Abstract:
Abstract This article discusses the traditional irrigation system in the oases of Touat, Gourara and Tidikelt. Since centuries, farmers use the system of foggaras for irrigation of palm groves and gardens. The results obtained following the inquiries and investigations carried out on the sites of foggaras, showed that since the eighties, drilling works multiplied in the oases of Touat, Gourara and Tidikelt. However, despite the application of these new techniques of water catchment, farmers still irrigate their gardens by traditional methods. For social, economic and environmental problems, foggaras degrade more and more; 50% of the foggaras decayed. Currently, the discharge of foggaras in service greatly diminished. The adoption of modern catchment techniques entails to the lowering of the water table.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this article, we studied, for the first time, the foggaras of Saoura. Five missions were carried out in the oases of Kerzaz, Lahmar, Boukais, Beni Ounif, Ouakda, and Beni Abbes during the years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. The first results showed that there was a difference between the foggaras of Touat and those of Saoura. The galleries of Saoura are much shorter than those of Touat and Gourara. On the contrary, the distribution of water from the Touat and Gourara foggaras is carried out per unit volume, whereas from the Saoura foggaras per unit time. The foggaras we visited are practically in a degraded condition. The contribution of modern technology (pumps and wells) in the oases of Saoura is the principal cause of the decline of the hydraulic system millennium.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes for the first time an original foggara, different from the classical foggara (foggara of Gourara) which collects water from the Intercalary Continental aquifer. Located in the middle of the Mzab River, this hydraulic system called the Mzab foggara is intended to exploit the flood waters. Two missions were carried in 2009 and 2010 in the Mzab Valley to describe the hydraulic system. The Mzab foggara constitutes of a gallery of ovoid form 200 m long equipped with 9 air shafts and a 900 m long seguia. The foggara of the Mzab River can drain water flow of 5 m3·s-1 to irrigate western part of the palm plantation of Ghardaia (located 600 km south of Algiers).

Abstract:

Abstract:
Gourami (Osphronemus Gouramy) scales are one of the natural sources of collagen. This fish scale’s collagen has functional properties, such as bio-degradable (easily decomposed), bio-compatible (compatible with surrounding tissue), and potential as bio-adsorbent. The absorbent properties of collagen are currently used as a transport material in local drug delivery for periodontal disease treatment, which is known as tetracycline chip. However, this chip is made of synthetic collagen so it is not absorbable by the body’s system. The price is also expensive. This study’s aim is to prove the potency of Gourami scales as a source of collagen in medical treatment, especially as a transport material of tetracycline for periodontal disease treatment. The gourami scale was obtained from seafood restaurant in Jember, Jawa Timur. About 500 mg of gourami scales was immersed into 20 ml tetracycline solution in beaker glass. About 200 μl solution from the beaker glass was taken with micropipette after 1-hour, 2-hour, 4-hour, 12-hour and 24-hour after immersed. After that, the solution was collected into an eppendorf for each time. The absorbance was measured with spectrophotometer at 450 nm wave length. This procedure was repeated five times. The lowest absorbance occured at 1-hour time (160,6 μg/μl). The result from light and inverted microscope examination shows a bond between collagen from gourami scales with tetracycline. Gourami scale has the ability to absorb the highest rate of tetracycline at 1-hour immersed time by forming a bond between collagen and tetracycline.

Abstract:
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of banana (Musa paradisiaca) midrib extract supplementation as preventive and curative treatments of motile aeromonad septicemia (MAS) on giant gourami (Osphronemus gouramy). Disc diffusion assay was conducted to evaluate antibacterial activity of banana midrib extract against Aeromonas hydrophila. The most effective dose was used for subsequent tests. Experimental fish were categorized into five groups: negative control; positive control; and preventive, curative, and controlling treatments. Except negative control, all groups were challenged by A. hydrophila at a density of 107 CFU mL−1 (0.1 mL per fish). Preventive, curative, and controlling treatment groups were administered the banana midrib extract-enriched diet (3%), whereas positive and negative controls were not treated with banana midrib extract. The results showed that banana midrib extract inhibited A. hydrophila activity in giant gourami, demonstrated by lower A. hydrophila numbers in preventive, curative, and controlling treatments than those in the positive control. After the challenge test in the fish treated with banana midrib extract, immunity parameters were better than those of the positive control. Banana midrib extract was highly effective as a curative agent against MAS in giant gourami based on the highest survival of the experimental fish compared with other treatments.

