Abstract:
Gotu kola (Centella asiatica L.) is empirically used as a medicinal plant and scientifically it can be used to treat various diseases based on the results of the Scientification of Herbal Medicine. Gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica L.) is one of the potential medicinal plants that can be used as herbal medicine because it contains various kinds of nutritious compounds. Because of the many benefits of gotu kola leaves, it is necessary to standardize the extract to ensure the quality associated with the identity substance, and the composition of the chemical content whose specifications are stated in the monograph as a quality requirement listed in Materia Medika Indonesia. Standardization includes organoleptic test, identification of chemical content, determination of water soluble extract content, ethanol soluble extract content and other tests, namely seeing the activity of gotu kola as an antidiabetic. The results and data on the characteristics of the specific parameters indicated that the extracts made had met the requirements of the herbal pharmacopoeia, which means that the ethanolic extract of gotu kola had met the standards, and based on activity testing it was known that the leaf of gotu kola (Centella asiatica L.) was efficacious as antidiabetic.

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition caused by sebaceous follicles and characterized by skin inflammation in the form of a buildup of bacteria and oil that clogs pores and causes acne. Centella asiatica (L.) Urb., often known as gotu kola, has antibacterial properties that inhibit Propionibacterium acnes, thereby reducing papules, pustules, and nodules. Antioxidants, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid found in gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.) can treat wounds. Skin damaged by acne can be repaired and rejuvenated with gotu kola antioxidants, which also help collagen formation more quickly in the skin. This research aims to examine the ability of gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urb.) extract to inhibit acne-causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) resulting from a literature review. This research method is a literature review or literature review. Research journals that met the inclusion criteria (activity test results suppressing bacterial growth activity) were collected, and a journal summary was made. A summary of the research journals is included in the table sorted by the year of publication of the journal. Abstract:
Antioxidants have an important role in inhibiting free radicals, where free radicals can cause a hereditary disease. Natural medicines that are efficacious as an antioxidant are Gotu kola and kelor leaves. This study aimed to obtain the potential antioxidant compounds in Gotu kola herb extract, kelor leaves extract and the combination using the DPPH method. This research was started by extracting simplicia with 96% ethanol, followed by preparing combination of Gotu kola extract and moringa extract ratio (1:1), (1:2), (1:3), (2:1), (3:1) which was carried out at a concentration of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 µl/mL. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity was tested by UV Vis spectrophotometry. Results showed that the IC50 value for the Gotu kola herb extract was 76.66 ± 0.56. Kelor leaves extract 82.66 ± 2.32, a combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (1:1) 74.07 ± 1.16, a combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (1:2) 86.56 ± 1.11, a combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (1:3) 65.09 ± 3.03, a combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (2:1) 56.65 ± 1.61, a combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (3:1) 67.58 ± 2.77. The best potential antioxidant activity was showed in the combination of Gotu kola: Moringa (2:1).

Abstract:
Background: The gotu kola plant (Centella asiatica) is one of the herbal ingredients used throughout the world. This plant contains triterpenoids and saponins which have broad therapeutic functions. Streptococcus pneumoniae has become a global problem that causeing community acquired pneumonia the most in the world. Our study investigate further the antibacterial activity of ethanol extract of Centella asiatica leaves to inhibit Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. Methods: The Kirby-Bauer method was used to test the antibacterial activity of gotu kola (Centella asiatica) extract in this study. This is done by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zone and its standard deviation. Results: In the positive control group of Vancomycin 30 µg, the diameter of the inhibition zone was found to be 26.7 mm, 27.15 mm and 28.05 mm. At concentrations of 25%, 50% and 75% of gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica) ethanol extract, no antibacterial activity was found. Meanwhile, inhibition zone diameters of 8.3 mm, 8.4 mm, and 8.1 mm were found in the ethanol extract of gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica) with a concentration of 100%. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, the concentration of 100% ethanol extract of gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica) has antimicrobial activity but is unable to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria. Latar Belakang: Tanaman pegagan (Centella asiatica) merupakan salah satu bahan herbal yang digunakan di seluruh dunia. Tanaman ini memiliki kandungan utama triterpenoid dan saponin yang berfungsi sebagai terapeutiknya yang luas. Streptococcus pneumoniae adalah bakteri yang secara historis menjadi patogen paling umum yang menyebabkan pneumonia komunitas di seluruh dunia. Penelitian mengevaluasi lebih lanjut terkait aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun pegagan terhadap bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae. Metode: Metode Kirby-Bauer digunakan untuk pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak pegagan (Centella asiatica) pada penelitian ini. Hal ini dilakukan dengan mengukur diameter zona hambat dan standar deviasinya. Hasil: Pada kelompok kontrol positif Vancomycin 30 µg, ditemukan diameter zona hambat sebesar 26,7 mm, 27,15 mm, dan 28,05 mm. Pada konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun pegagan 25%, 50%, dan 75% tidak ditemukan aktivitas antibakteri. Sedangkan, diameter zona hambat sebesar 8,3 mm, 8,4 mm, dan 8,1 mm ditemukan pada ekstrak etanol daun pegagan (Centella asiatica) konsentrasi 100%. Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun pegagan (Centella asiatica) 100% mampu menunjukan aktivitas antimikroba tetapi tidak dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) and gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.)) contain phenolic compounds. The phenolic compounds in butterfly pea flowers are anthocyanins, while in gotu kola, there are flavonoids and tannins. Butterfly flower extract and gotu kola extract have certain concentrations of SPF values in the maximum category. This research aimed to determine the results of the irritation test of sunscreen stick preparations of butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) and gotu kola (Centella Asiatica (L.)). This research uses an experimental approach with a true experimental design. Stick preparations are divided into formulations with a combination of active ingredients of butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea (L.)) at a concentration of 2% or 3%, and gotu kola extract (Centella asiatica (L.)) at a concentration of 7% or 8%. The optimal formulation of the preparation is adjusted to the evaluation results and specified requirements. The research showed that sunscreen sticks with two different formulations were applied to the skin 2.5 cm wide and then left for 1 hour to determine whether the skin began to show signs of irritation, such as redness, swelling, or itching. This irritation test was carried out on 20 volunteers, then observed for 3 days, and showed that the formulation of 2 sunscreen stick preparations did not irritate

