Abstract:
Little is currently known about the cognitive processes entrepreneurs engage in as they develop and implement strategies. A computer simulation was used to investigate this question. Repeated measures regression analysis indicated that participants using a learning goal were able to keep their simulated firms running longer than those using a performance outcome goal. Strategy mediated the relationship between task-specific self-efficacy and performance. Conversely, task-specific self-efficacy mediated the relationship between strategy use and performance. General self-efficacy added explanatory power to firm survival, even after controlling for the effects of specific self-efficacy. Limitations and implications for future research are discussed.

Abstract:
Three studies tested the role of prioritization in solving conflict between multiple goals in different age groups. Study 1 (N = 185 young, middle-aged, older adults) stressed the importance to solve two competing tasks equally well within a short time. Older adults prioritized more than younger adults. However, contrary to our expectations, prioritization led to higher perceived conflict, more negative affect, and less control. Study 2 (N = 117 younger and older adults) found that, using a more lenient instruction, deemphasizing the importance of performing equally well on both tasks, prioritization was no longer associated with perceived goal conflict. Study 3 (N = 721 young, middle-aged, older adults) was an online study using hypothetical scenarios. This study was run to substantiate the potential mechanism underlying the differences between Study 1 and 2 and supported the hypothesized effect of the instructional strictness of pursuing two goals. Thus, when encountering conflicting goals older adults prioritize more than younger adults, but prioritization might not be optimal for solving short-term goal conflict when both conflicting goals are equally important.

Abstract:
It is well established that goals energize and direct behaviour across the lifespan. To better understand how goals are embedded in people's lives across adulthood, the present research examined life goals’ content (health, personal growth, prosocial engagement, social relations, status, work), dynamics (interplay between goal importance and goal attainability), and outcomes (subjective well–being) from a developmental perspective. We argue that people rate those goals as important and attainable that enable them to master developmental tasks, that they adapt their goals to personal capacities, and that goals predict subjective well–being after 2 and 4 years. The sample included 973 individuals (18–92 years old, M = 43.00 years) of whom 637 participated 2 years later and 573 participated 4 years later. Goal importance and well–being were assessed at all occasions and goal attainability at the first two occasions. Results indicated that age was negatively associated with importance and attainability of personal–growth, status, and work goals but positively associated with importance and attainability of prosocial–engagement goals. The association between goal importance and attainability was largely bidirectional over time; and goal attainability, rather than goal importance, was positively linked to later well–being. Implications of these findings are discussed in light of adult lifespan development. © 2019 European Association of Personality Psychology

Abstract:
This research investigated goal setting on engineering teams with geographically dispersed members. A survey was designed to measure the Quality of Goal Setting, Goal Commitment, Perceived Task Outcomes, and Perceived Psychosocial Outcomes, all constructs and scales used in previous research on project teams. 82 respondents from 12 virtual teams participated. Analysis suggested the quality of goal setting affected Perceived Task Outcome ( t = 2.40, p<.05) but not Perceived Psychosocial Outcomes. Further regression analysis indicated goal commitment predicted significant variance in both Perceived Task Outcomes ( t = 2.35, p<.05) and Perceived Psychosocial Outcomes ( t = 4.3, p<.01). These results suggest that setting high quality goals and building commitment to goals significantly affect perceptions of outcomes on virtual project teams.

Abstract:
The mission is a certain formulation of the economic future of the organization and occupies the first position in the hierarchy of the company’s goals. Virtually, it determines the main direction of the future development of the enterprise as a whole. The vision creates a sense of perspective in the organization’s activities and ensures the continuity of the organization’s subsequent goals. Each goal limits the scope of the organization’s actions, and the vision does not have a final milestone, it creates an impulse for continuous progress.

Abstract:
In contrast to a large body of goal-setting research, recent findings suggest that challenging goals may not be beneficial when effective task strategies are not readily identifiable. In such settings goals may stimulate excessive strategy search, degrading overall performance. Two alternative aids to developing effective task strategies (restricting search or providing training in search methods) were examined in a laboratory study. Ninety-four subjects performed a stock prediction task under conditions of specific, challenging, or "do your best" goals and different task strategy interventions. The results of analyses demonstrated that the benefits of the strategy interventions were realized only if subjects were given also a specific challenging goal. Implications for goal setting theory and research are discussed.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to develop and field test an instrument to assist in prioritizing adapted physical education goals. Nine goals were identified, and the paired-comparison technique was selected to examine beliefs concerning the relative importance of each goal. Data were collected from three samples representative of individuals who teach physical education to handicapped students and/or train others to do so. Findings indicated that the goal ranked as most important by each sample was not significantly different from those ranked as second and third in importance. Adapted physical educators consider many goals to be of equal importance. In general, motor skills, fitness, self-concept, and perceptual motor function/sensory integration are held in high esteem whereas creative expression is considered least important. Other goals are assigned intermediate importance. The Goals of Adapted Physical Education Scale (GAPES) is a valid and reliable instrument that offers promise for the further study of adapted physical education goals.