HighlightKnowing the amount of daily calcium neededKnowing utilization of fish bone meal and its processed productsAnalysis of the most preferred types of food and fish speciesAbstractGourami (Osphronemus gouramy) is a type of freshwater fish native to Indonesia that is widely preferred, and has high economic value so that production per year increases. Increasing the amount of fish production will result in an increased amount of fish bone waste. However, the processing of gourami in general is still limited to using the meat for frying, grilling, filling, and making shredded fish, while the fish bones are not widely used. Several studies have shown that fish bones that are made into flour contain high calcium. Food processing from fish bone flour can be used as an alternative to meet daily calcium intake. Several stud- ies have started to use fish bone flour to become processed food with calcium such as baked donuts, starch balls, and biscuits, but there are still many other foods from the different regions that need to utilize the fish bone as one of their ingredi- ents. The purpose of this study was to analyze the understanding of the community members, and newcomers in Purbalingga regarding the use of fish bone flour, and its processed products, calcium content, also to know their favorite snacks, and types of fish. The results of the survey analysis stated that it is necessary to use Gourami fish bone flour in making calcium dumplings and its resistance to oxygen.

The aim of this study was to determine the preference for plankton as natural feed by giant gourami, walking catfish, and red nile on intensive aquaculture system. The study was designed using Completely Randomized Design (RAL), with two replications. Each fish was kept in six concrete tanks with dimension 2x2x1 m³ and 60 cm water level. Water source were from wells. Commercial pellet feed was given in three times daily ad libitum. Water samples were filtered and two individual fish were collected for plankton samples from pond water and alimentary canal, respectively, every two week, simultaneously with water quality measurements. Plankton samples were preserved using 5% formaldehyde and was observed under a compound light microscope with 100x magnification. The amount of plankton in the alimentary canal was converted to volume. Data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the volume contents proportion of plankton in the alimentary canal was less than 1%. The volume of plankton proportion in the alimentary canal of red nile were found the most than other fish. Each fish had the same preference of plankton of Lepocinclis and Scenedesmus, but different from other species of plankton. The plankton that utilized by giant gouramy were Crucigenia, Diadesmis and Navicula, whereas walking catfish was Pediastrum, and red nile was Microcystis. The plankton that preferred by giant gouramy were Crucigenia, Oscillatoria, Splirullina, and Synedra, walking catfish was Navicula, while red nile were Chrysamoeba and Tintinnidium.

Abstract:
Fish is a potential source of animal protein, but has a weakness that is easy to rot. To avoid decay can be preserved by salting the fish. In this study wet salting was carried out to analyze the effect of salting on fish protein. The sample used was a type of gourami with 5 tails. 1 for the sample before salting and 4 for salting each salted at 10, 20, 30 and 40% b/v after that it was left to stand for 12 hours. The research method used was the Gel Electrophoresis method (SDS-PAGE) to determine molecular weight (MW), looking at the purity and damage of proteins in the sample. The samples of gouramy before salting showed 16 bands, 8 major bands and 8 minor ribbons. Samples of gouramy with a salt concentration of 10% b/v showed 16 bands, 7 major bands and 9 minor bands. Samples of gouramy with a salt concentration of 20% b/v showed 14 bands, 7 major bands and 7 minor bands. Samples of gouramy with a salt concentration of 30% b/v showed 10 bands, 3 major bands and 7 minor bands. Samples of gouramy with a salt concentration of 40% b/v showed 9 bands, 3 major bands and 6 minor bands. Thus it can be concluded that salting of fish can affect the gouramy protein, which is the higher the salt content added, the protein found in the fish will be denatured. The salting process of 10% b/v in gouramy meat is the most recommended salting process compared to the salting process of 20, 30 and 40% b/v.Ikan merupakan sumber protein hewani yang potensial, namun memiliki suatu kelemahan yaitu mudah membusuk.

The limited knowledge possessed by gouramy cultivators on diseases that attack gouramy has become a problem and obstacle in the effort of hatchery and enlargement of gouramy and the lack of experts in gouramy to provide counseling about gouramy diseases, so it is necessary to develop expert system applications aimed at a forum for consultation with experts, diagnosing gouramy disease and providing solutions to prevent diseases of gouramy. In the expert system there are several inference machines that can be used, one of them is using dempster shafers which are mathematical theories for proof based on belief functions and plausible reasoning. Used to calculate the probability of an event obtained from a combination of separate pieces of information (facts). In this study an expert system for diagnosing disease in gouramy using a dempster shafer inference machine resulted in a calculation of the level of confidence in carp disease at the highest 99.85% in Red Disease (Motile Aeromonas Septocemia) and at least 90% in white spot disease (White spot ).

