Abstract:
Surrogacy represents perhaps the oldest form of assisted reproduction, but at the same time the most controversial form of reproduction, on which reaching any consensus at the international level is almost impossible at the moment. In the last few years, the practice of surrogacy has encountered serious obstacles and challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, but also with the war on the territory of Ukraine, where surrogacy was, until recently, extremely common. As a result of this, but also the fact that some legislations have significantly tightened their regulations, the surrogacy industry has been quickly adapting and looking for alternative ways to continue to run smoothly. That's how the so-called reprowebs, which imply a global network of reproduction consisting of several different locations, more or less connected to each other and which require answers to numerous questions in order to protect all participants in this procedure.

Abstract:
The global tourism industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by technological advancements, environmental imperatives, socio-cultural shifts, and the prolonged effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study critically examines the current trends shaping tourism, identifies persistent challenges, and explores strategic opportunities for sustainable growth. Utilizing a qualitative research approach grounded in thematic content analysis, the study synthesizes data from peer-reviewed literature, international policy documents, and industry reports published between 2018 and 2024. The findings reveal that digital transformation—through innovations such as mobile applications, artificial intelligence, and smart tourism platforms—has significantly redefined tourist behavior and destination management. Sustainability has emerged as a critical priority for both policymakers and travelers, prompting increased investment in eco-friendly practices and community-based tourism. Additionally, the rise of personalized and experiential travel underscores a shift toward authenticity and cultural engagement. The post-pandemic recovery has accelerated preferences for domestic travel, flexible booking policies, and heightened health and safety protocols. However, challenges such as climate change, workforce shortages, over-tourism, and geopolitical instability continue to hinder the sector's resilience. The study highlights opportunities in technology integration, rural tourism development, public-private collaboration, and education for workforce enhancement. By offering a comprehensive and evidence-based analysis, this article contributes to the academic discourse on tourism and provides actionable insights for stakeholders aiming to navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving global tourism landscape

Abstract:
The purpose of the work is to determine the problems of training medical students who study in the specialty "Dentistry" at specialized departments in the conditions of today's global challenges. Main part. The difficulty of training medical students in today's global conditions is the need to carry out educational and cognitive activities under new conditions. The replacement of the informational approach of educational programs from dental disciplines to a competency-based one involves the formation of the student's readiness to use the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities to solve practical tasks in the process of further professional activity. Therefore, in today's conditions, a practically-oriented approach among dental students is the most necessary. This is ensured by the discrete presentation of the material, increasing the visibility of the educational process, and the involvement of simulation technologies for mastering practical skills.

Abstract:
The article highlights several areas that pose challenges for social science today. One of the challenges is the study of culture. The evolution of interest in culture in the social sciences is traced through an appeal to the role of culture in economics, which was an ideal type of ignoring culture for the most part of the 20th century. A paradigmatic shift towards interest in the study of culture at the turn of the 20th and the 21st centuries temporarily expelled society from the main forces that determine human behavior. This approach is no less reductionist than the previous expulsion of culture. The growing attention to the role of culture somewhat obscures the discussion of the problems caused by the spread of global capitalism and the development of digital technologies. Several other challenges stem from the changes in the internal and external contexts of social knowledge production. In our opinion, the idea of human rights is becoming a new significant context both for discussing the challenges of digitalization, and external challenges to science. The author maintains the right to one’s own knowledge and public expression of judgment, to some extent reduces the growing restrictions in other areas of the human rights exercise.

Abstract:
A global ethic for the twenty-first century will be different from that of the twentieth century. While themes of normative and political continuity will exist, humankind's main moral challenges have changed. Between the two centuries lie the end of the cold war, the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the global financial crisis, and the double transformation of the structure of power in world politics and the norms of sovereignty and intervention. Nuclear weapons will remain high on the agenda of a global ethic, but they will not hold as dominant a place as they did in the past century. This essay, focused on the continuing moral challenge of nuclear weapons, recalls the intellectual and moral lessons of the last century and identifies three leading issues in nuclear ethics today: post–cold war challenges to nonproliferation and deterrence, the new challenges posed by the terrorist threat, and recent proposals for Going to Zero.

