Mature economies may experience fluctuations, but the average medium and long run growth rate matches the natural rate. Like Kaldor's neo-Keynesian models, the Marx-Goodwin tradition explains this outcome by endogenizing the distribution of income and assuming that the accumulation of capital is increasing as a function of the profit share. The application of Goodwin cycles to developing economies may be hard to justify, however. The modified Goodwin models in this paper include relative-wage norms as a central element of wage formation. Norms change endogenously, leading to path dependence (h

The impact of goodwill on financial statements has attracted attention from all walks of life. The huge impairment of goodwill in A-shares at the end of 2018 made goodwill once again the focus of discussion and research. The uncertainty of accounting estimates for the subsequent measurement of goodwill and the complexity of the impairment testing process have long brought greater difficulties to financial accounting and CPA auditing. This article selects the audit reports of A-share listed companies as a sample, and analyzes the main audit response measures for goodwill impairment matters list

The economic model which deals with the economic cycle is Goodwin's Model. It presents the relationship between the employment rate and wage shares. In this study, the modification model was made, taking into three types of workers, namely high, medium, and low-skilled workers. Studies of the model are conducted by determining the equilibrium point and its stability analysis. Furthermore, a numerical simulation is given to see which model satisfies the ideal of Goodwin‘s model cycle prediction by using Indonesian data from 2000 to 2020. SummaryThe Mental Capacity Act 2005 is a critical statute law for psychiatrists in England and Wales. Its best interests provision is fundamental to substitute decision-making for incapacitated adults. It prescribes a process of and gives structure to substitute decision-making. The participation of the incapacitated adult must be encouraged where practicable. In addition to this, ‘the best interests checklist’ must be applied in every case before a practitioner can arrive at a reasonable belief that the action or decision taken on behalf of an incapacitated adult is in his best interests. Abstract:
This paper aims to explain the causes of the 2018/2019 Argentinian crisis by means of a growth cycle model a la Goodwin, where the aggregate demand is wage-led, the wage-share is predatory of the external sector, and the financial norm stands as an exogenous apex-predator of both real wages and the current account. Its main results allow us to understand the stylized facts of the Argentinian economy: a higher financial norm increases inequality and required current account surpluses, reduces stability, and increases volatility and recessions length.

Abstract:
SummaryGoodwin's well-known growth cycle model has been rejected by Keynesians because it fails to take product disequilibria into account and gives rise to cycles which are much longer than observable business cycles. In the present article it is shown that cycles of much shorter duration can be obtained if the Goodwin model is modified by taking reactions to product market disequilibria into account. While shifts in income distribution between wages and profits remain the cycle maker, the modifications intensify the profit squeeze (and profit recovery) and thus speed up the cyclical process.

Some regions of the United Kingdom present more fertile grounds for consecutive incarnations of extreme right parties than others. In a study by Goodwin et al., the authors found evidence of the legacy effect, where an earlier cycle of activism by the National Front (NF), an extreme right political party active in the 1970s, emerged as a strong and significant predictor of membership in the British National Party (BNP) three decades later. The perennial controversy in business combinations accounting and its dialectic with stakeholders’ interests under the complexity of the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) activity is the centrepiece of analysis in this thesis. It is argued here that the accounting regulation should be as neutral as possible for the economic activity, although it is recognised that accounting changes may result in economic effects. In the case of the changes for business combinations accounting in the USA, lobbying was so fierce that in order to achieve the abolition of accounting choice in M&A accounting, it forc

Subversion can be subtle, expressed with humor and through play, but transgressions can also evolve into open defiance, such as work stoppages and labor strikes. While Canada lacks general statutory protection for major events, it maintains ongoing legal provisions specifically for future Olympic Games. Canadian trade mark law stands apart with its focus on ‘wares and services’, strict definitions of use, and requirements for visual perceptibility and intended use. BackgroundCare recipients in care and welfare are increasingly presenting themselves with complex needs (Huber et al., 2016). An answer to this is the integrated organization of care and welfare in a way that personalized care is the measure (Topol, 2016). The reality, however, is that care and welfare are still mainly offered in a standardized, specialized and fragmented way. This imbalance between the need for care and the supply of care not only leads to under-treatment and over-treatment and thus to less (experienced) quality, but also entails the risk of mis-treatment, which means that pa