Abstract:
Context: Goal-setting is a key characteristic of modern rehabilitation. However, goals need to be meaningful and of importance to the client. Axioms: Both theories and empirical evidence support the importance of a hierarchy of goals: one or more overall goals that clients find personally meaningful and specific goals that are related to the overall goals. We posit that the client’s fundamental beliefs, goals and attitudes (“global meaning”) need to be explored before setting any rehabilitation goal. A chaplain or other person with similar skills can be involved in doing so in an open-ended way. The client’s fundamental beliefs, goals and attitudes serve as a point of departure for setting rehabilitation goals. Setting goals: We set out a three-stage process to set goals: (1) exploring the client’s global meaning (i.e. fundamental beliefs, goals and attitudes), (2) deriving a meaningful overall rehabilitation goal from the client’s global meaning and (3) setting specific rehabilitation goals that serve to achieve the meaningful overall rehabilitation goal. Conclusion: This is an extension of current practice in many rehabilitation teams, which may help counter the drive toward exclusively functional goals based around independence.

Abstract:
This paper investigates how the importance attached to personal goals differs according to the person’s independent or interdependent self. Results of one questionnaire study and two priming studies showed that, overall, independents considered their goals more important than interdependents. A closer analysis revealed, however, that interdependents assigned more relevance to social goals (e.g., harmony with others), than to individual goals (e.g., to be successful), whereas independents attached equal importance to both types of goals.

Abstract:
One of the main UN Summit 2015 outcomes is the adoption of global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) built on achievements of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to guide the path of sustainable development in the world after 2015. World leaders gathered at the United Nations to take responsibility for the implementation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals – a truly universal and transformative global development agenda. The article analyzes main common features and distinctions of SDGs and MDGs. It addresses priorities for the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development and primary SDG targets. The SDGs are intended to go beyond the MDGs and apply in general terms to all countries, including developed states, emerging economies and developing countries. At the same time, examining the main achievements of MDGs on national and international levels, the authors stress their importance. SDGs provide a framework for every country to create focused and effective implementation strategies and plans within its own domestic context. The article demonstrates the importance for Russian Federation under its UN obligations to elaborate two documents: Sustainable Development Strategy of the Russian Federation and the 2030 SDGs adapted to national priorities. The authors develop main principles of SDGs adaptation to national priorities, conditionally dividing them into two groups: "internal" (combating poverty, education, health, sustainable production and consumption) – Russia has to realize them drawing on its own potential, and "external" (combating climate change, enhancing a global partnership for sustainable development) – Russia can play an important role in the world coordinating with other countries. The article, while demonstrating the importance of climate change issues for Russia after weather and climatic anomalies caused huge social, economic and ecological damages, discusses possible economic tools, such as carbon taxes, introducing the price of carbon, Stock Exchange for carbon trading. The article investigates two large components of global partnership support in international policy of the Russian Federation: financing the assistance to the international development, and forgiveness of considerable debts to developing countries. Abstract:
According to self-determination theory, an individual’s goal content and the processes involved in goal setting often represent the status of the individual’s mental health and well-being. When examining the importance placed on goal setting, an individual’s goals and aspirations are often synonymous with mental health and well-being. Aspiring to achieve intrinsic life goals has been associated with greater psychological well-being in literature. This study therefore aimed to establish the relationships between goals and aspirations, mental health behaviour (interpersonal relations, stress management, and spiritual growth), and psychological well-being (measured by positive affect). A sample of 457 secondary school learners in the Overberg Educational District, Western Cape, South Africa, participated in the study. The results suggest a significant positive relationship between placing importance on intrinsic goals and aspirations, and psychological well-being (as indicated by positive affect). However, psychological well-being was not correlated with mental health behaviour. The results of the hierarchical regression analysis suggest that importance placed on intrinsic goals and aspirations predicts psychological well-being and accounts for 8% of the variance. The results highlight the role of intrinsic goals and aspirations in predicting the psychological well-being of adolescents. The findings are supported by the theoretical assumptions of self-determination theory.

