Abstract:
St. Jonah, Archbishop of Novgorod, took an active part in the glorification of many saints. With his care and blessing, services were composed for various Saints, including St. Jonah, Metropolitan of Moscow. The monk Zinovy of Otensky, who asceticized in the same monastery where the Archbishop of Novgorod began his monastic life and was buried, created the service of St. Jonah himself.

Abstract:
English Romantic poetry contributes profound love and genuine reverence of the poets to nature. Birds constitute a part of nature, and love for nature is one of the perpetual features and themes of the Romantic poetry. This article, which aims at exploring birds how English Romantic poets glorify them in their poetry, comprises five poems of four celebrated English Romantic poets, namely Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley and Keats. This article concludes that the Romantic poets glorify birds as a blithe spirit, a light-winged fairy, an ethereal minstrel, a blithe new-comer, a wandering voice, a darling of the spring, Christian soul and so on.

Abstract:
As shown in his letters of the year 58 Cicero, laid low by exile, had to glorify his consulship of 63 B. C. in order to restore his dignitas, just as he had done in his consular speeches, his letters toPompey and in other writings. To the glory of his consulship, henot only added his triumphal return but also, paradoxically enough, his departure into exile which, according to him, would yet again prevent bloodshed in Rome. But the reconstruction of his own image, this persona reflected in his speeches and letters, faces a dilemma commonly acknowledged by rhetoricians : that of self-praise, being torn between moral depreciation and political necessity.

The question of the entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the Kingdom of the SHS is important to research and study through the columns of the National Unity, the official newsletter of the new national authorities. Although in its first issue it was announced with pomp, it was an independent newsletter, it was everything, but not independently. Namely, this is a school example of the Edict list, which served to glorify the new state of Slovenians, Croats and Serbs, and later to glorify the unification into the Kingdom, that is, first of all, the glorification of the Serbian element in the Kingdom of the SHS. This work follows the information contained in columns from November 4, when the first number of the National Unity was published, until December 26, 1918, or less than two months.

Abstract:
Indonesia’s music industry has undergone a significant transformation from the vinyl disc era to the digital era, with new challenges and opportunities in maintaining the existence of music groups. This research aims to explore Glorify the Lord Ensemble’s journey in gaining attention in the music industry and analyse their strategies for long-term sustainability. Qualitative research methods were used, including observation, interviews, and documentation studies to collect data from rehearsals, performances, and internal group interactions. The results revealed that Glorify’s initial appeal came from their founder, Daud PM Saba, who blended pop, rock, R&B soul, and black gospel genres with signature choreography, attracting the attention of renowned artists and fans. Their sustainability strategy involves regular activities for members and active publications on social media, maintaining their existence during the passing pandemic and in the midst of music industry competition. Recommendations from this research are to continue adapting innovations in content, and social media interactions, as well as maintaining the quality of rehearsals, and collaborations that strengthen their reputation. This research provides important insights into successful existence strategies in the competitive music industry.

Gorman, Michael J. "Romans: The First Christian Treatise on Theosis." Journal of Theological Interpretation 5, no. 1 (2011): 13–34. http://dx.doi.org/10.2307/26421350.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Building on renewed interest in theosis generally, and particularly with respect to Paul, this essay argues that Romans is the first Christian treatise on theosis, an elaboration of the embryonic passages about theosis, including the "interchange" (Morna Hooker) texts, found in 2 Corinthians. Earlier work on theosis in Paul suggests that it means transformative participation in the kenotic, cruciform character of God through Spirit-enabled conformity to the incarnate, crucified, and resurrected/glorified Christ. This essay traces Paul's soteriology of restoring human dikaiosynē and doxa—fundamental elements of theosis—in Romans. For Paul, this restoration is accomplished by participation in the death and resurrection of the obedient and faithful Son. It is manifested in "righteoused," cruciform communities of Christlike Godlikeness in which Gentiles and Jews glorify God together as a partial and proleptic foreshadowing of the final glory of God and, at least implicitly, as a counterpoint to the pseudo-glory of Rome.

