at the Resource Center “Përparimi” in Prishtina, as well as in some other primary public schools in Prishtina and in Gjakova (in (“Nazim Gafurri”, “Hilmi Rakovica”, “Mustafa Bakia”, “Shaban Golaj”). The research was conducted based on various literary review and studies done regarding this field, along with the data results collected from the questionnaires. From the given answers we get to conclude that the discriminative mentality, the lack of professionalism from the teachers side in order to work with children with Down Syndrome, the inadequate infrastructure, result to be challenging in integrating these children into regular (inclusive) classes. The majority of teachers agree that MASHT (MEST) should provide professional trainings to the teachers that work with children with Down Syndrome.

Abstract:
Abstract: This article analyses the catechist manual (ʿilmiḥāl) who was written by Shejh Adem Nuri Gjakova in 1934, to provide an overview about spiritual rules and methods widespread in post-Ottoman Balkan Sufism. In this manual, in fact, there are a strong reverence towards ‘Alī and the Prophet’s Family, as well as a strong imprint by Ibn al-ʿArabī’s doctrines; both are among the main characters of Balkan Sufism, whose formation is inextricably linked to the religious and social history of the Ottoman Empire, in which the confessional boundaries were much smoother than today.

Abstract:
AbstractThe demand for community involvement during the planning process is growing. Kosovo, to be in step with global development trends in the field of planning, has developed various projects in the name of public participation. The pilot project for the Brekoci informal settlement in Gjakova is an example of community-based planning. The purpose of this paper is to show the way of community involvement through unique methods explicitly designed for this community, as the tool “Express”, “Mark” and “Vote” and how the data obtained from these tools through spatial systems as Geographical Information System and DepthMapX, have generated the community's vision, which has resulted in the drafting of the urban regulatory plan. This plan represents a reflection of the local cultural context.
