ABSTRACT The Golden Proportion has been considered perfect, ideal, and desirable, and it has been used for many years by engineers and architects in studying beauty and in designing patterns and proportions. It has been proposed that the golden proportion is a useful tool for the evaluation of symmetry, dominance, and proportion in the diagnosis of tooth arrangement and in the application of esthetic dental treatment. The golden proportion is an element of design that a dental surgeon should be aware of. An understanding of this enigmatic proportion that has long stood for beauty may provide u

The Golden Ratio House is primarily an architectural object constructed from a cube, which is the necessary point of origin for this project. Similar to the rules of invention, its purpose lies in its own making. Its rational construction, using the proportion of the golden ratio, produces an autonomous form. The golden number or divine proportion was defined by Euclid. It is sometimes claimed that it was used in classical architecture, but it is not mentioned by Vitruvius, so this seems unlikely. The illustrations for Luca Pacioli’s book The Divine Proportion were drawn by Leonardo. The golden number is related to the structure of polyhedra with five-fold symmetry. Chapter 13 considers some of the properties of the regular and semi-regular or Archimedean polyhedra, and also considers the suggestion that the pupil in the famous painting of Luca Pacioli is a young Albrecht Dürer.

The regional assessment of the fauna of gall-forming arthropods on the vegetation of urban ecosystems in North Ossetia indicates a significant distribution of pests. Ticks with the prevalence of 62.5% dominate in the structure of phytophagans of the studied plants in Vladikavkaz. The proportion of gall-forming insects is 37.5%. Of the 25 species of studied plants, 8 are susceptible to arthropod attack. Gall-forming insects infect laminas of two types of trees and one type of shrub. Thus, the willow gall sawfly (Pontania proxima) was identified on the goat wi

The Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) inhabits the Mojave and Colorado Deserts in the southwestern United States. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) spans the Colorado River corridor in Arizona and Nevada and sits at an ecologically important intersection of the listed and unlisted Mojave tortoise populations. A large portion of the Lake Mead NRA contains suitable desert tortoise habitat, but no contemporary estimates of population densities exist for different areas of the recreation area.