While the historical context differs, the principles underlying Venice’s economic success and diplomatic strategies can provide insights into contemporary international relations and economic diplomacy.

Abstract:
The text of this paper is based on a lecture given at the symposium of the Ghent African Platform “Researching Gender in/on Africa” at Ghent University in December 2009. It addresses some general challenges faced by 'gender studies' as an autonomous field versus ‘gender research’ as an integrated topic within mainstream disciplines in academia. Gender studies have sometimes superseded ‘women’s studies’ and expanded to cover the terrain of study of various forms of diversity including men’s and transgender studies. We will show that the ‘mainstreaming’ of gender in public policy at local, national and transnational levels is a development which may potentially lead to the loss of a – feminist – political edge. Secondly, while gender studies with their emphasis on socially constructed gender as opposed to biological essentialist understandings of ‘sex’ appear to face the challenge of a popular ‘new biological determinism’, it is shown that the binary model of sex/gender in fact has been criticised for some time now from within feminist theory and gender research. This is (selectively) illustrated with research from four disciplines, including the work of African gender studies scholars, i.e. feminist philosophy, social sciences (in particular socio-cultural anthropology), history and biology itself. This then shows how the accusation that gender studies would be ‘socially deterministic’ without attending to bodily matters or materiality is unfounded. Finally, it is argued that there is still a need for gender studies to become more culturally diverse, more global and transnational in its outlook, by becoming more deeply attuned to the way gender intersects with other forms of difference and taking into account postcolonial critiques of western feminist paternalism, without falling into the trap of cultural relativism.

Abstract:
The current emergencies such as climate change and sustainable development, are outlining the responsibility we have as researchers and designers to transform disruptive technologies into action/reaction tools able to address and overcome the nowadays challenges. From this perspective, as designers, we indeed believe that the key to change lies in human behavior, and thus precisely in this direction design can impact using disruptive technologies in raising awareness by resulting into behavioral change. Specifically, this paper aims to encompass how advanced technologies such as Data Visualization and Immersive Realities can cooperate in order to activate proactive behaviors in contemporary society through a careful analysis of opportunities and limitations. On the one hand, Data Visualization has always been used as a tool for analyzing and communicating emergencies (Snow, Nightingale, etc.), on the other hand, immersive realities are more recently beginning to explore this field. It is indeed at the meeting point between technology and Human Interface that the biggest gaps emerge, sometimes making the deployment of these technologies fail, due to sensory, sociological, psychological, and cognitive limitations. Have we ever wondered, for example, whether the rules of Gestalt and Bertin's theories, belonging to the first half of the 1900s, are sufficient today in making effective Data Visualization? Are we relying too much on the "astonishing" effect of immersive realities, paying more attention to their use rather than to the conveyance of the content? This paper attempts to critically analyze – in a multidisciplinary way and through a historical analysis, case studies, and personal experimentation – the use of disruptive technologies, such as XR and Data Visualization, trying to clarify their limits, potentialities, and plausible common application fields. The objective of the study is in fact related to the determination of possible theoretical and practical approaches for the development of validation tests regarding the use of disruptive technologies and their relationship with the Human Interface.

Abstract: This article considers the problem of the global competence of modern youth. The characteristic features of scientific and technological progress in the field of the education system are studied. An analysis of the factors influencing sociological processes is presented: the global economy and changing job requirements; global migration and the changing nature of civic identity; growing need for global environmental management. These areas of life illustrate the volatility of the world and highlight the new educational demands that the global society makes. The approach proposed in this study for studying the global competence of teaching today's youth is directly aimed at developing students' subject understanding and interaction with all structural units of a complex, diverse and interdependent world. Many countries formulate their global educational programs in accordance with national priorities and traditions. Their initiatives, as a rule, converge in the main directions.