Vaccination is one of the most effective methods to prevent disease outbreaks and distribution in aquaculture. Commercial fish vaccine products are mainly available in liquid-based products (water-based vaccines), which have several limitations such as stability issues of the products (durability) when stored at room temperature, bulky packaging, and transportation complexity during distribution. This study aimed to develop a method of vaccine preparation using the freeze-dried method as part of the management control of Aeromonads septicemia disease in freshwater aquaculture. The study consisted of several stages: the first stage was the production of freeze-dried Aeromonas hydrophila vaccine product at -100°C. The second stage was vaccine quality test followed by the third stage which was vaccine efficacy test. This research produced frozen dried vaccine products that were considered safe to be applied to catfish, tilapia, and gourami, and could increase the antibody titer. The formation of the whole cell vaccine of A. hydrophila using the freeze-dried method could reduce the weight of the liquid form of the vaccine product from 100 g to a powder weighing only 4.2 g. The results of the vaccine efficacy test showed the relative percent survivals (RPSs) of Clarias sp., Oreochromis niloticus and Osphronemus gouramy were 70%, 45.83%, and 31.67%, respectively. Freeze dried vaccine of whole cells Aeromonas hydrophila are most effective in catfish to prevent Motile Aeromanads Septicemia.

Kata kunci: antropologi budaya, etnomatematik, Osphronemus gouramy, budaya Sunda ABSTRACT Ethnomathematical concept that was proposed by D'Ambrosio looked at culture and mathematics as an interconnected thing that can be explained each other by everyday mathematical activities of society. This research at least brings two missions, namely educational and cultural missions. History noted that the Sundanese have a unique technique in counting fish seeds (Osphronemus gouramy). The uniqueness is visible from how they count by singing and also in the perspective of mathematical process. This interpretive study explores the mathematical concepts contained in the Sundanese culture and provide an overview of cultural anthropology through an ethnomathematics approach. This research observed four senior farmers from different cities in Priangan Timur. The results show that Sundanese uses the concept of a multiple of five in counting fish seeds. In addition, they are also highly skilled at applying the distributive properties of multiplication, but they don’t know the term mathematically. Even the concept of identity and inverse, indirectly they have applied it without knowing the terms. Almost all respondents cannot explain how they got this multiplication process because the four of respondents only went to elementary school, even some of them did not finish it. They said clearly that mathematics can be mastered by experience. From the anthropology perspective, Gourami Fish has a very meaningful semiotics value for Sundanese, it shows the prestige value of Sundanese. From a cultural perspective, this research exposes Sundaneses’ local wisdom becomes part of the effort to uphold the nation's cultural values. From educational perspective, this study could be an effort in reducing the notion that mathematics and culture are culturally-free. Abstract:
Purwonegoro Fish Market, Banjarnegara district is the largest fish market in Central Java southern and western parts. This fish market serves as a center for buying and selling fish and fish seed traffic in a particular place to the location of the fish farmers. It will possibly spread a particular type of disease from one area to another. Trichodina sp. is found in the seed of gouramy fish hatchery center area with the pathogenicity level reached 80%. Trichodina sp. has a big role in the cultivation of gouramy production by reducing the physical condition of the fish so dangerous and cause death of gouramy in the seed phase. The results showed that as many as 150 gouramy fish fry were examined, 56 gouramy fish fry were infected Trichodina sp. All of Trichodina sp. are found as many as 573 individual from the gouramy seeds infected. Total intensity of Trichodina sp. from gouramy seeds amounted to 10.97 individual. The measurement results morphometric characters Trichodina sp. show the variation of morphometric with body diameter from 47.5 to 112.5 μm; denticle ring diameter from 22.5 to 47.5 μm; denticle diameter of 12.5 to 42.5 μm, adhesive disc diameter 37.5 to 65 μm; membrane width 2.5-7.5 μm and the number of denticle 13-28. Trichodina sp. allegedly found there are three types of T. heterodentata, T. nigra, and T. acuta.

<p>In the chemical industry, topological indices play an important role in defining the properties of chemical compounds. They are numerical parameters and structure invariant. It is a proven fact by scientists that topological properties are influential tools for interconnection networks. In this paper, we will use stellation, medial and bounded dual operations to build transformed networks from zigzag and triangular benzenoid structures. Using M-polynomial, we compute the first and second Zagreb indices, second modified Zagreb indices, symmetric division index, general Randic index, reciprocal general Randic index. We also calculate atomic bond connectivity index, geometric arithmetic index, harmonic index, first and second Gourava indices, first and second hyper Gourava indices.</p>