Abstract:
The United Nations' draft Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) only briefly mention mental health. In the context of a growing burden of disease due to mental disorders and psychosocial disabilities, the inclusion of a clear mental health target and indicators in the SDGs will acknowledge the needs and rights of hundreds of millions of people. It will mobilise international funding and policy development, and support other SDGs; it will also strengthen mental health structures, governance and services in low- and middle-income countries. We argue that for a just, sustainable and inclusive post-2015 development agenda, it is vital that the United Nations includes a clear mental health target and indicators in the SDGs.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the correspondence between the national development goals of the Russian Federation and the UN sustainable development goals in the field of ensuring the quality and accessibility of education. It has been substantiated that the implementation of sustainable development goals in Russia is of great importance for activities to achieve the country’s national goals and development priorities. A comparative analysis of the education system in Russia as a source and factor of socio-economic development and improving the population’s quality of life is carried out. An analysis of the comparison between SDG 4 and the national project “Education” led to the following conclusion: the consistency of national policy measures with plans to achieve SDG 4 depends, first of all, on political priorities and national interests of the country and requires intersectoral coordination in planning and monitoring the implementation of targeted activities. Analysis of the compliance of the development goals of Russia within the framework of the implementation of the national projects “Labor productivity and employment support” and “Small and medium-sized entrepreneurship and support of individual entrepreneurial initiative” and SDG 8 showed the importance of institutional and financial instruments, the active use of which in the Russian economy is facilitated by the significant changes in legislation. The problem of mismatch of indicators of the studied documents is determined. For these are no statistical data in the framework of the implementation of sustainable development goals. It is concluded that the national development goals of the Russian Federation in the field of ensuring the quality and accessibility of education are generally consistent with the UN sustainable development goals.

If the government attaches much importance to environment protection and pushes severe punishment on environment pollution, the hazardous chemicals transportation provider should consider two goals together: minimizing the individual transportation cost and minimizing the social transportation cost. Then this paper develops a goal programming model which contains two goals for the problem. Which goal is important will affect the objective function of this model. Through discussion on importance compare of two goals, this paper believes that government policy is very important to inspirit hazardous chemicals transportation providers complying with laws and protecting environment.

Abstract:
Drawing on the goals-plans-action (GPA) model and confirmation theory, this study explores associations between family members’ primary and secondary goals, planning (i.e., subgoals related to accomplishing the primary goal), and messages encouraging military service members (SMs) to seek behavioral health care. Family members ( N = 244) of SMs who had been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan described what they would say in a scenario where their SM was displaying mental health symptoms and provided importance ratings for primary and secondary goals as well as subgoals. Based on confirmation theory, messages were coded for levels of acceptance, challenge, and autonomy support. Primary goals predicted multiple dimensions of confirmation, both directly and indirectly through subgoals, but the direction of these effects often ran contrary to one another. Secondary goals also predicted confirmation after controlling for primary goal importance. Implications for the GPA model, confirmation theory, and programs that support military families are discussed.

Abstract:
It is expected that the quality of the working alliance between speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and persons who clutter matters. The term working alliance is an important concept in cluttering and stuttering treatment and can be described as the degree to which the therapy dyad is engaged in collaborative, purposive work. The concept includes, among other factors, a shared understanding of therapy goals and the relevance of the therapy approach to achieving those goals. There has been an increasing interest regarding research that supports the therapeutic relationship as an evidence-based component of interventions in speech-language pathology, and recent research ( Sønsterud et al., 2019 ) supports that a critical element for successful stuttering therapy lies, among other factors, in the concept of the working alliance. Purpose Although there is consensus that SLPs should openly and honestly discuss the individual's goals and expectations for therapy, personal motivation and the impact of the working alliance for people who clutter have not been investigated. This clinical focus article highlights the importance of open and honest discussion around not only the individual's goals for treatment but also the tasks or activities to be incorporated in that treatment. Relevant and specific quantitative and qualitative assessments for measuring the working alliance are required to investigate the concept of the working alliance in more detail. The Working Alliance Inventory–Short Revised version is regarded to be one useful tool to evaluate this client–clinician relationship. The Working Alliance Inventory–Short Revised version is quick and easy to use and explores the working alliance across the 3 processes of bond, goal, and task. Conclusion This clinical focus article contains no research results. Anyhow, some considerations on this concept, both from a person who clutters and SLP perspectives, are included in this clinical focus article. Research is required to investigate whether shared understanding of treatment goals, agreement on tasks, and a respectful and trustful bond may become important predictors for successful therapy outcome also for people who clutter.