Abstract:
The understanding of transformative education in this article is based on the principles and practice of global learning. Globalization is understood as a transformative process creating challenges for society, human beings and education. Global learning, framed within sustainability and justice, is understood as a way of handling the transformative challenges of a world society. It is embedded in processes of European history. In this way, it is possible to see global learning as world societal literacy that goes beyond reading and writing, and to understand it as another level of enlightenment. To do so, I refer to the social, philosophical and educational ideas of M. K. Gandhi, also known as Mahatma ('great soul') (1869–1948), which still create a basis for reformoriented concepts of basic education, literacy and sociopolitical literacy in India today. These are historical concepts concerning transformation of the self and education as a means of handling transformative societies beyond an existing understanding of Western civilization in a systematic way. The concluding concept of transformative cosmopolitan education presents World Nai Talim as a basis for an enlightenment that is equally applicable to both the Global South and North.

Global networks are proliferating and diversifying between higher education providers and other sectors and groups. Some authors suggest this represents a process of de-nationalization, others that approaches to internationalization that de-nationalize the university will fail. Looking to the past, establishing international consortia and networks appears to have been a response to a range of major structural challenges affecting higher education. Some of these resonate today, but there are also new competitive challenges that encourage institutions to join networks or align themselves with partners for competitive advantage, for substantive and reputational gains. The consortia and networks that exist today illustrate both diversity and coalescence around multiple themes. These include functional and activity-based themes as well as shared interests and values. The question of sustainability over time remains as some networks have survived decades while others have disappeared. Those that recognise cultural, political and intellectual differences and the need to achieve mutual benefits are more likely to be sustainable.

Abstract:
The drip-feed disclosures about state surveillance following Edward Snowden’s dramatic departure from his NSA contractor, Booz Allen, carrying over one million revealing files, have ired some and prompted some serious heart-searching in others. One of the challenges is to those who engage in surveillance studies. Three kinds of issues present themselves: One, research disregard: responses to the revelations show a surprising lack of understanding of the large-scale multi-faceted panoply of surveillance that has been constructed over the past 40 years or so that includes but is far from exhausted by state surveillance itself. Two, research deficits: we find that a number of crucial areas require much more research. These include the role of physical conduits including fibre-optic cables within circuits or power, of global networks of security and intelligence professionals, and of the minutiae of everyday social media practices. Three, research direction: the kinds of surveillance that have developed over several decades are heavily dependent on the digital – and, increasingly, on so-called big data -- but also extend beyond it. However, if there is a key issue raised by the Snowden revelations, it is the future of the internet. Information and its central conduits have become an unprecedented arena of political struggle, centred on surveillance and privacy. Those concepts themselves require rethinking.

Abstract:
This paper examines the growing challenges artificial intelligence (AI) poses to global society now and in the foreseeable future. Through a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature (2019–2024), analysis of policy discourse, and emerging findings from preprints and recent reports (early 2025), the study identifies critical issues such as job displacement and labor market shifts, algorithmic bias and systemic inequities (including specific biases based on race and gender), privacy erosion and enhanced surveillance capabilities (including threats from deepfakes and cybersecurity vulnerabilities), autonomous weapons and escalating global security dilemmas, existential risks, the significant environmental costs of AI, data scarcity and lack of diverse representation, lack of transparency (opaque decision-making), and challenges posed by centralized AI infrastructure. These challenges are analyzed for their profound societal implications, including exacerbated economic inequality, complex ethical dilemmas, and tangible threats to global security and stability. A holistic framework is proposed to address these multifaceted risks, emphasizing the critical need for multi-stakeholder collaboration, the development and implementation of robust ethical governance frameworks, the widespread adoption of explainable AI (XAI) techniques, and the deliberate alignment of AI development and deployment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure equitable and sustainable global development. The paper concludes with actionable recommendations spanning policy interventions, targeted research directions, and industry best practices aimed at mitigating risks effectively and responsibly harnessing AI's transformative potential for the collective global good.

