Abstract:
The performance of reinforced concrete structures under combined effects of blast and fire is growing in interest of the research and engineering communities specially after the recent terrorist attacks as well as severe accidents (i.e. Gotthard tunnel, etc.). The mechanical behaviour of concrete and reinforcing steel when are subjected to extreme temperatures, impacts or blast has still many aspects open to investigation. In this paper the behaviour of AISI304, B500B and B500A reinforcing steel at high strain rate (500 s-1) and at three levels of temperature (200, 400 and 600°C) is presented.

The film Fracture Phenomena in Glass is a noteworthy case of a film reuse: it was published in the Encyclopaedia Cinematographica (EC) in 1976, bearing the signature E 2355. In this instance, surprisingly, the Institut für den Wissenschaftlichen Film (Institute for Scientific Film [IWF]), which produced, edited, distributed, and archived the EC films, reused ballistic film recordings from World War II. Produced at the Ballistic Institute of the Berlin-Gatow Air War Academy in 1942–1943 under the direction of Hubert Schardin, they were first published in 1944 as C 433 by the National

The title of the paper is not associated with the exotic show of a circus with the trained, capable of making the photos mole, but with the movie by Dalia Survilaitė The Mole, which is narrating the story of the poet, musician and blind from the birth photographer Remigijus Audiejaitis, who was tragically killed in the fire. The paper discusses the seemingly oxymoronic phenomena – the intention of the blind to express his experience by media, which he could experience himself only by using the ekphrasis device – by retelling the visual by words – or by using more complicated techniques of figu

Abstract:
The dissertation undertakes an extensive investigation of the role of the gesture – from Lessing to emoji. Through close readings of bodily gestures as inscribed in text, documented on film, employed in performance, and shared throughout the cyberspace, the dissertation demonstrates how the human body has been imagined, conceptualized, and disciplined at various points since the second half of the 18th century. Presenting a reading of the body through the lens of different media, the analyses bring forth moments of disidentification and friction between medium and body: be that in gestural d