Abstract:
The goal of this elaborate is to explain and describe the processes of glorification of a brand or product in the digital era. The new technologies have radically changed the business and marketing strategies of the companies operating in the luxury sector, but as well they have created profound changes in the life of consumers. What has always characterized the luxury sector, especially in the fashion industry, is the ability to provide an experience, both physical and sensorial when the consumer interacts with the brand. If a few decades ago, the only touchpoints available were in the traditional “Brick and mortar” stores, now companies have a new variety of options to provide these experiences. Not only the web and social media, can be used to collect data of customers to provide a personalized experience, but also there a series of new technologies such as virtual reality, that could be used to for example can be used to increase the engagement of buyers and consequently the loyalty to the brand. To arrive at the glorification of brands and products nowadays the keyword is Omnichannel, meaning an integration of the online and the offline world. For the purpose of this thesis and to better understand this concept, I will analyse the strategies adopted by some famous fashion luxury brands, especially Moncler that has demonstrated how adopting new technologies does not imply cancelling the heritage of a brand.

Moore, Travis James. "Article 1- "God will Glorify Your Marriage": Marital Satisfaction and Relational Spirituality in Religious Black Couples Article 2- "A Godly Man": A Qualitative Exploration of the Influence of Religion on Black Masculinity and Fatherhood." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2018. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/7445.

Full text
Abstract:
Research suggest that Black couples tend to marry later, with less frequency, have marriages that do not last as long, and are more prone to divorce than other racial categories. However, religion may play an important role to counteract the negative marriage trends among Black heterosexual couples. As a growing subfield of family psychology this study examines the influence of religion on marital sanctification and relational spirituality among 33 Black married couples (N = 66). In-depth qualitative interviews with Black married couples were analyzed to see how religion informed and shaped perceptions of marital sanctification as well as unique relational domains of relational spirituality. Major findings indicate that religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, and communities helped to form a perceptual framework that marriage was holy and sacred. Findings about marital sanctification suggested that religious couples may view their marriage as sacred or holy in four distinct ways: a) God-given; b) God-ordained; c) God-created; and, d) God-inspired. These perceptions of marriage a sacred institution seemed to influence four relational domains of relational spirituality by: a) creating a religiously-inspired goal-oriented perspective for partner or mate selection; b) encouraging a sense of sacred permanence to the relationship; c) fostering a willingness to sacrifice for one's relationship; and, d) evoking a pattern of religious and spiritual relational maintenance within the context of marriage. Marital sanctification was associated with increase in relational spirituality. Likewise, relational spirituality seemed to perpetuate an increase in marital sanctification. Thus, suggesting the potential for positive bi-directionality between marital sanctification and relational spirituality that may foster increased marital satisfaction, quality, and commitment and may also serve as a potential buffer against divorce among Black religious couples. Additional subthemes of marital sanctification and relational spirituality were also discussed as well as limitations of this study and suggestions for future research.Contemporary societal and media portrayals of Black masculinity and fatherhood often give a limited, or potentially negative view of manhood, and/or parenthood among Black males. Black American males are often represented and lauded as sports stars and rappers or marginalized as gangsters and deadbeat dads. The present study seeks to expand the paradigm of Black masculinity and fatherhood and provide a potentially positive, more expansive view of Black males in the success frame of religion and family life. In depth qualitative interview data was analyzed from a subsection of the American Families of Faith Dataset involving 33 religious Black couples (N = 66) from different religious backgrounds (Muslim and Christian) across the United States. Major findings identified two psychological processes that seemed to suggest a religious and family-oriented success frame for defining masculinity and manliness. Participants described undergoing a process of personal spiritual growth and maturity in which individuals left behind the "street life" mentality, in favor of becoming a "Godly man." This process was positively connected with the process of religious or spiritual masculine-identity transformation in which manhood was defined in terms of being relational with God and family, rather than the "bachelor mindset" or "single life" which suggested a relationally isolated view of masculinity. Implications, applications, limitations, and future directions for research were also discussed.

Abstract:
The glory is an optical phenomenon observed above liquid water clouds and consists of coloured rings around the anti-solar point. Since the glory is caused by scattering on spherical particles it can be used as a proxy to identify liquid water at the cloud top. Images taken with a CANON digital camera equipped with a fish-eye lens on board the research aircraft Polar 5 during the measurement campaign Radiation-Aerosol-Cloud Experiment in the Arctic Circle (RACEPAC) were analysed for glories. To identify glories an algorithm consisting of five criteria was developed by using simulations of the scattering angle dependent radiance and a test data set of measurements. The algorithm was tested and proved to be able to distinguish between images showing a glory and images not showing any glory.<br>Die Glorie ist eine optische Erscheinung, die über Flüssigwasserwolken beobachtet werden kann und aus farbigen Ringen um den Gegensonnenpunkt besteht.