Abstract:
Religious freedom is a focus of controversy in the United States today. The leaders of some religious communities, particularly Evangelicals and Roman Catholics, object to policies that challenge their beliefs, often their beliefs regarding sex and reproduction, by appealing to their right to religious freedom. This leads others to see religious freedom as a threat to moral changes they regard as progress. Religious liberty threatens to become a source of social division and conflict. This article analyzes these conflicts and considers how the USA can address them more effectively by reflecting on several international challenges to religious freedom. These global cases show that the religious freedom controversies in the USA today call both religious communities and those with secular worldviews to recognize that social unity and respect for freedom should go together. Social unity requires respect for freedom, including the freedom of those with whom one disagrees.

The main argument is that, in order to make better sense of the complexity of the ethical questions and challenges we face today across the globe, we need to embrace the universal nature of self-critical and analytical philosophical analysis and argumentation, rather than using seemingly philosophical approaches to give unjustified normative emphasis on different cultural approaches to bioethics.

The key trends of the 21st-century labor market include: shifting of demographic patterns, quicker pace of technological changes, further evolution of globalization with its newer implications for the future of work as such. Very soon employees wordlwide will work in more decentralized but at the same time also more specialized firms. Slower labour growth will encourage employers to recruit from social groups with previously relatively low labour participation. Greater emphasis will be placed on staff retraining and lifelong learning. Future productivity growth will support higher wages and may affect wage distribution overall. Considering all of the above, it seems to be vital to understand the issues which organizations/employees are facing today, so that to be aware of the issues the upcoming generations would have to face, to adjust to and be prepare to, considering the growing robustness of the world labour market

Facebook birthdays have become increasingly trendy among young people globally and in Africa since the arrival of smart technologies. The study investigates the idea of celebrating birthdays on Facebook among selected Nigerian university students and reactions to this new trend. Using the diffusion of innovations theory and mixed research methods, in-depth interviews were conducted on six respondents, and profile activities of 300 Facebook users' content was analysed to investigate the research objectives. Findings demonstrate that most users found it convenient and economical to celebrate birthdays on Facebook. Online celebrations offer more global online visibility than offline parties leading to the formation of digital cultures and connections. The result led to a proposal for the bicultural convergence model that explains user experiences to social media effect. Poor network and high-cost data tariff, among others, posed challenges. The study recommends the provision of cheap or free internet access in Nigeria and Africa to enable increased growth of the digital social culture.

Visual media presents us with an opportunity to enter into the written scholarly discussions about an understanding of the paradox that what is seen and what is written are different representation. In this paper I investigate the importance of audience today; I discuss how global communications via new media challenges traditional views of the concept of an audience. I look at how communication is now from one to many, from many to many and from one to one, and how this challenges the term ‘audience’ with ‘users’. This paper enters into the scholarly debate about how interactivity in new media places singular interpretive actions by individuals at its center rather than as the more traditionally peripheral audience. In doing so it suggests that existing audience theory can and should be extended in regard to new media audiences, players or users. This paper also discusses how audience theory remains apposite when it adapts and changes. Keywords: visual media, audience, new media, audience theory

Abstract:
Today, global value chains (GVCs) are one of the main drivers for structural economic transformations both at the global level and at the level of countries, regions, industries and firms. In this paper, the authors consider the forms of participation of countries in the GVCs, the index of their participation in the GVCs and the indicators of the inclusion of the Russian Federation in the GVCs based on the OECD data. The conclusion is made about the extremely high level of domestic value added in Russian export and the predominance of the country's upward participation in the GVCs over the downward one. The crossroads in the transformation of Russia's involvement in the GVCs are proposed, taking into account the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and current geopolitical tension.