Objective: This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of gotu kola herb using the DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-pikrilhidrazil) method. with IC50 value. Method: Gotu kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) was extracted by the soxhletation method using 96% ethanol solvent. The testing of antioxidant activity was carried out using the DPPH (2.2 Diphenyl-1-Pikrihydrazil) method. Result: Test results of antioxidant activity The ethanol extract of gotu kola herb showed an IC50 value of 78.20 ppm. Conclusion: This indicated that the ethanol extract of gotu kola herb was included in the criteria for strong antioxidants.

Gotu kola (Centella Asiatica) contains the active ingredients alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, steroids and triterpenoids. Three bioactive groups, namely triterpenoids, steroids and saponins, are antioxidants that are beneficial for the health of the human body. The aim of this research is to identify the phytochemical content, total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity in gotu kola (Centella Asiatica) leaves with different solvent concentrations. The type of research is Qualitative and Quantitative with an Experimental laboratory research design carried out at the Itkessu Pharmaceutical Laboratory. The results of the phytochemical screening identified that pegagan (Centella Asiatica) leaves were positive for containing alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, triterpenoids and saponins at both solvent concentrations. The UV-Vis results showed that the total flavonoid content in gotu kola (Centella Asiatica) leaves was 31.6271 mg QE/Gr for 70% ethanol and 21.7821 mg QE/Gr for 96% ethanol, while the IC50 value was 53.2210 ppm for 70% ethanol and 61.7269 ppm for 96% ethanol.

ABSTRACT Gotu Kola Leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) are known to contain flavonoid compound, and flavonoid are known to decrease blood glucose level by stimulating pancreas beta cells to produce insulin. The aim of this research is to find out wether the ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) has the antidiabetic effectiveness or not. This research used Completely Randomized Design method. There were 15 rats used in this research that were split into 5 groups that is negative control (Aquadest), positive control (Metformin), and ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf with the dosage of 5.4 mg;10.8 mg;21.6 mg. The acquired data were analyzed with ANOVA test and LSD test. The analysis result showed that ethanol extract of gotu kola leaf had antidiabetic effectiveness against male white rat. Keywords: Centella asiatica (L.) Urban, antidiabetic, Rattus norvegicus ABSTRAK Daun Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) diketahui mengandung zat flavonoid, dimana flavonoid telah diketahui mempunyai kemampuan menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dengan merangsang sel beta pankreas untuk memproduksi insulin. Tikus yang digunakan sebanyak 15 ekor dan dibagi dalam 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (aquadest), kontrol positif (metformin), dan ekstrak etanol daun pegagan dengan dosis 5,4 mg; 10,8 mg; 21,6 mg. Data yang ada dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji ANOVA dan uji LSD. Hasil analisis menujukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun pegagan memiliki efektivitas antidiabetes terhadap tikus putih jantan (Rattus norvegicus). Kata kunci: Centella asiatica (L.) This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity from hand and body lotion extract of gotu kola by DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl) method which is expressed as an IC50 value. Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) was extracted by the soxhletation method using a solvent etanol 96% and formulated in the from of hand and body lotion using variations of gotu kola extract concentrations of 1%, 3% and 5%. Then do a physical evaluation of three preparations of hand and body lotion to determine the best formula to be tested for antioxidant activity. Hand and body lotion preparation formula with as much gotu kola extract concentration 5% shows the best formula. The results of testing antioxidant activity on hand and body lotion showed IC50 value of 449.14 ppm. This indicates that the Antioxidant activity of gotu kola extract hand and body lotion is included in the very weak antioxidant criteria.