Abstract:

Abstract:
William Devonshire Saull was a financial kingpin of the political underworld. His wine-trade profits were as essential to the deist-cum-atheist Richard Carlile’s anti-clerical movement in the 1820s as to Robert Owen’s socialism in the 1830s. And Saull’s museum of fossils—forgotten today—was designed to glorify an evolutionary world with its promise of earthly salvation for the downtrodden. This opening section explains why the new understandings of earth history were paramount in the blasphemy/socialist movements, as it sought to shrug off clerical and capitalist control. It details some of the new, untapped sources for dealing with the subject at street level: police spy reports, the newly-digitized London newspapers, and satirical magazines, which left a wide class of readers laughing at Saull’s belief in a monkey ancestry for mankind. The introduction also touches on Victorian sensitivities to explain why Saull, his bankrolling activities and criminal enormities (atheism, socialism, evolution), are so little known. It gives a preview of Saull’s political activities: in London’s first Labour Exchange, in rational schooling experiments, in his materialism as a seditious, anti-theological weapon, and in his help for the emerging working-class activists resisting tithes and clerical oppression. ‘Atheism’ was never a stationary concept, and we track its changes as activists developed new vectors of attack. Science’s multiplicity of meanings for the underclass is also explored. The theme of this section is Saull’s gigantic, free-to-all museum and why it has escaped attention, and how we have to refocus to see it in its true dissident context.

Abstract:
The Antioch oration of Libanius is, on the one hand, a typical product of the sophistic work of the orator, designed to glorify his native city, and on the other, one of the best examples of the panegyric of the city in late ancient oratory. A panegyric to the city is a popular genre of solemn eloquence, well studied and described in the ancient rhetorical literature. However, Libanius’ Antioch oration is particularly interesting as the result of the development of ancient oratory, accumulating the old rhetorical tradition and the best achievements of ancient Greek orators in this genre, dating back to Isocrates and to the first sophists. The discovery of the closest literary samples for the Antioch oration allows us to determine the degree and nature of the influence of the previous rhetoric literature (the so-called Second Sophistic) on the development of late ancient eloquence, often referred as the Third Sophistic, as well as assess the contribution of Libanius as a panegyrist to the history of ancient oratory. Abstract:
When the refractive index m of a sphere is such that rainbows occur in the forward or backward direction, the glory scattering becomes exceptionally strong. A number of these refractive index values have been determined from the geometry of ray paths. Diffraction theory applied to the scattered wavefront leads to an x4/3 dependence in the scattered irradiance, where x = (sphere circumference/incident wavelength) is the size parameter; normal glory-scattered irradiance increases proportional to x. Mie theory computations illustrate the presence of rainbow-glories at predicted m values, and the x4/3 irradiance factor. As in normal glory scattering, the rainbow-glory light contains a strong cross-polarized component. Experiments using single glass spheres immersed in liquids have shown cross-polarized scattering and a sensitive dependence on m in agreement with predictions.

The question arises whether there are planned rural settlements in Croatia and whether there is adequate awareness of the recognition of the spatial structure of the village as part of the spatial identity, i.e., the cultural heritage that is used in the planning of sustainable development and tourism? The research showed that in Croatia there is continuity in the planning of rural settlements, which confirms that rural settlements can be the concern of society, that is, the state. Through the planning of rural settlements, social understanding, scientific achievements, legal system, social relations, and numerous other factors are manifested. Due to the process of globalization and Europeanization, some believe that rural settlements have no prospects. Others, again, have a sentimental (romantic) attitude towards them and glorify its culture and way of life. The question is whether there is a more realistic “third way” that will accept modernization processes and at the same time respect spatial identity? In any case, the planning of rural settlements should be understood as a specific planning discipline that would: comprehensively solve the problem of rural settlements and rural areas, ensure development that respects heritage, arouse interest, and involve the local population, coordinate the cooperation of the local population and all those who work in rural areas space. Spatial planning of rural settlements is often reduced to the expansion of the construction area, without thinking about preserving the existing recognizable spatial structure. The result is an imbalance between construction and agricultural land, as well as a loss of spatial identity. The quality results of the spatial planning of rural settlements, among other things, will depend on the alignment of different sectoral policies to effective administration and self-government as all stakeholders of society.