Highlights Addressing the complex political, economic, and societal challenges inherent in sustainable agriculture and food production requires interdisciplinary thinking and approaches. Relevant pedagogical models and extracurricular experiences can be provided by the Grand Challenges Scholars Program, now spread to nearly 100 universities globally. The complexities of agriculture and food production today can be addressed by future engineering leaders based on this program. Abstract. The education of engineers and other professionals to address the global grand challenge of sustainable food production will require much more than excellent technical skills. New mindsets, human-centered design principles, and collaborative leadership skills will be required to develop leaders who will be successful in addressing the complex political, economic, and societal challenges inherent in sustainable agriculture and food production today. This will require supplementing—not replacing—the technical core of engineering education with new pedagogical models and extracurricular experiences. One such model that has proven effective in this area and has spread to nearly 100 universities globally is the Grand Challenges Scholars Program. This article explains how the complexities of agriculture and food production today can be addressed by future engineering leaders based on this program. Keywords: Food chain, Sustainable agriculture.

Abstract:
The problem of infertility remains a global problem of mankind according to WHO and today, infertility affects about 10–25% of couples of reproductive age worldwide, estimates vary from 48 to 186 million. When developing recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility in 2020, WHO did not revise the definition of infertility given in 2009, together with the International Monitoring Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ICMART) in the “Glossary of Definitions of Infertility and Treatment of Infertility”, where infertility is considered a disease reproductive system, defined as the inability to achieve clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected intercourse. The same is the definition of male and female infertility in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD11). Higher rates of infertility are found in less developed countries/regions such as sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, North Africa/Middle East, Central/Eastern Europe and Central Asia. At the same time, the researchers note that geographical differences in the level of infertility are associated with environmental, cultural and social factors. The etiology of infertility has different epidemiological characteristics depending on the region. Purpose: to review foreign scientific literature containing information on the prevalence of infertility in countries around the world, the role of social factors in its formation, and the availability of treatment assistance. Materials and methods: bibliographic, information-analytical methods and methods of comparative analysis. Results: in modern research in the field of studying the social factors of childlessness, special attention is paid to the description and clustering of groups of childless women. The global problem of infertility is associated with adverse physical and mental health outcomes, financial hardship, severe social stigma, increased risk of domestic violence, and marital instability. It has been shown that women with less than secondary education are less likely to seek help for infertility treatment than women with higher education. In high-income countries, immigrant women, uninsured women are less likely to have access to fertility treatment, and they are less informed about their rights, even if they seek treatment at a later age. Findings. Geographic differences in the prevalence of infertility in different countries are largely determined by social factors. The study of social factors of infertility in women showed that infertility is associated with a low quality of life. Although the likelihood of infertility in men and women is the same, and male infertility is responsible for more than half of all childlessness in the world, infertility remains primarily a social burden for women, especially in pronatalist societies. Women from wealthy backgrounds are more likely to have access to quality fertility treatment.

Abstract Several seminar studies explain the importance of technical translation today, as 90% of the global market of translations is represented by technical translations (Kingscott 2002:247). The need for research on this was also signalled by Romanian scholars like Daniel Dejica, Loredana Pungă, Georgiana Badea, and Titela Vîlceanu (Dejica et al. 2022), who showed that there are only a few Ph.D. theses which investigate this type of LSP translation in Romania. This article is part of an ongoing Ph.D. research whose aims are: to develop effective teaching and learning methods, to focus on the state-ofthe-art teaching of technical translation today, and to highlight future research directions.

