Abstract:
AbstractBy analysing primary sources, I show in this paper how the Vipassanā meditation movement publicly objects to being categorized as a religious movement that teaches a certain form of ritual. I argue that the application of the meta-language terms "ritual" or "religion" to the practices taught by this movement, even though it is doubtlessly possible, does not help us solve the problems in explaining this fact; nor does it help in analysing the movement and its history. I argue that it is more appropriate to understand the polemic differentiation by Vipassanā as a strategy in a "modern" p

ABSTRACT The impacted maxillary incisor is rare and detrimental for problems related to esthetics and occlusion in permanent dentition stage. The diagnosis of an impacted incisor with dilaceration refers to a dental deformity characterized by an angulation between the crown and the root, causing noneruption of the incisor. The most common cause of dilaceration in a tooth is trauma to its primary predecessor like avulsions, intrusions, or gross displacement of primary incisors. This study presents a case with overretained mobile deciduous teeth that were diagnosed radiographically with an impac

Abstract Scattering o f small potassium clusters by water molecules has been studied in a molecular beam experiment for the first time. In the size range up to eight atom s, trends for cross sections have been obtained by investigating low energy collisions. Significant differences in relative cross sections can be assigned to inelastic collisions. As in case o f scattering o f sodium clusters by argon (Goerke, A. et al., J. Chem. Phys. 98, 9653 (1993)), rotational excitation of the clusters seems to be the dominating interaction.

ABSTRACT In Staphylococcus aureus strains of human origin, phages which integrate into the chromosomal gene coding for β-hemolysin (hlb) are widely distributed. Most of them encode accessory virulence determinants such as staphylokinase (sak) or enterotoxins. Here, we analyzed the effects of ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim on phage induction and expression of phage-encoded virulence factors by using isolates from patients with cystic fibrosis for which the induction of hlb-converting phages was demonstrated in vivo (C. A pool of fish species in a Niger Delta tidal creek, Buguma Creek, Nigeria, collected monthly from November 2004 to June 2006, at flood tides, were examined for gastrointestinal helminth parasites. The fish species were caught with hooks and lines and cast nets. Only nematode parasites were encountered in the study. Of the 1,149 fish specimens examined, 213 (representing 18.5%) were infected with various nematodes parasites. Dasyatis margarita had the highest prevalence rate of 66.7% (2 infected out of 3 examined), followed by Pseudotolithus (Pseudotolithus) senegalensis with a prevalence of 4
