The administration and scoring procedures for the Articulation of the Body-concept Scale and the Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test were adapted to assess 3- to 8-yr.-old children's magnitude of field-dependence/independence. 300 3- to 5-yr.-old and 480 6- and 8-yr.-old children were administered the appropriate forms of the Embedded Figures Test, Articulation of the Body-concept Scale, and Goodenough-Harris Drawing Test. High reliability and validity estimates were found using a variety of procedures. Scores on these tests were correlated with each other to find the relationships among the tests

Abstract:
Since the discovery that children's human figure drawings followed a clear developmental progression with increasing age, they have been used extensively as estimates of intelligence. From its development in 1926, the Goodenough Draw-a-Man Test provided psychologists and educators with a simple mental age score of a child's cognitive maturity. Its attraction lay in the fact that the test's non-verbal nature and brevity allowed it to be used with those whose language skills or attention span was problematic. In 1963, Harris revised the Draw-a-Man and published his work as the Goodenough-Harris D

204 children (106 boys and 98 girls) attending a Federally sponsored summer program for migrant children were the participants. About equal numbers of boys and girls at each of six ages between 7 and 12 yr. were administered the Goodenough-Harris Test, a revised version of the Children's Embedded Figures Test, and Cattell's Culture-Fair Intelligence Test. Significant correlations were found for embedded figures with Draw-A-Person scores and age. Culture-Fair IQs were significantly correlated with scores on the other two tests, but sex-related differences were not observed.

A comparison of raw scores obtained by two different modes of administering the Harris Revision of the Goodenough Draw-A-Man Test was made. Forty adolescents, 20 boys and 20 girls, computer naive and matched for age and school grade, completed the drawing test by the traditional paper-and-pencil mode and through a computerized administration. Employing an ABBA design to balance sequence effects, analysis indicated no significant correlation between the scores attained on the two differential modes for boys, girls, and all subjects. Although researchers have used drawings of the human figure to evaluate body-image in adults and children, test measures of the concepts involved have not been precisely constructed, so the purpose of this study was to estimate the body-image concept relations measured on the Goodenough-Harris Draw-a-Person Test and on the Prueba para Diagnóstico de Imagen Corporal—Universidad Nacional for 90 kindergarten, first and second graders. Factor analyses (sex by grade, 2 × 3; and sex by age, 2 × 7) showed that sex was not a significant factor on either measure, but grade and age were. A Pearson corre

Applying Constructivist and Latent Trait theoretical perspectives the aim, in particular, was to examine the psychometric properties of the test and the human figure drawings in general, and to investigate whether a more culturally, socially and educationally relevant prototype Human Figure Drawing Continuum (HFDC) could be constructed.