Abstract:
On 20 January 1995, an apparent cirrus cloud glory was photographed over central Utah from an airline passing through the 10.7 km MSL level as it began its descent into Salt Lake City International Airport. The cirrus cloud layer was geographically widespread and optically thin enough to view the snow-covered Wasatch Mountain Plateau beneath the cloud. The glory was easily visible surrounding the shadow of the aircraft, ahead of a short contrail. Photographic analysis shows a single reddish-brown ring of ~2.1° radius surrounding a central bright spot, although a vague second ring appeared visually to have been present over the brief (~3-min) observation period. The presence of a glory can only be accounted for through the interference effects of the backscattered light rays for particles that are spherical in shape. Coincident Salt Lake City radiosonde data show a cirrus cloud top temperature in the -50° to -55°C range. We are unable to evoke the presence of other, more exotic cloud forming substances at the indicated cloud temperature to explain this phenomenon. Hence, employing Mie theory scattering simulations, we conclude that this apparently unique atmospheric optical observation provides evidence for the occurrence of a population of ~20 μm diameter spherical ice particles. This size is consistent with those derived from cirrus cloud top corona displays, although in such cases unusually high linear depolarization ratios suggest the presence of complicated particle shapes. The lack of vivid colorization in the glory implies that the particle size distribution may have been broader than those of typical cloud droplet populations producing glories, or that the ice spheres were somewhat irregular in surface complexity. The brief appearance of this cirrus cloud glory, and its location over mountainous terrain, suggests that the cloud generating mechanism was a mountain wave cloud at about the cirrus cloud top position.

Abstract:
The article discusses one of the many examples of the interaction of a word and a visual image. Given the peculiarities of the linguistic situation of the era of Peter I, the authors argue that the potential multiplicity of the image of the character Slava is due to the semantics of the name of this allegorical figure. The paired describing of Slava is probably the result of the ongoing Western European influence, offering new examples of the embodiment of this character, as well as the consequence of the development of this figure in Russian art as a satellite character.

Powers, Claire, Erin Borgman, Daniel Doak, Erin Borgman, Daniel Doak, and Claire Powers. Climate and species traits shape responses of alpine flora in the US Rocky Mountains to a changing world: Analysis of five GLORIA sites across the southern Rockies. National Park Service, 2024. https://doi.org/10.36967/2306920.

Full text
Abstract:
The Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments (GLORIA) is a world-wide network of sites dedicated to monitoring changes in alpine flora near mountain tops. In this project we analyzed data collected at 5 sets of GLORIA monitoring sites in the Rocky Mountains of the western USA. Each site was visited between 2 and 4 times in the years spanning 2003 to 2021. These sites include four National Parks (Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Rocky Mountain National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Glacier National Park) and one wilderness area in the Pecos Wilderness within Santa Fe National Forest. We focused on testing the climatic sensitivity of the alpine flora as a whole, and the relative responsiveness of plant species based upon their commonness or rarity, their geographic ranges, and other aspects of their life forms and of site characteristics. We find that across all sites and species there is strong evidence for turnover of the flora in the GLORIA sampling areas, with rare species disproportionately increasing over time and common species generally declining. We also find that graminoids and shrubs have increased more than forbs, as has been found or suggested in other studies. Multiple climate variables have significant influence on changes in plant cover. In particular, higher annual precipitation increases abundance, on average. Lower growing season precipitation, higher growing degree days (reflecting both warmer temperatures and more days of higher temperatures), and higher mean temperatures also lead to increasing abundance. Also, species with lower latitudinal ranges tended to increase more over time, while species with more northerly ranges often declined. Within these general trends there are substantial differences between species, as indicated by random species-level effects, but there were no strong patterns in these effects that would suggest additional generalizations between species groups. Beyond our findings regarding the drivers of alpine plant dynamics, we examined factors that could potentially add bias or uncertainty to the data sets and made recommendations regarding data collection going forward. Among these suggestions are: 1) that all the NPS GLORIA teams consider consulting with previous species lists when performing field surveys; 2) that redundant temperature data loggers be deployed by at least two team members at each plot; and 3) that a careful training protocol be developed to better standardize cover estimation across parks and censuses. We expand on these recommendations at the end of report.