Abstract:
Relationship education (RE) has been linked to several short- and longterm benefits; however, less is known about its effects on adolescents' overarching life-goals. This study utilized a multi-method approach to examine whether RE was linked to increases in the relative importance of intrinsic, as opposed to extrinsic, life-goals. Results demonstrated a statistically significant increase from pretest to posttest in the relative importance of intrinsic life-goals. Qualitative analysis identified themes relevant to intrinsic life-goals including differentiating between needs and wants and an increased focus on interpersonal functioning. Overall, results suggest RE may influence students' life-goals in beneficial ways.

Abstract:
ObjectivesQuality of care largely depends on successful teamwork, which in turn needs effective communication between health professionals. To communicate successfully in a team, health professionals need to strive for the same goals. However, it has been left largely unaddressed which goals professionals consider to be important. In this study, we aim to identify these goals and analyse whether differences between (1) personal and organisational goals, (2) different professions and (3) hierarchical levels exist in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).DesignGoals were identified based on a literature review and a workshop with health professionals and tested in a pilot study. Subsequently, in the main study, a cross-sectional employee survey was undertaken.Setting and participants1489 nurses and 537 physicians from 66 German NICUs completed the questionnaire regarding personal and organisational goal importance between May and July 2013. Answers were given based on a 7-point Likert scale varying between none and exceptionally high importance.ResultsResults show that the goals can be subdivided into three main goal dimensions: patients, parents and staff. Furthermore, our results reveal significant differences between different professions and different hierarchical level: physicians rated patient goals with a mean (95% CI) importance of 6.37 (3.32 to 6.43), which is significantly higher than nurses with a mean (95% CI) importance of 6.15 (6.12 to 6.19) (p<0.01). Otherwise, nurses classified parental goals as more important (p<0.01). Furthermore, professionals in leading positions rate patient goals significantly higher than professionals that are not in leading positions (6.36 (3.28 to 6.44) vs 6.19 (6.15 to 6.22), p<0.01).ConclusionsDifferent employee goals need to be considered in decision-making processes to enhance employee motivation and the effectiveness of teamwork.Trial registration numberDRKS00004589.

Abstract:
Research has neglected the utility of pro-social goals within achievement situations. In this article, four studies demonstrate that amity goal orientation, promoting mutual success of oneself together with others, enhances the utility of mastery goal orientation. We demonstrate this in longitudinally predicting performance (Studies 1 and 2) and in maintaining motivation after a disappointing performance (Studies 3 and 4). The studies demonstrate the same interaction effect in academic and in work achievement contexts. Specifically, whereas amity goal orientation did not predict achievement on its own, it enhanced the positive effect of mastery goal orientation. Together, these studies establish the importance of amity goal orientation while also advancing our understanding of the effects of other achievement goal orientations. We suggest future directions in examining the utility of amity goals in other contexts.

Abstract:
Penalties, free-kicks (direct-indirect), throw-ins, corner kicks and goal kicks are known to be as set-pieces. In this study; examination of set-pieces’ effects on scoring goals were targeted and, in this context, the competitions of Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup were analyzed. As a part of this study, 64 competitions of Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup were analyzed depending on penalties and set-pieces (free-kicks, corner kicks and throw-ins etc.) ending with goals. “E-Analyze Soccer” computer program were used to analyze the set-piece organizations in the competitions at the tournament. The findings were registered and interpreted via SPSS (18.0) program upon calculations of frequencies and percentages. 21 (%12.43) of the all goals scored in this tournament were from penalties, 23 (%13.61) from free-kicks, 22 (%13.02) from corner kicks and 2 (%1.18) from throw-ins. Throughout the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup, 169 goals were scored in total with an average of 2.64 goals per game and, 68 (%40.24) of all the goals were recorded as score following the set-pieces. In the tournament, 21 (%72.41) penalties out of 29 resulted with goals. A major part of the goals scored from corner kicks were completed via headings (%77.27) and rest with kicks (%22.73). A great amount of completing goal scoring kicks following corner kicks were recorded with right foot (%81.82) and the rest with left foot (%18.18). As a result, the goals scored after the set-pieces amongst the all goals scored during the World Cup are to be rather important to effect the game and to reserve a considerable place on the scoreboard. Thus, in order to achieve the success through the tournaments and to complete the competitions as aspired, the set-pieces’ effective use and, in defense, the countermeasures to exercise against the set-pieces of opponent teams emerges as a crucial matter. Hereby, it is momentously suggested to accommodate more tactical trainings about set-pieces during the trainings as it might most likely to contribute a lot to team performance. Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file.

