Goblet cells are one of the three fully differentiated lineages in human colonic crypts. They play an important role in protecting epithelial cells from direct contact with luminal contents by secreting mucus, which consists of MUC2, TFF3 and other constituents. Up to fifty percent of contact lens wearers discontinue from lens wear as a result of symptoms of dry eye. Using a high power confocal microscope specially adapted for examining the eye, the candidate observed that contact lens wear is associated with a reduction in the number of mucus-secreting conjunctival goblet cells, which means that the eye is less well lubricated, leading to discomfort during blinking. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) comprises diseases that are characterized by chronic or relapsing inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is an extraintestinal manifestation in IBD. Immunoreactivity against an autoantigen that is expressed both in the gastrointestinal tract and the biliary tract could be the link between these diseases. Dobijeni rezultati su pokazali da akrilamid ne naru&scaron;ava morfologiju zida creva, ali dovodi do promena u volumenskoj gustini njegovih tunika i lamina.
