Abstract:
This research note argues that emerging research on poverty and education in Scotland needs to adopt a longer-term focus. Drawing on the work of Glasgow Caledonian University’s Caledonian Club, it reflects on evidence that one-third of parents who consider that their primary and nursery school children will not attend university when they are older also perceive that the cost of a university education will be a barrier to participation.

Teaching administrative and therapeutic aspects of information technology (IT) in an Increasingly crowded curriculum demands an innovative approach to teaching and learning in order to maintain sound educational practices. Abstract:
Scotland has always been part of my origin story, though I never lived there before my fieldwork. My father is Scottish and my parents met as a consequence of both studying at St. Andrews University. When they divorced, whilst I was a baby, my father moved up to Edinburgh. I made regular trips to see him and, later, my stepmother, half sister, and half brother during the school holidays whilst I was growing up. He would often take us to see the sights of Scotland, its landscape of villages, castles, forests, and mountains. The Scott Monument, Culzean castle, the pretty painted houses of Toberm

Abstract THE future of higher education in Britain was, at least in the legislative sense, settled by the Further and Higher Education Act of April 1992. Yet financially, socially, educationally, and politically this law left everyone in a state of great uncertainty. It was, of course, predictable that the binary system was over when I laid down my pen in 1991. The government had already announced the absorption of the polytechnics into the mainstream system and had invited them all to choose a new name for their own new university. The furore and the manoeuvrings in this nominal exercise need

Abstract:
As educators committed to a transformative teaching and learning we need to actively engage with our new generation, promote critical thinking, and share knowledge and skills to promote sustainable developments in order to build that much needed Science Capital. At this moment the UK engineering industry is experiencing two main issues: i) a shortfall of 20,000 graduate engineers per year and ii) lack of female engineers. These two issues are a key challenge that must be addressed to guarantee a sustainable economy. To pursue these goals a STEM partnership between Glasgow Caledonian University
