Abstract:

The New Zealand hairworms (Nematomorpha: Gordioidea) Gordius dimorphus n.sp., Euchordodes nigromaculatus n.sp., and Gordionus diblastus (Örley) are described or redescribed as parasites of the stenopelmatid (Orthoptera) genera Deinacrida, Hemiandrus, Zealandosandrus, and Hemideina. Hairworm larvae are described from aquatic insect paratenic hosts. It is assumed that when these hosts are eaten by wetas, the parasites invade the body cavity of the latter and develop to maturity. On the basis of biogeographical and paleontological evidence it is likely that weta parasitism by hairworms extends ba

The species Haplotaxis gordioides (Hartmann, 1821), from the family Haplotaxidae (Oligochaeta), was found for the first time in a lowland, potamon-type river (Sava River, Serbian sector) in 2002. This new record adds to our knowledge of the range and spreading of the given species. .

A new species, Chordodes colchis, is described from several locations in Georgia. The species resembles some other Chorodes species, especially C. anthophorus, which has also been described from Georgia, but differs in conspicuous details. The new species possesses prominent thorn areoles, which were not described in C. anthophorus. The new species is the seventh species known from Georgia.

Gordius chiashanus sp. nov., a newly described horsehair worm that parasitizes the Spirobolus millipede, is one of the three described horsehair worm species in Taiwan. It is morphologically similar to G. helveticus Schmidt-Rhaesa, 2010 because of the progressively broadening distribution of bristles concentrated on the male tail lobes, but it is distinguishable from G. helveticus because of the stout bristles on the mid-body. Haplotaxis is a genus of aquatic oligochaetes for which only limited information is available on its taxonomy, distribution, habitat and diet.