Abstract:
We investigated whether partners in newly developing romantic relationships adjust their goals when they experience conflict with the goals of their partner, and the consequences of goal conflict and goal adjustment. Fifty-nine newly dating couples ( N = 118) reported on their goals at an initial session and again 3 months later. Multilevel models indicated that when people reported higher conflict between a goal and their partner’s goals, they were more likely to stop pursuing as well as to devalue the importance of that particular goal over time. Furthermore, goal devaluing was associated with increases in relationship commitment over time but decreases in women’s relationship satisfaction when their partners devalued conflicting goals. Overall levels of goal conflict were associated with marginal decreases in relationship satisfaction. These results indicate that romantic partners try to adjust their goals to reduce goal conflict even in developing relationships, and that these adjustments have consequences for relationship satisfaction and commitment.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis study reviews theory and results from developmental psychology to examine age differences in workplace achievement goals. We investigated whether goal level decreases with age and, by comparing the relative strength of different goals within individuals, we examined whether dominant achievement goals are related to age. In a large sample of employees (N=747), older workers' higher affective commitment and intrinsic motivation compensated for age-related decline in the importance of achievement goals. Whether learning-approach and learning-avoidance were dominant goals was not related to age but instead to skill level, affective commitment and intrinsically satisfying work. Dominant performance-approach goals were more common among males. Performance-avoidance was most likely to be a dominant goal among older males. Moreover, with age, performance-goal orientations had increasingly maladaptive consequences for self-efficacy and affect at work.

Abstract:
This study assessed the relationship between students’ growth goals and perceived opportunities to achieve these goals in Latvia and the perceived support from the university and the mesosystem. Socialization models emphasize that the setting of personal goals occurs in continuous interaction with the sociocultural context, which includes perceived opportunities to achieve these goals and the interpersonal environment. Both – perceived support from close people (mesosystems) and perceived support from the university – are significant for students. The study involved 432 university students between 18 and 49. We have assessed the extent to which students’ goals regarding education, work, and personal growth are predicted by perceived opportunities to achieve these goals in Latvia and by the perceived support from parents, relatives, friends, classmates, teachers, and the university as an institution. The results of structural equation modeling revealed that personal growth goals are positively predicted by all three elements - the perceived opportunities to achieve these goals and the perceived academic and mesosystem support. The support of the classmates was connected to the support of the mesosystem that indicates the importance of friendly relations among students. Students’ growth goals were the most closely associated with the perceived support in their specific environment – the university. In general, the results confirm the complex interaction of personal growth goals with the social and cultural environment in particular circumstances.

Abstract:
The current study aimed to identify the degree of importance of life goals and the achievement of these goals among gifted adults in Jordan in the main fields of life goals, and if there are statistically significant differences in the degree of importance and the level of achievement of life goals due to gender and degree of religiosity. The study sample consisted of (80) gifted graduates’ adults from Jubilee school graduates, whose ages range from (26-41). The descriptive-survey method was used to achieve study goals. The results indicated that all life goals were of high importance to the respondents, regardless of gender. Significant differences were identified in the achievement of life goals attributed to the gender variable in favor of females. The result also showed no fundamental differences in the degree of importance of life goals attributed to the degree of religiosity. The study results revealed that gifted adults focus mainly on achieving goals and professional success, and they achieve themselves through the profession. They see that a promising future means career success and economic power enables them to achieve life goals related to their partner and family. Abstract:
By relying on the taxonomy introduced by Kotlar and De Massis (2013), the present study proposes to investigate the dynamics and the set of goals perceived by the family members strategic for the future growth of their family business. Using an interview approach, the researchers recorded the professional stories of 15 family firm owners and managers. Through the interpretation of the narrative material emerged that the interviewees never mentioned the role that family-centred non-economic goals (i.e., ‘family harmony’, the ‘family social status’ and ‘the family identity’) plays in the performance of the family firms. Contrary, non-family non-economic goals, such as innovation and internationalisation, are considered two keys growth drivers. In particular, if both innovation and internationalisation have equal importance amongst the current goals, internationalisation assumes a greater importance in relation to the future goals of growth.