Abstract:
Food safety is a critical global public health priority that encompasses the proper management, preparation, and storage of food to prevent contamination and foodborne diseases (FBDs). To ensure food safety in the linked globe of today, international collaboration and robust regulatory systems are very vital. Examining significant standards, new issues, and strategies for ensuring compliance helps this study of international food safety rules to be comprehensive. Foodborne diseases impact about 600 million people annually, and primarily in underdeveloped areas over 420,000 people die from them. Among the major issues the paper highlights are new chemical contaminants (such as PFAS and microplastics), food fraud, antibiotic resistance, global warming, and disconnected regulatory systems. It also looks at the World Health Organisation, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the Codex Alimentarius, the SPS Agreement of the World Trade Organisation, and ISO 22000 international frameworks and bodies guiding global projects to guarantee food safety. Effective surveillance systems, traceability technologies, and digital innovations are key methods for raising risk detection and compliance. Three of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) this paper focused on health, hunger, and responsible consumption that relate to food safety. Among the recommendations are those for increasing global cooperation, funding laboratory and monitoring capability, harmonising regulations, and combining public health initiatives with food safety campaigns. Food safety determines public health, economic development, and sustainability; so, the outcomes reveal more than just a technical or legal challenge.

Abstract:
The accountant's timely response to challenges is not only a guarantee of the survival and development of the profession itself but also a matter of the effective functioning of the economic system as a whole. Today, the methodical patterns of the accountant's daily work are changing, responding to the social, informational, and digital transformations of the economic environment caused by global challenges and the introduction of innovative technologies. In this case the accountant's functions can also transform and change. The article aims to determine the actual functions of the accountant and establish the essence of the influence of global challenges on them. Based on the analysis of approaches to the interpretation of accounting functions by Ukrainian and foreign scientists, a connection between accounting functions and the functions of an accountant was established. It was found that the accountant's role in the enterprise management system is represented by six functions: organization, communication, accounting, control, analytics, forecasting and planning. The accountant's functions do not exist separately but are in close interaction with each other and are divided into levels: Level 0 – system-forming functions; Level 1 – basic functions; Level 2 – management functions. It was found that accounting functions are affected by four groups of global challenges (technological, economic, political, and social). The consequences of such influence are as follows: an increase in the specific weight and value of professional judgment due to the automation of standard processes; the need to implement a more flexible and individualized work organization; the need to find competitive advantages in the global market; expanding the radius and increasing the speed of communication; increasing relevance of cooperation and communication within the professional social movement; separation of software control; expanding the number of factors to be considered; stimulation of increased planning flexibility; the need to work with non-financial indicators; the need to be able to react to unforeseen circumstances quickly.

Abstract:
Today, the world is at a turning spot. The changes that we are undergoing are universal in scope, radical, indispensable and structural in content. As we have arrived the 21st century a sense of hopefulness prevails for achieving harmony and prosperity through effective role-play of regional as well as worldwide organizations. Many outlook Asia as having a variety of characteristics in familiar with Europe of the nineteenth century: developing international organizations, mixed domestic orders, increasing nationalism, high but differential growth rates, and bitter, emotional rivalries between insecure neighbours. The accomplishment of states in today’s world is not so much measured in terms of capacity for defending borders or generating uniquely state organizations, but in terms of ability to adapt to regional and global trends, endorse exports, draw investments, and skilled labour, deliver a advantageous environment for transnational companies, build good-looking institutions of research and higher learning, wield political influence on the regional and global scene, and also brand the state culturally in the worldwide market-place.

Abstract:
The social and environmental crises are significant challenges faced by the world today, focusing on sustainable development. This research aims to identify social and environmental issues and the relationship between them, seeking solutions to these global challenges. The methods used include a literature review and data analysis from various relevant sources. The results indicate that social issues such as poverty, economic inequality, and discrimination are closely linked to environmental issues like climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Social problems often exacerbate environmental degradation, while environmental crises negatively impact social well-being. In conclusion, a holistic and collaborative approach involving multiple sectors and stakeholders is needed to find sustainable solutions. Technological innovation, wise public policies, increased social awareness, and changes in consumer behavior are crucial in addressing these challenges. Cultural transformation and active community participation are also required to create a balance between human needs and environmental sustainability.
